Starting from the one-loop divergences we obtained previously, we work out the renormalization of the Higgs-Electroweak Chiral Lagrangian explicitly and in detail. This includes the renormalization of the lowest-order Lagrangian, as well as the decomposition of the remaining divergences into a complete basis of next-to-leading-order counterterms. We provide the list of the corresponding beta functions. We show how our results match the one-loop renormalization of some of the dimension-6 operators in SMEFT. We further point out differences with related work in the literature and discuss them. As an application of the obtained results, we evaluate the divergences of the vacuum expectation value of the Higgs field at one loop and show that they can be appropriately removed by the corresponding renormalization. We also work out the finite renormalization required to keep the no-tadpole condition on the Higgs field at one loop.

The electroweak sector of the Standard Model can be formulated in a way similar to Chiral Perturbation Theory (ChPT), but extended by a singlet scalar. The resulting effective field theory (EFT) is called Higgs-Electroweak Chiral Lagrangian (EWCh$\mathcal{L}$) and is the most general approach to new physics in the Higgs sector. It solely assumes the pattern of symmetry breaking leading to the three electroweak Goldstone bosons (i.e. massive $W$ and $Z$) and the existence of a Higgs-like scalar particle. The power counting of the EWCh$\mathcal{L}$ is given by a generalization of the momentum expansion of ChPT. It is connected to a loop expansion, making the theory renormalizable order by order in the EFT.
I will briefly review the construction of the EWCh$\mathcal{L}$ and its power counting. Then, I will discuss the complete one-loop renormalization of the EWCh$\mathcal{L}$ employing the background-field method and the super-heat-kernel expansion. This computation confirms the power counting assumptions, is consistent with the completeness of the operator basis, and reproduces known results of subsectors in the appropriate limits.

Using background-field method and super-heat-kernel expansion, we derive a master formula for the one-loop UV divergences of the bosonic dimension-6 operators in Standard Model Effective Field Theory (SMEFT). This approach reduces the calculation of all the UV divergences to algebraic manipulations. Using this formula we corroborate results in the literature for the one-loop anomalous dimension matrix of SMEFT obtained via diagrammatic methods, considering contributions from the operators $X^3, φ^6, φ^4 D^2, X^2 φ^2$ of the Warsaw basis. The formula is derived in a general way and can be applied to other quantum field theories as well.

The discovery of the Higgs boson in 2012, by the ATLAS and CMS experiments, was a success achieved with only a percent of the entire dataset foreseen for the LHC. It opened a landscape of possibilities in the study of Higgs boson properties, Electroweak Symmetry breaking and the Standard Model in general, as well as new avenues in probing new physics beyond the Standard Model. Six years after the discovery, with a conspicuously larger dataset collected during LHC Run 2 at a 13 TeV centre-of-mass energy, the theory and experimental particle physics communities have started a meticulous exploration of the potential for precision measurements of its properties. This includes studies of Higgs boson production and decays processes, the search for rare decays and production modes, high energy observables, and searches for an extended electroweak symmetry breaking sector. This report summarises the potential reach and opportunities in Higgs physics during the High Luminosity phase of the LHC, with an expected dataset of pp collisions at 14 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3 ab$^{-1}$. These studies are performed in light of the most recent analyses from LHC collaborations and the latest theoretical developments. The potential of an LHC upgrade, colliding protons at a centre-of-mass energy of 27 TeV and producing a dataset corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 15 ab$^{-1}$, is also discussed.

This is the third out of five chapters of the final report [1] of the Workshop on Physics at HL-LHC, and perspectives on HE-LHC [2]. It is devoted to the study of the potential, in the search for Beyond the Standard Model (BSM) physics, of the High Luminosity (HL) phase of the LHC, defined as $3~\mathrm{ab}^{-1}$ of data taken at a centre-of-mass energy of $14~\mathrm{TeV}$, and of a possible future upgrade, the High Energy (HE) LHC, defined as $15~\mathrm{ab}^{-1}$ of data at a centre-of-mass energy of $27~\mathrm{TeV}$. We consider a large variety of new physics models, both in a simplified model fashion and in a more model-dependent one. A long list of contributions from the theory and experimental (ATLAS, CMS, LHCb) communities have been collected and merged together to give a complete, wide, and consistent view of future prospects for BSM physics at the considered colliders. On top of the usual standard candles, such as supersymmetric simplified models and resonances, considered for the evaluation of future collider potentials, this report contains results on dark matter and dark sectors, long lived particles, leptoquarks, sterile neutrinos, axion-like particles, heavy scalars, vector-like quarks, and more. Particular attention is placed, especially in the study of the HL-LHC prospects, to the detector upgrades, the assessment of the future systematic uncertainties, and new experimental techniques. The general conclusion is that the HL-LHC, on top of allowing to extend the present LHC mass and coupling reach by $20-50\%$ on most new physics scenarios, will also be able to constrain, and potentially discover, new physics that is presently unconstrained. Moreover, compared to the HL-LHC, the reach in most observables will generally more than double at the HE-LHC, which may represent a good candidate future facility for a final test of TeV-scale new physics.

We document the extraordinary breadth of the HL/HE-LHC programme enabled by a putative Upgrade II of the dedicated flavour physics experiment LHCb and the evolution of the established flavour physics role of the ATLAS and CMS general purpose experiments. We connect the dedicated flavour physics programme to studies of the top quark, Higgs boson, and direct high-$p_T$ searches for new particles and force carriers. We discuss the complementarity of their discovery potential for physics beyond the Standard Model, affirming the necessity to fully exploit the LHC's flavour physics potential throughout its upgrade eras.

We present a calculation of the NLO QCD corrections to Higgs boson pair production within the framework of a non-linearly realised Effective Field Theory in the Higgs sector, described by the electroweak chiral Lagrangian. We analyse how the NLO corrections affect distributions in the Higgs boson pair invariant mass and the transverse momentum of one of the Higgs bosons. We find that these corrections lead to significant and non-homogeneous K-factors in certain regions of the parameter space. We also provide an analytical parametrisation for the total cross-section and the $m_{hh}$ distribution as a function of the anomalous Higgs couplings that includes NLO corrections. Such a parametrisation can be useful for phenomenological studies.

We analyze the possibility to accommodate current $b \to s \ell^+ \ell^-$ anomalies with TeV-scale mediators that couple to right-handed top quarks and muons, contributing to $b \to s \ell^+ \ell^-\,$ at the one-loop level. We use the Standard Model Effective Field Theory (SMEFT) framework but also look at specific scenarios by taking into account all possible irreducible representations of the Lorentz and Standard Model gauge group for the mediators. From a global fit of $b \to s \ell^+ \ell^-$ data and LEP-I observables we find that the Wilson coefficients of two SMEFT operators: $\mathcal{O}_{\ell u}= (\bar \ell_{ L μ} γ^α \ell_{ L μ}) (\bar t_R γ_α t_R )$ and $\mathcal{O}_{e u}= (\bar μ_{R} γ^α μ_{R}) (\bar t_R γ_α t_R )$ need to satisfy $\mathcal{C}_{eu} \sim \mathcal{C}_{\ell u}$. New physics enters then in $b \to s \ell^+ \ell^-$ mainly through the operator $\mathcal{O}_9 = ( \bar s γ_μ P_{L} b )( \bar \ell γ^μ \ell )$ of the Weak Effective Theory. After discussing all possible mediators, we concentrate on two scenarios: A vector boson in the irreducible representation $Z_μ^{\prime} \sim (1,1,0)$ of the Standard Model gauge group with vectorial coupling to muons, and a combination of two leptoquarks: the scalar $R_2 \sim (3,2,7/6)$ and the vector $\widetilde U_{1 μ} \sim (3,1,5/3)$. We derive LHC constraints by recasting di-muon resonance, $pp \to t \bar t t \bar t$ and SUSY searches. Additionally, we analyze the prospects for discovering these mediators during the high-luminosity phase of the LHC.

We define a data exchange format for numerical values of Wilson coefficients of local operators parameterising low-energy effects of physics beyond the Standard Model. The format facilitates interfacing model-specific Wilson coefficient calculators, renormalisation group (RG) runners, and observable calculators. It is designed to be unambiguous (defining a non-redundant set of operators with fixed normalisation in each basis), extensible (allowing the addition of new EFTs or bases by the user), and robust (being based on industry standard file formats with parsers implemented in many programming languages). We have implemented the format for the Standard Model EFT (SMEFT) and for the weak effective theory (WET) below the electroweak scale and have added interfaces to a number of public codes dealing with SMEFT or WET. We also provide command-line utilities and a Python module for convenient manipulation of WCxf files, including translation between different bases and matching from SMEFT to WET.

We study the implications of the recent measurements of $R_K$ and $R_{K^*}$ by the LHCb collaboration. We do that by adopting a model-independent approach based on the Standard Model Effective Field Theory (SMEFT), in which the dominant new physics effects are encoded in the coefficients of dimension-six operators respecting the full Standard Model (SM) gauge symmetry. After providing simplified expressions for $R_K$ and $R_{K^\ast}$, we determine the implications of the recent LHCb results for these observables on the coefficients of the SMEFT operators at low and high energies. We also take into account all $b\to s \ell\ell$ data, which combined lead to effective New Physics (NP) scenarios with SM pulls in excess of 5~$σ$. Thus the operators discussed in this paper would be the first dimension-six terms in the SM Lagrangian to be detected experimentally. Indirect constraints on these operators are also discussed. The results of this paper transcend the singularity of the present situation, and set a standard for future analyses in $b\to s$ transitions when the NP is assumed to lie above the electroweak scale.

We discuss Yukawa-enhanced contributions from $Z$-mediated new physics to down-type quark $ΔF=2$ processes in the framework of the standard model gauge-invariant effective theory (SMEFT). Besides the renormalization group (RG) mixing of the $Z$-mediating $ψ^2 H^2 D$ operators into $ΔF = 2$ operators, we include at the electroweak scale one-loop (NLO) matching corrections consistently, necessary for the removal of the matching scale dependence. We point out that the right-handed $Z$-mediated interactions generate through Yukawa RG mixing $ΔF=2$ left-right operators, which are further enhanced through QCD RG effects and chirally enhanced hadronic matrix elements. We investigate the impact of these new effects on the known correlations between $ΔF=2$ and $ΔF=1$ transitions in the SMEFT framework and point out qualitative differences to previous parameterizations of $Z$-mediated new physics that arise for the left-handed case. We illustrate how specific models fit into our model-independent framework by using four models with vector-like quarks. We carry out model-independent analyses of scenarios with purely left-handed and purely right-handed new-physics $Z$ couplings for each of the three sectors $s\to d$, $b\to s$ and $b\to d$. Specifically we discuss the correlations between $\varepsilon'/\varepsilon$, $\varepsilon_K$, $K_L\to μ^+μ^-$ $K^+\to π^+ν\barν$ and $K_L\toπ^0ν\barν$ in the Kaon sector, and $φ_s$, $B_s\toμ^+μ^-$ and $B\to K^{(*)} (μ^+μ^-, ν\barν)$ in the $b\to s$ sector and $B_d\toμ^+μ^-$ in the $b\to d$ sector.

We find that scalar contributions with the simultaneous presence of both left- and right-handed couplings to quarks can explain the available data, specifically $R(D^{(*)})$ together with the measured differential distributions. However, the constraints from the total $B_c$ width present a slight tension with the current data on $B \to D^{*}τν$ in this scenario, preferring smaller values for $R(D^*)$. We discuss possibilities to disentangle scalar new physics from other new-physics scenarios like the presence of only a left-handed vector current, via additional observables in $B \to D^{(*)}τν$ decays or additional decay modes like the baryonic $Λ_b \to Λ_c τν$ and the inclusive $B \to X_c τν$ decays. We also analyze scalar contributions in $b \to u τν$ transitions, including the latest measurements of $B \to τν$, providing predictions for $Λ_b \to p τν$ and $B \to πτν$ decays. The potential complementarity between the $b \to u$ and $b \to c$ sectors is finally investigated once assumptions about the flavour structure of the underlying theory are made.

The main goal of the working group was to present the state-of-the-art of Higgs physics at the LHC, integrating all new results that have appeared in the last few years. The first part compiles the most up-to-date predictions of Higgs boson production cross sections and decay branching ratios, parton distribution functions, and off-shell Higgs boson production and interference effects. The second part discusses the recent progress in Higgs effective field theory predictions, followed by the third part on pseudo-observables, simplified template cross section and fiducial cross section measurements, which give the baseline framework for Higgs boson property measurements. The fourth part deals with the beyond the Standard Model predictions of various benchmark scenarios of Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model, extended scalar sector, Next-to-Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model and exotic Higgs boson decays. This report follows three previous working-group reports: Handbook of LHC Higgs Cross Sections: 1. Inclusive Observables (CERN-2011-002), Handbook of LHC Higgs Cross Sections: 2. We first decouple VLQs in the $M=(1-10)$ TeV range and then at the electroweak scale also $Z, Z'$ gauge bosons and additional scalars to study the resulting phenomenology that depends on the relative size of $Z$- and $Z'$-induced flavour-changing neutral currents, as well as the size of $ΔF=2$ contributions including the effects of renormalisation group Yukawa evolution from $M$ to the electroweak scale that turn out to be very important for models with right-handed currents through the generation of left-right operators. In addition to rare decays like $P\to \ell\bar\ell$, $P\to P' \ell\bar\ell$, $P\to P'ν\barν$ with $P=K, B_s, B_d$ and $ΔF=2$ observables we analyze the ratio $\varepsilon'/\varepsilon$ which appears in the SM to be significantly below the data. We study patterns and correlations between these observables which taken together should in the future allow for differentiating between VLQ models. In particular the patterns in models with left-handed and right-handed currents are markedly different from each other. Among the highlights are large $Z$-mediated new physics effects in Kaon observables in some of the models and significant effects in $B_{s,d}$-observables. $\varepsilon'/\varepsilon$ can easily be made consistent with the data, implying then uniquely the suppression of $K_L\to π^0 ν\barν$. Significant enhancements of $Br(K^+\to π^+ ν\barν)$ are still possible. We point out that the combination of $ΔF=2$ and $ΔF=1$ observables in a given meson system generally allows to determine the masses of VLQs independently of the size of VLQ couplings.

We revisit the possibility of a Dirac fermion dark matter candidate in the light of current $b \to s \ell^+ \ell^-$ anomalies by investigating a minimal extension of the Standard Model with a horizontal $\mathrm{U(1)}^{\prime}$ local symmetry. Dark matter stability is protected by a remnant $\mathcal{Z}_2$ symmetry arising after spontaneous symmetry breaking of $\mathrm{U(1)}^{\prime}$. The associated $Z^{\prime}$ gauge boson can accommodate current hints of new physics in $b \to s \ell^+ \ell^-$ decays, and acts as a vector portal between dark matter and the visible sector. We find that the model is severely constrained by a combination of precision measurements at flavour factories, LHC searches for dilepton resonances, as well as direct and indirect dark matter searches. Despite this, viable regions of the parameter space accommodating the observed dark matter relic abundance and the $b \to s \ell^+ \ell^-$ anomalies still persist for dark matter and $Z^{\prime}$ masses in the TeV range.

We investigate a gauge extension of the Standard Model in light of the observed hints of lepton universality violation in $b \to c \ell ν$ and $b \to s \ell^+ \ell^-$ decays at BaBar, Belle and LHCb. The model consists of an extended gauge group $\mathrm{SU(2)}_{1} \times \mathrm{SU(2)}_{2} \times \mathrm{U(1)}_Y$ which breaks spontaneously around the TeV scale to the electroweak gauge group. Fermion mixing effects with vector-like fermions give rise to potentially large new physics contributions in flavour transitions mediated by $W^{\prime}$ and $Z^{\prime}$ bosons. This model can ease tensions in $B$-physics data while satisfying stringent bounds from flavour physics, tau decays, and electroweak precision data. Possible ways to test the proposed new physics scenario with upcoming experimental measurements are discussed. Among other predictions, the lepton flavour violating ratios $R_M$, with $M = K^*, φ$, are found to be reduced with respect to the Standard Model expectation $R_M \simeq 1$.

We classify the possible models according to the symmetry-breaking pattern and the source of flavor non-universality. We find that in viable models the $\mathrm{SU(2)}_L$ factor is embedded non-trivially in the extended gauge group, and that gauge couplings should be universal, hinting to the presence of new degrees of freedom sourcing non-universality. Finally, we provide an explicit model that can explain the $B$-decay anomalies in a coherent way and confront it with the relevant phenomenological constraints.

In a recent paper [1] a master formula has been presented for the power counting of a general effective field theory. We first show that this master formula follows immediately from the concept of chiral dimensions (loop counting), together with standard dimensional analysis. Subsequently, [1] has disputed the relevance of chiral counting for chiral Lagrangians, and in particular for the electroweak chiral Lagrangian including a light Higgs boson. As an alternative, a power counting based on `primary dimensions' has been proposed. The difficulties encountered with this scheme led the authors to suggest that even the leading order of the electroweak chiral Lagrangian could not be clearly defined. Here we demonstrate that the concept of primary dimensions is irrelevant for the organization of chiral Lagrangians. We re-emphasize that the correct counting is based on chiral dimensions, or the counting of loop orders, and show how the problems encountered in [1] are resolved.

In a recent paper we showed that the electroweak chiral Lagrangian at leading order is equivalent to the conventional $κ$ formalism used by ATLAS and CMS to test Higgs anomalous couplings. Here we apply this fact to fit the latest Higgs data. The new aspect of our analysis is a systematic interpretation of the fit parameters within an EFT. Concentrating on the processes of Higgs production and decay that have been measured so far, six parameters turn out to be relevant: $c_V$, $c_t$, $c_b$, $c_τ$, $c_{γγ}$, $c_{gg}$. A global Bayesian fit is then performed with the result: $c_{V} = 0.98 \pm 0.09$, $c_{t} = 1.34 \pm 0.19$, $c_{b} = 0.78 \pm 0.18$, $c_τ = 0.92 \pm 0.14$, $c_{γγ} = -0.24 \pm 0.37$, $c_{gg} = -0.30 \pm 0.17$. Additionally, we show how this leading-order parametrization can be generalized to next-to-leading order, thus improving the $κ$ formalism systematically. The differences with a linear EFT analysis including operators of dimension six are also discussed. One of the main conclusions of our analysis is that since the conventional $κ$ formalism can be properly justified within a QFT framework, it should continue to play a central role in analyzing and interpreting Higgs data.

Motivated by the principle of natural flavour conservation, searches for signatures of a second scalar doublet at the LHC are usually limited to models with a very restricted Yukawa structure. Strong correlations between the scalar couplings to fermions are fixed in these models due to the underlying flavour principle, making the results obtained from such analyses highly model dependent. Moreover, constraints derived from flavour experiments also vary radically within the different models considered. The hypothesis of Yukawa alignment provides a suitable framework to perform a more general analysis of 125 GeV boson data and searches for additional scalars at the LHC, allowing for sizable new physics effects to be observed in the scalar sector while accommodating the stringent limits from flavour experiments at the same time. This general setting includes the different models with natural flavour conservation as particular cases.

We propose a parametrization of anomalous Higgs-boson couplings that is both systematic and practical. It is based on the electroweak chiral Lagrangian, including a light Higgs boson, as the effective field theory (EFT) at the electroweak scale $v$. This is the appropriate framework for the case of sizeable deviations in the Higgs couplings of order $10\%$ from the Standard Model, considered to be parametrically larger than new-physics effects in the sector of electroweak gauge interactions. The role of power counting in identifying the relevant parameters is emphasized. The three relevant scales, $v$, the scale of new Higgs dynamics $f$, and the cut-off $Λ=4πf$, admit expansions in $ξ=v^2/f^2$ and $f^2/Λ^2$. The former corresponds to an organization of operators by their canonical dimension, the latter by their loop order or chiral dimension. In full generality the EFT is thus organized as a double expansion. However, as long as $ξ\gg 1/16π^2$ the EFT systematics is closer to the chiral counting. The leading effects in the consistent approximation provided by the EFT, relevant for the presently most important processes of Higgs production and decay, are given by a few (typically six) couplings. These parameters allow us to describe the properties of the Higgs boson in a general and systematic way, and with a precision adequate for the measurements to be performed at the LHC. The framework can be systematically extended to include loop corrections and higher-order terms in the EFT.

Assuming that the $125$~GeV Higgs corresponds to the lightest CP-even scalar of the CP-conserving aligned two-Higgs-doublet model, we find that the rates for such flavour-changing top decays lie below the expected sensitivity of the future high-luminosity phase of the LHC. Measurements of the Higgs signal strength in the di-photon channel are found to play an important role in limiting the size of the $t \rightarrow c h$ decay rate when the charged scalar of the model is light.

The scalar sector of these models contains three-Higgs doublets and a complex scalar gauge singlet, with the same fermionic content than the Standard Model. A horizontal Peccei-Quinn symmetry provides a solution to the strong CP problem and predicts the existence of a very light and weakly coupled pseudo-Goldstone boson, the invisible axion or familon. A phenomenological analysis is performed taking into account familon searches in rare kaon and muon decays, astrophysical considerations and axion searches via axion-photon conversion. Drastic differences are found in the axion properties of different models due to the strong hierarchy of the CKM matrix, making some of the models considered much more constrained than others. We also obtain that a rich variety of these models avoid the domain wall problem. A possible mechanism to protect the solution to the strong CP problem against gravitational effects is also discussed.

To frame our discussion we consider an extension of the Dine-Fischler-Srednicki-Zhitnitsky invisible axion model with two additional Higgs doublets blind under the Peccei-Quinn symmetry. Due to mixing effects among the scalar fields, it is possible to obtain a rich scalar sector at the weak scale in certain decoupling limits of the theory. The data accumulated so far confirm the Higgs-like nature of the new boson discovered at the LHC. The Standard Model Higgs hypothesis is compatible with the collider results and no significant deviations from the Standard Model have been observed neither in the flavour sector nor in electroweak precision observables. We update the LHC and Tevatron constraints on CP-conserving two-Higgs-doublet models without tree-level flavour-changing neutral currents. While the relative sign between the top Yukawa and the gauge coupling of the 126 GeV Higgs is found be the same as in the SM, at 90% CL, there is a sign degeneracy in the determination of its bottom and tau Yukawa couplings. This results in several disjoint allowed regions in the parameter space. We show how generic sum rules governing the scalar couplings determine the properties of the additional Higgs bosons in the different allowed regions. The role of electroweak precision observables, low-energy flavour constraints and LHC searches for additional scalars to further restrict the available parameter space is also discussed.

It has been pointed out recently that current low-energy constraints still allow for sizable flavor-changing decay rates of the 125 GeV boson into leptons, h -> tau ell (ell= e, mu). In this work we discuss the role of hadronic tau-lepton decays in probing lepton flavor violating couplings in the Higgs sector. At low energy, the effective Higgs coupling to gluons induced by heavy quarks contributes to hadronic tau decays, establishing a direct connection with the relevant process at the LHC, pp (gg)-> h -> tau ell. Semileptonic transitions like tau -> ell pi pi are sensitive to flavor-changing scalar couplings while decays such as tau -> ell eta(') probe pseudoscalar couplings, thus providing a useful low-energy handle to disentangle possible Higgs flavor violating signals at the LHC. As part of our analysis, we provide an appropriate description of all the relevant hadronic matrix elements needed to describe Higgs-mediated tau -> ell pi pi transitions, improving over previous treatments in the literature.

Effects of a charged Higgs boson in $B \rightarrow D^{(*)} τν$ decays
Authors:

Abstract:
In this talk I consider the current status of $B \rightarrow D^{(*)} τν$ decays in the context of two-Higgs-doublet models. The BaBar collaboration has reported an excess in semileptonic $b \rightarrow c τν$ transitions that has gathered recent interest as a possible signature of new physics. The sensitivity of these decays to tree-level charged Higgs boson contributions is discussed, taking into…

Abstract:
A sizable excess with respect to the SM expectation has been reported recently by the BaBar collaboration in the decay rates B -> D(*) Tau Nu, normalized by the corresponding light lepton modes. A violation of lepton flavor universality as suggested by this excess could be due to a charged Higgs mediating these processes at tree level. In this talk we analyze the implications of the observed exces…

Prospects for B -> D(*) Tau Nu decays at future Super-Flavor Factories are also discussed.

Kee** the generic Yukawa structure of the Aligned Two-Higgs Doublet Model framework, we study the implications of the LHC data on the allowed scalar spectrum. We analyze both the CP-violating and CP-conserving cases, and a few particular limits with a reduced number of free parameters, such as the usual models based on discrete ${\cal Z}_2$ symmetries.

We analyze the recent experimental evidence for an excess of $τ$-lepton production in several exclusive semileptonic $B$-meson decays in the context of two-Higgs-doublet models. These decay modes are sensitive to the exchange of charged scalars and constrain strongly their Yukawa interactions. While the usual Type-II scenario cannot accommodate the recent BaBar data, this is possible within more general models in which the charged-scalar couplings to up-type quarks are not as suppressed. Both the $B\to D^{(*)}τν_τ$ and the $B\toτν_τ$ data can be fitted within the framework of the Aligned Two-Higgs-Doublet Model, but the resulting parameter ranges are in conflict with the constraints from leptonic charm decays. This could indicate a departure from the family universality of the Yukawa couplings, beyond their characteristic fermion mass dependence. We discuss several new observables that are sensitive to a hypothetical charged-scalar contribution, demonstrating that they are well suited to distinguish between different scenarios of new physics in the scalar sector, and also between this group and models with different Dirac structures; their experimental study would therefore shed light on the relevance of scalar exchanges in semileptonic $b\to c\,τ^-\barν_τ$ transitions.

$K\toππ$ Decays in SU(2) Chiral Perturbation Theory
Authors:

Abstract:
We study the decays $K\toππ$ in one-loop two-flavour Chiral Perturbation Theory. We provide arguments why the calculation of the coefficient of the pionic chiral logarithm $\logm = M^2\log M^2$ is unique and then perform the calculation. As a check we perform the reduction of the known three-flavour result. The underlying arguments are expected to be valid for heavier particles and other process…
