We consider the classical Friedmann-Robertson-Walker solutions that describe a universe undergoing a transition from an accelerating expansion phase in the past to an eternal decelerating expansion phase in the future, driven by a scalar field evolving in a potential energy landscape. We show that any solution for which the accelerating phase violates the Trans-Planckian Censorship Conjecture (TCC), even in the interior of moduli space, never approaches the asymptotic vacuum with zero particles. Based on the assumption that the effective field theory must be valid for the vacuum on the asymptotic boundary, as motivated by holography and string theory, we argue that (multi-field) scalar potentials with such solutions are disallowed, thus strengthening the case for TCC. In particular, the results imply a new set of complex and highly-nonlinear constraints across the entire string landscape which may make realizing inflation impossible.

In order to reveal this quark dynamics, we perform a systematic analysis of $NN$, $D_{03}$, and $D_{30}$ systems in the (extended) chiral SU(3) constituent quark models. By comparing results calculated with different models and different parameter sets, the effects of one gluon exchange and vector meson exchange terms are carefully examined. The results indicate that the vector meson exchange interactions dominate the short range interactions between $u/d$ quarks, while the small residual one gluon exchange coupling strength is also allowed.

Then, other $B^{(*)}_{(s)}\bar{B}^{(*)}_{(s)}$ combinations with different quantum numbers are systematically investigated. Some bound states and resonances appear in the isoscalar systems, while only several shallow bound states exist for isovector systems. Far away from the excited conventional $P-$wave bottomium, these predicted states can be easily identified as exotic particles both theoretically and experimentally. Moreover, the $η_b(nS)/Υ(nS)$ plus light mesons are the excellent final states to search for the bound states, while the $B\bar B^*+h.c.$ and $B^* \bar B^*$ channels are suitable for the resonances. We highly recommend that the LHCb and Belle II Collaborations can hunt for these bottomonium-like states in future.

Also, the width of $K_1(3P^\prime)$ state is predicted to be about 300 MeV, which can be searched for by future experiments. We expect that present calculations can help us to better understand the nature of the $X(2085)$ structure.

We study the QCD topology and axion properties at finite temperature and chemical potential in the framework of the two-flavor Nambu$-$Jona-Lasinio model. We find that the behaviors of the two lowest cumulants of the QCD topological charge distribution and axion properties are highly sensitive to the critical behavior of the chiral phase transition. In particular, the topological susceptibility and the axion mass follow the response of the chiral condensate to temperature and chemical potential, showing that both quantities decrease monotonically with the increment of temperature and/or chemical potential. However, it is important to note that the normalized fourth cumulant behaves differently depending on the temperature. At low temperatures, it is a non-monotonic function of the chemical potential, while at high temperatures, it monotonically decreases. Additionally, its value invariably approaches the asymptotic value of $b_2^{\text {inst }}=-1/12$, predicted by the dilute instanton gas model. We also observe that with the increase in chemical potential at relatively low temperatures, the axion self-coupling constant exhibits a sharp peak around the critical point, which can even be more than twice its vacuum value. After that, the self-coupling drops sharply to a much lower value than its vacuum value, eventually approaching zero in the high chemical potential limit. The finding that the axion self-coupling constant is significantly enhanced in high-density environments near the chiral phase transition could lead to the creation or enhancement of an axion Bose-Einstein condensate in compact astrophysical objects.

The full data set of the Daya Bay reactor neutrino experiment is used to probe the effect of the charged current non-standard interactions (CC-NSI) on neutrino oscillation experiments. Two different approaches are applied and constraints on the corresponding CC-NSI parameters are obtained with the neutrino flux taken from the Huber-Mueller model with a $5\%$ uncertainty. For the quantum mechanics-based approach (QM-NSI), the constraints on the CC-NSI parameters $ε_{eα}$ and $ε_{eα}^{s}$ are extracted with and without the assumption that the effects of the new physics are the same in the production and detection processes, respectively. The approach based on the weak effective field theory (WEFT-NSI) deals with four types of CC-NSI represented by the parameters $[\varepsilon_{X}]_{eα}$. For both approaches, the results for the CC-NSI parameters are shown for cases with various fixed values of the CC-NSI and the Dirac CP-violating phases, and when they are allowed to vary freely. We find that constraints on the QM-NSI parameters $ε_{eα}$ and $ε_{eα}^{s}$ from the Daya Bay experiment alone can reach the order $\mathcal{O}(0.01)$ for the former and $\mathcal{O}(0.1)$ for the latter, while for WEFT-NSI parameters $[\varepsilon_{X}]_{eα}$, we obtain $\mathcal{O}(0.1)$ for both cases.

It is difficult to construct a post-inflation QCD axion model that solves the axion quality problem (and hence the Strong CP problem) without introducing a cosmological disaster. In a post-inflation axion model, the axion field value is randomized during the Peccei-Quinn phase transition, and axion domain walls form at the QCD phase transition. We emphasize that the gauge equivalence of all minima of the axion potential (i.e., domain wall number one) is insufficient to solve the cosmological domain wall problem. The axion string on which a domain wall ends must exist as an individual object (as opposed to a multi-string state), and it must be produced in the early universe. These conditions are often not satisfied in concrete models. Post-inflation axion models also face a potential problem from fractionally charged relics; solving this problem often leads to low-energy Landau poles for Standard Model gauge couplings, reintroducing the quality problem. We study several examples, finding that models that solve the quality problem face cosmological problems, and vice versa. This is not a no-go theorem; nonetheless, we argue that it is much more difficult than generally appreciated to find a viable post-inflation QCD axion model. Successful examples may have a nonstandard cosmological history (e.g., multiple types of cosmic axion strings of different tensions), undermining the widespread expectation that the post-inflation QCD axion scenario predicts a unique mass for axion dark matter.

In the canonical tachyonic resonance preheating scenario, only an order one fraction of energy density in the inflaton is transferred to radiation, due to backreaction effects. One possible way to improve the energy transfer efficiency is to allow for the perturbative decays of the resonantly produced daughter particles, which serve as the "spillway" to drain the direct decay products from inflaton and to reduce the backreaction. In this article, we study two observational consequences of spillway preheating. The first is on the inflationary observables: the scalar spectrum tilt $n_s$ and tensor-to-scalar ratio $r$. The spillway scenario modifies the evolution of the equation of state between the end of inflation and the thermal big bang. As a result, it affects the time elapsed from inflation to the Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB), as well as the fits of inflationary models and their corresponding prediction for $n_s$ and $r$. We map out the equation of state by systematically scanning the parameter space of the spillway scenario, and show that the most efficient spillway scenario predicts a bluer spectrum, compared to the tachyonic preheating scenario. Another consequence is the production of high-frequency gravitational waves (GWs). Comparing the simulation results with those of tachyonic preheating, we find that the existence of spillways leads to sharper-peaked GW spectra with a mildly damped amplitude.

Our results indicate that some of $λ-$mode $P-$wave bottom-charmed baryons are relatively narrow, which can be searched for in future experiments. For the low-lying $ρ-$mode and $ρ-λ$ hybrid states, their strong decays are highly suppressed and they can survive as extremely narrow states. Moreover, the mass spectra and strong decays for bottom-charmed baryons preserve the heavy quark symmetry well. We hope our calculations can provide helpful information for further experimental and theoretical researches.

Curvatons are light (compared to the Hubble scale during inflation) spectator fields during inflation that potentially contribute to adiabatic curvature perturbations post-inflation. They can alter CMB observables such as the spectral index $n_s$, the tensor-to-scalar ratio $r$, and the local non-Gaussianity $\;f_{\rm NL}^{\rm (loc)}$. We systematically explore the observable space of a curvaton with a quadratic potential. We find that when the underlying inflation model does not satisfy the $n_s$ and $r$ observational constraints but can be made viable with a significant contribution from what we call a savior curvaton, a large $\;f_{\rm NL}^{\rm (loc)}$ is inevitable. On the other hand, when the underlying inflation model already satisfies the $n_s$ and $r$ observational constraints, so significant curvaton contribution is forbidden, a large $\;f_{\rm NL}^{\rm (loc)}$ is possible in the exceptional case when the isocurvature fluctuation in the curvaton fluid is much greater than the global curvature fluctuation.

It was recently shown that domain walls from the spontaneous breaking of CP symmetry are exactly stable, and must be inflated away to recover a viable cosmology. We investigate the phenomenological implications of this result in Nelson--Barr solutions of the strong CP problem. Combined with the upper bound on the scale of spontaneous CP breaking necessary to suppress contributions from dangerous, nonrenormalizable operators to $\barθ$, this puts an upper bound on the scale of inflation and the reheating temperature after inflation. Minimal Nelson--Barr models are therefore in tension with thermal leptogenesis, models of large-field inflation, or potential future observations of signals from topological remnants of an unrelated, subsequent phase transition. We study how extending Nelson--Barr models with a new, continuous chiral gauge symmetry can ameliorate this tension by forbidding the dangerous dimension-five operators. In particular, we show that gauging a linear combination of baryon number and hypercharge allows for an economic, anomaly-free extension of the minimal Nelson--Barr model, and discuss the phenomenological implications.

A muon collider would be a powerful probe of flavor violation in new physics. There is a strong complementary case for collider measurements and precision low-energy probes of lepton flavor violation (as well as CP violation). We illustrate this by studying the collider reach in a supersymmetric scenario with flavor-violating slepton mixing. We find that the collider could discover sleptons and measure the slepton and neutralino masses with high precision, enabling event reconstruction that could cleanly separate flavor-violating new physics signals from Standard Model backgrounds. The discovery reach of a high-energy muon collider would cover a comparably large, and overlap**, range of parameter space to future $μ\to e$ conversion and electron EDM experiments, and unlike precision experiments could immediately shed light on the nature of new physics responsible for flavor violation. This complementarity strengthens the case that a muon collider could be an ideal energy-frontier laboratory in the search for physics beyond the Standard Model.

In the path towards a muon collider with center of mass energy of 10 TeV or more, a stage at 3 TeV emerges as an appealing option. Reviewing the physics potential of such muon collider is the main purpose of this document. In order to outline the progression of the physics performances across the stages, a few sensitivity projections for higher energy are also presented. There are many opportunities for probing new physics at a 3 TeV muon collider. Some of them are in common with the extensively documented physics case of the CLIC 3 TeV energy stage, and include measuring the Higgs trilinear coupling and testing the possible composite nature of the Higgs boson and of the top quark at the 20 TeV scale. Other opportunities are unique of a 3 TeV muon collider, and stem from the fact that muons are collided rather than electrons. This is exemplified by studying the potential to explore the microscopic origin of the current $g$-2 and $B$-physics anomalies, which are both related with muons.

Considering the newly observed $Ω(2012)$ resonance as a conventional $1P$-wave $Ω$ excite state with spin-parity $J^P=3/2^-$, the newly measured ratio $\mathcal{B}[Ω_c\to Ω(2012)π^+ \to (Ξ\bar{K})^-π^+ ]/\mathcal{B}[Ω_c\to Ωπ^+]$ at Belle can be well understood. Besides, the production rates for the missing $1P-$wave state $Ω(1^2P_{1/2^-})$, two spin quartet $1D-$wave states $Ω(1^4D_{1/2^+})$ and $Ω(1^4D_{3/2^+})$, and two $2S$-wave states $Ω(2^2S_{1/2^+})$ and $Ω(2^4S_{3/2^+})$ are also investigated. It is expected that these missing excited $Ω$ baryons should have large potentials to be discovered through the nonleptonic weak decays of $Ω_c$ in forthcoming experiments by Belle II and/or LHCb.

The $D_{s0}(2590)^{+}$ resonance observed by LHCb Collaboration is a strong candidate of the $D_{s}(2^1S_0)$ state according to its spin parity and strong decay mode. However, the measured mass seems relatively lower than the previous theoretical predictions, which interests the coupled channel interpretations in the literature. In this work, we adopt an alternate approach, taking into account the screening effects in the potential model, to describe the $D_{s0}(2590)^{+}$ resonance. The mass spectrum and strong decays of the excited charmed-strange mesons are investigated within the modified relativized quark model and $^3P_0$ model. The calculated mass and width of the $D_{s0}(2590)^{+}$ are consistent with the experimental observations, which indicate that it can be reasonably interpreted as the $D_{s}(2^{1}S_{0})$ state.

Very often they do not directly affect the density perturbations, but interact with other fields that do leave nontrivial signals in primordial perturbations. In this sense they become "missing scalars" at the cosmological collider. We study potentially observable signals of these missing scalars, focusing on a special example where a missing scalar distorts the usual oscillatory features in the squeezed bispectrum. The distortion is also a useful signal distinguishing the de Sitter background induced thermal mass from a constant intrinsic mass.

In this paper, we adopt an extended relativized quark model to investigate the triply-heavy tetrquarks systematically. The mass spectra are obtained by solving the four-body relativized Hamiltonian including the Coulomb potential, confining potential, spin-spin interactions, and relativistic corrections. We find that all of the triply-heavy tetraquarks lie above the corresponding meson-meson thresholds, and thus no stable one exists. In particular, besides the spin-spin interactions, the Coulomb and confining potentials also contribute to the mass splittings in the $cb\bar c \bar q$ and $cb\bar b \bar q$ systems. Moreover, the whole mass spectra for triply heavy tetraquarks show quite similar patterns, which preserve the light flavor SU(3) symmetry and heavy quark symmetry well. Through the fall-apart mechanism, the triply-heavy tetraquarks may easily decay into the heavy quarkonium plus heavy-light mesons, which are good candidates for investigation in future experiments.

For the low-lying $ρ$-mode and $ρ$-$λ$ hybrid states, the Okubo-Zweig-Iizuka-allowed strong decays are highly suppressed and they should be extremely narrow. We lay out a comprehensive physics case for a future high-energy muon collider, exploring a range of collision energies (from 1 to 100 TeV) and luminosities. We highlight the advantages of such a collider over proposed alternatives. We show how one can leverage both the point-like nature of the muons themselves as well as the cloud of electroweak radiation that surrounds the beam to blur the dichotomy between energy and precision in the search for new physics. The physics case is buttressed by a range of studies with applications to electroweak symmetry breaking, dark matter, and the naturalness of the weak scale. Furthermore, we make sharp connections with complementary experiments that are probing new physics effects using electric dipole moments, flavor violation, and gravitational waves. An extensive appendix provides cross section predictions as a function of the center-of-mass energy for many canonical simplified models.

Further, most of the $6_F$ multiplets are relatively narrow and may decay into the $Ξ_b π$, $Ξ_b^\prime π$, $Ξ_b^{\prime *} π$, and $Λ_b \bar K$ final states. Considering the masses and strong decay behaviors, we can assign the newly observed $Ξ_{b}(6100)$ resonance as the $Ξ_b(1P)$ state with $J^P=3/2^-$ and interpret the $Ξ_{b}(6227)$ structure as the $J^P=3/2^-$ $Ξ_b^\prime(1P)$ state with a proper mixing angle. In traditional models only an order one fraction of energy is transferred from the inflaton to radiation through nonperturbative resonance production in preheating immediately after inflation, due to backreaction effects. We propose a particle production mechanism that could improve the depletion of the inflaton energy density by up to four orders of magnitude. The improvement comes from the fast perturbative decays of resonantly produced daughter particles. They act as a "spillway" to drain these daughter particles, reducing their backreaction on the inflaton and kee** the resonant production effective for a longer period. Thus we dub the scenario "spillway preheating". We also show that the fraction of energy density remaining in the inflaton has a simple inverse power-law scaling in the scenario. In general, spillway preheating is a much more efficient energy dissipation mechanism, which may have other applications in model building for particle physics.

To explore the nature of $X_{0,1}(2900)$, except for analyzing their masses and decay widths as usually did in literatures, the study of their production mechanism in $B$-meson weak decays would provide another important information. The amplitude of $B^-\to D^- X_{0,1}$ is non-factorizable. We consider the final-state-interaction effects and calculate them via the rescattering mechanism. The measured branching fractions of $B^-\to D^- X_{0,1}$ are revealed. It is manifested by ${B}^-\to Λ_c^-Ξ_c^{(\prime)0}$ and $Λ_b^0\to P_c^+K^-$ that the rescattering mechanism can result in the relatively large branching fractions. The similar processes of $B^-\to π^-X_{0,1}$ are also analyzed. The isospins of $X_{0,1}$ can be investigated by $B\to DX_{0,1}^{\pm,0}$ decays.

The four-body relativized Hamiltonians including the Coulomb potential, confining potential, spin-spin interactions, and relativistic corrections are solved by using the variational method. It is found that the predicted masses of four $0^+$ $ud\bar s \bar c$ states are 2765, 3065, 3152, and 3396 MeV, which disfavor the assignment of the newly observed $X_0(2900)$ as a compact tetraquark. Moreover, the whole mass spectra of the open charm and bottom tetraquarks show quite similar patterns, which preserve the light flavor SU(3) symmetry and heavy quark symmetry well. In addition, our results suggest that the flavor exotic states $nn\bar s \bar c$, $nn\bar s \bar b$, $ss\bar n \bar c$, and $ss\bar n \bar b$ and their antiparticles can be searched in the heavy-light meson plus kaon final states by future experiments. Our results suggest that the $IJ^P=01^+$ $bb \bar u \bar d$ state is 54 MeV below the relevant $\bar B \bar B$ and $\bar B \bar B^*$ thresholds, which indicates that both strong and electromagnetic decays are forbidden, and thus this state can be a stable one. Three neutral resonances $Ξ_c(2923)^0$, $Ξ_c(2939)^0$ and $Ξ_c(2965)^0$ have been observed in the $Λ_c^+ K^-$ mass spectrum by the LHCb Collaboration. Given the $Ξ_c$ and $Ξ_c^\prime$ mass spectra predicted by the constituent quark models, these three resonances are tentatively treated as the $λ-$mode $Ξ_c(2S)$, $Ξ_c^\prime(2S)$, $Ξ_c^{\prime *}(2S)$, and $Ξ_c^\prime(1P)$ states, and their strong decay behaviors are calculated within the $^3P_0$ model. Our results indicate that the $Ξ_c(2923)^0$ and $Ξ_c(2939)^0$ can be clarified into the $J^P=3/2^-$ and $5/2^-$ $Ξ_c^\prime(1P)$ states respectively, and the $Ξ_c(2965)^0$ can be regarded as the $J^P=1/2^+$ $Ξ_c^\prime(2S)$ state. Also, we suggest that the previous observed $Ξ_c(2930)$ may be the overlap of two structures $Ξ_c(2923)$ and $Ξ_c(2939)$, and the $Ξ_c(2970)$ should be the same state as $Ξ_c(2965)$. Other theoretical information on the missing $Ξ_c(2S)$, $Ξ_c^{\prime *}(2S)$, and $Ξ_c^\prime(1P)$ states may be helpful for future experimental searches.

According to their masses and decay widths, the observed $Ω_b(6316)^-$, $Ω_b(6330)^-$, $Ω_b(6340)^-$, and $Ω_b(6350)^-$ resonances can be reasonably assigned as the $λ-$mode $Ω_b(1P)$ states with $J^P=1/2^-, 3/2^-, 3/2^-$, and $5/2^-$. Meanwhile, the remaining $P-$wave state with $J^P=1/2^-$ should have a rather broad width, which can hardly be observed by experiments. For the $Ω_b(2S)$ and $Ω_b(1D)$ states, our predictions show that these states have relatively narrow total widths and mainly decay into the $Ξ_b \bar K$, $Ξ_b^\prime \bar K$ and $Ξ_b^{\prime*} \bar K$ final states. These abundant theoretical predictions may be valuable for searching more excited $Ω_b$ states in future experiments.

Combining the recent developments of the observations of $Ω$ sates we calculate the $Ω$ spectrum up to the $N=2$ shell within a nonrelativistic constituent quark potential model. Furthermore, the strong and radiative decay properties for the $Ω$ resonances within the $N=2$ shell are evaluated by using the masses and wave functions obtained from the potential model. It is found that the newly observed $Ω(2012)$ resonance is most likely to be the spin-parity $J^P=3/2^-$ $1P$-wave state $Ω(1^{2}P_{3/2^{-}})$, it also has a large potential to be observed in the $Ω(1672)γ$ channel. Our calculation shows that the 1$P$-, 1$D$-, and 2$S$-wave $Ω$ baryons have a relatively narrow decay width of less than 50 MeV. Based on the obtained decay properties and mass spectrum, we further suggest optimum channels and mass regions to find the missing $Ω$ resonances via the strong and/or radiative decay processes.

The $Y(10750)$ and $Υ(10860)$ resonances may correspond to the mixed states dominated by the $4D$- and $5S$-wave components, respectively. The mass and the strong decay behaviors of the $Υ(11020)$ resonance are consistent with the assignment of the $Υ(6S)$ state in the potential models.

Furthermore, using the wave functions from this model we calculate the radiative transitions between the $B_c$ states within a constituent quark model. For the higher mass $B_c$ states lying above $DB$ threshold, we also evaluate the Okubo-Zweig-Iizuka (OZI) allowed two-body strong decays with the $^{3}P_{0}$ model. Our study indicates that besides there are large potentials for the observations of the low-lying $B_c$ states below the $DB$ threshold via their radiative transitions, some higher mass $B_c$ states, such as $B_c(2^3P_2)$, $B_c(2^3D_1)$, $B_c(3^3D_1)$, $B_c(4^3P_0)$, and the $1F$-wave $B_c$ states, might be first observed in their dominant strong decay channels $DB$, $DB^*$ or $D^*B$ at the LHC for their relatively narrow widths.

It shows that the linear confining potential has important contributions to the masses and is crucial for our understanding of the mass spectra of the fully-heavy tetraquark systems. For the fully-heavy tetraquarks $Q_1Q_2\bar{Q}_3\bar{Q}_4$ our explicit calculations suggest that no bound states can be formed below the thresholds of any meson pairs $(Q_1\bar{Q}_3)$-$(Q_2\bar{Q}_4)$ or $(Q_1\bar{Q}_4)$-$(Q_2\bar{Q}_3)$. Thus, we do not expect narrow fully-heavy tetraquark states to be existing in experiments.

The ACME collaboration has recently announced a new constraint on the electron EDM, $|d_e| < 1.1 \times 10^{-29}\, e\, {\rm cm}$, from measurements of the ThO molecule. This is a powerful constraint on CP-violating new physics: even new physics generating the EDM at two loops is constrained at the multi-TeV scale. We interpret the bound in the context of different scenarios for new physics: a general order-of-magnitude analysis for both the electron EDM and the CP-odd electron-nucleon coupling; 1-loop SUSY, probing sleptons above 10 TeV; 2-loop SUSY, probing multi-TeV charginos or stops; and finally, new physics that generates the EDM via the charm quark or top quark Yukawa couplings. In the last scenario, new physics generates a "QULE operator" $(q_f \barσ^{μν}{\bar u}_f) \cdot (\ell {\barσ}_{μν} {\bar e})$, which in turn generates the EDM through RG evolution. If the QULE operator is generated at tree level, this corresponds to a previously studied leptoquark model. For the first time, we also classify scenarios in which the QULE operator is generated at one loop through a box diagram, which include SUSY and leptoquark models. The electron EDM bound is the leading constraint on a wide variety of theories of CP-violating new physics interacting with the Higgs boson or the top quark. We argue that any future nonzero measurement of an electron EDM will provide a strong motivation for constructing new colliders at the highest feasible energies.
