In this paper, we propose iterative interference cancellation schemes with access points selection (APs-Sel) for cell-free massive multiple-input multiple-output (CF-mMIMO) systems. Closed-form expressions for centralized and decentralized linear minimum mean square error (LMMSE) receive filters with APs-Sel are derived assuming imperfect channel state information (CSI). Furthermore, we develop a list-based detector based on LMMSE receive filters that exploits interference cancellation and the constellation points. A message-passing-based iterative detection and decoding (IDD) scheme that employs low-density parity-check (LDPC) codes is then developed. Moreover, log-likelihood ratio (LLR) refinement strategies based on censoring and a linear combination of local LLRs are proposed to improve the network performance. We compare the cases with centralized and decentralized processing in terms of bit error rate (BER) performance, complexity, and signaling under perfect CSI (PCSI) and imperfect CSI (ICSI) and verify the superiority of the distributed architecture with LLR refinements.

This letter proposes a semantic-aware resource allocation (SARA) framework with flexible duty cycle (DC) coexistence mechanism (SARADC) for 5G-V2X Heterogeneous Network (HetNets) based on deep reinforcement learning (DRL) proximal policy optimization (PPO). Specifically, we investigate V2X networks within a two-tiered HetNets structure. In response to the needs of high-speed vehicular networking in urban environments, we design a semantic communication system and introduce two resource allocation metrics: high-speed semantic transmission rate (HSR) and semantic spectrum efficiency (HSSE). Our main goal is to maximize HSSE. Additionally, we address the coexistence of vehicular users and WiFi users in 5G New Radio Unlicensed (NR-U) networks. To tackle this complex challenge, we propose a novel approach that jointly optimizes flexible DC coexistence mechanism and the allocation of resources and base stations (BSs). Unlike traditional bit transmission methods, our approach integrates the semantic communication paradigm into the communication system. Experimental results demonstrate that our proposed solution outperforms traditional bit transmission methods with traditional DC coexistence mechanism in terms of HSSE and semantic throughput (ST) for both vehicular and WiFi users.

In particular, we propose three LLR processing schemes based on the individual processing of the LLRs of each AP, LLR censoring, and a linear combination of LLRs by assuming statistical independence. We derive new closed-form expressions for the local soft minimum mean square error (MMSE)-PIC detector and receive matched filter (RMF). We also examine the system performance as the number of iterations increases. Simulations assess the performance of the proposed techniques against existing approaches.

Purpose: Quantitative phase imaging (QPI) is a label-free technique that provides high-contrast images of tissues and cells without the use of chemicals or dyes. Accurate semantic segmentation of cells in QPI is essential for various biomedical applications. While DM-based segmentation has demonstrated promising results, the requirement for multiple sampling steps reduces efficiency. This study aims to enhance DM-based segmentation by introducing prior-guided content information into the starting noise, thereby minimizing inefficiencies associated with multiple sampling. Approach: A prior-guided mechanism is introduced into DM-based segmentation, replacing randomly sampled starting noise with noise informed by content information. This mechanism utilizes another trained DM and DDIM inversion to incorporate content information from the to-be-segmented images into the starting noise. An evaluation method is also proposed to assess the quality of the starting noise, considering both content and distribution information. Results: Extensive experiments on various QPI datasets for cell segmentation showed that the proposed method achieved superior performance in DM-based segmentation with only a single sampling. Ablation studies and visual analysis further highlighted the significance of content priors in DM-based segmentation. Conclusion: The proposed method effectively leverages prior content information to improve DM-based segmentation, providing accurate results while reducing the need for multiple samplings. The findings emphasize the importance of integrating content priors into DM-based segmentation methods for optimal performance.

Among the existing works on enhancing system performance via prescribed performance functions (PPFs), the decay rates of PPFs need to be predetermined by the designer, directly affecting the convergence time of the closed-loop system. However, if only considering accelerating the system convergence by selecting a big decay rate of the performance function, it may lead to the severe consequence of closed-loop system failure when considering the prevalent actuator saturation in practical scenarios. To address this issue, this work proposes a control scheme that can flexibly self-adjust the convergence rates of the performance functions (PFs), aiming to achieve faster steady-state convergence while avoiding the risk of error violation beyond the PFs' envelopes, which may arise from input saturation and improper decay rate selection in traditional prescribed performance control (PPC) methods. Specifically, a performance index function (PIF) is introduced as a reference criterion, based on which the self-adjusting rates of the PFs are designed for different cases, exhibiting the following appealing features: 1) It can eliminate the need to prespecify the initial values of the PFs. In addition, it can also accommodate arbitrary magnitudes of initial errors while avoiding excessive initial control efforts. 2) Considering actuator saturation, this method can not only reduce the decay rates of the PFs when necessary to avoid violation of the PFs, but also increase the decay rates to accelerate system convergence when there is remaining control capacity. Finally, several numerical simulations are conducted to confirm the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed method.

However, accurate portion estimation remains a major challenge due to the loss of 3D information in the 2D representation of foods captured by smartphone cameras or wearable devices. In this paper, we propose a new framework to estimate both food volume and energy from 2D images by leveraging the power of 3D food models and physical reference in the eating scene. Our method estimates the pose of the camera and the food object in the input image and recreates the eating occasion by rendering an image of a 3D model of the food with the estimated poses. We also introduce a new dataset, SimpleFood45, which contains 2D images of 45 food items and associated annotations including food volume, weight, and energy. When the equipment is working, real-time collection of environmental sensor data for anomaly detection is one of the key links to prevent industrial process accidents and network attacks and ensure system security. However, under the environment with specific real-time requirements, the anomaly detection for environmental sensors still faces the following difficulties: (1) The complex nonlinear correlation characteristics between environmental sensor data variables lack effective expression methods, and the distribution between the data is difficult to be captured. (2) it is difficult to ensure the real-time monitoring requirements by using complex machine learning models, and the equipment cost is too high. (3) Too little sample data leads to less labeled data in supervised learning. This paper proposes an unsupervised deep learning anomaly detection system. Based on the generative adversarial network and self-attention mechanism, considering the different feature information contained in the local subsequences, it automatically learns the complex linear and nonlinear dependencies between environmental sensor variables, and uses the anomaly score calculation method combining reconstruction error and discrimination error. It can monitor the abnormal points of real sensor data with high real-time performance and can run on the intelligent satellite Internet of things system, which is suitable for the real working environment. Anomaly detection outperforms baseline methods in most cases and has good interpretability, which can be used to prevent industrial accidents and cyber-attacks for monitoring environmental sensors.

In natural environments, rain has a wide variety of streak types, which increases the difficulty of the rain removal task. In this paper, we propose a Rain Review-based General video derain Network via knowledge distillation (named RRGNet) that handles different rain streak types with one pre-training weight. Specifically, we design a frame grou**-based encoder-decoder network that makes full use of the temporal information of the video. Further, we use the old task model to guide the current model in learning new rain streak types while avoiding forgetting. To consolidate the network's ability to derain, we design a rain review module to play back data from old tasks for the current model. The experimental results show that our developed general method achieves the best results in terms of running speed and derain effect.

Automated semantic segmentation of cell nuclei in microscopic images is crucial for disease diagnosis and tissue microenvironment analysis. Nonetheless, this task presents challenges due to the complexity and heterogeneity of cells. While supervised deep learning methods are promising, they necessitate large annotated datasets that are time-consuming and error-prone to acquire. Semi-supervised approaches could provide feasible alternatives to this issue. However, the limited annotated data may lead to subpar performance of semi-supervised methods, regardless of the abundance of unlabeled data. In this paper, we introduce a novel unsupervised pre-training-based semi-supervised framework for cell-nuclei segmentation. Our framework is comprised of three main components. Firstly, we pretrain a diffusion model on a large-scale unlabeled dataset. The diffusion model's explicit modeling capability facilitates the learning of semantic feature representation from the unlabeled data. Secondly, we achieve semantic feature aggregation using a transformer-based decoder, where the pretrained diffusion model acts as the feature extractor, enabling us to fully utilize the small amount of labeled data. Finally, we implement a collaborative learning framework between the diffusion-based segmentation model and a supervised segmentation model to further enhance segmentation performance. Experiments were conducted on four publicly available datasets to demonstrate significant improvements compared to competitive semi-supervised segmentation methods and supervised baselines. A series of out-of-distribution tests further confirmed the generality of our framework. Furthermore, thorough ablation experiments and visual analysis confirmed the superiority of our proposed method.

Current deep learning methods for low-light image enhancement (LLIE) typically rely on pixel-wise map** learned from paired data. However, these methods often overlook the importance of considering degradation representations, which can lead to sub-optimal outcomes. In this paper, we address this limitation by proposing a degradation-aware learning scheme for LLIE using diffusion models, which effectively integrates degradation and image priors into the diffusion process, resulting in improved image enhancement. Our proposed degradation-aware learning scheme is based on the understanding that degradation representations play a crucial role in accurately modeling and capturing the specific degradation patterns present in low-light images. To this end, First, a joint learning framework for both image generation and image enhancement is presented to learn the degradation representations. Second, to leverage the learned degradation representations, we develop a Low-Light Diffusion model (LLDiffusion) with a well-designed dynamic diffusion module. This module takes into account both the color map and the latent degradation representations to guide the diffusion process. By incorporating these conditioning factors, the proposed LLDiffusion can effectively enhance low-light images, considering both the inherent degradation patterns and the desired color fidelity. Finally, we evaluate our proposed method on several well-known benchmark datasets, including synthetic and real-world unpaired datasets. Extensive experiments on public benchmarks demonstrate that our LLDiffusion outperforms state-of-the-art LLIE methods both quantitatively and qualitatively. Incorporating renewable energy sources (RESs) into manufacturing systems has been an active research area in order to address many challenges originating from the unpredictable nature of RESs such as photovoltaics. In the energy-aware scheduling for manufacturing systems, the traditional off-line scheduling techniques cannot always work well due to their lack of robustness with respect to uncertainties coming from imprecise models or unexpected situations. On the other hand, on-line scheduling or rescheduling, which can improve the robustness by using the model and the latest measurements simultaneously, suffer from a high computational cost. This work proposes a hybrid scheduling framework, which combines the advantages of both off-line scheduling and on-line scheduling, to provide a balanced solution between robustness and computational cost. A novel concept of partially-dispatchable state is introduced. It can be treated as a constant in scheduling when the model works well. When the model does not work well, it is triggered as the variable to tune to improve the performance. Such an event-triggered structure can reduce the number of rescheduling and computational costs while achieving a reasonable performance and enhancing system robustness. Moreover, the choice of partially-dispatchable state also provides an extra design freedom in achieving green manufacturing. Simulation examples on a manufacturing system, of which consists a 100-kW solar photovoltaic system, a 10-machine flow shop production line, a 50-kWh energy storage system, a 100-kW gas turbine, and the grid for power supply, demonstrating the validity and applicability of this event-triggered hybrid scheduling (ETHS) framework.

Low-resolution analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) are promising for reducing energy consumption and costs of multiuser multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems with many antennas. We propose low-resolution multiuser MIMO receivers where the signals are simultaneously processed by 1-bit ADCs and a comparator network, which can be interpreted as additional virtual channels with binary outputs. We distinguish the proposed comparator networks in fully and partially connected. For such receivers, we develop the low-resolution aware linear minimum mean-squared error (LRA-LMMSE) channel estimator and detector according to the Bussgang theorem. We also develop a robust detector which takes into account the channel state information (CSI) mismatch statistics. By exploiting knowledge of the channel coefficients we devise a mean-square error (MSE) greedy search and a sequential signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR) search for optimization of partially connected networks. Numerical results show that a system with extra virtual channels can outperform a system with additional receive antennas, in terms of bit error rate (BER). Furthermore, by employing the proposed channel estimation with its error statistics, we construct a lower bound on the ergodic sum rate for a linear receiver. Simulation results confirm that the proposed approach outperforms the conventional 1-bit MIMO system in terms of BER, MSE and sum rate.

An RIS is assumed to be mounted on each device to enhance the reflected echoes. Meanwhile, the information of each device is passively transferred to the BS via reflection modulation. We aim to tackle the problem of joint localization and information retrieval at the BS. A grid based parametric model is constructed and the joint estimation problem is formulated as a compressive sensing problem. Before reflow soldering of integrated electronic products, the numerical simulation of temperature control curve of reflow furnace is crucial for selecting proper parameters and improving the overall efficiency of reflow soldering process and product quality. According to the heat conduction law and the specific heat capacity formula, the first-order ordinary differential equation of the central temperature curve of the welding area with respect to the temperature distribution function in the furnace on the conveyor belt displacement is obtained. For the gap with small temperature difference, the sigmoid function is used to obtain a smooth interval temperature transition curve; For the gap with large temperature difference, the linear combination of exponential function and primary function is used to approach the actual concave function, so as to obtain the complete temperature distribution function in the furnace. The welding parameters are obtained by solving the ordinary differential equation, and a set of optimal process parameters consistent with the process boundary are obtained by calculating the mean square error between the predicted temperature field and the real temperature distribution. At the same time, a set of reflow optimization strategies are designed for speed interval prediction strategy, minimum parameter interval prediction strategy, and the most symmetrical parameter interval prediction of solder paste melting reflow area. The simulation results show that the temperature field prediction results obtained by this method are highly consistent with the actual sensor data, and have strong correlation. This method can help to select appropriate process parameters, optimize the production process, reduce equipment commissioning practice and optimize the solder joint quality of production products.

Learning to optimize (L2O) has recently emerged as a promising approach to solving optimization problems by exploiting the strong prediction power of neural networks and offering lower runtime complexity than conventional solvers. While L2O has been applied to various problems, a crucial yet challenging class of problems -- robust combinatorial optimization in the form of minimax optimization -- have largely remained under-explored. In addition to the exponentially large decision space, a key challenge for robust combinatorial optimization lies in the inner optimization problem, which is typically non-convex and entangled with outer optimization. In this paper, we study robust combinatorial optimization and propose a novel learning-based optimizer, called LRCO (Learning for Robust Combinatorial Optimization), which quickly outputs a robust solution in the presence of uncertain context. LRCO leverages a pair of learning-based optimizers -- one for the minimizer and the other for the maximizer -- that use their respective objective functions as losses and can be trained without the need of labels for training problem instances. To evaluate the performance of LRCO, we perform simulations for the task offloading problem in vehicular edge computing. Our results highlight that LRCO can greatly reduce the worst-case cost and improve robustness, while having a very low runtime complexity.

Pansharpening in remote sensing image aims at acquiring a high-resolution multispectral (HRMS) image directly by fusing a low-resolution multispectral (LRMS) image with a panchromatic (PAN) image. The main concern is how to effectively combine the rich spectral information of LRMS image with the abundant spatial information of PAN image. Recently, many methods based on deep learning have been proposed for the pansharpening task. However, these methods usually has two main drawbacks: 1) requiring HRMS for supervised learning; and 2) simply ignoring the latent relation between the MS and PAN image and fusing them directly. To solve these problems, we propose a novel unsupervised network based on learnable degradation processes, dubbed as LDP-Net. A reblurring block and a graying block are designed to learn the corresponding degradation processes, respectively. In addition, a novel hybrid loss function is proposed to constrain both spatial and spectral consistency between the pansharpened image and the PAN and LRMS images at different resolutions. Experiments on Worldview2 and Worldview3 images demonstrate that our proposed LDP-Net can fuse PAN and LRMS images effectively without the help of HRMS samples, achieving promising performance in terms of both qualitative visual effects and quantitative metrics.

In this work, we propose a novel normalization-based attention module (NAM), which suppresses less salient weights. It applies a weight sparsity penalty to the attention modules, thus, making them more computational efficient while retaining similar performance. Linear power flow (LPF) models are essential in power system analysis. Various LPF models are proposed, but some crucial questions are still remained: what is the performance bound (e.g., the error bound) of LPF models, how to know a branch is applicable for LPF models or not, and what is the best LPF model. In this paper, these crucial questions are answered and a general formulation (GF) for evaluating the performance of LPF models is proposed. The GF actually figure out two core difficulties, the one is how to define the definition range of the LPF models, and the second is how to analytically obtain the best LPF model and evaluate the performance of a given LPF model. Besides, the key factors that affect the performance of LPF models are also analyzed through the proposed framework. The case studies compare the proposed LPF model with the DC power flow model, the physical-model-driven LPF model, and the data-driven LPF model, and the results show the effectiveness as well as the superiority of the proposed method.

Most existing deep learning-based pan-sharpening methods have several widely recognized issues, such as spectral distortion and insufficient spatial texture enhancement, we propose a novel pan-sharpening convolutional neural network based on a high-pass modification block. Different from existing methods, the proposed block is designed to learn the high-pass information, leading to enhance spatial information in each band of the multi-spectral-resolution images. To facilitate the generation of visually appealing pan-sharpened images, we propose a perceptual loss function and further optimize the model based on high-level features in the near-infrared space. Experiments demonstrate the superior performance of the proposed method compared to the state-of-the-art pan-sharpening methods, both quantitatively and qualitatively. Hyperspectral images (HSIs) have been widely used in a variety of applications thanks to the rich spectral information they are able to provide. Among all HSI processing tasks, HSI denoising is a crucial step. Recently, deep learning-based image denoising methods have made great progress and achieved great performance. However, existing methods tend to ignore the correlations between adjacent spectral bands, leading to problems such as spectral distortion and blurred edges in denoised results. In this study, we propose a novel HSI denoising network, termed SSCAN, that combines group convolutions and attention modules. Specifically, we use a group convolution with a spatial attention module to facilitate feature extraction by directing models' attention to band-wise important features. We propose a spectral-spatial attention block (SSAB) to exploit the spatial and spectral information in hyperspectral images in an effective manner. In addition, we adopt residual learning operations with skip connections to ensure training stability. The experimental results indicate that the proposed SSCAN outperforms several state-of-the-art HSI denoising algorithms.

The highly directional beams applied in millimeter wave (mmWave) cellular networks make it possible to achieve near interference-free (NIF) transmission under judiciously designed space-time user scheduling, where the power of intra-/inter-cell interference between any two users is below a predefined threshold. In this paper, we investigate two aspects of the NIF space-time user scheduling in a multi-cell mmWave network with multi-RF-chain base stations. Firstly, given that each user has a requirement on the number of space-time resource elements, we study the NIF user scheduling problem to minimize the unfulfilled user requirements, so that the space-time resources can be utilized most efficiently and meanwhile all strong interferences are avoided. A near-optimal scheduling algorithm is proposed with performance close to the lower bound of unfulfilled requirements. Furthermore, we study the joint NIF user scheduling and power allocation problem to minimize the power consumption under the constraint of rate requirements. Based on our proposed NIF scheduling, an energy-efficient joint scheduling and power allocation scheme is designed with limited channel state information, which outperforms the existing independent set based schemes, and has near-optimal performance as well.

Recently, satellites with high temporal resolution have fostered wide attention in various practical applications. Due to limitations of bandwidth and hardware cost, however, the spatial resolution of such satellites is considerably low, largely limiting their potentials in scenarios that require spatially explicit information. To improve image resolution, numerous approaches based on training low-high resolution pairs have been proposed to address the super-resolution (SR) task. Despite their success, however, low/high spatial resolution pairs are usually difficult to obtain in satellites with a high temporal resolution, making such approaches in SR impractical to use. In this paper, we proposed a new unsupervised learning framework, called "MIP", which achieves SR tasks without low/high resolution image pairs. First, random noise maps are fed into a designed generative adversarial network (GAN) for reconstruction. Then, the proposed method converts the reference image to latent space as the migration image prior. Finally, we update the input noise via an implicit method, and further transfer the texture and structured information from the reference image. Extensive experimental results on the Draper dataset show that MIP achieves significant improvements over state-of-the-art methods both quantitatively and qualitatively. The proposed MIP is open-sourced at http://github.com/jiaming-wang/MIP.

In this work, we investigate dynamic oversampling techniques for large-scale multiple-antenna systems equipped with low-cost and low-power 1-bit analog-to-digital converters at the base stations. To compensate for the performance loss caused by the coarse quantization, oversampling is applied at the receiver. Unlike existing works that use uniform oversampling, which samples the signal at a constant rate, a novel dynamic oversampling scheme is proposed. The basic idea is to perform time-varying nonuniform oversampling, which selects samples with nonuniform patterns that vary over time. We consider two system design criteria: a design that maximizes the achievable sum rate and another design that minimizes the mean square error of detected symbols. Dynamic oversampling is carried out using a dimension reduction matrix $\mathbfΔ$, which can be computed by the generalized eigenvalue decomposition or by novel submatrix-level feature selection algorithms. Moreover, the proposed scheme is analyzed in terms of convergence, computational complexity and power consumption at the receiver. Simulations show that systems with the proposed dynamic oversampling outperform those with uniform oversampling in terms of computational cost, achievable sum rate and symbol error rate performance.

However, the design of online energy-efficient scheme is still an open problem because of various uncertainties in system dynamics such as processing capacities and transmission rates. Moreover, the decision-making process is constrained by resource limits on fog nodes and IoT devices, making the design even more complicated. In this paper, we formulate such a task offloading problem with unknown system dynamics as a combinatorial multi-armed bandit (CMAB) problem with long-term constraints on time-averaged energy consumptions. Through an effective integration of online learning and online control, we propose a \textit{Learning-Aided Green Offloading} (LAGO) scheme. In LAGO, we employ bandit learning methods to handle the exploitation-exploration tradeoff and utilize virtual queue techniques to deal with the long-term constraints. Our theoretical analysis shows that LAGO can reduce the average task latency with a tunable sublinear regret bound over a finite time horizon and satisfy the long-term time-averaged energy constraints. We conduct extensive simulations to verify such theoretical results.

In Fog-assisted IoT systems, it is a common practice to cache popular content at the network edge to achieve high quality of service. Due to uncertainties in practice such as unknown file popularities, cache placement scheme design is still an open problem with unresolved challenges: 1) how to maintain time-averaged storage costs under budgets, 2) how to incorporate online learning to aid cache placement to minimize performance loss (a.k.a. regret), and 3) how to exploit offline historical information to further reduce regret. In this paper, we formulate the cache placement problem with unknown file popularities as a constrained combinatorial multi-armed bandit (CMAB) problem. To solve the problem, we employ virtual queue techniques to manage time-averaged storage cost constraints, and adopt history-aware bandit learning methods to integrate offline historical information into the online learning procedure to handle the exploration-exploitation tradeoff. With an effective combination of online control and history-aware online learning, we devise a Cache Placement scheme with History-aware Bandit Learning called CPHBL. Our theoretical analysis and simulations show that CPHBL achieves a sublinear time-averaged regret bound. Moreover, the simulation results verify CPHBL's advantage over the deep reinforcement learning based approach.

Large-scale multiple-antenna systems with large bandwidth are fundamental for future wireless communications, where the base station employs a large antenna array. In this scenario, one problem faced is the large energy consumption as the number of receive antennas scales up. Recently, low-resolution analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) have attracted much attention. Specifically, 1-bit ADCs are suitable for such systems due to their low cost and low energy consumption. This paper considers uplink large-scale multiple-antenna systems with 1-bit ADCs on each receive antenna. We investigate the benefits of using oversampling for channel estimation in terms of the mean square error and symbol error rate performance. In particular, low-resolution aware channel estimators are developed based on the Bussgang decomposition for 1-bit oversampled systems and analytical bounds on the mean square error are also investigated. Numerical results are provided to illustrate the performance of the proposed channel estimation algorithms and the derived theoretical bounds.

Over the past few years, detection performance improvements of deep-learning based steganalyzers have been usually achieved through structure expansion. However, excessive expanded structure results in huge computational cost, storage overheads, and consequently difficulty in training and deployment. In this paper we propose CALPA-NET, a ChAnneL-Pruning-Assisted deep residual network architecture search approach to shrink the network structure of existing vast, over-parameterized deep-learning based steganalyzers. We observe that the broad inverted-pyramid structure of existing deep-learning based steganalyzers might contradict the well-established model diversity oriented philosophy, and therefore is not suitable for steganalysis. Then a hybrid criterion combined with two network pruning schemes is introduced to adaptively shrink every involved convolutional layer in a data-driven manner. The resulting network architecture presents a slender bottleneck-like structure. We have conducted extensive experiments on BOSSBase+BOWS2 dataset, more diverse ALASKA dataset and even a large-scale subset extracted from ImageNet CLS-LOC dataset. The experimental results show that the model structure generated by our proposed CALPA-NET can achieve comparative performance with less than two percent of parameters and about one third FLOPs compared to the original steganalytic model. The new model possesses even better adaptivity, transferability, and scalability.

Large-scale multiple-antenna systems have been identified as a promising technology for the next generation of wireless systems. However, by scaling up the number of receive antennas the energy consumption will also increase. One possible solution is to use low-resolution analog-to-digital converters at the receiver. This paper considers large-scale multiple-antenna uplink systems with 1-bit analog-to-digital converters on each receive antenna. Since oversampling can partially compensate for the information loss caused by the coarse quantization, the received signals are firstly oversampled by a factor M. We then propose a low-resolution aware linear minimum mean-squared error channel estimator for 1-bit oversampled systems. Moreover, we characterize analytically the performance of the proposed channel estimator by deriving an upper bound on the Bayesian Cramér-Rao bound. Numerical results are provided to illustrate the performance of the proposed channel estimator.

In this paper, we propose an oversampling based low-resolution aware least squares channel estimator for large-scale multiple-antenna systems with 1-bit analog-to-digital converters on each receive antenna. To mitigate the information loss caused by the coarse quantization, oversampling is applied at the receiver, where the sampling rate is faster than the Nyquist rate. We also characterize analytical performances, in terms of the deterministic Cramér-Rao bounds, on estimating the channel parameters. Based on the correlation of the filtered noise, both the Fisher information for white noise and a lower bound of Fisher information for colored noise are provided. Numerical results are provided to illustrate the mean square error performances of the proposed channel estimator and the corresponding Cramér-Rao bound as a function of the signal-to-noise ratio.
