Hubble tension in a nonminimally coupled curvature-matter gravity model
Abstract: The presently open problem of the Hubble tension is shown to be removed in the context of a modified theory of gravity with a non-minimal coupling between curvature and matter. By evolving the cosmological parameters that match the cosmic microwave background data until their values from direct late-time measurements, we obtain an agreement between different experimental methods without disrupting… ▽ More

Equivalence principle violation in nonminimally coupled gravity and constraints from Lunar Laser Ranging
Abstract: We analyze the dynamics of the Sun-Earth-Moon system in the context of a particular class of theories of gravity where curvature and matter are nonminimally coupled (NMC). These theories can potentially violate the Equivalence Principle as they give origin to a fifth force and a extra non-Newtonian force that may imply that Earth and Moon fall differently towards the Sun. Seeding the vacuum with entropy: the Chaplygin-like vacuum hypothesis
Abstract: It is proposed that the vacuum admits two different phases as described by the Chaplygin equation of state or its generalised version: a phase where the energy density behaves as if dominated by non-relativistic matter and a de Sitter phase. The particle production due to the expansion that takes place at the matter-like phase can generate entanglement entropy and provide, through interactions, th… ▽ More

Homogeneous spherically symmetric bodies with a nonminimal coupling between curvature and matter: the choice of the Lagrangian density for matter
Abstract: In this work we study how a nonminimal coupling between matter and gravity can modify the structure of a homogeneous spherical body. The physical relevance of the adopted Lagrangian density is ascertained, with results obtained for two different choices of the latter.

Solar System constraints to nonminimally coupled gravity
Abstract: We extend the analysis of Chiba, Smith and Erickcek \cite{CSE} of Solar System constraints on $f(R)$ gravity to a class of nonminimally coupled (NMC) theories of gravity. These generalize $f(R)$ theories by replacing the action functional of General Relativity (GR) with a more general form involving two functions $f^1(R)$ and $f^2(R)$ of the Ricci scalar curvature $R$. While the function $f^1(R)$… ▽ More
