Statistically significant excesses exist at around 152 GeV in associated di-photon production ($γγ+X$) in the sidebands of SM Higgs analyses of ATLAS (using the full run-2 dataset). They are most pronounced in the single-$τ$, missing-transverse-energy, four-jet and $\geqslant1\ell+\!\geqslant1b$-jet channels ($\approx3σ$) and can be explained by the Drell-Yan production of new Higgs bosons, i.e. $pp\to W^*\to H^\pm H^0$. We first examine the excesses in a simplified model approach, considering that $H^\pm$ decays to $τν$, $WZ$ or $tb$. Both the $τν$ and $tb$ decay modes individually lead to a significance of $\lessapprox4σ$ while for $WZ$ one can obtain at most $3.5σ$. This is because the decays of $WZ$ lead to multiple leptons contributing to the two-lepton channel which does not show an excess at 152 GeV. Next, we consider two-Higgs-doublet models where the charged Higgs does not decay to $WZ$ at tree-level, finding a significance of $\gtrapprox4σ$ for a branching ratio of the new neutral Higgs to photons of $\approx$2%. Even though this branching fraction is quite sizable, it can be obtained in composite models or via the Lagrangian term $λ_6 H_1^\dagger H_1 H_2^\dagger H_1+{\rm h.c.}$ breaking the commonly imposed $Z_2$ symmetry.

Despite intensive searches at the LHC, no new fundamental particle has been discovered since the discovery of the 125 GeV Higgs boson. In general, a new physics discovery is challenging without a UV-complete model because different channels and observables cannot be combined directly and unambiguously. Moreover, without indirect hints for new particles, the parameter space to be searched is huge, resulting in diminished significance due to the look-elsewhere effect. Several LHC searches with multiple leptons in the final state point towards the existence of a new Higgs boson with a mass in the 140-160 GeV range, decaying mostly to a pair of W bosons. This dominant decay mode motivates a Higgs triplet with zero hypercharge, which also predicts a heavier-than-expected $W$-boson as indicated by the CDF-II measurement. Within this simple and predictive model, we simulate and combine channels of associated di-photon production. Considering the run-2 results of ATLAS, including those presented recently at the Moriond conference, a significance of 4.3$σ$ is obtained for a mass of 152 GeV. This is the largest statistical evidence for a new narrow resonance observed at the LHC.

Two recently developed techniques of analytic evaluation of multifold Mellin-Barnes (MB) integrals are presented. Both approaches rest on the definition of geometrical objets conveniently associated with the MB integrands, which can then be used along with multivariate residues analysis to derive series representations of the MB integrals. The first method is based on introducing conic hulls and considering specific intersections of the latter, while the second one rests on point configurations and their regular triangulations. After a brief description of both methods, which have been automatized in the MBConicHulls.wl Mathematica package, we review some of their applications. In particular, we show how the conic hulls method was used to obtain the first analytic calculation of complicated Feynman integrals, such as the massless off-shell conformal hexagon and double-box. We then show that the triangulation method is even more efficient, as it allows one to compute these nontrivial objects and harder ones in a much faster way.

The multi-lepton anomalies and searches for the associated production of a narrow resonance indicate the existence of a $\approx$151 GeV Higgs with a significance of $>5σ$ and $>3.9σ$, respectively. On the one hand, these anomalies require a sizable branching fraction of the new scalar to $WW$, while on the other hand, no $ZZ$ signal at this mass has been observed. This suggests that the new boson is the neutral component of an $SU(2)_L$ triplet with zero hypercharge. This field leads to a positive definite shift in the $W$ mass, as preferred by the current global fit, and is produced via the Drell-Yan process $pp\to W^*\to Δ^0Δ^\pm$. We use the side-bands of the ATLAS analysis \cite{ATLAS:2023omk} of the associated production of the Standard Model Higgs in the di-photon channel to search for this production mode of the triplet. Since the dominant decays of $Δ^\pm$ depend only on its mass, the effect in the 22 signal categories considered by ATLAS is completely correlated. We find that the ones most sensitive to the Drell-Yan production of the triplet Higgs show consistent excesses at a mass of $\approx$151.5 GeV. Combining these channels in a likelihood ratio test, a non-zero Br$[Δ^0\toγγ] = 0.66\%$ is preferred by $\approx$3$σ$, supporting our conjecture.

We present a novel technique for the analytic evaluation of multifold Mellin-Barnes (MB) integrals, which commonly appear in physics, as for instance in the calculations of multi-loop multi-scale Feynman integrals. Our approach is based on triangulating a set of points which can be assigned to a given MB integral, and yields the final analytic results in terms of linear combinations of multiple series, each triangulation allowing the derivation of one of these combinations. When this technique is applied to the computation of Feynman integrals, the involved series are of the (multivariable) hypergeometric type. We implement our method in the Mathematica package MBConicHulls.wl, an already existing software dedicated to the analytic evaluation of multiple MB integrals, based on a recently developed computational approach using intersections of conic hulls. The triangulation method is remarkably faster than the conic hulls approach and can thus be used for the calculation of higher-fold MB integrals as we show here by computing triangulations for highly complicated objects such as the off-shell massless scalar one-loop 15-point Feynman integral whose MB representation has 104 folds. As other applications we show how this technique can provide new results for the off-shell massless conformal hexagon and double box Feynman integrals, as well as for the hard diagram of the two loop hexagon Wilson loop.

Statistically significant tensions between the Standard Model (SM) predictions and the measured lepton distributions in differential top cross-sections emerged in LHC Run~1 data and became even more pronounced in Run~2 analyses. Due to the level of sophistication of the SM predictions and the performance of the ATLAS and CMS detectors, this is very remarkable. Therefore, one should seriously consider the possibility that these measurements are contaminated by beyond-the-SM contributions. In this article, we use differential lepton distributions from the latest ATLAS $t\bar t$ analysis to study a new physics benchmark model motivated by existing indications for new Higgses: a new scalar $H$ is produced via gluon fusion and decays to $S^\prime$ ($95\,$GeV) and $S$ ($152\,$GeV), which subsequently decay to $b\bar b$ and $WW$, respectively. In this setup, the total $χ^2$ is reduced, compared to the SM, resulting in $Δχ^2=34$ to $Δχ^2=158$, depending on the SM simulation used. Notably, allowing $m_S$ to vary, the combination of the distributions points towards $m_S\!\approx\!150\,$GeV which is consistent with the existing $γγ$ and $WW$ signals, rendering a mismodelling of the SM unlikely. Averaging the results of the different SM predictions, a non-vanishing cross-section for $pp\to H\to SS^\prime\to b\bar b WW$ of $\approx\!13$pb is preferred. If $S^\prime$ is SM-like, this cross-section, at the same time explains the $95\,$GeV $γγ$ excess, while the dominance of $S\to WW$ suggests that $S$ is the neutral component of the $SU(2)_L$ triplet with hypercharge~0.

In this article, we calculate the renormalisation group evolution of models with scalar leptoquarks. We compute the anomalous dimensions for all couplings (gauge, Yukawa, Higgs and leptoquarks interactions) of the most general Lagrangian at the two-loop level and the corresponding threshold corrections at one-loop. The most relevant analytic results are presented in the Appendix, while the notebook containing the full expressions can be downloaded at https://github.com/SumitBanikGit/SLQ-RG. We explore the possibility that an $SU(2)_L$ triplet scalar with hypercharge $Y=0$ is the origin of the $95\,$GeV diphoton excess. For a small mixing angle with the Standard Model Higgs, its neutral component has naturally a sizable branching ratio to $γγ$ such that its Drell-Yan production via $pp\to W^*\to H H^\pm$ is sufficient to obtain the desired signal strength, where $H^\pm$ is the charged Higgs component of the triplet. The predictions of this setup are: 1) The $γγ$ signal has a $p_T$ spectrum different from gluon fusion but similar to associated production. 2) Photons are produced in association with tau leptons and jets, but generally do not fall into the vector-boson fusion category. 3) The existence of a charged Higgs with $m_{H^\pm}\approx\!(95\pm5)\,$GeV leading to $σ(pp\to ττνν)\approx0.4\,$pb, which is of the same level as the current limit and can be discovered with Run 3 data. 4) A positive definite shift in the $W$ mass as suggested by the current global electroweak fit.

The two-Higgs-doublet model with a $U(1)_H$ gauge symmetry (N2HDM-$U(1)$) has several advantages compared to the ``standard'' $Z_2$ version (N2HDM-$Z_2$): It is purely based on gauge symmetries, involves only spontaneous symmetry breaking, and is more predictive because it contains one parameter less in the Higgs potential, which further ensures $CP$ conservation, i.e., avoiding the stringent bounds from electric dipole moments. After pointing out that a second, so far unknown version of the N2HDM-$U(1)$ exists, we examine the phenomenological consequences for the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) of the differences in the scalar potentials. In particular, we find that while the N2HDM-$Z_2$ predicts suppressed branching ratios for decays into different Higgs bosons for the case of the small scalar mixing (as suggested by Higgs coupling measurements), both versions of the N2HDM-$U(1)$ allow for sizable rates. This is particularly relevant in light of the CMS excess in resonant Higgs-pair production at around $650\,$GeV of a Standard Model Higgs boson subsequently decaying to photons and a new scalar with a mass of $\approx90\,$GeV subsequently decaying to bottom quarks (i.e., compatible with the CMS and ATLAS $γγ$ excesses at $95\,$GeV and $\approx 670\,$GeV). As we will show, this excess can be addressed within the N2HDM-$U(1)$ in case of a nonminimal Yukawa sector, predicting an interesting and unavoidable $Z+ b\bar b$ signal and motivating further asymmetric di-Higgs searches at the LHC.

We show how the conic hull method, recently developed for the analytic and non-iterative evaluation of multifold Mellin-Barnes (MB) integrals, can be extended to the case where these integrals have straight contours of integration parallel to the imaginary axes in the complex planes of the integration variables. MB integrals of this class appear, for instance, when one computes the $ε$-expansion of dimensionally regularized Feynman integrals, as a result of the application of one of the two main strategies (called A and B in the literature) used to resolve the singularities in $ε$ of MB representations. We upgrade the Mathematica package MBConicHulls.wl which can now be used to obtain multivariable series representations of multifold MB integrals with arbitrary straight contours, providing an efficient tool for the automatic computation of such integrals. This new feature of the package is presented, along with an example of application by calculating the $ε$-expansion of the dimensionally regularized massless one-loop pentagon integral in general kinematics and $D=4-2ε$.

The Method of Brackets (MoB) is a technique used to compute definite integrals, that has its origin in the negative dimensional integration method. It was originally proposed for the evaluation of Feynman integrals for which, when applicable, it gives the results in terms of combinations of (multiple) series. We focus here on some of the limitations of MoB and address them by studying the Mellin-Barnes (MB) representation technique. There has been significant process recently in the study of the latter due to the development of a new computational approach based on conic hulls (see Phys. Rev. Lett. 127, 151601 (2021)). The comparison between the two methods helps to understand the limitations of the MoB, in particular when termwise divergent series appear. As a consequence, the MB technique is found to be superior over MoB for two major reasons: 1. the selection of the sets of series that form a series representation for a given integral follows, in the MB approach, from specific intersections of conic hulls, which, in contrast to MoB, does not need any convergence analysis of the involved series, and 2. MB can be used to evaluate resonant (i.e. logarithmic) cases where MoB fails due to the appearance of termwise divergent series. Furthermore, we show that the recently added Rule 5 of MoB naturally emerges as a consequence of the residue theorem in the context of MB.

The computational technique of $N$-fold Mellin-Barnes (MB) integrals, presented in a companion paper by the same authors, is used to derive sets of series representations of the massive one-loop conformal 3-point Feynman integral in various configurations. This shows the great simplicity and efficiency of the method in nonresonant cases (generic propagator powers) as well as some of its subtleties in the resonant ones (for unit propagator powers). We confirm certain results in the physics and mathematics literature and provide many new results, some of them dealing with the more general massive one-loop conformal $n$-point case. In particular, we prove two recent conjectures that give the massive one-loop conformal $n$-point integral (for generic propagator powers) in terms of multiple hypergeometric series. We show how these conjectures, that were deduced from a Yangian bootstrap analysis, are related by a tower of new quadratic transformations in Hypergeometric Functions Theory. Finally, we also use our MB method to identify spurious contributions that can arise in the Yangian approach.

Mellin-Barnes (MB) integrals are well-known objects appearing in many branches of mathematics and physics, ranging from hypergeometric functions theory to quantum field theory, solid state physics, asymptotic theory, etc. Although MB integrals have been studied for more than one century, until now there is no systematic computational technique of the multiple series representations of $N$-fold MB integrals for $N>2$. Relying on a simple geometrical analysis based on conic hulls, we show here a solution to this important problem. Our method can be applied to resonant (i.e logarithmic) and nonresonant cases and, depending on the form of the MB integrand, it gives rise to convergent series representations or diverging asymptotic ones. When convergent series are obtained the method also allows, in general, the determination of a single master series for each series representation, which considerably simplifies convergence studies and/or numerical checks. We provide, along with this paper, a Mathematica implementation of our technique with examples of applications. Among them, we present the first evaluation of the hexagon and double box conformal Feynman integrals with unit propagator powers.

We report first direct-detection limits calculated using the optimum interval method on the vertical intensity of cosmogenically-produced LIPs with an electric charge smaller than $e/(3\times10^5$), as well as the strongest limits for charge $\leq e/160$, with a minimum vertical intensity of $1.36\times10^{-7}$\,cm$^{-2}$s$^{-1}$sr$^{-1}$ at charge $e/160$. These results apply over a wide range of LIP masses (5\,MeV/$c^2$ to 100\,TeV/$c^2$) and cover a wide range of $βγ$ values (0.1 -- $10^6$), thus excluding non-relativistic LIPs with $βγ$ as small as 0.1 for the first time.

Abstract:
The off-shell massless six-point double box and hexagon conformal Feynman integrals with generic propagator powers are expressed in terms of linear combinations of multiple hypergeometric series of the generalized Horn type. These results are derived from 9-fold Mellin-Barnes representations obtained from their dual conformal Feynman parameter representations. The individual terms in the presented…

The individual terms in the presented expressions satisfy the differential equation that relates the double box in $D$ dimensions to the hexagon in $D+2$ dimensions.

Abstract:
We use the method of brackets to evaluate quadratic and quartic type integrals. We recall the operational rules of the method and give examples to illustrate its working. The method is then used to evaluate the quadratic type integrals which occur in entries 3.251.1,3,4 in the table of integrals by Gradshteyn and Ryzhik and obtain closed form expressions in terms of hypergeometric functions. The method is then used to evaluate the quadratic type integrals which occur in entries 3.251.1,3,4 in the table of integrals by Gradshteyn and Ryzhik and obtain closed form expressions in terms of hypergeometric functions. The method is further used to evaluate the quartic integrals, entry 2.161.5 and 6 in the table. We also present generalization of both types of integrals with closed form expression in terms of hypergeometric functions.

Abstract:
We report the result of a blinded search for Weakly Interacting Massive Particles (WIMPs) using the majority of the SuperCDMS Soudan dataset. With an exposure of 1690 kg days, a single candidate event is observed, consistent with expected backgrounds. This analysis (combined with previous Ge results) sets an upper limit on the spin-independent WIMP--nucleon cross section of $1.4 \times 10^{-44}$ (…

With an exposure of 1690 kg days, a single candidate event is observed, consistent with expected backgrounds. This analysis (combined with previous Ge results) sets an upper limit on the spin-independent WIMP--nucleon cross section of $1.4 \times 10^{-44}$ ($1.0 \times 10^{-44}$) cm$^2$ at 46 GeV/$c^2$. These results set the strongest limits for WIMP--germanium-nucleus interactions for masses $>$12 GeV/$c^2$.

Abstract:
A microscopic approach has been employed to study the kaon and $Λ$ productions in heavy ion collisions. The productions of $K^+$ and $Λ$ have been studied within the framework of Boltzmann transport equation for various beam energies. We find a non-monotonic horn like structure for $K^+/π^+$ and $Λ/π$ when plotted against centre of mass energies ($\sqrt s_{\mathrm NN}$) with the assumption of init…

We find a non-monotonic horn like structure for $K^+/π^+$ and $Λ/π$ when plotted against centre of mass energies ($\sqrt s_{\mathrm NN}$) with the assumption of initial partonic phase for $\sqrt s_{\mathrm NN}$ beyond a certain threshold. However, the ratio $K^+/π^+$ shows a monotonic nature when a hadronic initial state is considered for all $\sqrt s_{\mathrm NN}$. Experimental values of $K^-/π^-$ for different $\sqrt{s_{\mathrm NN}}$ are also reproduced within the ambit of the same formalism.

A microscopic approach has been employed to study the kaon productions in heavy ion collisions. The momentum integrated Boltzmann equation has been used to study the evolution of strangeness in the system formed in heavy ion collision at relativistic energies. The kaon productions have been calculated for different centre of mass energies ($\sqrt{s_{\mathrm {NN}}}$) ranging from AGS to RHIC. The results have been compared with available experimental data. We obtain a non-monotonic horn like structure for $K^+/π^+$ when plotted with $\sqrt{s_{\mathrm {NN}}}$ with the assumption of an initial partonic phase beyond a certain threshold in $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$. However, a monotonic rise of $K^+/π^+$ is observed when a hadronic initial state is assumed for all $\sqrt{s_{\mathrm {NN}}}$. Experimental values of $K^-/π^-$ are also reproduced within the ambit of the same formalism. Results from scenarios where the strange quarks and hadrons are formed in equilibrium and evolves with and without secondary productions have also been presented.

We investigate the shear viscosity of neutron star matter in the presence of an antikaon condensate. The electron and muon number densities are reduced due to the appearance of a $K^-$ condensate in neutron star matter, whereas the proton number density increases. Consequently the shear viscosity due to scatterings of electrons and muons with themselves and protons is lowered compared to the case without the condensate. On the other hand, the contribution of proton-proton collisions to the proton shear viscosity through electromagnetic and strong interactions, becomes important and comparable to the neutron shear viscosity.
