Abstract:
While searching at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) for the production and decay of the CP-odd scalar ($A^0$) in the 2-Higgs-Doublet Model (2HDM) with Natural Flavour Conservation (NFC) via the channels $gg\to A^0$ (through one-loop triangle diagrams) and $A^0\to h^0 Z^*$ (with $m_{h^0} =125$ GeV or $m_{h^0} < 125$ GeV, with $Z$ off-shell), respectively, a factorisation of the two processes is norm…

While this approach is gauge-invariant, it is not capturing the presence of either of the following two channels: $gg\to Z^*\to h^0Z^*$ (through one-loop triangle diagrams) or $gg\to h^0Z^*$ (through one-loop box diagrams). As the resolution of the $A^0$ mass cannot be infinitely precise, we affirm that all such contributions should be computed simultaneously, whichever the $h^0$($Z^{*}$) decay(splitting) products, thereby including all possible interferences amongst themselves. The cross section of the ensuing complete process is significantly different from that obtained in the factorisation case, being of the order up to ten percent in either direction at the integrated level and larger (including changes in the shape of kinematical observables) at the differential level. We thus suggest that the complete calculation ought to be performed while searching for $A^0$ in this channel. We illustrate this need for the case of a 2HDM of Type-I in the inverted hierarchy scenario with $m_{h^0}<125$ GeV.

We establish the possibility of having a pseudo-Nambu-Goldstone boson (pNGB) Dark Matter (DM) candidate in the Froggatt-Nielsen Singlet Model (FNSM) wherein a direct connection exists between the DM mass and flavon symmetry-breaking scale. We find a considerable allowed region of parameter space for the ensuing pseudoscalar DM, which is dependent upon the flavon Vacuum Expectation Value (VEV) and Yukawa couplings, over which it may be possible to explain the fermion mass hierarchy. Finally, we choose a Benchmark Point (BP) and perform detailed collider analyses to probe this DM state in the context of Run 3 of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). Specifically, in this model, one obtains large missing transverse energy ($\slashed{E}_T$) when the DM particle is resonantly produced from the decay of a heavy Higgs field, along with multiple jets from Initial State Radiation (ISR). Thus, the ensuing $\slashed{E}_T$ + $n\, {\rm jets}~(n \geq 1)$ signature is an excellent probe of DM in this construct.

The precise measurement of the top-Higgs coupling is crucial in particle physics, offering insights into potential new physics Beyond the Standard Model (BSM) carrying CP Violation (CPV) effects. In this paper, we explore the CP properties of a Higgs boson coupling with a top quark pair, focusing on events where the Higgs state decays into a pair of $b$-quarks and the top-antitop system decays leptonically. The novelty of our analysis resides in the exploitation of two conditional Deep Learning (DL) networks: a Multi-Layer Perceptron (MLP) and a Graph Convolution Network (GCN). These models are trained for selected CPV phase values and then used to interpolate all possible values ranging from $0 \text{ to } π/2$. This enables a comprehensive assessment of sensitivity across all CP phase values, thereby streamlining the process as the models are trained only once. Notably, the conditional GCN exhibits superior performance over the conditional MLP, owing to the nature of graph-based Neural Network (NN) structures. Our Machine Learning (ML) informed findings indicate that assessment of the CP properties of the Higgs coupling to the $t\bar{t}$ pair can be within reach of the HL-LHC, quantitatively surpassing the sensitivity of more traditional approaches.

In this paper, we study the discovery potential of a Vector-Like $B$ quark (VLB) via the process $pp \to B(\to bZ)j\to b(Z \to ν_l\bar{ν_l})j$ at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) with $\sqrt{s}=14$ TeV. In the framework of a simplified model, we perform a scan over its parameter space and test its viability following a Monte Carlo analysis developed to include all production and decay dynamics. We use cut-and-count combined with Extreme Gradient Boosting (XGBoost) methods to classify the signal and background events in order to improve the efficiency of signal identification and background rejection. We find that this approach can reduce background events significantly while the signal retention rate is much higher than that of traditional methods, thereby improving the VLB discovery potential. We then calculate the exclusion and discovery capabilities for VLBs and find that the advantages of the cut-and-count plus XGBoost method especially lie in the high-mass region, i.e., $m_B > 1500 \text{ GeV}$. We finally obtain the following LHC results in terms of the coupling and chiral structure of a singlet heavy VLB interactions: (i) for $g^{\ast}$=0.2 and $R_L=0$ with 3000 fb$^{-1}$, the $B$ quark mass can be be excluded (discovered) up to 3000 GeV (2500 GeV); (ii) for $g^{\ast}$=0.2 and $R_L=0.5$ with 3000 fb$^{-1}$, the exclusion (discovery) region can reach up to 4750 GeV (4250 GeV).

These findings are complemented by a long-standing discrepancy in the $b\bar{b}$ invariant mass at the Large Electron-Positron (LEP) Collider. Additionally, the ATLAS collaboration has reported a corroborative excess in the di-photon final state within the same mass range, albeit with slightly lower significance. Our approach involves the superposition of CP-even and CP-odd Higgs bosons within the Type-III Two-Higgs Doublet Model (2HDM) to simultaneously explain these excesses at 1$σ$ Confidence Level (C.L.), while remaining consistent with current theoretical and experimental constraints.

However, light higgsinos as dark matter would have far too large direct detection cross sections. We consider the next-to-MSSM (NMSSM) with an additional singlino-like lightest supersymmetric particle (LSP) a few GeV below the next-to-lightest supersymmetric particle (NLSP). Sparticles prefer to decay first into the NLSP and remnants from the final decay into the LSP are too soft to contribute to the observed signals. Co-annihilation in the higgsino-sector can generate a relic density in the WMAP/Planck window. The singlino-like LSP has automatically a direct detection cross section below present and future sensitivities: a direct detection signal in the near future would exclude this scenario. The singlet-like Higgs scalar of the NMSSM can have a mass around 95 GeV and signal cross sections in the $b\bar{b}$ channel at LEP and in the $γγ$ channel at the LHC compatible with the respective observations.

Under the assumption that anomalies seen at a mass of about 95 GeV by the Large Electron-Positron (LEP) and Large Hadron Collider (LHC) experiments correspond to a NP signal, which we attempt to interpret as a spin-0 resonance in the $(B-L)$ Supersymmetric Standard Model ($(B-L)$SSM), chosen as an illustrative example, we introduce a novel Machine Learning (ML) approach based on a multi-objective active search method, called b-CASTOR, able to achieve high sample efficiency and diversity, due to the use of probabilistic surrogate models and a volume based search policy, outperforming competing algorithms, such as those based on Markov-Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) methods.

We explain the ATOMKI anomaly with a very light $Z'$ state that features non-anomalous and non-flavour-universal vector and axial-vector couplings to all leptons. This $Z'$ comes from a theoretical framework with a spontaneously broken $U(1)'$ symmetry in addition to the Standard Model (SM) gauge group and is compliant with current measurements of the anomalous magnetic moments of the electron and the muon as well as beam dump experiments. The lepton flavour structure of this model allows for $Z'$ couplings to all light neutrinos, suggesting the possibility of $Z'$-mediated Non-Standard Interactions (NSIs) of neutrinos in matter, so that measurements of the strength parameters of the NSIs can constrain the value of the couplings. We use experimental constraints on NSIs of neutrinos using older TEXONO data and newer IceCube data. The IceCube data, in particular, strongly constrain the flavour universality of the leptonic vector current. The constraints enable us to define the region of parameter space of this theoretical scenario that can be pursued in further phenomenological analyses.

A comprehensive extension of the ordinary 2-Higgs Doublet Model (2HDM), supplemented by Vector-Like Quarks (VLQs), in the ``alignment limit'' is presented. In such a scenario, we study the possibility that Large Hadron Collider (LHC) searches for VLQs can profile their nature too, i.e., whether they belong to a singlet, doublet, or triplet representation. To achieve this, we exploit both Standard Model (SM) decays of VLQs with top-(anti)quark Electromagnetic (EM) charge ($T$), i.e., into $b,t$ quarks and $W^\pm, Z,h$ bosons (which turn out to be suppressed and hence $T$ states can escape existing limits) as well as their exotic decays, i.e., into $b,t$ (and possibly $B$) quarks and $H^\pm, H, A$ bosons. We show that quite specific decay patterns emerge in the different VLQ representations so that, depending upon which $T$ signals are accessed at the LHC, one may be able to ascertain the underlying Beyond Standard Model (BSM) structure, especially if mass knowledge of the new fermionic and bosonic sectors can be inferred from (other) data.

We analyse the signature of a light Higgs boson pair in the 2-Higgs Doublet Model(2HDM) Type-X (or lepton specific) over the parameter spaces allowed by theoretical self-consistency requirements as well as the latest experimental constraints from the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), precision test data and $B$ physics. Over the viable regions of the latter, wherein the Standard Model (SM)-like Higgs boson discovered at the LHC in 2012 is the heavier CP-even state of the 2HDM, $H$, it is found that the SM-like Higgs boson can decay into a pair of the lighter CP-even Higgs boson, $h$, via the process $H\to hh$ with a Branching Ratio (BR) of $5\%-10\%$ or so, (with $2 m_h < m_H =125$ GeV). Furthermore, in the Type-X scenario, the lighter Higgs bosons $h$ can dominantly decay into two $τ$'s due to a large $\tanβ$. Therefore, the pair of lighter Higgs bosons can altogether decay into a 4 $τ$ final state. In order to suppress the huge SM background events, we confine ourself to consider the fraction of signal events with two Same-Sign (SS) $τ$'s further decaying into same sign leptons while the other two $τ$'s decay hadronically. By using Monte Carlo (MC) and Machine Learning (ML) tools, we thus focus on the analysis of the signal process $pp\to H\to hh\to τ^{+}τ^{-}τ^{+}τ^{-}\to \ell v_\ell \ell v_\ell τ_h τ_h$ (where $\ell= e, μ$ and $τ_h$ means a hadronic decay of the $τ$) and explore the feasibility of such a search at the LHC for a collision energy $\sqrt{s}=~\text{14 TeV}$ and a luminosity $\text{300}~\text{fb}^{-1}$

In a simplified modelling of a $(B,Y)$ doublet including a vector-like quark $Y$, with charge $-\frac{4}{3}$e, there are only two free parameters: the $Y$ coupling $κ_{Y}$ and mass $m_Y$. In the five flavor scheme, we investigate the single production of the $Y$ state decaying into $Wb$ at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) Run-III and High-Luminosity LHC (HL-LHC) operating at $\sqrt{s}$ = 14 TeV, the possible High-Energy LHC (HE-LHC) with $\sqrt{s}$ = 27 TeV as well as the Future Circular Collider in hadron-hadron mode (FCC-hh) with $\sqrt{s}$ = 100 TeV. Through detailed signal-to-background analyses and detector simulations, we assess the exclusion capabilities of the $Y$ state at the different colliders. We find that this can be improved significantly with increasing collision energy, especially at the HE-LHC and FCC-hh, both demonstrating an obvious advantage with respect to the HL-LHC in the case of high $m_Y$. Assuming a 10\% systematic uncertainty on the background event rate, the exclusion capabilities are summarized as follows: (1) the LHC Run-III can exclude the correlated regions of $κ_{Y} \in [0.06,0.5]$ and $m_{Y} \in [1500\text{ GeV},3800\text{ GeV}]$ with integrated luminosity $L = 300\text{ fb}^{-1}$; (2) the HL-LHC can exclude the correlated regions of $κ_{Y} \in [0.05,0.5]$ and $m_{Y} \in [1500\text{ GeV},3970\text{ GeV}]$ with $L = 3$ ab$^{-1}$; (3) the HE-LHC can exclude the correlated regions of $κ_Y \in [0.06,0.5]$ and $m_{Y} \in [1500\text{ GeV} , 6090\text{ GeV}]$ with $L = 3$ ab$^{-1}$; (4) the FCC-hh can exclude the correlated regions of $κ_{Y} \in [0.08,0.5]$ and $m_{Y} \in [1500\text{ GeV} , 10080\text{ GeV}]$ with $L = 3$ ab$^{-1}$.

In the ensuing boosted Higgs regime, the final state consists of two fat jets. Our multi-modal network can extract information from the jet substructure and the kinematics of the final state particles through self-attention transformer layers. The diverse learned information is subsequently integrated to improve classification performance using an additional transformer encoder with cross-attention heads. We ultimately prove that our approach surpasses in performance current alternative methods used to establish sensitivity to this process, whether solely based on kinematic analysis or else on a combination of this with mainstream ML approaches. Then, we employ various interpretive methods to evaluate the network results, including attention map analysis and visual representation of Gradient-weighted Class Activation Map** (Grad-CAM). Finally, we note that the proposed network is generic and can be applied to analyse any process carrying information at different scales. Our code is publicly available for generic use.

Machine learning has played a pivotal role in advancing physics, with deep learning notably contributing to solving complex classification problems such as jet tagging in the field of jet physics. In this experiment, we aim to harness the full potential of neural networks while acknowledging that, at times, we may lose sight of the underlying physics governing these models. Nevertheless, we demonstrate that we can achieve remarkable results obscuring physics knowledge and relying completely on the model's outcome. We introduce JetLOV, a composite comprising two models: a straightforward multilayer perceptron (MLP) and the well-established LundNet. Our study reveals that we can attain comparable jet tagging performance without relying on the pre-computed LundNet variables. Instead, we allow the network to autonomously learn an entirely new set of variables, devoid of a priori knowledge of the underlying physics. These findings hold promise, particularly in addressing the issue of model dependence, which can be mitigated through generalization and training on diverse data sets.

In the analysis, we consider the associated production of a charged Higgs boson with a light neutral one, $pp \rightarrow H^{\pm} h$, with the subsequent $H^\pm \rightarrow W^{\pm*} h$. We then investigate the emerging $W^{\pm*} + 4b$ final state and provide several benchmark points for signal-to-background analysis. We therefore show that this signal could be an excellent avenue for identifying $H^\pm$ at the LHC.

We show how effects of compositeness emerging in a Composite 2-Higgs Doublet Model can enter Standard Model (SM)-like Higgs pair production at the Large Hadron Collider in both resonant and non-resonant mode. Such effects can arise from modified trilinear Higgs self-couplings and top-Yukawa couplings as well as from loops of new heavy quarks and additional quartic Higgs-fermion interactions. In the resonant case, significant distortions of the Breit- Wigner shape of a new scalar state decaying into the two SM-like Higgs states may occur due to interference effects amongst not only the SM-like diagrams but also those involving the new heavy quarks. In the non-resonant case, a modification of the underlying line-shape and a local maximum at twice a new heavy quark mass appear simultaneously. We quantify these effects by taking into account the relevant theoretical and latest experimental bounds.

We analyse new signals of a 3-Higgs Doublet Model (3HDM) at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) where only one doublet acquires a Vacuum Expectation Value (VEV), preserving a $Z_2$ parity. The other two doublets are \textit{inert} and do not develop a VEV, leading to a \textit{dark scalar sector} controlled by $Z_2$, with the lightest CP-even dark scalar $H_1$ being the Dark Matter (DM) candidate. This leads to the loop induced decay of the next-to-lightest scalar, $H_2 \to H_1 \ell \bar \ell $ ($\ell =e,μ$), mediated by both dark CP-odd neutral and charged scalars. This is a smoking-gun signal of the 3HDM since it is not allowed in the 2-Higgs Doublet Model (2HDM) with one inert doublet and is expected to be important when $H_2$ and $H_1$ are close in mass. In practice, this signature can be observed in the cascade decay of the SM-like Higgs boson, $h\to H_1 H_2\to H_1 H_1 \ell \bar \ell$ into two DM particles and di-leptons or $h\to H_2 H_2\to H_1 H_1 \ell \bar \ell \ell \bar \ell$ into two DM particles and four-leptons, where $h$ is produced from gluon-gluon Fusion. In order to test the feasibility of these channels at the LHC, we devise some benchmarks, compliant with collider, DM and cosmological data, for which the interplay between these production and decay modes is discussed. In particular, we show that the resulting detector signatures, $\Et \ell \bar \ell$ or $\Et \ell \bar \ell \ell \bar \ell$, with the invariant mass of $ \ell \bar \ell$ pairs much smaller than $m_Z$, can potentially be extracted already from Run 3 data and at the High-Luminosity phase of the LHC.

Specifically, herein, the heaviest of the two CP-even neutral Higgs states, $H$, can be the one discovered at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) in 2012, with a mass of $\approx 125$ GeV and couplings consistent with those predicted by the Standard Model (SM). In such a condition of the model, referred to as `inverted mass hierarchy', the decay of the SM-like Higgs state into pairs of the lightest CP-even neutral Higgs boson, $h$, is possible, for masses of the latter ranging from $M_H/2\approx 65$ GeV down to 15 GeV or so, all compatible with experimental constraints. In this paper, we investigate the scope of the LHC in accessing the process $gg\to H \to hh\to b\bar bττ$ by performing a Monte Carlo (MC) analysis aimed at extracting this signal from the SM backgrounds, in presence of a dedicated trigger choice and kinematic selection. We prove that some sensitivity to such a channel exists already at Run 3 of the LHC while the High-Luminosity LHC (HL-LHC) will be able to either confirm or disprove this theoretical scenario over sizable regions of its parameter space.

The seesaw scale is a priori unknown. If the seesaw scale is low, one may directly look for the new particles predicted by seesaw models. If the seesaw scale is high, such an approach is unfeasible. We show that in some supersymmetric seesaw models the large Yukawa couplings of high scale seesaw models leave their fingerprints to Higgs-slepton couplings and that this can result in decays of the type $\tildeν_{2}\rightarrow \tildeν_{1}h$ in Type-I and Type-III seesaw models and $\tilde{\ell}^{\pm}_{2}\rightarrow \tilde{\ell}^{\pm}_{1}h$ in the latter. Unfortunately the current exclusion bounds make it impossible to see a significant signal even at the High-Luminosity phase of the LHC. In this paper, we highlight that the High-Energy phase of the LHC (with $\sqrt{s}=27$~TeV) could afford one with some sensitivity to those in the single lepton channel.

We suggest an explanation for and explore the consequences of the excess around 95 GeV in the di-photon and di-tau invariant mass distributions recently reported by the CMS collaboration at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), together with the discrepancy that has long been observed at the Large Electron-Positron (LEP) collider in the $b\bar b$ invariant mass. Interestingly, the most recent findings announced by the ATLAS collaboration do not contradict, or even support, these intriguing observations. Their search in the di-photon final state similarly reveals an excess of events within the same mass range, albeit with a bit lower significance, thereby corroborating and somewhat reinforcing the observations made by CMS. We demonstrate that the lightest CP-even Higgs boson in the general 2-Higgs Doublet Model (2HDM) Type-III can explain simultaneously the observed excesses at approximately 1.3 $σ$ C.L. while satisfying up-to-date theoretical and experimental constraints. Moreover, the 2HDM Type-III predicts an excess in the $pp\to t\bar t H_{\rm SM}$ production channel of the 125 GeV Higgs boson, $H_{\rm SM}$. This effect is caused by a up to 12\% enhancement of the $H_{\rm SM}tt$ Yukawa coupling in comparison to that predicted by the Standard Model. Such an effect can be tested at the High Luminosity LHC (HL-LHC), which can either discover or exclude the scenario we suggest. This unique characteristic of the 2HDM Type-III makes this scenario with the 95 GeV resonance very attractive for further theoretical and experimental investigations at the (HL-)LHC and future colliders.

The $A\to Z^{(*)}h$ decay signature has been highlighted as possibly being the first testable probe of the Standard Model (SM) Higgs boson discovered in 2012 ($h$) interacting with Higgs companion states, such as those existing in a 2-Higgs Doublet Model (2HDM), chiefly, a CP-odd one ($A$). The production mechanism of the latter at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) takes place via $b\bar b$-annihilation and/or $gg$-fusion, depending on the 2HDM parameters, in turn dictated by the Yukawa structure of this Beyond the SM (BSM) scenario. Among the possible incarnations of the 2HDM, we test here the so-called Type-II, for a twofold reason. On the one hand, it intriguingly offers two very distinct parameter regions compliant with the SM-like Higgs measurements, i.e., where the so-called `SM limit' of the 2HDM can be achieved. On the other hand, in both configurations, the $AZh$ coupling is generally small, hence the signal is strongly polluted by backgrounds, so that the exploitation of Machine Learning (ML) techniques becomes extremely useful. In this paper, we show that the application of advanced ML implementations can be decisive in establishing such a signal.
This is true for all distinctive kinematical configurations involving the $A\to Z^{(*)}h$ decay, i.e., below threshold ($m_A<m_Z+m_h$), at its maximum ($m_Z+m_h<m_A<2m_t$) and near the onset of $t\bar t$ pair production ($m_A \approx 2m_t$), for which we propose Benchmark Points (BPs) for future phenomenological analyses.

In the present study, we analyze instead the feasibility of the bosonic decay channel $W^{\pm *} h$, with the charged gauge boson being off-shell and $h$ being a neutral light Higgs boson, which decays predominantly into $b\bar{b}$. We perform a Monte Carlo (MC) analysis for the associate production of a charged Higgs with such a light neutral one, $pp\to H^\pm h$, at the LHC followed by the aforementioned charged Higgs boson decay, which leads to a $W^{\pm *} +4b$ final state. The analysis is performed within the 2-Higgs Doublet Model (2HDM) with Yukawa texture of Type-I. We take into account all available experimental constraints from LEP, Tevatron and the LHC as well as the theoretical requirements of self-consistency of this scenario. In order to study the full process $pp \rightarrow H^{\pm} h \rightarrow W^{\pm *} h h \rightarrow \ell^\pm ν+ 4b$ ($\ell=e,μ$), we provide several Benchmark Points (BPs) amenable to further analysis, with $M_{H^\pm}+M_{b} < M_{t}$, for which we prove that there is a strong possibility that this spectacular signal could be found at the LHC with center of mass energy 14 TeV and luminosity 300 $\rm{fb}^{-1}$.

We show that the corresponding decay rate not only extends the reach of $H^\pm$ searches to small masses of the latter but also that the results of our implementation differ significantly from the yield of the $1\to3$ body decay over the phase space region in which the latter is normally used. We show the phenomenological relevance of this implementation in the case of the so-called lepton-specific 2-Higgs Doublet Model (2HDM) over the mass region wherein the aforementioned $1\to 4$ body decay can dominate just beyond the top (anti)quark mass. This mass region is accessible in the lepton-specific 2HDM as the Yukawa couplings are such that limits from $b \to s γ$ and $τ\to μν_τ \bar{ν_μ}$ observables on $M_{H^\pm}$ are rather mild. However, we emphasise that similar effects may occur in other 2HDM types, as the $W^\pm H^\mp A$ vertex is 2HDM type independent.

In this article, we establish that the new neutral as well as the charged Higgs bosons in this model can all be simultaneously observable in the multi-$b$ final state. The statistical significance of the signature for each of these Higgs states, resulting from the electro-weak (EW) production of their pairs, can exceed 5$σ$ at the 13\,TeV High-Luminosity Large Hadron Collider (HL-LHC). Since the parameter space configurations where this is achievable are precluded in the other, more extensively pursued, 2HDM Types, an experimental validation of our findings would be a clear indication that the true underlying Higgs sector in nature is the Type-I 2HDM.

We isolate the latter by using the toolbox Magellan, which performs Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) scans in the presence of all current theoretical and experimental constraints, which relevance is accounted for accurately by using built-in Bayesian statistical methods. It is found that the allowed points in the 2HDM type-II parameter space of the aforementioned kind would not only provide inclusive rates considerably above those of the equivalent SM process but also distributions in several kinematical observables that are very different from the SM, both of which can help disentangle the SM from the 2HDM hypothesis. This difference is a consequence of the bottom-gluon fusion sub-process, which in the 2HDM becomes dominant over all others, with the latter remaining very close to the SM yields. We prove that this phenomenology would be observable at the HL-LHC for the illustrative example of $h$ to bottom-antibottom quark decays.

We present a novel approach to the study of di-Higgs production via gluon-gluon fusion at the LHC. The relevant Feynman diagrams involving two Standard Model-like Higgs bosons $hh$ are computed within a simplified model approach that enables one to interpret possible signals of new physics in a model-independent way as well as to map these onto specific theories. This is possible thanks to a decomposition of such a signal process into all its squared amplitudes and their relative interferences, each of which has a well-defined coupling structure. We illustrate the power of this procedure for the case of both a minimal and next-to-minimal representation of Supersymmetry, for which the new physics effects are due to top squarks entering the loops of $gg\to hh$. The squarks yield both a change of the integrated cross section and peculiar kinematic features in its differential distributions with respect to the Standard Model. These effects can in turn be traced back to the relevant diagrammatic and coupling structures and allow for a detailed analysis of the process. In order to do so, we perform systematic scans of the parameter spaces of such new physics scenarios and identify benchmark points which exhibit potentially observable features during the current and upcoming runs of the LHC.

In the absence of any signal, limits on the parameter space of $[\tanβ, \cos(β-α), m_{A^0}]$ in each 2HDM are derived for $m_{A^0} > 225$ GeV. In this work we consider the scenario of inverted hierarchy with $m_{h^0}<125$ GeV and $m_{H^0}=125$ GeV in which the decay $A^0\to h^0 Z^{(*)}$ (i.e. including the case of an off-shell $Z$) can have a large branching ratio in the 2HDM (Type I) for $m_{A^0}<225$ GeV. We calculate the signal cross section $σ(gg\to A^0)\times {\rm BR}(A^0\to h^0Z^{(*)})\times {\rm BR}(h^0\to b\overline b)$ in the 2HDM (Type I) with NFC and compare its magnitude with the cross section for the case of normal hierarchy ($m_{h^0}=125$ GeV) that is currently being searched for at the LHC. For the experimentally unexplored region $m_{A^0} < 225$ GeV it is shown that the above cross section for signal events in the scenario of inverted hierarchy can be of the order of a few picobarns. Such sizeable cross sections are several orders of magnitude larger than the cross sections for the case of normal hierarchy, thus motivating an extension of the ongoing searches for $A^0\to h^0 Z^{(*)}$ to probe the scenario of inverted hierarchy.

Abstract:
We investigate the ${\mathcal{R}}(D)$ and ${\mathcal{R}}(D^{\ast})$ anomalies in the context of the $B-L$ extension of the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model with Inverse Seesaw. We demonstrate that the lepton penguin $W^{\pm}l \barν_l $ ($l=e,μ,τ$) mediated by CP-even/odd right-handed sneutrinos, charginos and neutralinos can account for these anomalies simultaneously.

The ultimate motivation of our study is to look for signs of physics beyond the Standard Model (BSM). We investigate whether different jet clustering techniques might be more or less suited to the particular final states of interest. In particular, we are interested in fully hadronic final states emerging from the decay chain of the Standard Model like Higgs boson into pairs of light Higgs states, the latter in turn decaying into bottom-anti bottom pairs. We show that, the ability of selecting the multi-jet final state and to reconstruct invariant masses of the Higgs bosons from it depend strongly on the choice of acceptance cuts, resolution parameters and reconstruction algorithm as well as its settings. Hence, we indicate the optimal choice of the latter for the purpose of establishing such a benchmark as a BSM signal. We then repeat the exercise for a heavy Higgs boson cascading into two SM-like Higgs states, obtaining similar results.

We illustrate the role of systematic uncertainties due to QCD effects encoded in parton distribution functions for experimental searches in leptonic channels. We show that, by reducing this systematics through the combination of high-precision measurements of Standard Model (SM) lepton-charge and forward-backward asymmetries near the SM vector-boson peak, the sensitivity to the new physics signals can be greatly enhanced.

We study the possibility of measuring neutrino Yukawa couplings in the Next-to-Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model with right-handed neutrinos (NMSSMr) when the lightest Supersymmetric partner (a right-handed sneutrino) is the Dark Matter (DM) candidate, by exploiting a `dijet + dilepton + Missing Transverse Energy' (MET) signature. We show that, unlike the miminal realisation of Supersymmetry (SUSY), i.e., the MSSM, for which the DM candidate is a much heavier (fermionic) state (a neutralino), this non-minimal SUSY model offers one with a much lighter (bosonic) state (a sneutrino) as DM, which can be produced at future $e^+e^-$ colliders with energies up to about 500 GeV. The emerging signal, from chargino pair production and subsequent decay, is extremely pure so it allows for the possibility of extracting the Yukawa parameters of the (s)neutrino sector. These results should then motivate searches for light DM signals at such accelerators, where a DM candidate with mass at the Electro-Weak (EW) scale can then be accessed.

After performing a scan over the model parameters, we found that the inverted scenario of Type-I offers a new promising signal in the form of the following cascade decays: $H \to Z^{*}a \to Z^{*}Z^{*}h \to b\overline{b} μ^- μ^+ jj$. We investigate then its significance through a full Monte Carlo (MC) simulation down to the detector level.

We present a new approach to jet definition alternative to clustering methods, such as the anti-$k_T$ scheme, that exploit kinematic data directly. Instead the new method uses kinematic information to represent the particles in a multidimensional space, as in spectral clustering. After confirming its Infra-Red (IR) safety, we compare its performance in analysing $gg \rightarrow H_{125~\rm GeV} \rightarrow H_{40~\rm GeV}H_{40~\rm GeV} \rightarrow b\bar{b}b\bar{b}$, $gg \rightarrow H_{500~\rm GeV} \rightarrow H_{125~\rm GeV}H_{125~\rm GeV} \rightarrow b\bar{b}b\bar{b}$ and $gg, q\bar{q} \rightarrow t\bar{t} \rightarrow b\bar{b}W^+W^- \rightarrow b\bar{b}jjlνl$ events from Monte Carlo (MC) samples, specifically, in reconstructing the relevant final states, to that of the anti-$k_T$ algorithm. Finally, we show that the results for spectral clustering are obtained without any change in the parameter settings of the algorithm, unlike the anti-$k_T$ case, which requires the cone size to be adjusted to the physics process under study.

We study the phenomenology of charged Higgs bosons ($H^\pm$) and Vector-Like Quarks (VLQs), denoted as $T$, the latter possessing a charge identical to the top quark one, within the framework of the Two Higgs Doublet Model Type-II (2HDM-II). Upon examining two scenarios, one featuring a singlet $(T)$ (2HDM-II+$(T)$) and another a doublet $(TB)$ (2HDM-II+$(TB)$), we discover that the presence of VLQs has a significant effect on the (pseudo)scalar sector of the 2HDM-II. In particular, this leads to a reduction in the strict constraint on the mass of the charged Higgs boson, which is imposed by $B$-physics observables, specifically $B\to X_sγ$. {The observed reduction stems from modifications in the charged Higgs couplings to the Standard Model (SM) top and bottom quarks}. Notably, the degree of this reduction varies distinctly between the singlet 2HDM+$(T)$ and doublet 2HDM+$(TB)$ scenarios. Additionally, our investigation extends to constraints imposed by the oblique parameters $S$ and $T$ on the VLQ mixing angles. Furthermore, to facilitate efficient exploration of the '2HDM-II+VLQ' parameter space, we present results on pair production of VLQs $T$ ($pp\to T\bar T$), followed by $T\to H^\pm b$ and $H^\pm \to tb$ decays, yielding a distinctive $2t4b$ final state. This investigation thus provides valuable insights guiding the search for extended Higgs and quark sectors at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN.

We show that the cross section for this process should be sufficiently large to afford one with significant sensitivity during Run 3 of the LHC.

We study mono-Higgs signatures emerging in an illustrative new physics scenario involving Standard Model Higgs boson decays to bottom quark pairs using Hybrid Deep Neural Networks. We use a Multi-Layer Perceptron to analyze the kinematic observables and optimize the signal-to-background discrimination. The global color flow structure of hard jets emerging from the decay of heavy particles with different color charges is crucial to single out the mono-Higgs signature. Upon embedding the different color flow structures for signal and backgrounds into constructed images, we use a Convolution Neural Network to analyze the latter. Specifically, the approach takes initially a mono-type data as input, frittering away invaluable multi-source and multi-scale information. We then discuss a general architecture of Hybrid Deep Neural Networks that supports instead mixed input data. In comparison with single input Deep Neural Networks, like MultiLayers Perceptron or Convolution Neural Network, the Hybrid Deep Neural Networks provide higher capacity in feature extraction and thus in signal vs background classification performance. We provide reference results for the case of the High-Luminosity Large Hadron Collider.

Through this, we test the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) sensitivity to a possible new signature, $pp\to H_{\rm SM}\to ZA\to ZZ h$, with $ZZ\to jj μ^+μ^-$ and $h\to b\bar b$. We perform a systematic scan over the 2HDM Type-I parameter space, by taking into account all available theoretical and experimental constraints, in order to find a region with a potentially visible signal. We investigate the significance of it through a full Monte Carlo simulation down to the parametrised detector level. We show that such a signal is an alternative promising channel to standard four-body searches for light BSM Higgses at the LHC already with an integrated luminosity of ${\cal L} = 300~{\rm fb}^{-1}$. For a tenfold increase of the latter, discovery should be possible over most of the allowed parameter space.

The detection of a single Higgs boson at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) has allowed one to probe some properties of it, including the Yukawa and gauge couplings. However, in order to probe the Higgs potential, one has to rely on new production mechanisms, such as Higgs pair production. In this paper, we show that such a channel is also sensitive to the production and decay of a so-called `Flavon' field ($H_F$), a new scalar state that arises in models that attempt to explain the hierarchy of the Standard Model (SM) fermion masses. Our analysis also focuses on the other decay channels involving the Flavon particle, specifically the decay of the Flavon to a pair of $Z$ bosons ($H_F \to Z Z$) and the concurrent production of a top quark and charm quark ($H_F\to tc$), having one or more leptons in the final states. In particular, we show that, with 3000 fb$^{-1}$ of accumulated data at 14 TeV (the Run 3 stage) of the LHC an heavy Flavon $H_F$ with mass $M_{H_F} \simeq 2m_t $ can be explored with $3σ-5σ$ significance through these channels.

Leptonic signatures of Dark Matter (DM) are one of the cleanest ways to discover such a secluded form of matter at high energy colliders. We explore the full parameter space relevant to multi-lepton (2- and 3-lepton) signatures at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) from representative minimal consistent models with scalar and fermion DM. In our analysis, we suggest a new parametrisation of the model parameter spaces in terms of the DM mass and mass differences between DM and its multiplet partners. This parametrisation allows us to explore properties of DM models in their whole parameter space. This approach is generic and quite model-independent since the mass differences are related to the couplings of the DM to the Standard Model (SM) sector. We establish the most up-to-date LHC limits on the inert 2-Higgs Doublet Model (i2HDM) and Minimal Fermion DM (MFDM) model parameter spaces, by using the complementary information stemming from 2- and 3-lepton signatures. We provide a map of LHC efficiencies and cross-section limits for such 2- and 3-lepton signatures allowing one to easily make model-independent reinterpretations of LHC results for analogous classes of models. We also present combined constraints from the LHC, DM relic density and direct search experiments indicating the current status of the i2HDM and MFDM model.
