An analytic calculation is given for binary star evaporation under the tidal perturbation from randomly distributed, spatially extended dark objects. In particular, the Milky Way's wide binary star population are susceptible to such disruption from dark matter solitons of comparable and larger sizes. We identify high-probability `halo-like' wide binaries in GAIA EDR3 with separations larger than 0.1 parsec. Survival of the farthest-separated candidates will provide a novel gravitational probe to dark matter in the form of solitons. In case of dilute axion-like solitons, the observational sensitivity is shown to extend into the axion mass range $m_a \sim 10^{-17}-10^{-15}$ eV.

In this paper, we demonstrate the cryogenic readout system calibration of a 7.138 GHz copper cavity with a loaded quality factor $Q_l=10^4$, operated at 22 mK temperature based on a dilution refrigerator. Our readout system consists of High Electron Mobility Transistors as cryogenic amplifiers at 4 K, plus room-temperature amplifiers and a spectrum analyzer for signal power detection. We test the system with a superconducting two-level system as a single-photon source in the microwave frequency regime and report an overall 95.6 dB system gain and -71.4 dB attenuation in the cavity's input channel. The effective noise temperature of the measurement system is 7.5 K.

The dark photon is a promising candidate for the dark matter which comprises most of the matter in our visible Universe. Via kinetic mixing with the Standard Model it can also be resonantly converted to photons in an electromagnetic cavity, offering novel experimental possibilities for the discovery and study of dark matter. We report the results of a pathfinder dark photon dark matter cavity search experiment performed at Hunan Normal University and the Institute of Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, representing the first stage of the APEX (Axion and dark Photon EXperiment) program. Finding no statistically significant excess, we place an upper limit on the kinetic mixing parameter $|χ|<3.7\times 10^{-13}$ around $m_A\simeq 29.5$ $μ$eV at 90% confidence level. This result exceeds other constraints on dark photon dark matter in this frequency range by roughly an order of magnitude.

We explore the new physics phenomena of gravidynamics governed by the inhomogeneous spin gauge symmetry based on the gravitational quantum field theory. Such a gravidynamics enables us to derive the generalized Einstein equation and an equation beyond it. To simplify the analyses, we linearize the dynamic equations of gravitational interaction by kee** terms up to the leading order in the dual gravigauge field. We then apply the linearized dynamic equations into two particular gravitational phenomena. First, we consider the linearized equations in the absence of source fields, which is shown to have five physical propagating polarizations as gravitational waves, i.e., two tensor modes, two vector modes, and one scalar, instead of two tensor polarizations in the general relativity. Second, we examine the Newtonian limit in which the gravitational fields and the matter source distribution are weak and static. By deriving the associated Poisson equation, we obtain the exact relation of the fundamental interaction coupling in the gravidynamics with the experimentally measured Newtonian constant. We also make use of nonrelativistic objects and relativistic photons to probe the Newtonian field configurations. In particular, the experiments from the gravitational deflection of light rays and the Shapiro time delay can place stringent constraints on the linearized gravidynamics in the gravitational quantum field theory.

We report a first study of the semileptonic decay $D^0\rightarrow K^-π^0μ^{+}ν_μ$ by analyzing an $e^+e^-$ annihilation data sample of $7.9~\mathrm{fb}^{-1}$ collected at the center-of-mass energy of 3.773 GeV with the BESIII detector. The absolute branching fraction of $D^0\to K^-π^0μ^{+}ν_μ$ is measured for the first time to be $(0.729 \pm 0.014_{\rm stat} \pm 0.011_{\rm syst})\%$. Based on an amplitude analysis, the $S\text{-}{\rm wave}$ contribution is determined to be $(5.76 \pm 0.35_{\rm stat} \pm 0.29_{\rm syst})\%$ of the total decay rate in addition to the dominated $K^{*}(892)^-$ component. The branching fraction of $D^0\to K^{*}(892)^-μ^+ν_μ$ is given to be $(2.062 \pm 0.039_{\rm stat} \pm 0.032_{\rm syst})\%$, which improves the precision of the world average by a factor of 5. Combining with the world average of ${\mathcal B}(D^0\to K^{*}(892)^-e^+ν_e)$, the ratio of the branching fractions obtained is $\frac{{\mathcal B}(D^0\to K^{*}(892)^-μ^+ν_μ)}{{\mathcal B}(D^0\to K^{*}(892)^-e^+ν_e)} = 0.96\pm0.08$, in agreement with lepton flavor universality. Furthermore, assuming single-pole dominance parameterization, the most precise hadronic form factor ratios for $D^0\to K^{*}(892)^{-} μ^+ν_μ$ are extracted to be $r_{V}=V(0)/A_1(0)=1.37 \pm 0.09_{\rm stat} \pm 0.03_{\rm syst}$ and $r_{2}=A_2(0)/A_1(0)=0.76 \pm 0.06_{\rm stat} \pm 0.02_{\rm syst}$.

The transverse polarization of $Λ$ hyperon within reconstructed jets in hadronic collisions offers a complementary platform to probe the polarized fragmentation function $D_{1T}^\perp$. We illustrate that by performing a global analysis of the transverse polarization of $Λ$ hyperons produced in different kinematic regions and in different hadronic collisions, such as $pp$, $p\bar p$, $pA$, and $γA$ collisions, we can pin down the flavor dependence of $D_{1T}^\perp$ which has been poorly constrained. Besides the single inclusive jet production, the $γ/Z^0$-boson associated jet production supplements with more capability in removing ambiguities in the flavor dependence of $D_{1T}^\perp$.

The energy released from dark matter annihilation leads to additional ionization and heating of the intergalactic gas and thereby impact the hydrogen 21-cm signal during the cosmic dawn. The dark matter annihilation rate scales as density-squared and it becomes inhomogeneously boosted along with structure formation. This paper examines the inhomogeneity in DM annihilation rate induced by the growth of DM halo structures, and we show that this effect can significantly enhance the spatial fluctuations in gas temperature, gas ionization fraction and consequently the 21-cm brightness temperature. Compared to previous homogeneous calculations, inhomogeneous dark matter annihilation can enhance the 21-cm power spectrum by orders of magnitude across the scales of $k \in [0.05, 3]\ {\rm{Mpc^{-1}}}$. For a DM annihilation rate of $\left<σv\right>/m_χ\sim 10^{-27} {\rm cm^3 s^{-1} GeV^{-1}}$, the corresponding signatures in the 21-cm power spectrum signal can be detected by upcoming radio observatories such as the SKA.

Coulomb-like interactions typically has a cross section scales with velocity dependence as $σ=σ_0 v^{-4}$. The momentum transfer rate between a slightly charged dark matter and ionized particles increases significantly at low velocity, and it produces prominent evaporation effects on small-sized dark matter overdensities. We show that when subhalos encounter the hot gases near the Milky Way's disc, their survival can place stringent limits on Coulomb-like scattering strength. For $M<10^5 M_\odot$ subhalos to survive a kilo-parsec distance from the galactic center, with a dark matter mass in the sub-GeV range, the evaporation limit becomes one order of magnitude stronger than the limits from current cosmic microwave background and baryon acoustic oscillation data. We also interpret our bounds into the electron-recoil direct detection cross section, and show that the evaporation effect can lead to a stronger constraint on Coulomb-like interaction for sub-MeV dark matter in comparison with direct detection experiments.

Several pulsar timing array (PTA) experiments such as NANOGrav and PPTA reported evidence of a gravitational wave background at the nano-Hz frequency band recently. This signal can originate from scalar-induced gravitational waves (SIGW) generated by the enhanced curvature perturbation. Here we perform a joint likelihood inference on PTA datasets, and our results show that if the PTA signals were indeed of SIGW origin, the curvature perturbations amplitude required will produce primordial black holes (PBHs) in $[2 \times 10^{-5}, 2 \times 10^{-2}]\ m_\odot$ mass range. Mergers of these PBHs can leave a strong gravitational wave signature in the $[10^{-3}, 10^8]$ Hz frequency range, to be detectable at upcoming interferometers such as the Einstein Telescope, DECIGO and BBO, etc. This offers a multi-frequency opportunity to further scrutinize the source of the observed PTA signal.

Strangeon stars can develop a strange quark matter (SQM) core at high densities, particularly in the color-flavor-locking phase, yielding a branch of hybrid strangeon stars. We explore the stellar structure and astrophysical implications of hybrid strangeon stars. We find that hybrid strangeon stars can meet various astrophysical constraints on pulsar masses, radii, and tidal deformabilities. Finally, we show that the strangeon-SQM mixed phase is not preferred if the charge-neutrality condition is imposed at the strangeon-SQM transition region.

Solid states of strange-cluster matter called strangeon matter can form strangeon stars that are highly compact. We show that strangeon matter and strangeon stars can be recast into dimensionless forms by a simple reparametrization and rescaling, through which we manage to maximally reduce the number of degrees of freedom. With this dimensionless scheme, we find that strangeon stars are generally compact enough to feature a photon sphere that is essential to foster gravitational-wave (GW) echoes. Rescaling the dimension back, we illustrate its implications on the expanded dimensional parameter space, and calculate the GW echo frequencies associated with strangeon stars, showing that the minimum echo frequency is $\sim 8$ kHz for empirical parameter space that satisfies the GW170817 constraint, and can reduce to $\mathcal O(100)$ Hertz at the extended limit.

Gravitational waves can generate electromagnetic effects inside a strong electric or magnetic field within the Standard Model and general relativity. Here we propose using a quarterly split cavity and LC(inductor and capacitor)-resonance circuit to detect a high-frequency gravitational wave from 0.1 MHz to GHz. We perform a full 3D simulation of the cavity's signal for sensitivity estimate. Our sensitivity depends on the coherence time scale of the high-frequency gravitational wave sources and the volume size of the split cavity. We discuss the resonant measurement schemes for narrow-band gravitational wave sources and also a non-resonance scheme for broadband signals. For a meter-sized split cavity under a 14 Tesla magnetic field, the LC resonance enhanced sensitivity to the gravitational wave strain is expected to reach $h\sim 10^{-20}$ around $10$ MHz.

Decays of unstable heavy particles usually involve the coherent sum of several amplitudes, like in a multiple slit experiment. Dedicated amplitude analysis techniques have been widely used to resolve these amplitudes for better understanding of the underlying dynamics. For special cases, where two spin-1/2 particles and two (pseudo-)scalar particles are present in the process, multiple equivalent solutions are found due to intrinsic symmetries in the summed probability density function. In this paper, the problem of multiple solutions is discussed and a scheme to overcome this problem is proposed by fixing some free parameters. Toys are generated to validate the strategy. A new approach to align helicities of initial- and final-state particles in different decay chains is also introduced.

In the Dark Matter (DM) direct detection community, the absence of convincing signals has become a "new normal" for decades. Among other possibilities, the "new normal" might indicate that DM-matter interactions could generate not only the hypothetical NR (Nuclear Recoil) events but also the ER (Electron Recoil) ones, which have often been tagged as backgrounds historically. Further, we argue that ER and NR-like DM signals could co-exist in a DM detector's same dataset. So in total, there would be three scenarios we can search for DM signals: (i) ER excess only, (ii) NR excess only, and (iii) ER and NR excesses combined. To effectively identify any possible DM signal under the three scenarios, a DM detector should (a) have the minimum ER and NR backgrounds and (b) be capable of discriminating ER events from NR ones. Accordingly, we introduce the newly established project, ALETHEIA, which implements liquid helium-filled TPCs (Time Projection Chambers) in hunting for DM. Thanks to the nearly single-digit number of ER and NR backgrounds on 1 ton*yr exposure, presumably, the ALETHEIA detectors could identify any form of DM-induced excess in its ROI (Research Of Interest). As far as we know, ALETHEIA is the first DM direct detection experiment claiming such an inclusive search; conventional detectors search DM mainly on the "ER excess only" and/or the "NR excess only" channel, not the "ER and NR excesses combined" channel.

Combining this result with the world average of ${\mathcal B}(Σ^- \to Λe^- \barν_{e})$ and the lifetimes of $Σ^{\pm}$, the ratio, $\frac{Γ(Σ^- \to Λe^- \barν_{e})}{Γ(Σ^+ \to Λe^+ ν_{e})}$, is determined to be $1.06 \pm 0.28$, which is within 1.8 standard deviations of the value expected in the absence of second-class currents that are forbidden in the Standard Model.

Four-particle vertices in new physics allow triangular singularity diagrams to evade large virtuality suppression. In addition, a $t$-channel triangular singularity can also occur in particle scattering processes that may extend to low momentum exchange. We discuss several typical scenarios in supersymmetric and extended Higgs models, then identify the singular component in the loop-integral amplitude at specific external momentum points.

Making use of the world-average branching fraction $\mathcal{B}(Λ_c^+\toΛπ^+π^0)$, their branching fractions are determined to be \begin{eqnarray*} \begin{aligned} \mathcal{B}(Λ_c^+\toΛρ(770)^+)=&(4.06\pm0.30\pm0.35\pm0.23)\times10^{-2},\\ \mathcal{B}(Λ_c^+\toΣ(1385)^+π^0)=&(5.86\pm0.49\pm0.52\pm0.35)\times10^{-3},\\ \mathcal{B}(Λ_c^+\toΣ(1385)^0π^+)=&(6.47\pm0.59\pm0.66\pm0.38)\times10^{-3},\\ \end{aligned} \end{eqnarray*} where the first uncertainties are statistical, the second are systematic, and the third are from the uncertainties of the branching fractions $\mathcal{B}(Λ_c^+\toΛπ^+π^0)$ and $\mathcal{B}(Σ(1385)\toΛπ)$. In addition, %according to amplitudes determined from the partial wave analysis, the decay asymmetry parameters are measured to be $α_{Λρ(770)^+}=-0.763\pm0.053\pm0.045$, $α_{Σ(1385)^{+}π^0}=-0.917\pm0.069\pm0.056$, and $α_{Σ(1385)^{0}π^+}=-0.789\pm0.098\pm0.056$.

We investigate the optimization of the photon polarization to increase the yield of the Breit-Wheeler pair production in arbitrarily polarized plane wave backgrounds. We show that the optimized photon polarization can improve the positron yield by more than $20\%$ compared to the unpolarized case, in the intensity regime of current laser-particle experiments. The seed photon's optimal polarization is resulting from the polarization coupling with the polarization of the laser pulse. The compact expressions of the coupling coefficients in both the perturbative and nonperturbative regime are given. Because of the evident difference in the coupling coefficients for the linear and circular polarization components, the seed photon's optimal polarization state in an elliptically polarized laser background, deviates considerably from the orthogonal state of the laser polarization.

The oscillating light axion field is known as wave dark matter. We propose an LC-resonance enhanced detection of the narrow band electric signals induced by the axion dark matter using a solenoid magnet facility. We provide full 3D electromagnetic simulation results for the signal electric field. The electric signal is enhanced by the high $Q$-factor of a resonant LC circuit and then amplified and detected by the state-of-the-art cryogenic electrical transport measurement technique. The cryogenic amplifier noise is the dominant noise source in the proposed detection system. We estimate that the detection system can have a promising sensitivity to axion dark matter with mass below $10^{-6}$ eV. The projected sensitivities improve with the size of the magnetic field, and the electric signal measurement can be potentially sensitive to the quantum chromodynamics (QCD) axion with $g_{aγ} \sim 10^{-16}$ GeV$^{-1}$ around $m_a \sim 10^{-8}$eV, with a multi-meter scale magnetized region. This limit is around five orders of magnitude below the current constraint from the cosmic rays.

We explore the axionic dark matter search sensitivity with a narrow-band detection scheme aiming at the axion-photon conversion by the static electric field inside a cylindrical capacitor. An alternating magnetic field signal is induced by effective currents as the axion dark matter flows perpendicularly through the electric field. At low axion masses, like in a KKLT scenario, front-end narrow band filtering is provided by using LC resonance with a high $Q$ factor, which enhances the detectability of the tiny magnetic field signal and also leads to a thermal noise as the major background that can be reduced at cryogenic conditions. We demonstrate that high $g_{aγ}$ sensitivity can be achieved by using a strong electric field. The QCD axion theoretical parameter space can be reached with high $E\sim$ GVm$^{-1}$ field strength. Using the static electric field scheme essentially avoids exposing the sensitive superconducting pickup to an applied laboratory magnetic field.

We propose a dual-path interferometry amplification configuration in cavity axion dark matter searches. We show quantum-mechanically that in a low-temperature cavity permeated by a magnetic field, the single axion-photon conversion rate is enhanced by the cavity quality factor $Q$ and quantitatively larger than the classical result by a factor $π/2$. Under modern cryogenic conditions, thermal photons in the cavity are negligible; thus, the axion cavity can be considered a quantum device emitting single photons with temporal separations. This differs from the classical picture in which axions transition in batches and the converted energy accumulates in the electromagnetic field inside the cavity. It reveals a possibility for the axion cavity experiment to handle the signal sensitivity at the quantum level, e.g., cross-power and second-order correlation measurements. The correlation of photon field quadratures in the amplification chain within current technology enhances the signal-to-noise ratio compared with a single-path amplification scheme based on a high electronic mobility transistor amplifier or Josephson Parametric Amplifiers (JPAs). In particular, it is useful to combine the dual-path interferometry scheme with other techniques, e.g., JPAs, to overcome the inevitable microwave signal insertion loss (normally $\sim-3\,$dB) in the channels between the cavity and the quantum-limited amplifiers. This enhancement would greatly reduce the signal scanning time to improve the sensitivity of the axion-photon coupling. In addition, the second-order correlation function measurement in the dual-path scheme can provide an additional verification of whether the candidate signals are axion converted or other noises.

Transverse momentum spectra of direct (prompt) photons from two-body processes in high-energy proton-proton (p+p) collisions are analyzed in this paper. We collected the experimental invariant cross-sections at mid-rapidity in p+p collisions measured by the UA6, CCOR, R806, R110, PHENIX, NA24, CMS, ALICE, and ATLAS Collaborations over a center-of-mass energy range from 24.3 GeV to 13 TeV. In fitting the data, we used different kinds of functions which include the revised Tsallis--Pareto-type function (the TP-like function) at the particle level, the convolution of two TP-like functions at the quark level, and the root-sum-of-squares of two revised Tsallis-like functions in which the quark chemical potentials $μ_i=μ_B/3$ or $μ_i=0$, where $μ_B$ is the baryon chemical potential. We have extracted the values of three main free parameters: the effective temperature $T$, power index $n_0$ (or entropy index $q$), and correction index $a_0$. After analyzing the changing trends of the parameters, we found that $T$, $q$, and $a_0$ increase and $n_0$ decreases with the increase of collision energy. Based on the analyses of transverse momentum spectra, an energy independent scaling, i.e. the $x_T$ scaling, is obtained.

We collected the transverse momentum (mass) spectra of charged hadrons ($π^{-}$, $π^{+}$, $K^{-}$, $K^{+}$, $\overline{p}$, and $p$) produced in collisions over a center-of-mass energy range from 2.70 to 200 GeV (per nucleon pair). The modified Tsallis--Pareto-type function (the TP-like function) with average transverse flow velocity is used to describe the contribution of participant or constituent quarks to transverse momentum of considered hadron. The experimental spectra of $π^{\mp}$ and $K^{\mp}$ (or $\overline{p}$ and $p$) are fitted by the convolution of two (or three) TP-like functions due to the fact that two (or three) constituent quarks are regarded as two (or three) energy resources in the formation of considered hadron. From the reasonable fits to the spectra, the thermal freeze-out parameters are extracted, and the pseudo-entropy is newly defined and extracted. Some parameters quickly change in the energy range of less than 7.7 GeV, and slowly change in the energy range of greater than 7.7 GeV, indicating the variation of collision mechanism at around 7.7 GeV.

The large gap between a galactic dark matter subhalo's velocity and its own gravitational binding velocity creates the situation that small subhalos can be evaporated before dark matter thermalize with baryons due to the low binding velocity. In case dark matter acquires an electromagnetic dipole moment, the survival of low-mass subhalos requires stringent limits on the photon-mediated soft scattering. The current stringent direct detection limits indicate for a small dipole moment, which lets DM decouple early and allows small subhalos to form. We calculate the DM kinetic decoupling temperature in the Early Universe and evaluate the smallest protohalo mass. In the late Universe, low-mass subhalos can be evaporated via soft collision by ionized gas and accelerated cosmic rays. We calculate the subhalos evaporation rate and show that subhalos lighter than $10^{-5}M_{\odot}$ in the gaseous inner galactic region are subject to evaporation via dark matter's effective electric and magnetic dipole moments below current direct detection limits, which potentially affects the low-mass subhalos distribution in the galactic center.

Neutron stars (NSs) in scalar-tensor theories of gravitation with the phenomenon of spontaneous scalarization can develop significant deviations from general relativity. Cases with a massless scalar were studied widely. Here we compare the NS scalarizations in the Damour--Esposito-Far{è}se theory, the Mendes-Ortiz theory, and the $ξ$-theory with a massive scalar field. Numerical solutions for slowly rotating NSs are obtained. They are used to construct the X-ray pulse profiles of a pair of extended hot spots on the surface of NSs. We also calculate the tidal deformability for NSs with spontaneous scalarization which is done for the first time with a massive scalar field. We show the universal relation between the moment of inertia and the tidal deformability. The X-ray pulse profiles, the tidal deformability, and the universal relation may help to constrain the massive scalar-tensor theories in X-ray and gravitational-wave observations of NSs, including the Neutron star Interior Composition Explorer (NICER) satellite, Square Kilometre Array (SKA) telescope, and LIGO/Virgo/KAGRA laser interferometers.

The strong interactions at low energy scales determine the state of the supranuclear matter in the pulsar-like compact objects. It is proposed that the bulk strong matter could be composed of strangeons, which are quark clusters with a nearly equal number of three light-flavor quarks. In this work, to characterize the strong-repulsive interactions at short distances and the non-relativistic nature of the strangeons, the Lennard-Jones model is used to describe the equation of state (EoS) of strangeon stars (SSs). We investigate the static, the slowly rotating, and the tidally deformed SSs in detail. The corrections resulted from the finite surface densities are considered crucially in the perturbative approaches. We also study the universal relations between the moments of inertia, the tidal deformabilities, and the quadrupole moments. Those results are ready to be used for various purposes in astrophysics, and possible constraints from contemporary observations on the parameter space of the Lennard-Jones model are discussed. Future observations of the pulsars' radio signals, the X-ray emissions from the hot spots on the surface of the stars, and the gravitational waves (GWs) from binary mergers can give tighter constraints or even verify or falsify the existence of SSs.

Hawking radiation from primordial black holes (PBH) can ionize and heat up neutral gas during the cosmic dark ages, leaving imprints on the global 21-cm signal of neutral hydrogen. We use the global 21-cm signal to constrain the abundance of spinning PBHs in mass range of $[2 \times 10^{13}, 10^{18}]$ grams. We consider several extended PBH distribution models. Our results show that 21-cm can set the most stringent PBH bounds in our mass window. Compared with constraints set by {\it Planck} cosmic microwave background (CMB) data, 21-cm limits are more stringent by about two orders of magnitudes. PBHs with higher spin are typically more strongly constrained. Our 21-cm constraints for the monochromatic mass distribution rule out spinless PBHs with initial mass below $1.5 \times 10^{17}\ rg$, whereas extreme Kerr PBHs with reduced initial spin of $a_0=0.999$ are excluded as the dominant dark matter component for masses below $6 \times 10^{17}\ rg$. We also derived limits for the log-normal, power-law and critical collapse PBH mass distributions.

Combining this result with the world average of ${\mathcal B}(Λ\to p e^- \barν_{e})$, we obtain the ratio, $\frac{Γ(Λ\to p μ^- \barν_μ)}{Γ(Λ\to p e^- \barν_{e})}$, to be $0.178 \pm 0.028$, which agrees with the standard model prediction assuming lepton flavor universality. The asymmetry of the branching fractions of $Λ\to p μ^- \barν_μ$ and $\barΛ \to \bar{p} μ^+ ν_μ$ is also determined, and no evidence for $CP$ violation is found.

From the amplitude analysis, the $K^*(892)^+ K_S^0$ component is found to be dominant with a fraction of $(57.1\pm2.6\pm4.2)\%$, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic. In combination with the absolute branching fraction $\mathcal{B}(D^+\to K^+ K_S^0 π^0)$ measured by BESIII, we obtain $\mathcal{B}(D^+\to K^*(892)^+ K_S^0)=(8.69\pm0.40\pm0.64\pm0.51)\times10^{-3}$, where the third uncertainty is due to the branching fraction $\mathcal{B}(D^+\to K^+ K_S^0 π^0)$. The precision of this result is significantly improved compared to the previous measurement.

This paper investigates the $e^-e^+\to Zh_1$ sensitivity for Higgs boson's rare decay into heavy neutrinos $h_1 \to NN$ at the proposed electron-positron collider, with the focus on multi-lepton final states that contain same-sign lepton pairs. $h_1 \to NN$ decay can derive from Higgs boson's mixing with new physics scalar(s) that is complementary to the contribution from active-sterile neutrino mixings. We consider the scenario with a singlet scalar which gives the heavy neutrino mass and has a small mixing with the SM Higgs boson. We analyze the semileptonic, fully leptonic and mixed $NN$ decay scenarios, and categorize the signal on the number of leptons in the final state: $ \ell^\pm \ell^\pm$ with at least 3 jets, $\ell^\pm \ell^\pm \ell$ with at least 2 jets, and $e^\pm e^\pm μ^\mp μ^\mp$ plus with at least 1 jet, each containing one or two same-sign dilepton system(s). Selection cuts are optimized for the presence of the associated $Z$-boson, which leads to additional backgrounds at the $e^-e^+$ collider. The Standard Model background channels are systematically analyzed. Sensitivity limits on $h_1 \rightarrow NN$ branching fractions are derived for signals with 2-4 final leptons assuming the heavy neutrino masses are between 10 and 60 GeV. With 240 GeV center-of-mass energy and 5.6 ab$^{-1}$ design luminosity, $h_1 \rightarrow NN$ branching fraction can be probed to $2\times 10^{-4}$ in $2\ell$ and $3\ell$ channels, and $6\times 10^{-4}$ in the $4\ell$ channel at $95\%$ confidence level. $3\ell, 4\ell$ channels expect one or fewer background event, and their sensitivities saturate the statistic limit at 5.6 ab$^{-1}$ luminosity. A same-sign trilepton ($\ell^\pm \ell^\pm \ell^\pm$) signal in the $3\ell$ channel is also discussed. Our search strategy provides an approach to discovering the singlet scalar and exploring the origin of neutrino masses at future $e^-e^+$ colliders.

Aiming at testing Lorentz invariance with observations of continuous gravitational waves (GWs) from rotating NSs in the future, we compare the GW spectra of a rotating ellipsoidal NS under Lorentz-violating gravity with those of a Lorentz-invariant one. The former are found to possess frequency components higher than the second harmonic, which does not happen for the latter, indicating those higher frequency components to be potential signatures of Lorentz violation in continuous GW spectra of rotating NSs.

Cosmological axions/axion-like particles can compose a significant part of dark matter; however, the uncertainty of their mass is large. Here, we propose to search the axions using a cylindrical capacitor, in which the static electric field converts dark matter axions into an oscillating magnetic field. Due to the odd CPs, the axions couple to the electric field differently compared to the magnetic field. The axion couples to the electric field via a derivative that carries spatial information of incoming dark matter flux, while the coupling to the magnetic field depends on the dark matter density. This difference could be helpful in searching the axions and studies of the integrity of the theory, especially when the axions are very light, in which case the magnetic field-induced signal is DC-like. Orientation dependence could also be used to reduce the kinetic fluctuation-induced noise when multiple detectors operate simultaneously. In addition, a cylindrical setup shields the electric field to the laboratory and encompasses the axion-induced magnetic field within the capacitor. The induced oscillating magnetic field can then be picked up by a sensitive magnetometer. Adding a superconductor ring-coil system into the scheme can further boost the sensitivity and maintain the axion dark matter inherent bandwidth. This proposed setup could be capable of wide mass range searches.

Abstract:
We have derived the tensor amplitudes for partial wave analysis of $ψ\toΔ\barΔ$, $Δ\to p π$ within the helicity frame, as well as the amplitudes for the other decay sequences with same final states. These formulae are practical for the experiments measuring $ψ$ decaying into $p \bar{p}π^+ π^-$ final states, such as BESIII with its recently collected huge $J/ψ$ and $ψ(2S)$ data samples.

The Standard-Model Extension (SME) is an effective-field-theoretic framework that catalogs all Lorentz-violating field operators. The anisotropic correction from the minimal gravitational SME to Newtonian gravitational energy for spheroids is studied, and the rotation of rigid spheroids is solved with perturbation method and numerical approach. The well-known forced precession solution given by Nordtvedt in the parameterized post-Newtonian formalism is recovered and applied to two observed solitary millisecond pulsars to set bounds on the coefficients for Lorentz violation in the SME framework. A different solution, which describes the rotation of an otherwise free-precessing star in the presence of Lorentz violation, is found, and its consequences on pulsar signals and continuous gravitational waves (GWs) emitted by neutron stars (NSs) are investigated. The study provides new possible tests of Lorentz violation once free-precessing NSs are firmly identified in the future.

Cascade of particles injected as Hawking Radiation from Primordial Black Holes (PBH) can potentially change the cosmic recombination history by ionizing and heating the intergalactic medium, which results in altering the anisotropy spectra of the Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB). In this paper, we study the expected sensitivity of several future CMB experiments in constraining the abundance of PBHs distributed in $10^{15}\sim10^{17}$ g mass window according to four mass functions: the monochromatic, log-normal, power-law and critical collapse models. Our result shows that future experiments, such as CMB-S4 and PICO, can improve current {\it{Planck}} bounds by about two orders of magnitudes. All regions in PBH parameter space that are allowed by current CMB data, including monochromatically distributed PBHs with mass heavier than $4 \times 10^{16}$ grams, can be excluded by upcoming missions with high significance.
