As illustrative cases to reveal the important role played by the coupled channels, we focus on the $φ$p and $ρ^0$p systems given their complex dynamics and the presence of quasi-bound states or resonances in the vicinity of their thresholds. We show that the $φ$p femtoscopic data provide novel information about a $N^*$ state present in the experimental region and anticipate the relevance of a future $ρ^0$p correlation function measurement in order to pin down the $S=0, Q=+1$ vector meson-baryon interaction as well as to disclose the characterizing features of the $N^*(1700)$ state.

We present a detailed study of the lowest-lying ${\frac{1}{2}}^-$ and ${\frac{3}{2}}^-$ $Λ_{Q}$ resonances both in the heavy quark (bottom and charm) and the strange sectors. We have paid special attention to the interplay between the constituent quark-model and chiral baryon-meson degrees of freedom, which are coupled using a unitarized scheme consistent with leading-order heavy quark symmetries. We show that the $Λ_b(5912)$ [$J^P=1/2^-$], $Λ_b(5920)$ [$J^P=3/2^-$] and the $Λ_c(2625)$ [$J^P=3/2^-$], and the $Λ(1520)$ [$J^P=3/2^-$] admitting larger breaking corrections, are heavy-quark spin-flavor siblings. They can be seen as dressed quark-model states with $Σ_{Q}^{(*)}π$ molecular components of the order of 30\%. The ${J^P=\frac{1}{2}}^-$ $Λ_c(2595)$ has, however, a higher molecular probability of at least $50$\%, and even values greater than 70\% can be easily accommodated. This is because it is located almost on top of the threshold of the $Σ_cπ$ pair, which largely influences its properties. Although the light degrees of freedom in this resonance would be coupled to spin-parity $1^-$ as in the $Λ_b(5912)$, $Λ_b(5920)$ and $Λ_c(2625)$, the $Λ_c(2595)$ should not be considered as a heavy-quark spin-flavor partner of the former ones. We also show that the $Λ(1405)$ chiral two-pole pattern does not have analogs in the $\frac{1}{2}^-$ charmed and bottomed sectors, because the $ND^{(*)}$ and $N\overline{B}{}^{(*)} $ channels do not play for heavy quarks the decisive role that the $N \overline{K}$ does in the strange sector, and the notable influence of the bare quark-model states for the charm and bottom resonances. Finally, we predict the existence of two $Λ_b(6070)$ and two $Λ_c(2765)$ heavy-quark spin and flavor sibling odd parity states.

We perform a study of the $B^{*+}B^0,B^{*0}B^+$ correlation functions using an extension of the local hidden gauge approach which provides the interaction from the exchange of light vector mesons and gives rise to a bound state of these components in $I=0$ with a binding energy of about $21$~MeV. After that, we face the inverse problem of determining the low energy observables, scattering length and effective range for each channel, the possible existence of a bound state, and, if found, the couplings of such a state to each $B^{*+}B^0,B^{*0}B^+$ component as well as the molecular probabilities of each of the channels. We use the bootstrap method to determine these magnitudes and find that, with errors in the correlation function typical of present experiments, we can determine all these magnitudes with acceptable precision. In addition, the size of the source function of the experiment from where the correlation functions are measured can be also determined with a high precision.

We study here the inverse problem of starting from the femtoscopic correlation functions of related channels and analyze them with an efficient tool to extract the maximum information possible on the interaction of the components of these channels, and the existence of possible bound states tied to this interaction. The method is flexible enough to accommodate non-molecular components and the effect of missing channels relevant for the interaction. We apply the method to realistic correlation functions for the $D^{*+}D^0$ and $D^{*0}D^+$ channels derived consistently from the properties of the $T_{cc}(3875)^+$ and find that we can extract the existence of a bound state, its nature as a molecular state of the $D^{*+}D^0$ and $D^{*0}D^+$ channels, the probabilities of each channel, as well as scattering lengths and effective ranges for the channels, together with the size of the source function, all of them with a relatively good precision.

We use a general framework that allows to have the $D^0 D^{*+}$, $D^+ D^{*0}$ components forming a molecular state, as well as a possible nonmolecular state or contributions from missing coupled channels. From the fits to the data we conclude that the state observed is clearly of molecular nature from the $D^0 D^{*+}$, $D^+ D^{*0}$ components and the possible contribution of a nonmolecular state or missing channels is smaller than 3\%, compatible with zero. We also determine that the state has isospin $I=0$ with a minor isospin breaking from the different masses of the channels involved, and the probabilities of the $D^0 D^{*+}$, $D^+ D^{*0}$ channels are of the order of 69\% and 29\% with uncertainties of 1\%. The differences between these probabilities should not be interpreted as a measure of the isospin violation. Due to the short range of the strong interaction where the isospin is manifested, the isospin nature is provided by the couplings of the state found to the $D^0 D^{*+}$, $D^+ D^{*0}$ components, and our results for these couplings indicate that we have an $I=0$ state with a very small isospin breaking. We also find that the potential obtained provides a repulsive interaction in $I=1$, preventing the formation of an $I=1$ state, in agreement with what is observed in the experiment.

We have conducted a study of the femtoscopic correlation functions for the $D^0D^{*+}$ and $D^+D^{*0}$ channels that build the $T_{cc}$ state. We develop a formalism that allows us to factorize the scattering amplitudes outside the integrals in the formulas, and the integrals involve the range of the strong interaction explicitly. For a source of size of 1 fm, we find values for the correlation functions of the $D^0 D^{*+}$ and $D^+D^{*0}$ channels at the origin around 30 and 2.5, respectively, and we see these observables converging to unity already for relative momenta of the order of 200 MeV. We conduct tests to see the relevance of the different contributions to the correlation function and find that it mostly provides information on the scattering length, since the presence of the source function in the correlation function introduces an effective cut in the loop integrals that makes them quite insensitive to the range of the interaction.

We have studied the meson-baryon interaction in the neutral $S=-2$ sector using an extended Unitarized Chiral Perturbation Theory, which takes into account not only the leading Weinberg-Tomozawa term (as all the previous studies in $S=-2$ sector), but also the Born terms and next-to-leading order contribution. Based on the SU(3) symmetry of the chiral Lagrangian we took most of the model parameters from the BCN model \cite{Feijoo:2018den}, where these were fitted to a large amount of experimental data in the neutral $S=-1$ sector. We have shown that our approach is able to generate dynamically both $Ξ(1620)$ and $Ξ(1690)$ states in very reasonable agreement with the data, and can naturally explain the puzzle with the decay branching ratios of $Ξ(1690)$. Our results clearly illustrate the reliability of chiral models implementing unitarization in coupled channels and the importance of considering Born and NLO contributions for precise calculations.

The purpose of this work is to offer a complementary tool to see if the $X(3930)$ state observed in the $D^+ D^-$ channel is the same or not as the $X(3960)$ resonance claimed by the LHCb collaboration from a peak in the $D^{+}_s D^{-}_s$ mass distribution around threshold. We present results for what we expect in the $J/ψω$ mass distribution in the $B^- \to K^- J/ψω$ decay and conclude that a clear signal should be seen around $3930\,\rm MeV$. At the same time, finding no extra resonance signal at $3960\,\rm MeV$ would be a clear indication that there is not a new state at $3960\,\rm MeV$, supporting the hypothesis that the near-threshold peaking structure peak in the $D^{+}_s D^{-}_s$ mass distribution is only a manifestation of a resonance below threshold.

We consider the blocks of pseudoscalar-baryon $({\frac12}^+, {\frac32}^+)$ and vector-baryon $({\frac12}^+, {\frac32}^+)$, and find $10$ resonant states coupling mostly to $\bar D Ξ_c, \bar D^* Ξ_c,\bar D Ξ'_c, \bar D^* Ξ'_c,\bar D Ξ^*_c$ and $\bar D^* Ξ^*_c$. A novel aspect of the work is the realization that the $\bar D Ξ_c,\bar D_sΛ_c$ or $\bar D^* Ξ_c,\bar D^*_sΛ_c$ channels, with a strong transition potential, collaborate to produce a larger attraction than the corresponding states $\bar D Σ_c,\bar DΛ_c$ or $\bar D^* Σ_c,\bar D^*Λ_c$ appearing in the generation of the strangenessless $P_{c}$ states, since in the latter case the transition potential between those channels is zero. The extra attraction obtained in the $\bar D Ξ_c,\bar D^* Ξ_c$ pairs preclude the association of these channels to the $P_{cs}(4338)$ and $P_{cs}(4459)$ states respectively. Then we find a natural association of the $P_{cs}(4338)$ state coupling mostly to $\bar D^* Ξ_c$ while the $P_{cs}(4459)$ is associated to the state found that couples mostly to $\bar D Ξ'_c$. Four more states appear, like in other molecular pictures, and some of the states are degenerate in spin. Counting different spin states we find $10$ states, which we hope can be observed in the near future.

We study the interaction of meson-baryon coupled channels carrying quantum numbers of $Ω_{cc}$ , $Ω_{bb}$ and $Ω_{bc}$ presently under investigation by the LHCb collaboration. The interaction is obtained from an extension of the local hidden gauge approach to the heavy quark sector that has proved to provide accurate results compared to experiment in the case of $Ω_{c}$ , $Ξ_{c}$ states and pentaquarks, $P_c$ and $P_{cs}$. We obtain many bound states, with small decay widths within the space of the chosen coupled channels. The spin-parity of the states are $J^P={\frac{1}{2}}^-$ for coupled channels of pseudoscalar-baryon (${\frac{1}{2}}^+$), $J^P={\frac{3}{2}}^-$ for the case of pseudoscalar-baryon (${\frac{3}{2}}^+$), $J^P={\frac{1}{2}}^-,{\frac{3}{2}}^-$ for the case of vector-baryon (${\frac{1}{2}}^+$) and $J^P={\frac{1}{2}}^-,{\frac{3}{2}}^-,{\frac{5}{2}}^-$ for the vector-baryon (${\frac{3}{2}}^+$) channels. We look for poles of the states and evaluate the couplings to the different channels. The couplings obtained for the open channels can serve as a guide to see in which reaction the obtained states are more likely to be observed.

We present a chiral ${\bar K}N$ interaction model that has been developed and optimized in order to account for the experimental data of inelastic ${\bar K}N$ reaction channels that open at higher energies. In particular, we study the effect of the higher partial waves which originate directly from the chiral Lagrangian, as they could supersede the role of high-spin resonances employed in earlier phenomenological models to describe meson-baryon cross sections in the 2~GeV region. We present a detailed derivation of the partial wave amplitudes that emerge from the chiral SU(3) meson-baryon Lagrangian up to the d-waves and next-to-leading order in the chiral expansion. We implement a nonperturbative unitarization in coupled channels and optimize the model parameters to a large pool of experimental data in the relevant energy range where these new contributions are expected to be important. The obtained results are encouraging. They indicate the ability of the chiral higher partial waves to extend the description of the scattering data to higher energies and to account for structures in the reaction cross sections that cannot be accommodated by theoretical models limited to the s-waves.

The exciting discovery by LHCb of the $P_c(4312)^+$ and $P_c(4450)^+$ pentaquarks, or the suggestion of a tetraquark nature for the $Z_c(3900)$ state seen at BESIII and Belle, have triggered a lot of activity in the field of hadron physics, with new experiments planned for searching other exotic mesons and baryons, and many theoretical developments trying to disentangle the true multiquark nature from their possible molecular origin. After a brief review of the present status of these searches, this paper focusses on recently seen or yet to be discovered exotic heavy baryons that may emerge from a conveniently unitarized meson-baryon interaction model in coupled channels. In particular, we will show how interferences between the different coupled-channel amplitudes of the model may reveal the existence of a $N^*$ resonance around 2 GeV having a meson-baryon quasi-bound state nature. We also discuss the possible interpretation of some of the $Ω_c$ states recently discovered at LHCb as being hadron molecules. The model also predicts the existence of doubly-charmed quasibound meson-baryon $Ξ_{cc}$ states, which would be excited states of the ground-state $Ξ_{cc}(3621)$ MeV, whose mass has only been recently established. Extensions of these results to the bottom sector will also be presented.

The model is constrained by a large set of experimental data, paying a especial attention to processes that are sensitive to the NLO contributions, such as the $K^- p\to K^+Ξ^-, K^0Ξ^0$ reactions. The consideration of additional cross sections in single isospin channels, $K^-p\to ηΛ, ηΣ$, has been found to provide more homogeneous and reliable values of the low-energy constants, the stability of which has also been tested by the inclusion of explicit resonant terms. Predictions for new isospin filtering processes, like the $I=1$ $K^0_L p \to K^+ Ξ^0$ reaction that could be measured at the proposed secondary $K^0_L$ beam at Jlab, or the weak decay of the $Λ_b$ into a $J/Ψ$ and different meson-baryon pairs in $I=0$, available at LHCb, are presented. The measurement of such reactions would put valuable constraints on the chiral models describing the $S=-1$ meson-baryon interaction.

We explore the possibility that some of the five narrow $Ω_c$ resonances recently observed at LHCb could correspond to pentaquark states, structured as meson-baryon bound states or molecules. The interaction of the low-lying pseudoscalar mesons with the ground-state baryons in the charm $+1$, strangeness $-2$ and isospin 0 sector is built from t-channel vector meson exchange, using effective Lagrangians. The resulting s-wave coupled-channel unitarized amplitudes show the presence of two structures with similar masses and widths to those of the observed $Ω_c(3050)^0$ and $Ω_c(3090)^0$. The identification of these resonances with the meson-baryon bound states found in this work would also imply assigning the values $1/2^-$ for their spin-parity. An experimental determination of the spin-parity of the $Ω_c(3090)^0$ would help in disentangling its structure, as the quark-based models predict its spin-parity to be either $3/2^-$ or $5/2^-$.

We present a study of the $S=-1$ meson-baryon interaction, employing a chiral SU(3) Lagrangian up to next-to-leading order (NLO) and implementing unitarization in coupled channels. The parameters of the model have been fitted to a large set of experimental scattering data in different two-body channels, to threshold branching ratios, and to the precise SIDDHARTA value of the energy shift and width of kaonic hidrogen. In contrast to other groups, we have taken into consideration the $K^- p\to K^+Ξ^-, K^0Ξ^0$ reaction data, since we found in a previous work to be especially sensitive to the NLO parameters of the chiral Lagrangian. In the present work we also include the Born terms, which usually have very little effect, and find them to be non-negligible in the $K^- p\to KΞ$ channels, correspondingly causing significant modifications to the NLO parameters. We furthermore show that the importance of the Born terms becomes more visible in the isospin projected amplitudes of the $K^-p \to KΞ$ reactions. The measurement of processes that filter single isospin components, like the $K^0_L p \to K^+ Ξ^0$ reaction that could be measured at the proposed secondary $K^0_L$ beam at Jlab, would put valuable constraints on the chiral models describing the meson-baryon interaction in the $S=-1$ sector.

In this review we give a perspective of the theoretical work done recently on the interpretation of results from $B$, $D$, $Λ_b$, $Λ_c$ weak decays into final states that contain interacting hadrons, and how it is possible to obtain additional valuable information that is increasing our understanding of hadron interactions and the nature of many hadronic resonances. The novelty of these processes is that one begins with a clean picture at the quark level which allows one to select the basic mechanisms by means of which the process proceeds. Finally, one has a final state described in terms of quarks. To make contact with the experiments, where mesons and baryons are observed, one must hadronize, creating pairs of $q \bar q$ and writing the new states in terms of mesons and baryons. This concludes the primary hadron production in these processes. After that, the interaction of these hadrons takes place, offering a rich spectrum of resonances and special features from where it is possible to learn much about the interaction of these hadrons and the nature of many resonances in terms of the components of their wave functions.

The hidden charm pentaquark state $P_c(4450)$ observed recently by the LHCb collaboration may be of molecular nature, as advocated by some unitary approaches that also predict pentaquark partners in the strangeness $S=-1$ sector. The hidden charm pentaquark state $P_c(4450)$ observed recently by the LHCb collaboration may be of molecular nature, as advocated by some unitary approaches that also predict pentaquark partners in the strangeness $S=-1$ sector. In this work we argue that a hidden-charm strange pentaquark could be seen from the decay of the $Λ_b$, just as in the case of the non-strange $P_c(4450)$, but looking into the $J/ψηΛ$ decay mode and forming the invariant mass spectrum of $J/ψΛ$ pairs. In the model presented here, which assumes a standard weak decay topology and incorporates the hadronization process and final state interaction effects, we find the $J/ψηΛ$ final states to be populated with similar strength as the $J/ψK^- p$ states employed for the observation of the non-strange pentaquark. This makes the $Λ_ b \to J/ψηΛ$ decay to be an interesting process to observe a possible strange partner of the $P_c(4450)$ . We study the dependence of the $J/ψΛ$ mass spectra on various model ingredients and on the unknown properties of the strange pentaquark.

We study the weak decay of the $Λ_b$ into $ J/ψ~ K ~ Ξ$ and $J/ψ~ η~ Λ$ states, and relate these processes to the $Λ_b \to J/ψ~ \bar K ~N$ decay mode. The elementary weak transition at the quark level proceeds via the creation of a $J/ψ$ meson and an excited $sud$ system with $I=0$, which upon hadronization leads to $\bar K N$ or $ηΛ$ pairs. These states undergo final state interaction in coupled channels and produce a final meson-baryon pair. The $K Ξ$ state only occurs via rescattering, hence making the $Λ_b \to J/ψ~ K ~ Ξ$ process very sensitive to the details of the meson-baryon interaction in strangeness $S=-1$ and isospin $I=0$. We show that the corresponding invariant mass distribution is dominated by the next-to-leading order terms of the chiral interaction. The $I=0$ selectivity of this decay, and its large sensitivity to the higher order terms, makes its measurement very useful and complementary to the $K^- p \to K Ξ$ cross section data. The rates of the $Λ_b \to J/ψ~ K ~ Ξ$ and $Λ_b \to J/ψ~ η~ Λ$ invariant mass distributions are sizable compared to those of the $Λ_b \to J/ψ~ \bar K ~N$ decay, which is measured experimentally, thus, we provide arguments for an experimental determination of these decay modes that will help us understand better the chiral dynamics at higher energies.

We pay particular attention to the $\bar{K} N \rightarrow K Ξ$ reaction, where the effect of the next-to-leading order terms in the Lagrangian are sufficiently large to be observed, since at tree level the cross section of this reaction is zero. For these channels we improve our approach by phenomenologically taking into account effects of the high spin hyperonic resonances.
