Abstract: The cross section of the process $e^+e^-\toπ^+π^-$ has been measured in the center-of-mass energy range from 0.32 to 1.2 GeV with the CMD-3 detector at the electron-positron collider VEPP-2000. The measurement is based on an integrated luminosity of about 88 pb$^{-1}$, of which 62 pb$^{-1}$ represent a complete dataset collected by CMD-3 at center-of-mass energies below 1 GeV. Abstract: We report a search for lepton-flavor-violating decays $τ^- \to \ell^- φ$ ($\ell^- =e^-,μ^-$) at the Belle II experiment, using a sample of electron-positron data produced at the SuperKEKB collider in 2019-2021 and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 190 fb$^{-1}$. Observation of ${B\to D^{(*)} K^- K^{0}_S}$ decays using the 2019-2022 Belle II data sample

These results include the first observation of $\overline B{}^0\to D^+K^-K_S^0$, $B^-\to D^{*0}K^-K_S^0$, and $\overline B{}^0\to D^{*+}K^-K_S^0$ decays and a significant improvement in the precision of $\text{B}(B^-\to D^0K^-K_S^0)$ compared to previous measurements. △ Less

At energies around $φ$-resonance the $π^+π^-$ production cross section was measured for the first time with high beam energy resolution. The forward-backward charge asymmetry in the $π^+π^-$ production has also been measured. It shows a strong deviation from the theoretical prediction based on the conventional scalar quantum electrodynamics framework, and it is in good agreement with the generalized vector-meson-dominance and dispersive-based predictions. The impact of the presented results on the evaluation of the hadronic contribution to the anomalous magnetic moment of muon is discussed. △ Less

We extract the partial decay rates as functions of $w$ and perform a fit to the decay form-factor and the CKM parameter $|V_{cb}|$ using the BGL parameterization of the form factor and lattice QCD input from the FNAL/MILC and HPQCD collaborations. We obtain $η_{EW}|V_{cb}|=(38.53\pm 1.15)\times 10^{-3}$, where $η_{EW}$ is an electroweak correction, and the error accounts for theoretical and experimental sources of uncertainty. △ Less

By fitting the measured partial branching fractions as functions of $q^{2}$, together with constraints on the nonperturbative hadronic contribution from lattice QCD calculations, the magnitude of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix element $V_{ub}$, $(3.55 \pm 0.12 \pm 0.13 \pm 0.17) \times 10^{-3}$, is extracted. The results are based on a data set containing 198 million bottom-antibottom meson pairs corresponding to an integrated luminosity of $190\;\text{fb}^{-1}$ recorded by the Belle II detector in energy-asymmetric electron-positron collisions at the $Υ(4S)$ resonance. We measure ${\mathcal{B}(B^+ \rightarrow π^+ π^0) = (6.12 \pm 0.53 \pm 0.53)\times 10^{-6}}$, ${\mathcal{B}(B^+ \rightarrow K^+ π^0) = (14.30 \pm 0.69 \pm 0.79)\times 10^{-6}}$, ${\mathcal{A}_{\it CP}(B^+ \rightarrow π^+ π^0) = -0.085 \pm 0.085 \pm 0.019}$, and ${\mathcal{A}_{\it CP}(B^+ \rightarrow K^+ π^0) = 0.014 \pm 0.047 \pm 0.010}$, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic. Abstract: We present a measurement of the branching fraction and longitudinal polarization of $B^0 \to ρ^+ ρ^-$ decays. Abstract: Using $(771.6 \pm 10.6) \times 10^6$ $B\bar{B}$ meson pairs recorded by the Belle experiment at the KEKB $e^+ e^-$ collider, we report the branching fractions $\mathcal{B}(\bar{B}^0 \to D^{*+} π^-) = (2.62 \pm 0.02 \pm 0.09)\times 10^{-3}$ and $\mathcal{B}(\bar{B}^0 \to D^{*+} K^-) = (2.22 \pm 0.06 \pm 0.08)\times 10^{-4}$; the quoted uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. Furthermore, we report a new QCD factorization test based on the measured ratios for $\bar{B} \to D^{*+}h^-$ and $\bar{B} \to D^{*+}\ell^-ν$ decays at squared momentum transfer values equivalent to the mass of the $h = π$ or $K$ hadron. The parameters $|a_1(h)|$ are measured to be $|a_1(π)|= 0.884 \pm 0.004 \pm 0.003 \pm 0.016$ and $|a_1(K)|=0.913 \pm 0.019 \pm 0.008 \pm 0.013$, where the last uncertainties account for all external inputs. These values are approximately $15\%$ lower than those expected from theoretical predictions. Subsequently, flavor $SU(3)$ symmetry is tested by measuring the ratios for pions and kaons, $|a_1(K)|^2/ |a_1(π)|^2=1.066 \pm 0.042 \pm 0.018 \pm 0.023$, as well as for different particle species. The ratio is consistent with unity and therefore no evidence for $SU(3)$ symmetry breaking effects is found at the $5\%$ precision level. △ Less

We reconstruct $B^+\to ρ^+(\to π^+π^0(\to γγ))ρ^0(\to π^+π^-)$ decays in a sample of SuperKEKB electron-positron collisions collected by the Belle II experiment in 2019, 2020, and 2021 at the $Υ$(4S) resonance and corresponding to 190 fb$^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity. We fit the distributions of the difference between expected and observed $B$ candidate energy, continuum-suppression discriminant, dipion masses, and decay angles of the selected samples, to determine a signal yield of $345 \pm 31$ events. The signal yields are corrected for efficiencies determined from simulation and control data samples to obtain $\mathcal{B}(B^+ \to ρ^+ρ^0) = [23.2^{+\ 2.2}_{-\ 2.1} (\rm stat) \pm 2.7 (\rm syst)]\times 10^{-6}$, $f_L = 0.943 ^{+\ 0.035}_{-\ 0.033} (\rm stat)\pm 0.027(\rm syst)$, and $\mathcal{A}_{CP}=-0.069 \pm 0.068(\rm stat) \pm 0.060 (\rm syst)$. We measure the branching fractions of these decays for the entire range of the dilepton mass, excluding the very low mass region to suppress the $B \to K^{\ast}(892)γ(\to e^+e^-)$ background and regions compatible with decays of charmonium resonances, to be \begin{equation} {\cal B}(B \to K^{\ast}(892)μ^+μ^-) = (1.19 \pm 0.31 ^{+0.08}_{-0.07}) \times 10^{-6}, {\cal B}(B \to K^{\ast}(892)e^+e^-) = (1.42 \pm 0.48 \pm 0.09)\times 10^{-6}, {\cal B}(B \to K^{\ast}(892)\ell^+\ell^-) = (1.25 \pm 0.30 ^{+0.08}_{-0.07}) \times 10^{-6}, \end{equation} where the first and second uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. This white paper describes the physics potential of this `Chiral Belle' program. This white paper describes the physics potential of this `Chiral Belle' program. It includes projections for precision measurements of $\sin^2θ_W$ that can be obtained from independent left-right asymmetry measurements of $e^+e^-$ transitions to pairs of electrons, muons, taus, charm and b-quarks. The $\sin^2θ_W$ precision obtainable at SuperKEKB will match that of the LEP/SLC world average, but at the centre-of-mass energy of 10.58 GeV. Measurements of the couplings for muons, charm, and $b$-quarks will be substantially improved and the existing $3σ$ discrepancy between the SLC $A_{LR}$ and LEP $A_{FB}^b$ measurements will be addressed. Precision measurements of neutral current universality will be more than an order of magnitude more precise than currently available. As the energy scale is well away from the $Z^0$-pole, the precision measurements will have sensitivity to the presence of a parity-violating dark sector gauge boson, $Z_{\rm dark}$. The program also enables the measurement of the anomalous magnetic moment $g-2$ form factor of the $τ$ to be made at an unprecedented level of precision. A precision of $10^{-5}$ level is accessible with 40~ab$^{-1}$ and with more data it would start to approach the $10^{-6}$ level. This technique would provide the most precise information from the third generation about potential new physics explanations of the muon $g-2$ $4σ$ anomaly. Additional $τ$ and QCD physics programs enabled or enhanced with having polarized electron beams are also discussed in this White Paper. Abstract: We report the first search for the penguin-dominated process $B^0 \rightarrow K_S^0 K_S^0 γ$ using the full data sample of $772\times 10^6$ $B\bar{B}$ pairs collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy $e^+ e^-$ collider. Since approximately 2010, US nonproliferation researchers, supported by the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), have been studying a range of possible applications of relatively large (100 ton) to very large (hundreds of kiloton) water and scintillator neutrino detectors. In parallel, the fundamental physics community has been develo** detectors at similar scales and with similar design features for a range of high-priority physics topics, primarily in fundamental neutrino physics. These topics include neutrino oscillation studies at beams and reactors, solar, and geological neutrino measurements, supernova studies, and others. Examples of ongoing synergistic work at U.S. national laboratories and universities include prototype gadolinium-doped water and water-based and opaque scintillator test-beds and demonstrators, extensive testing and industry partnerships related to large area fast position-sensitive photomultiplier tubes, and the development of concepts for a possible underground kiloton-scale water-based detector for reactor monitoring and technology demonstrations. Some opportunities for engagement between the two communities include bi-annual Applied Antineutrino Physics conferences, collaboration with U.S. National Laboratories engaging in this research, and occasional NNSA funding opportunities supporting a blend of nonproliferation and basic science R&D, directed at the U.S. academic community. △ Less

First Measurement of the $Λ_c^+ \to p η'$ decay

Abstract: We present the first measurement of the branching fraction of the singly Cabibbo-suppressed (SCS) decay $Λ_c^+ \to p η'$ with $η' \to ηπ^+π^-$, using a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 981 $\rm fb^{-1}$, collected by the Belle detector at the KEKB $e^{+}$$e^{-}$ asymmetric-energy collider. Abstract: We search for a light Higgs boson ($A^0$) decaying into a $τ^+τ^-$ or $μ^+μ^-$ pair in the radiative decays of $Υ(1S)$. The production of $Υ(1S)$ mesons is tagged by $Υ(2S)\to π^+ π^- Υ(1S)$ transitions, using 158 million $Υ(2S)$ events accumulated with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric energy electron-positron collider. No significant $A^0$ signals in the mass range from the $τ^+τ^-$ or… ▽ More We search for a light Higgs boson ($A^0$) decaying into a $τ^+τ^-$ or $μ^+μ^-$ pair in the radiative decays of $Υ(1S)$. The production of $Υ(1S)$ mesons is tagged by $Υ(2S)\to π^+ π^- Υ(1S)$ transitions, using 158 million $Υ(2S)$ events accumulated with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric energy electron-positron collider. No significant $A^0$ signals in the mass range from the $τ^+τ^-$ or $μ^+μ^-$ threshold to 9.2 GeV/$c^2$ are observed. We set the upper limits at 90\% credibility level (C.L.) on the product branching fractions for $Υ(1S)\to γA^0$ and $A^0\to τ^+τ^-$ varying from $3.8\times10^{-6}$ to $1.5\times10^{-4}$. Our results represent an approximately twofold improvement on the current world best upper limits for the $Υ(1S)\to γA^0(\to τ^+τ^-)$ production. For $A^0\to μ^+μ^-$, the upper limits on the product branching fractions for $Υ(1S)\to γA^0$ and $A^0\to μ^+μ^-$ are at the same level as the world average limits, and vary from $3.1\times10^{-7}$ to $1.6\times10^{-5}$. The upper limits at 90\% C.L. on the Yukawa coupling $f_{Υ(1S)}$ and mixing angle ${\rm sin}θ_{A^0}$ are also given. △ Less

The branching fraction ratios ${\cal B}(Ω_{c}^{0} \to Ω^{-} e^{+} ν_{e})/{\cal B}(Ω_{c}^{0} \to Ω^{-} π^+)$ and ${\cal B}(Ω_{c}^{0} \to Ω^{-} μ^{+} ν_μ)/{\cal B}(Ω_{c}^{0} \to Ω^{-} π^+)$ are measured to be $1.98 \pm0.13~({\rm stat.}) \pm 0.08~({\rm syst.})$ and $ 1.94 \pm 0.18~({\rm stat.}) \pm 0.10~({\rm syst.})$, respectively. We reconstruct $B^+\to ρ^+(\to π^+π^0(\to γγ))ρ^0(\to π^+π^-)$ decays in a sample of SuperKEKB electron-positron collisions collected by the Belle II experiment in 2019 and 2020 at the $Υ$(4S) resonance and corresponding to $62.8$ fb$^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity. We fit the distributions of the difference between expected and observed $B$ candidate energy, continuum-suppression variable, dipion masses, and angular distributions of the resulting samples, to determine a signal yield of $104\pm16$ events. The signal yields are corrected for efficiencies determined from simulation and control data samples to obtain $\mathcal{B}(B^+ \to ρ^+ρ^0) = [20.6 \pm 3.2(\rm stat) \pm 4.0(\rm syst)]\times 10^{-6}$, and $f_L(B^+ \to ρ^+ρ^0) = 0.936 ^{+0.049}_{-0.041}(\rm stat)\pm 0.021(\rm syst)$. This first Belle II $B^+ \to ρ^+ρ^0$ angular analysis yields results compatible with previous determinations, and indicates Belle II performance superior to early Belle results. △ Less

Abstract: We report on measurements of branching fractions ($\mathcal{B}$) and CP-violating charge asymmetries ($\mathcal{A}_{\rm CP}$) of multibody charmless $B$ decays reconstructed by the Belle II experiment at the SuperKEKB electron-positron collider. We use a sample of collisions collected in 2019 and 2020 at the $Υ(4S)$ resonance and corresponding to $62.8$ fb$^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity. We use s… ▽ More We report on measurements of branching fractions ($\mathcal{B}$) and CP-violating charge asymmetries ($\mathcal{A}_{\rm CP}$) of multibody charmless $B$ decays reconstructed by the Belle II experiment at the SuperKEKB electron-positron collider. We use a sample of collisions collected in 2019 and 2020 at the $Υ(4S)$ resonance and corresponding to $62.8$ fb$^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity. We use simulation to determine optimized event selections. The $ΔE$ and $M_{\rm bc}$ distributions of the resulting samples are fit to determine signal yields of approximately 690, 840, and 380 decays for the channels $B^+ \to K^+K^-K^+$, $B^+ \to K^+π^-π^+$, and $B^0 \to K^+π^-π^0$, respectively. These yields are corrected for efficiencies determined from simulation and control data samples to obtain $\mathcal{B}(B^+ \to K^+K^-K^+) = [35.8 \pm 1.6(\rm stat) \pm 1.4 (\rm syst)]\times 10^{-6}$, $\mathcal{B}(B^+ \to K^+π^-π^+) = [67.0 \pm 3.3 (\rm stat)\pm 2.3 (\rm syst)]\times 10^{-6}$, $\mathcal{B}(B^0 \to K^+π^-π^0) = [38.1 \pm 3.5 (\rm stat)\pm 3.9 (\rm syst)]\times 10^{-6}$, $\mathcal{A}_{\rm CP}(B^+ \to K^+K^-K^+) = -0.103 \pm 0.042(\rm stat) \pm 0.020 (\rm syst)$, $\mathcal{A}_{\rm CP}(B^+ \to K^+π^-π^+) = -0.010 \pm 0.050 (\rm stat)\pm 0.021(\rm syst)$, and $\mathcal{A}_{\rm CP}(B^0 \to K^+π^-π^0) = 0.207 \pm 0.088 (\rm stat)\pm 0.011(\rm syst)$. We use samples of 2019 and 2020 data corresponding to 62.8 fb$^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity. The samples are analysed using two-dimensional fits in $ΔE$ and $M_{\it bc}$ to determine signal yields of approximately 568, 103, and 115 decays for the channels $B^0 \to K^+π^-$, $B^+ \to K_{\rm S}^0π^+$, and $B^0 \to π^+π^-$, respectively. Signal yields are corrected for efficiencies determined from simulation and control data samples to obtain branching fractions and CP-violating asymmetries for flavour-specific channels. The results are compatible with known determinations and contribute important information to an early assessment of Belle II detector performance. △ Less

Abstract: Using a data sample of 980~fb$^{-1}$ collected with the Belle detector operating at the KEKB asymmetric-energy $e^+e^-$ collider, we present evidence for the $Ω(2012)^-$ in the resonant substructure of $Ω_{c}^{0} \to π^+ (\bar{K}Ξ)^{-}$ ($(\bar{K}Ξ)^{-}$ = $K^-Ξ^0$ + $\bar{K}^0 Ξ^-$) decays. The significance of the $Ω(2012)^-$ signal is 4.2$σ$ after considering the systematic uncertainties. The individual ratios of the branching fractions of the two isospin modes are also determined, and found to be ${\cal B}(Ω_{c}^0 \to π^+ Ω(2012)^-) \times {\cal B}(Ω(2012)^- \to K^-Ξ^0)/{\cal B}(Ω_{c}^0 \to π^+ K^- Ξ^0)$ = (9.6 $\pm$ 3.2(stat.) $\pm$ 1.8(syst.))\% and ${\cal B}(Ω_{c}^0 \to π^+ Ω(2012)^-) \times {\cal B}(Ω(2012)^- \to \bar{K}^0 Ξ^-)/{\cal B}(Ω_{c}^0 \to π^+ \bar{K}^0 Ξ^-)$ = (5.5 $\pm$ 2.8(stat.) $\pm$ 0.7(syst.))\%. △ Less

We reconstruct and select about $50$ $B^0 \to K_S^0 π^0$ candidates, and we measure $\mathcal{A}_{K^0π^0} = -0.40_{-0.44}^{+0.46} (\text{stat}) \pm 0.04 (\text{syst})$ and $\mathcal{B}(B^0 \to K^0 π^0) = [8.5_{-1.6}^{+1.7} (\text{stat}) \pm 1.2 (\text{syst})] \times 10^{-6}$. This is the first measurement of $CP$ violation in $B^0 \to K^0π^0$ decays reported by Belle II. Abstract: This note describes the rediscovery of $B\toη' K$ decays in Belle II data, both in the charged and neutral final state: $B_0\toη' K_S$ and $B^\pm\toη' K^\pm$. The $η'$ is searched for in two decay modes: $η'\toηπ^+π^-$ with $η\toγγ$, and $η'\toργ$. Abstract: We report measurements of the branching fractions of singly Cabibbo-suppressed decays $Λ_c^+ \to p η$ and $Λ_c^+ \to p π^0$ using the full Belle data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 980.6 $\rm fb^{-1}$. The data were collected by the Belle detector at the KEKB $e^{+}$$e^{-}$ asymmetric-energy collider. A clear $Λ_c^+$ signal is seen in the invariant mass distribution of $p η$.… ▽ More We report measurements of the branching fractions of singly Cabibbo-suppressed decays $Λ_c^+ \to p η$ and $Λ_c^+ \to p π^0$ using the full Belle data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 980.6 $\rm fb^{-1}$. The data were collected by the Belle detector at the KEKB $e^{+}$$e^{-}$ asymmetric-energy collider. A clear $Λ_c^+$ signal is seen in the invariant mass distribution of $p η$. The signal yield of the $Λ_c^+ \to p η$ process is $7734 \pm 263$; from this, we measure the ratio of branching fractions ${\cal B}(Λ_c^+ \to p η)/{\cal B}(Λ_c^+ \to p K^- π^+) = (2.258 \pm 0. 077(\rm stat. ) \pm 0.136(\rm syst. ))\times 10^{-2}$, from which we infer the branching fraction ${\cal B}(Λ_c^+ \to p η) = (1.42 \pm 0.05(\rm stat.) \pm 0.11(\rm syst.)) \times 10^{-3}$. In addition, no significant signal for $Λ_c^+ \to p π^0$ is found so an upper limit on the branching fraction of ${\cal B}(Λ_c^+ \to p π^0)<8.0 \times 10^{-5}$ at 90\% credibility level is set, more than three times better than the best current upper limit. △ Less

We present these measurements, relative to the normalization mode $Ξ^{-}π^{+}$, and find branching ratios $\frac{\mathcal{B}(Ξ_{c}^{0} \rightarrow Ξ^{0} φ(\rightarrow K^{+}K^{-}))}{\mathcal{B}(Ξ_{c}^{0} \rightarrow Ξ^{-} π^{+})} = 0.036 \pm 0.004 (stat.) \pm 0.002 (syst.)$ and $\frac{\mathcal{B}(Ξ_{c}^{0} \rightarrow Ξ^{0} K^{+} K^{-})}{\mathcal{B}(Ξ_{c}^{0} \rightarrow Ξ^{-} π^{+})} = 0.039 \pm 0.004 (stat.) \pm 0.002 (syst.)$ which suggest that only minor cus** peaks occur in the combinatorial background of $Ω^{*-} \to Ξ^{0}K^{-}$ due to these $Ξ_{c}^{0}$ decays. △ Less

Abstract: We report on first measurements of branching fractions~($\mathcal{B}$) and CP-violating charge asymmetries~($\mathcal{A}$) in charmless $B$ decays at Belle~II. We use a sample of electron-positron collisions collected in 2019 and 2020 at the $Υ(4S)$ resonance and corresponding to $34.6$\,fb$^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity. We use simulation to determine optimized event selections. The $ΔE$ distrib… ▽ More We report on first measurements of branching fractions~($\mathcal{B}$) and CP-violating charge asymmetries~($\mathcal{A}$) in charmless $B$ decays at Belle~II. We use a sample of electron-positron collisions collected in 2019 and 2020 at the $Υ(4S)$ resonance and corresponding to $34.6$\,fb$^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity. We use simulation to determine optimized event selections. The $ΔE$ distributions of the resulting samples, restricted in $M_{\rm bc}$, are fit to determine signal yields. Signal yields are corrected for efficiencies determined from simulation and control data samples to obtain branching fractions and CP-violating asymmetries for flavour-specific channels. These are the first measurements in charmless decays reported by Belle~II. Results are compatible with known determinations and show detector performance comparable with the best Belle results offering a reliable basis to assess projections for future reach. △ Less

Search for the Decay $B_s^0 \rightarrow η^\prime η$

Abstract: In the Standard Model (SM) charmless hadronic decays $B_s^0 \rightarrow η^\prime η$ proceed via tree-level $b\to u$ and penguin $b\to s$ transitions. Penguin transitions are sensitive to Beyond-the-Standard-Model (BSM) physics scenarios and could affect the branching fractions and {\it CP} asymmetries in such decays. The $X_c$ system is identified by the remaining reconstructed tracks and clusters in the electromagnetic calorimeter. Study of Electromagnetic Decays of Orbitally Excited $Ξ_c$ Baryons

We also present evidence (3.8 standard deviations) for the similar decay of the $Ξ_c(2790)^0$ and measure: $B[Ξ_c(2790)^{0}\toΞ_c^{0}γ]/B[Ξ_c(2790)^0\toΞ_c^{\prime +}π^{-}\toΞ_c^{+}γπ^-] = 0.13 \pm 0.03 \pm 0.02$. The first quoted uncertainties are statistical and the second systematic. We find no hint of the analogous decays of the $Ξ_c(2815)^+$ and $Ξ_c(2790)^+$ baryons and set upper limits at the 90% confidence level of: $B[Ξ_c(2815)^{+}\toΞ_c^{+}γ]/B[Ξ_c(2815)^+\toΞ_c(2645)^0π^+\toΞ_c^+π^-π^+] < 0.09,$ and $B[Ξ_c(2790)^{+}\toΞ_c^{+}γ]/B[Ξ_c(2790)^+\toΞ_c^{\prime 0}π^{+}\toΞ_c^{0}γπ^+] < 0.06.$ Approximate values of the partial widths of the decays are extracted, which can be used to discriminate between models of the underlying quark structure of these excited states. △ Less
