The leading-order perturbative QCD (pQCD) predictions to nucleon electromagnetic form factors were first made in late 70s. Nearly half a century later, we accomplish the calculation of the next-to-leading-order (NLO) QCD corrections to proton and neutron's Dirac form factors at large momentum transfer, to the leading-twist accuracy in collinear factorization. The effect of NLO perturbative corrections turns out to be positive and substantial. Confronting our state-of-the-art pQCD predictions with the available data for nucleon Dirac form factors, in both space-like and time-like regions, imposes a stringent test on the validity of the parameterized forms of nucleon leading-twist light-cone-distribution amplitudes (LCDAs), which have been predicted by a class of QCD sum rules-based models and lattice QCD simulation.

In this work we advocate a set of novel azimuthal-angle-related observables associated with exclusive hadron production from two-photon fusion at $e^+ e^-$ colliders, taking the $γγ\to ππ$ as a benchmark process. As a direct consequence of the linearly polarized quasi-real photons emitted off the electron and positron beams, the $\cos 2φ$ azimuthal asymmetry in dipion production is predicted within the transverse-momentum-dependent (TMD) factorization framework. In numerical analysis, we take the helicity amplitudes of $γγ\to ππ$ determined from the partial wave solutions in dispersion relation as input, and find that the predicted $\cos2φ$ azimuthal modulation may reach 40\% for the typical kinematical setup of {\tt Belle} experiment. Future accurate measurement of this azimuthal asymmetry may facilitate the direct extraction of the relative phase between two helicity amplitudes with photon helicity configurations $++$ and $+-$. This knowledge provides a valuable input for the dispersive determination of the hadronic light-by-light (Hlbl) contributions, which constitutes one of the largest theoretical uncertainties in predictions for the muon anomalous magnetic moment.

The KM2A is the largest sub-array of the Large High Altitude Air Shower Observatory (LHAASO). It consists of 5216 electromagnetic particle detectors (EDs) and 1188 muon detectors (MDs). The data recorded by the EDs and MDs are used to reconstruct primary information of cosmic ray and gamma-ray showers. This information is used for physical analysis in gamma-ray astronomy and cosmic ray physics. To ensure the reliability of the LHAASO-KM2A data, a three-level quality control system has been established. It is used to monitor the status of detector units, stability of reconstructed parameters and the performance of the array based on observations of the Crab Nebula and Moon shadow. This paper will introduce the control system and its application on the LHAASO-KM2A data collected from August 2021 to July 2023. During this period, the pointing and angular resolution of the array were stable. From the observations of the Moon shadow and Crab Nebula, the results achieved using the two methods are consistent with each other. According to the observation of the Crab Nebula at energies from 25 TeV to 100 TeV, the time averaged pointing errors are estimated to be $-0.003^{\circ} \pm 0.005^{\circ}$ and $0.001^{\circ} \pm 0.006^{\circ}$ in the R.A. and Dec directions, respectively.

The conventional wisdom in dealing with electromagnetic transition between heavy quarkonia is the multipole expansion, when the emitted photon has a typical energy of order quarkonium binding energy. Nevertheless, in the case when the energy carried by the photon is of order typical heavy quark momentum, the multipole expansion doctrine is expected to break down. In this work, we apply the "hard-scattering" approach originally developed to tackle the strongly hindered magnetic dipole ($M1$) transition [Y.~Jia {\it et al.}, Phys. \ Rev. \ D. 82, 014008 (2010)] to the strongly hindered electric dipole ($E1$) transition between heavy quarkonia. We derive the factorization formula for the strongly hindered $E1$ transition rates at the lowest order in velocity and $α_s$ in the context of the non-relativistic QCD (NRQCD), and conduct a detailed numerical comparison with the standard predictions for various bottomonia and charmonia $E1$ transition processes.

We investigate the next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO) QCD radiative corrections to the pion electromagnetic form factor with large momentum transfer. We explicitly verify the validity of the collinear factorization to two-loop order for this observable, and obtain the respective IR-finite two-loop hard-scattering kernel in the closed form. The NNLO QCD correction turns to be positive and significant. Incorporating this new ingredient of correction, we then make a comprehensive comparison between the finest theoretical predictions and numerous pion form factor measurements in both space-like and time-like regions. Our phenomenological analysis provides strong constraint on the second Gegenbauer moment of the pion light-cone distribution amplitude (LCDA) obtained from recent lattice QCD studies.

The failure of observing the $e^+ e^- \to J/ψ+J/ψ$ events at $B$ factories to date is often attributed to the significant negative order-$α_s$ correction. In this work we compute the ${\cal O}(α^2_s)$ correction to this process for the first time. The magnitude of the next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO) perturbative correction is substantially negative so that the standard NRQCD prediction would suffer from an unphysical, negative cross section. This dilemma may be traced in the fact that the bulk contribution of the fixed-order radiative corrections stems from the perturbative corrections to the $J/ψ$ decay constant. We thus implement an improved NRQCD factorization framework, by decomposing the amplitude into the photon-fragmentation piece and the non-fragmentation piece. With the measured $J/ψ$ decay constant as input, which amounts to resumming a specific class of radiative and relativistic corrections to all orders, the fragmentation-induced production rate can be predicted accurately and serves a benchmark prediction. The non-fragmentation type of the amplitude is then computed through NNLO in $α_s$ and at lowest order in velocity. Both the ${\cal O}(α_s)$ and ${\cal O}(α^2_s)$ corrections in the interference term become positive and exhibit a decent convergence behavior. Our finest prediction is $σ(e^+ e^- \to J/ψ+J/ψ)= 2.13^{+0.30}_{-0.06}$ fb at $\sqrt{s}=10.58$ GeV. With the projected integrated luminosity of 50 ${\rm ab}^{-1}$, the prospect to observe this exclusive process at \texttt{Belle} 2 experiment appears to be bright.

Within the framework of nonrelativistic QCD (NRQCD) factorization, we compute the three-loop QCD corrections to the decay constant of $B_c$. We reconstruct the analytical expressions for the three-loop renormalization constant and the corresponding anomalous dimension affiliated with the pseudoscalar current composed of two different heavy flavors in NRQCD, which are functions of the ratio between the charm and bottom quark masses. Meanwhile, the short-distance coefficient is obtained with very high numerical accuracy. The three-loop QCD correction turns out to be overwhelmingly large. The phenomenological implication of this new piece of radiative corrections for the $B_c$ leptonic decay is also addressed.

We find that the photoproduction rates of the $C$-even quarkonia through this mechanism are comparable in magnitude with that through the odderon-initiated mechanism, even in the Regge limit ($s\gg -t$), though the latter types of predictions suffers from considerable theoretical uncertainties. The future measurements of these types of quarkonium photoproduction processes in \texttt{EIC} and \texttt{EicC} are crucial to ascertain which mechanism plays the dominant role.

The flux variations of cosmic ray air showers were studied by analyzing the KM2A data during the thunderstorm on 10 June 2021. The number of shower events that meet the trigger conditions increases significantly in atmospheric electric fields, with maximum fractional increase of 20%. The variations of trigger rates (increases or decreases) are found to be strongly dependent on the primary zenith angle. The flux of secondary particles increases significantly, following a similar trend with that of the shower events. To better understand the observed behavior, Monte Carlo simulations are performed with CORSIKA and G4KM2A (a code based on GEANT4). We find that the experimental data (in saturated negative fields) are in good agreement with simulations, assuming the presence of a uniform upward electric field of 700 V/cm with a thickness of 1500 m in the atmosphere above the observation level. Due to the acceleration/deceleration and deflection by the atmospheric electric field, the number of secondary particles with energy above the detector threshold is modified, resulting in the changes in shower detection rate.

We compute the ${\mathcal O}(α_s^2)$ corrections to the exclusive channels $e^+e^-\to J/ψ+χ_{cJ}$ ($J=0,1,2$) at $\sqrt{s}=10.58$ GeV within the nonrelativistic QCD (NRQCD) factorization framework. The validity of NRQCD factorization at ${\cal O}(α_s^2)$ has been confirmed for these double-charmonium exclusive production processes. We analyze the impact of the $\mathcal{O}(α_s^2)$ corrections on the polarized and unpolarized cross sections, as well as the $J/ψ$ angular distributions, which largely reduce the renormalization scale dependence but increase the ${\mathcal O}(α_s)$ NRQCD predictions to some extent for $χ_{c0,1}$. With high numerical accuracy, our predictions for $σ(J/ψ+χ_{c1,2})$ through ${\mathcal O}(α_s^2)$ are compatible with the upper limit of the \texttt{Belle} measurement. Although the theoretical prediction for $σ(J/ψ+χ_{c0})$ is consistent with both \texttt{Belle} and \texttt{BaBar} measurements within uncertainties, there still exists serious tension between the predicted and the measured profiles for the $J/ψ$ angular distribution. Regarding the bright observation prospect of the $e^+e^-\to J/ψ+χ_{c1,2}$ channels in \texttt{Belle 2} experiment, it is interesting to compare the future measurements with our NRQCD predictions. The more accurate measurement of $e^+e^-\to J/ψ+χ_{0}$ at \texttt{Belle 2} will also help to clarify the long-standing puzzle of $J/ψ$ angular distribution.

The focal plane camera is the core component of the Wide Field-of-view Cherenkov/fluorescence Telescope Array (WFCTA) of the Large High-Altitude Air Shower Observatory (LHAASO). Because of the capability of working under moonlight without aging, silicon photomultipliers (SiPM) have been proven to be not only an alternative but also an improvement to conventional photomultiplier tubes (PMT) in this application. Eighteen SiPM-based cameras with square light funnels have been built for WFCTA. The telescopes have collected more than 100 million cosmic ray events and preliminary results indicate that these cameras are capable of working under moonlight. The characteristics of the light funnels and SiPMs pose challenges (e.g. dynamic range, dark count rate, assembly techniques). In this paper, we present the design features, manufacturing techniques and performances of these cameras. Within the nonrelativistic QCD (NRQCD) factorization framework, we compute the ${\mathcal O}(α_s v^2)$ corrections to the hadronic decay rate of vector quarkonia, exemplified by $J/ψ$ and $Υ$. Setting both the renormalization and NRQCD factorization scales to be $m_Q$, we obtain $Γ(J/ψ\to {\rm LH})= 0.0716\frac{α_s^3}{m_c^2} \langle \mathcal{O}_1({}^3S_1)\rangle_{J/ψ} [1-1.19α_s+(-5.32+3.03α_s)\langle v^2\rangle_{J/ψ}]$ and $Γ(Υ\to {\rm LH})= 0.0716\frac{α_s^3}{m_b^2}\langle\mathcal{O}_1({}^3S_1)\rangle_Υ[1-1.56α_s+(-5.32+4.61α_s)\langle v^2\rangle_Υ]$. We confirm the previous calculation of $\mathcal{O}(α_s)$ corrections on a diagram-by-diagram basis, with the accuracy significantly improved. For $J/ψ$ hadronic decay, we find that the ${\mathcal O}(α_sv^2)$ corrections are moderate and positive, nevertheless unable to counterbalance the huge negative corrections. On the other hand, the effect of ${\mathcal O}(α_sv^2)$ corrections for $Υ(nS)$ is sensitive to the $\mathcal{O}(v^2)$ NRQCD matrix elements. With the appropriate choice of the NRQCD matrix elements, our theoretical predictions for the decay rates may be consistent with the experimental data for $Υ(1S,2S)\to {\rm LH}$. As a byproduct, we also present the theoretical predictions for the branching ratio of $J/ψ(Υ)\to 3γ$ accurate up to $\mathcal{O}(α_s v^2)$.

Owing to more pronounced collinear enhancement, the branching fractions of vector mesons decays into $ 2(e^+e^-)$ are considerably greater than those for decays into $2(μ^+μ^-)$. The $X(6900)$ resonance, very recently discovered in the double-$J/ψ$ channel at LHCb experiment, has spurred intensive interest in unravelling the nature of the fully charmed tetraquark state. The aim of this paper is to present a model-independent theoretical framework to study the inclusive production of this novel species of exotic hadrons, the resonances composed of four heavy quark (commonly referred to as $T_{4c}$), at large $p_T$ in hadron collision experiments. Appealing to asymptotic freedom and the fact $m_c\gg Λ_{\rm QCD}$, we propose that the nonpertubative yet universal gluon-to-$T_{4c}$ fragmentation function, can be decomposed into the product of the perturbatively calculable short-distance coefficient and the long-distance NRQCD matrix elements. We compute the short-distance coefficient at lowest-order in $α_s$ and velocity expansion. Adopting the diquark ansatz to roughly estimate those not-yet-known NRQCD matrix elements, together with the standard QCD factorization theorem, we predict the differential production rates for the $T_{4c/4b}(0^{++})$ and $T_{4c/4b}(2^{++})$ at large $p_T$ in $pp$ collision, which eagerly awaits the confrontation with the future LHC experiments.

Analogous to NRQCD factorization for heavy quarkonium exclusive production, in this work we propose to employ the heavy-quark-effective-theory (HQET) factorization, which has been predominantly applied to account for exclusive $B$ decays, to study the exclusive production of the heavy-flavored mesons. We take $W\to B(D_s)+γ$ as a prototype process. The validity of the HQET factorization rests upon the presumed scale hierarchy: $m_W\sim m_b\gg Λ_{\rm QCD}$. Through an explicit analysis at next-to-leading order in $α_s$ yet at leading order in $1/m_b$, we verify that the decay form factors can indeed be expressed as the convolution between perturbatively calculable hard-scattering kernel and the $B$ meson light-cone distribution amplitude (LCDA) defined in HQET. It is observed that the factorization scale dependence becomes reduced after incorporating the NLO perturbative correction. An interesting future investigation is to identify and resum large collinear logarithms of $m_W/m_b$ that arise ubiquitously in the fixed-order expressions of the hard-scattering kernel in HQET factorization.

The rare process of $W$ radiative decay into the $B_c$ meson can serve as an interesting play ground for testing two influential perturbative QCD approaches: non-relativistic quantum chromodynamics (NRQCD) and ligh-cone (LC) factorization. Since the $B_c$ meson is a genuine heavy quarkonium which is composed of two different species of heavy quarks, it is natural to employ NRQCD factorization to tackle this exclusive quarkonium production process; on the other hand, since the mass of the $W$ boson is much greater than that of the $B_c$, the collinear factorization is also a viable approach. To fully disentangle the contributions from several distinct scales $M_W$, $m_Q$, $m_Q v$ ($v$ represents the typical velocity of the $c/\bar{b}$ quarks inside $B_c$), and $Λ_{\rm QCD}$, we carry out a joint analysis that combines both light-cone and NRQCD factorization approaches, and compute the order-$α_s$ correction to $W \to B_c+γ$. With the aid of the celebrated Efremov-Radyushkin-Brodsky-Lepage (ERBL) evolution equation, we resum the leading collinear logarithms $α_s \ln\! {M_W\over m_Q}$ to all orders in $α_s$. We also explore some phenomenological implications of our predictions.

For the first time, we confirm that NRQCD factorization does hold at next-to-next-to-leading-order (NNLO) for exclusive double charmonium production. It is found that including the NNLO QCD correction considerably reduces the renormalization scale dependence, and also implies the reasonable perturbative convergence behavior for this process. Our state-of-the-art prediction is consistent with the BaBar measurement within errors.

The projected accuracy of the corresponding cross section measurement is about per cent level at CEPC. In this work, we investigate both ${\mathcal O}(α)$ weak correction and the ${\mathcal O}(αα_s)$ mixed electroweak-QCD corrections for this channel, appropriately taking into account the effect of finite $Z^0$ width. The $μ^+μ^-$ invariant mass spectrum is also predicted. The mixed electroweak-QCD correction turns out to reach 1.5\% of the Born-order result, and thereby must be included in future confrontation with the data. We also observe that, after including higher-order corrections, the simplified prediction for the integrated cross section employing the narrow-width-approximation may deviate from our full result by a few per cents.

We calculate the next-to-leading order (NLO) radiative correction to the color-octet $h_c$ inclusive production in $e^+e^-$ annihilation at Super $B$ factory, within the nonrelativistic QCD factorization framework. The analytic expression for the NLO short-distance coefficient (SDC) accompanying the color-octet production operator $\mathcal{O}_8^{h_c}(^1S_0)$ is obtained after summing both virtual and real corrections. The size of NLO correction for the color-octet production channel is found to be positive and substantial. The NLO prediction to the $h_c$ energy spectrum is plagued with unphysical endpoint singularity. With the aid of the soft-collinear effective theory, those large endpoint logarithms are resummed to the next-to-leading logarithmic (NLL) accuracy. Consequently, further supplemented with the non-perturbative shape function, we obtain the well-behaved predictions for the $h_c$ energy spectrum in the entire kinematic range, which awaits the examination by the forthcoming Belle II experiment.

In particular, we compute for the first time contributions induced by octet operators with a chromoelectric field. The matching coefficients multiplying production long distance matrix elements (LDMEs) are determined through perturbative matching between QCD and NRQCD at the amplitude level. Technical challenges encountered in the non-relativistic expansion of the QCD amplitudes are discussed in detail. The main source of uncertainty comes from the not so well known LDMEs. Accounting for it, we provide the following estimates for the production cross sections at $\sqrt{s} = 10.6\textrm{ GeV}$: $σ(e^+ e^- \to χ_{ c0} + γ) = (1.3 \pm 0.4) \textrm{ fb}$, $σ(e^+ e^- \to χ_{ c1} + γ) = (15.4 \pm 6.7) \textrm{ fb}$, and $σ(e^+ e^- \to χ_{ c2} + γ) = (4.7 \pm 2.6) \textrm{ fb}$.

After the recent historical discovery of gravitational wave, it is curious to speculate upon the detection prospect of the quantum graviton in the terrestrial accelerator-based experiment. We carefully investigate the "golden" channels, $J/ψ(Υ)\toγ+\text{graviton}$, which can be pursued at \textsf{BESIII} and \textsf{Belle 2} experiments, by searching for single-photon plus missing energy events. Within the effective field theory (EFT) framework of General Relativity (GR) together with Nonrelativistic QCD (NRQCD), we are capable of making solid predictions for the corresponding decay rates. It is found that these extremely suppressed decays are completely swamped by the Standard Model background events $J/ψ(Υ)\to γ+ν\barν$. Meanwhile, we also study these rare decay processes in the context of massive gravity, and find the respective decay rates in the limit of vanishing graviton mass drastically differ from their counterparts in GR. Counterintuitive as the failure of smoothly recovering GR results may look, our finding is reminiscent of the van Dam-Veltman-Zakharov (vDVZ) discontinuity widely known in classical gravity, which can be traced to the finite contribution of the helicity-zero graviton in the massless limit. Nevertheless, at this stage we are not certain about the fate of the discontinuity encountered in this work, whether it is merely a pathology or not. If it could be endowed with some physical significance, the future observation of these rare decay channels, would, in principle, shed important light on the nature of gravitation, whether the graviton is strictly massless, or bears a very small but nonzero mass.

We compute the next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO) QCD corrections to the hadronic decay rates of the pseudoscalar quarkonia, at the lowest order in velocity expansion. The validity of NRQCD factorization for inclusive quarkonium decay process, for the first time, is verified to relative order $α_s^2$. As a byproduct, the renormalization group equation (RGE) of the leading NRQCD 4-fermion operator ${\cal O}_1({}^1S_0)$ is also deduced to this perturbative order. By incorporating this new piece of correction together with available relativistic corrections, we find that there exists severe tension between the state-of-the-art NRQCD predictions and the measured $η_c$ hadronic width, and in particular the branching fraction of $η_c\to γγ$. NRQCD appears to be capable of accounting for $η_b$ hadronic decay to a satisfactory degree, and our most refined prediction is ${\rm Br}(η_b\to γγ) = (4.8\pm 0.7)\times 10^{-5}$.

The unique detector features (full coverage, readout granularity, wide dynamic range, etc) and location (very high altitude) allowed a detailed study of the lateral density profile of charged particles at ground very close to the shower axis and its description by a proper lateral distribution function (LDF). In particular, the information collected in the first 10 m from the shower axis have been shown to provide a very effective tool for the determination of the shower development stage ("age") in the energy range 50 TeV - 10 PeV. The sensitivity of the age parameter to the mass composition of primary Cosmic Rays is also discussed.

The associated production of Higgs boson with a hard photon at lepton collider, i.e., $e^+e^-\to Hγ$, is known to bear a rather small cross section in Standard Model, and can serve as a sensitive probe for the potential new physics signals. Similar to the loop-induced Higgs decay channels $H\to γγ, Zγ$, the $e^+e^-\to Hγ$ process also starts at one-loop order provided that the tiny electron mass is neglected. In this work, we calculate the next-to-leading-order (NLO) QCD corrections to this associated $H+γ$ production process, which mainly stem from the gluonic dressing to the top quark loop. The QCD corrections are found to be rather modest at lower center-of-mass energy range ($\sqrt{s}<300$ GeV), thus of negligible impact on Higgs factory such as CEPC. Nevertheless, when the energy is boosted to the ILC energy range ($\sqrt{s}\approx 400$ GeV), QCD corrections may enhance the leading-order cross section by $20\%$. In any event, the $e^+e^-\to Hγ$ process has a maximal production rate $σ_{\rm max}\approx 0.08$ fb around $\sqrt{s}= 250$ GeV, thus CEPC turns out to be the best place to look for this rare Higgs production process. In the high energy limit, the effect of NLO QCD corrections become completely negligible, which can be simply attributed to the different asymptotic scaling behaviors of the LO and NLO cross sections, where the former exhibits a milder decrement $\propto 1/s$ , but the latter undergoes a much faster decrease $\propto 1/s^2$.

Merely incorporating the well-known next-to-leading order (NLO) electroweak corrections appears far from sufficient to match the unprecedented experimental precision. In this work, we make an important advancement toward this direction by investigating the mixed electroweak-QCD corrections to $e^+e^-\to HZ$ at next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO) for both unpolarized and polarized $Z$ boson. The corrections turn out to reach one percent level of the Born-order results, thereby must be incorporated in the future confrontation with the data.

The order-$α_s^2$ short-distance coefficients associated with each helicity amplitude are presented in a semi-analytic form, including the "light-by-light" contributions. With substantial NNLO corrections, we find disquieting discrepancy when confronting our state-of-the-art predictions with the latest \textsf{BESIII} measurements, especially fail to account for the measured $χ_{c2}\toγγ$ width. Incorporating the effects of spin-dependent forces would even exacerbate the situation, since it lifts the degeneracy between the nonperturbative NRQCD matrix elements of $χ_{c0}$ and $χ_{c2}$ toward the wrong direction. We also present the order-$α_s^2$ predictions to $χ_{b0,2}\toγγ$, which await the future experimental test.

After including the substantial negative order-$α_s^2$ correction, the good agreement between NRQCD prediction and the measured $γγ^*\to η_c$ form factor is completely ruined over a wide range of momentum transfer squared. A new hybrid experiment has been started by ASγ experiment at Tibet, China, since August 2011, which consists of a low threshold burst-detector-grid (YAC-II, Yangba**g Air shower Core array), the Tibet air-shower array (Tibet-III) and a large underground water Cherenkov muon detector (MD). In this paper, the capability of the measurement of the chemical components (proton, helium and iron) with use of the (Tibet-III+YAC-II) is investigated by means of an extensive Monte Carlo simulation in which the secondary particles are propagated through the (Tibet-III+YAC-II) array and an artificial neural network (ANN) method is applied for the primary mass separation. Our simulation shows that the new installation is powerful to study the chemical compositions, in particular, to obtain the primary energy spectrum of the major component at the knee.

We review some recent progress in understanding various exclusive double charmonium production processes at $B$ factories, within the nonrelativistic QCD factorization framework. First we investigate the impact of the joint perturbative and relativistic correction on the process that has attracted a great amount of attention in the past decade, $e^+e^-\to J/ψ+η_c$. We then briefly discuss the phenomenological implication of the next-to-leading order perturbative correction to the processes $e^+e^-\to J/ψ+χ_{c0,1,2} (η_{c2})$. We further emphasize a novel theoretical challenge, which is recently discovered by applying the NRQCD factorization approach to the helicity-suppressed hard exclusive reactions involving heavy quarkonium.

A detailed comparative study between $e^+e^-\to J/ψ+η_{c2}$ and $e^+e^-\to J/ψ+χ^\prime_{c1}$ at $B$ factory energy is also carried out. After incorporating the ${\cal O}(α_s)$ correction, we predict the cross section for the former process to be around 0.3 fb, while that of the latter about 6 times greater. The outgoing $J/ψ$ is found to be dominantly transversely-polarized in the former process, while longitudinally-polarized in the latter. These features may provide valuable guidance for the future experiment to examine the ${}^3P_1$ or ${}^1D_2$ charmonium option of the X(3872) meson through the exclusive double-charmonium production processes. The observation potential of $e^+e^-\to J/ψ+χ^\prime_{c1}$ looks bright for the current data sample of the \textsc{Belle} experiment, provided that the $χ^\prime_{c1}$ is indeed the narrow X(3872) state. In the appendix, we also identify the coefficients of the double logarithms of form $\ln^2(s/m_c^2)$ associated with all the relevant next-to-leading order Feynman diagrams, for the helicity-suppressed double-charmonium production channels $e^+ e^- \to J/ψ+ η_{c2}(η_c,χ_{c0,1,2})$.

To date it remains futile to make a definite prediction to confront with the branching fraction of $J/ψ\to 3γ$ recently measured by the \textsf{CLEO-c} and \textsf{BESIII} Collaborations. In this work, we investigate the joint perturbative and relativistic correction (i.e. the ${\mathcal O}(α_s v^2)$ correction, where $v$ denotes the characteristic velocity of the charm quark inside the $J/ψ$) for this decay process, which turns out to be very significant. After incorporating the contribution from this new ingredient, with the reasonable choice of the input parameters, we are able to account for the measured decay rates in a satisfactory degree.

Both the leading color-singlet and color-octet channels are included. For the $h_c$ production associated with light hadrons, the total production rate is dominated by the color-octet channel, thus the future measurement of this process may impose useful constraint on the value of the color-octet matrix element $<{\cal O}^{h_c}_8({}^1S_0)>$; for the $h_c$ production associated with charmed hadrons, the total production rate is about one order of magnitude smaller, and dominated by the color-singlet channel.

By pretending the $η_{c2}(1D)$ charmonium to be the $X(3872)$, we study the parity-even radiative transition processes $η_{c2}(1D)\to J/ψ(ψ')+γ$ within several phenomenological potential models. We take the ${}^3D_1$ admixture in $ψ'$ into account, and consider the contributions from the magnetic dipole ($M1$), electric quadrupole ($E2$), and magnetic octupole ($M3$) amplitudes. It is found that the ratio of the branching fractions of these two channels, as well as the absolute branching fraction of $η_{c2}\to ψ'γ$, are in stark contradiction with the existing \textsc{BaBar} measurements. This may indicate that the $2^{-+}$ assignment for the $X(3872)$ is highly problematic.

We study the first-order relativistic correction to the associated production of $J/ψ$ with light hadrons at $B$ factory experiments at $\sqrt{s}=10.58$ GeV, in the context of NRQCD factorization. We employ a strategy for NRQCD expansion that slightly deviates from the orthodox doctrine, in that the matching coefficients are not truly of ``short-distance" nature, but explicitly depend upon physical kinematic variables rather than partonic ones. Our matching method, with validity guaranteed by the Gremm-Kapustin relation, is particularly suited for the inclusive quarkonium production and decay processes with involved kinematics, exemplified by the process $e^+e^-\to J/ψ+gg$ considered in this work. Despite some intrinsic ambiguity affiliated with the order-$v^2$ NRQCD matrix element, if we choose its value as what has been extracted from a recent Cornell-potential-model-based analysis, including the relative order-$v^2$ effect is found to increase the lowest-order prediction for the integrated $J/ψ$ cross section by about 30\%, and exert a modest impact on $J/ψ$ energy, angular and polarization distributions except near the very upper end of the $J/ψ$ energy. The order-$v^2$ contribution to the energy spectrum becomes logarithmically divergent at the maximum of $J/ψ$ energy. A consistent analysis may require that these large end-point logarithms be resummed to all orders in $α_s$.

Two types of pseudoscalar quarkonium electromagnetic decay processes, i.e. decay to a lepton pair, and to a lepton pair plus a photon (Dalitz decay), are analyzed at the leading order in NRQCD expansion. The former type of processes, highly suppressed in the Standard Model, have been hoped to act as the sensitive probes of the possible new physics. The latter type of processes generally possess much greater decay rates than the former, owing to several conspiring factors. The recently launched BES-III program, with $10^8$ $η_c$ samples to be anticipated in the coming years, may be able to observe the Dalitz decays $η_c\to e^+e^-γ$ and $η_c\to μ^+μ^-γ$, which have branching ratios of order $10^{-6}$. When the radiated photon becomes very soft, the Dalitz decay events will be experimentally tagged as the exclusive lepton pair events. It is found that, those quasi-two-body events that arise from $η_c\to e^+ e^-γ$ with photon energy less than the minimum sensitivity of the electromagnetic calorimeter, can vastly outnumber the literal $η_c\to e^+ e^-$ events, however this amplification is still not dramatic enough for the BES-III experiment to establish these events. Consequently, the expectation of looking for new physics signature in the $η_c\to l^+l^-$ channel is obscured, unless the contamination from $η_c \to l^+l^-γ$ has been taken into account carefully.

For a class of hindered magnetic dipole ($M1$) transition processes, such as $Υ(3S)\to η_b+γ$ (the discovery channel of the $η_b$ meson), the emitted photon is rather energetic so that the traditional approaches based on multipole expansion may be invalidated. We propose that a "hard-scattering" picture, somewhat analogous to the pion electromagnetic form factor at large momentum transfer, may be more plausible to describe such types of transition processes. We work out a simple factorization formula at lowest order in the strong coupling constant, which involves convolution of the Schrödinger wave functions of quarkonia with a perturbatively calculable part induced by exchange of one semihard gluon between quark and antiquark. This formula, without any freely adjustable parameters, is found to agree with the measured rate of $Υ(3S)\to η_b+γ$ rather well, and can also reasonably account for other recently measured hindered $M1$ transition rates. The branching fractions of $Υ(4S)\to η_b^{(\prime)}+γ$ are also predicted.
