The half-size prototype of the multi wire drift chamber (MWDC) for the cooling storage ring (CSR) external-target experiment (CEE) was assembled and tested in 350 MeV/u Kr+Fe reactions on the heavy ion research facility in Lanzhou (HIRFL). The prototype consists of 6 sense layers, where the sense wires are stretched in three directions X, U and V, meeting $0^\circ$, $30^\circ$ and $-30^\circ$ with respect to the vertical axis, respectively. The sensitive area of the prototype is $76 {\rm cm} \times 76 {\rm cm}$. The amplified and shaped signals from the anode wires are digitized in a serial capacity array. Being operated with 1500 V high voltage on the anode wires, the efficiency for each layer is beyond 95\%. The tracking residual is about $301 \pm 2 \rm μm$. The performance meets the requirements of CEE.

Bremsstrahlung $γ$ production in heavy ion reactions at Fermi energies carries important physical information including the nuclear symmetry energy at supra-saturation densities. In order to detect the high energy Bremsstrahlung $γ$ rays, a hodoscope consisting of 15 CsI(Tl) crystal read out by photo multiplier tubes has been built, tested and operated in experiment. The resolution, efficiency and linear response of the units to $γ$ rays have been studied using radioactive source and $({\rm p},γ)$ reactions. The inherent energy resolution of $1.6\%+2\%/E_γ^{1/2}$ is obtained. Reconstruction method has been established through Geant 4 simulations, reproducing the experimental results where comparison can be made. Using the reconstruction method developed, the whole efficiency of the hodoscope is about $2.6\times 10^{-4}$ against the $4π$ emissions at the target position, exhibiting insignificant dependence on the energy of incident $γ$ rays above 20 MeV. The hodoscope is operated in the experiment of $^{86}$Kr + $^{124}$Sn at 25 MeV/u, and a full $γ$ energy spectrum up to 80 MeV has been obtained.

Abstract:
Focusing on recent measurement of $B^+ \to D_s^+D_s^-K^+$ process given by the LHCb Collaboration, we propose that this newly observed near the $D_s^+D_s^-$ threshold enhancement can be due to the contribution of the $χ_{c0}(2P)$, which is a $P$-wave charmonium below the $D_s^+D_s^-$ threshold. By performing a combined fit to the measured $D_s^+D_s^-$, $D_s^+K^+$, and $D_s^-K^+$ invariant mass spectra, introducing the $χ_{c0}(2P)$ can well reproduce the near threshold enhancement in the $D_s^+D_s^-$ invariant mass spectrum. When depicting the whole $D_s^+D_s^-$ invariant mass spectrum, the contributions from higher charmonium $ψ(4230)$ and charmoniumlike state $X_0(4140)$ are obvious. In addition, a charmed meson $D^*(3^3S_1)$ with mass around 3015 MeV is found to be important to depict the $D_s^-K^+$ invariant mass spectrum well. Especially, the importance of node effect of the spatial wave function of the $χ_{c0}(2P)$ is revealed, by which the anomaly of the ratio $Γ(X\to D^+D^-)/Γ(X\to D_s^+D_s^-)$ indicated by LHCb can be explained well. Finally, our scenario of the newly observed enhancement structure resulted from the $χ_{c0}(2P)$ is enforced.

More than a century after the performance of the oil drop experiment, the possible existence of fractionally charged particles FCP still remains unsettled. The search for FCPs is crucial for some extensions of the Standard Model in particle physics. Most of the previously conducted searches for FCPs in cosmic rays were based on experiments underground or at high altitudes. However, there have been few searches for FCPs in cosmic rays carried out in orbit other than AMS-01 flown by a space shuttle and BESS by a balloon at the top of the atmosphere. In this study, we conduct an FCP search in space based on on-orbit data obtained using the DArk Matter Particle Explorer (DAMPE) satellite over a period of five years. Unlike underground experiments, which require an FCP energy of the order of hundreds of GeV, our FCP search starts at only a few GeV. An upper limit of $6.2\times 10^{-10}~~\mathrm{cm^{-2}sr^{-1} s^{-1}}$ is obtained for the flux. Our results demonstrate that DAMPE exhibits higher sensitivity than experiments of similar types by three orders of magnitude that more stringently restricts the conditions for the existence of FCP in primary cosmic rays.

Stimulated by the newly observed $a_0(1817)$ by the BESIII Collaboration, we find a perfect Regge trajectory composed of the $a_0(980)$, $a_0(1450)$, and $a_0(1817)$, which leads us to categorize the $a_0(980)$, $a_0(1450)$, and $a_0(1817)$ into the isovector scalar meson family. This scenario is supported by their two-body Okubo-Zweig-Iizuka allowed strong decay behaviors. In this scheme, we also predict the third radial excitation of the $a_0(980)$, which is denoted as the $a_0(2115)$, accessible at future experiment as a direct test of this assignment. We find another Regge trajectory which contains three isoscalar scalar states $f_0(980)$, $X(1812)$, and $f_0(2100)$. We investigate their two-body Okubo-Zweig-Iizuka allowed strong decay patterns, which are roughly consistent with the experimental data. The $f_0(980)$, $X(1812)$, and $f_0(2100)$ can be well grouped into the isoscalar scalar meson family. We want to emphasize that these two Regge trajectories have a similar slope. In summary, the present work provides a scheme of constructing the scalar meson family based on these reported scalar states. The possibility of the $f_0(1710)$ as the candidate of the scalar glueball cannot be excluded by the observation of the $a_0(1817)$ since the $a_0(1817)$ is more suitable as the isovector partner of the $X(1812)$.

The Phase-I trigger readout electronics upgrade of the ATLAS Liquid Argon calorimeters enhances the physics reach of the experiment during the upcoming operation at increasing Large Hadron Collider luminosities. The new system, installed during the second Large Hadron Collider Long Shutdown, increases the trigger readout granularity by up to a factor of ten as well as its precision and range. Consequently, the background rejection at trigger level is improved through enhanced filtering algorithms utilizing the additional information for topological discrimination of electromagnetic and hadronic shower shapes. This paper presents the final designs of the new electronic elements, their custom electronic devices, the procedures used to validate their proper functioning, and the performance achieved during the commissioning of this system.

The DArk Matter Particle Explorer (DAMPE) is well suitable for searching for monochromatic and sharp $γ$-ray structures in the GeV$-$TeV range thanks to its unprecedented high energy resolution. In this work, we search for $γ$-ray line structures using five years of DAMPE data. To improve the sensitivity, we develop two types of dedicated data sets (including the BgoOnly data which is the first time to be used in the data analysis for the calorimeter-based gamma-ray observatories) and adopt the signal-to-noise ratio optimized regions of interest (ROIs) for different DM density profiles. No line signals or candidates are found between 10 and 300 GeV in the Galaxy. The constraints on the velocity-averaged cross section for $χχ\to γγ$ and the decay lifetime for $χ\to γν$, both at 95% confidence level, have been calculated and the systematic uncertainties have been taken into account. Comparing to the previous Fermi-LAT results, though DAMPE has an acceptance smaller by a factor of $\sim 10$, similar constraints on the DM parameters are achieved and below 100 GeV the lower limits on the decay lifetime are even stronger by a factor of a few. Our results demonstrate the potential of high-energy-resolution observations on dark matter detection.

A hardening of the spectrum is observed at an energy of about 1.3 TeV, similar to previous observations. In addition, a spectral softening at about 34 TeV is revealed for the first time with large statistics and well controlled systematic uncertainties, with an overall significance of $4.3σ$. The DAMPE spectral measurements of both cosmic protons and helium nuclei suggest a particle charge dependent softening energy, although with current uncertainties a dependence on the number of nucleons cannot be ruled out.

We present the design and the test results of a dual-channel Vertical-Cavity Surface-Emitting Laser (VCSEL) driver ASIC LOCld65 for detector front-end readout. LOCld65 is designed in a commercial 65-nm CMOS technology with a power supply of 1.2 V. LOCld65 contains two separate channels with the same structure and the two channels share an I2C slave. Each channel consists of an input amplifier, four stages of limiting amplifiers (LAs), a high-current output driver, and a bias-current generator. In order to extend the bandwidth, the input amplifier uses an inductive peaking technique and the LAs use a shared inductive peaking technique. The input amplifier and the output driver each utilize a Continuous-Time Linear Equalizer (CTLE). The LAs employ active feedback. The modulation current, the bias current, the peaking strength of the CTLEs, and the feedback strength of LAs are programmable through an I2C interface. In order to protect from the radiation damage, the I2C slave is implemented with triple modular redundancy. Each channel of LOCld65 is tested to operate up to 14 Gbps with typical power dissipations (the VCSEL included) of 68.3 mW/channel and 62.1 mW/channel at the VCSEL voltages of 3.3 V and 2.5 V, respectively. LOCld65 survives 4.9 kGy(SiO2). LOCld65 is an excellent match for the serializer-deserializer ASIC lpGBT in single- or dual-channel optical transmitters in HL-LHC upgrade applications.

The DArk Matter Particle Explorer (DAMPE), also known as Wukong in China, launched on December 17, 2015, is a new high energy cosmic ray and γ-ray satellite-borne observatory in space. One of the main scientific goals of DAMPE is to observe GeV-TeV high energy γ-rays with accurate energy, angular, and time resolution, to indirectly search for dark matter particles and for the study of high energy astrophysics. Due to the comparatively higher fluxes of charged cosmic rays with respect to γ-rays, it is challenging to identify γ-rays with sufficiently high efficiency minimizing the amount of charged cosmic ray contamination. In this work we present a method to identify γ-rays in DAMPE data based on Monte Carlo simulations, using the powerful electromagnetic/hadronic shower discrimination provided by the calorimeter and the veto detection of charged particles provided by the plastic scintillation detector. Monte Carlo simulations show that after this selection the number of electrons and protons that contaminate the selected γ-ray events at $\sim10$ GeV amounts to less than 1% of the selected sample. Finally, we use flight data to verify the effectiveness of the method by highlighting known γ-ray sources in the sky and by reconstructing preliminary light curves of the Geminga pulsar.

High energy cosmic ray electrons plus positrons (CREs), which lose energy quickly during their propagation, provide an ideal probe of Galactic high-energy processes and may enable the observation of phenomena such as dark-matter particle annihilation or decay. The CRE spectrum has been directly measured up to $\sim 2$ TeV in previous balloon- or space-borne experiments, and indirectly up to $\sim 5$ TeV by ground-based Cherenkov $γ$-ray telescope arrays. Evidence for a spectral break in the TeV energy range has been provided by indirect measurements of H.E.S.S., although the results were qualified by sizeable systematic uncertainties. Here we report a direct measurement of CREs in the energy range $25~{\rm GeV}-4.6~{\rm TeV}$ by the DArk Matter Particle Explorer (DAMPE) with unprecedentedly high energy resolution and low background. The majority of the spectrum can be properly fitted by a smoothly broken power-law model rather than a single power-law model. The direct detection of a spectral break at $E \sim0.9$ TeV confirms the evidence found by H.E.S.S., clarifies the behavior of the CRE spectrum at energies above 1 TeV and sheds light on the physical origin of the sub-TeV CREs.

The beam energy measurement system is of great importance and profit for both BEPC-II accelerator and BES-III detector. The system is based on measuring the energies of Compton back-scattered photons. Many advanced techniques and precise instruments are employed to realize the highly accurate measurement of positron/electron beam energy. During five year's running period, in order to meet the requirement of data taking and improve the capacity of measurement itself, the upgradation of system is continued, which involve the component reformation of laser and optics subsystem, replacement of view-port of the laser to vacuum insertion subsystem, the purchase of electric cooling system for high purity germanium detector, and the improvement of data acquisition and processing subsystem. The upgrading of system guarantees the smooth and efficient measuring of beam energy at BEPC-II and accommodates the accurate offline energy values for further physics analysis at BES-III.

PandaX is a large upgradable liquid-xenon detector system that can be used for both direct dark-matter detection and $^{136}$Xe double-beta decay search. It is located in the **** Deep-Underground Laboratory in Sichuan, China. The detector operates in dual-phase mode, allowing detection of both prompt scintillation, and ionization charge through proportional scintillation. The central time projection chamber will be staged, with the first stage accommodating a target mass of about 120\,kg. In stage II, the target mass will be increased to about 0.5\,ton. In the final stage, the detector can be upgraded to a multi-ton target mass. In this paper a detailed description of the stage-I detector design and performance results established during the commissioning phase is presented.

Abstract:
In this paper, we calculate the branching ratios and CP-violating asymmetries for $B_{s}\to ρ^\pm K^\mp$, $B_{s}\toρ^{0}\bar{K}^0 $ and $B_{s}\toω\bar{K}^0$ decays in the perturbative QCD (pQCD) factorization approach. The theoretical predictions for the CP averaged branching ratios of the considered decays are: $Br(B_{s}\toρ^\pm K^\mp)\approx 24.7 \times 10^{-6}$,…

Abstract:
We calculate the CP averaged branching ratios and CP-violating asymmetries for $B^0 \to ηη, ηη^\prime$ and $η^\prime η^\prime$ decays by employing the perturbative QCD (pQCD) factorization approach. The pQCD predictions for the CP-averaged branching ratios are $Br(B^0 \to ηη) \approx 0.67 \times 10^{-7}$, $Br(B^0 \to ηη^\prime) \approx 0.18 \times 10^{-7}$, and…

We also predict large CP-violating asymmetries for the considered three decay modes, which can be tested by the future B meson experiments.
