Immunohistochemistry (IHC) analysis is a well-accepted and widely used method for molecular subty**, a procedure for prognosis and targeted therapy of breast carcinoma, the most common type of tumor affecting women. There are four molecular biomarkers namely progesterone receptor (PR), estrogen receptor (ER), antigen Ki67, and human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) whose assessment is needed under IHC procedure to decide prognosis as well as predictors of response to therapy. However, IHC scoring is based on subjective microscopic examination of tumor morphology and suffers from poor reproducibility, high subjectivity, and often incorrect scoring in low-score cases. In this paper, we present, a deep learning-based semi-supervised trained, fully automatic, decision support system (DSS) for IHC scoring of invasive ductal carcinoma. Our system automatically detects the tumor region removing artifacts and scores based on Allred standard. The system is developed using 3 million pathologist-annotated image patches from 300 slides, fifty thousand in-house cell annotations, and forty thousand pixels marking of HER2 membrane. We have conducted multicentric trials at four centers with three different types of digital scanners in terms of percentage agreement with doctors. And achieved agreements of 95, 92, 88 and 82 percent for Ki67, HER2, ER, and PR stain categories, respectively. In addition to overall accuracy, we found that there is 5 percent of cases where pathologist have changed their score in favor of algorithm score while reviewing with detailed algorithmic analysis. Our approach could improve the accuracy of IHC scoring and subsequent therapy decisions, particularly where specialist expertise is unavailable. Our system is highly modular. The proposed algorithm modules can be used to develop DSS for other cancer types.

This article is devoted to providing a review of mathematical formulations in which Polynomial Chaos Theory (PCT) has been incorporated into stochastic model predictive control (SMPC). In the past decade, PCT has been shown to provide a computationally tractable way to perform complete and accurate uncertainty propagation through (smooth) nonlinear dynamic systems. As such, it represents a very useful computational tool for accelerating the computations needed in SMPC with time invariant uncertainties. It turns out that it can also be used to reduce complexity of chance constraints, which are an important component of SMPC. In this paper, we provide an overview of PCT and discuss how it can be applied in such time invariant settings.

Digital pathology and microscopy image analysis are widely employed in the segmentation of digitally scanned IHC slides, primarily to identify cancer and pinpoint regions of interest (ROI) indicative of tumor presence. However, current ROI segmentation models are either stain-specific or suffer from the issues of stain and scanner variance due to different staining protocols or modalities across multiple labs. Also, tissues like Ductal Carcinoma in Situ (DCIS), acini, etc. are often classified as Tumors due to their structural similarities and color compositions. In this paper, we proposed a novel convolutional neural network (CNN) based Multi-class Tissue Segmentation model for histopathology whole-slide Breast slides which classify tumors and segments other tissue regions such as Ducts, acini, DCIS, Squamous epithelium, Blood Vessels, Necrosis, etc. as a separate class. Our unique pixel-aligned non-linear merge across spatial resolutions empowers models with both local and global fields of view for accurate detection of various classes. Our proposed model is also able to separate bad regions such as folds, artifacts, blurry regions, bubbles, etc. from tissue regions using multi-level context from different resolutions of WSI. Multi-phase iterative training with context-aware augmentation and increasing noise was used to efficiently train a multi-stain generic model with partial and noisy annotations from 513 slides. Our training pipeline used 12 million patches generated using context-aware augmentations which made our model stain and scanner invariant across data sources. To extrapolate stain and scanner invariance, our model was evaluated on 23000 patches which were for a completely new stain (Hematoxylin and Eosin) from a completely new scanner (Motic) from a different lab. The mean IOU was 0.72 which is on par with model performance on other data sources and scanners.

This paper presents a deep learning based model predictive control (MPC) algorithm for systems with unmatched and bounded state-action dependent uncertainties of unknown structure. We utilize a deep neural network (DNN) as an oracle in the underlying optimization problem of learning based MPC (LBMPC) to estimate unmatched uncertainties. Generally, non-parametric oracles such as DNN are considered difficult to employ with LBMPC due to the technical difficulties associated with estimation of their coefficients in real time. We employ a dual-timescale adaptation mechanism, where the weights of the last layer of the neural network are updated in real time while the inner layers are trained on a slower timescale using the training data collected online and selectively stored in a buffer. Our results are validated through a numerical experiment on the compression system model of jet engine. These results indicate that the proposed approach is implementable in real time and carries the theoretical guarantees of LBMPC.

Cross-lingual dubbing of lecture videos requires the transcription of the original audio, correction and removal of disfluencies, domain term discovery, text-to-text translation into the target language, chunking of text using target language rhythm, text-to-speech synthesis followed by isochronous lipsyncing to the original video. This task becomes challenging when the source and target languages belong to different language families, resulting in differences in generated audio duration. This is further compounded by the original speaker's rhythm, especially for extempore speech. This paper describes the challenges in regenerating English lecture videos in Indian languages semi-automatically. A prototype is developed for dubbing lectures into 9 Indian languages. A mean-opinion-score (MOS) is obtained for two languages, Hindi and Tamil, on two different courses. The output video is compared with the original video in terms of MOS (1-5) and lip synchronisation with scores of 4.09 and 3.74, respectively. The human effort also reduces by 75%.

This paper considers the tracking control problem for an unknown nonlinear system with time-varying bounded disturbance subjected to a prescribed performance and input constraints. When performance and input constraints are specified simultaneously for such a problem, a trade-off is inevitable. Consequently, a feasibility condition for prescribing performance and input constraints is devised to address such difficulties of arbitrary prescription. In addition, an approximation-free controller with low complexity is proposed, which ensures that the constraints are never violated, provided that the feasibility condition holds. Finally, simulation results corroborate the effectiveness of the proposed controller.

This paper presents a consolidated grid impact analysis design and corresponding mitigation strategies for heavy-duty electric vehicle (EV) charging stations. The charging load of heavy-duty charging station can reach several megawatts, which could induce adverse impacts on the distribution grid if not effectively mitigated. To analyze the impacts and provide corresponding solutions, we select four representative distribution systems - including both single-feeder cases and a multi-feeder case - and design thorough test metrics for the impact analysis. The charging load profiles used in the analysis are derived from realistic conventional heavy-duty vehicle travel data. Based on the analysis results, charging stations are placed at three different representative locations in each distribution system: best, good, and worst locations. Mitigation strategies using a combination of smart charger functionality, on-site photovoltaic (PV) generation, and on-site energy storage (ES) are proposed and tested. A sizing method is also proposed to find the optimal PV-ES-charger capacity that minimizes the capital cost.

A new model has been developed to estimate the dielectric constant of the lunar surface using Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) data. Continuous investigation on the dielectric constant of the lunar surface is a high priority task due to future lunar mission's goals and possible exploration of human outposts. For this purpose, derived anisotropy and backscattering coefficients of SAR images are used. The SAR images are obtained from Miniature Radio Frequency (MiniRF) radar onboard Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO). These images are available in the form of Stokes parameters, which are used to derive the coherency matrix. The derived coherency matrix is further represented in terms of particle anisotropy. This coherency matrix's elements compared with Cloud's coherency matrix, which results in the new relationship between particle anisotropy and coherency matrix elements (backscattering coefficients). Following this, estimated anisotropy is used to determine the dielectric constant. Our model estimates the dielectric constant of the lunar surface without parallax error. The produce results are also comparable with the earlier estimate. As an advantageous, our method estimates the dielectric constant without any apriori information about the density or composition of lunar surface materials. The proposed approach can also be useful for determining the dielectric properties of Mars and other celestial bodies.

But, images are not the only biometric present: audio is another possible biometric that can be used as an alternative to the existing recognition systems. However, the text-independent audio data is not always available for tasks like speaker verification and also no work has been done in the past for text-independent speaker verification assuming very little training data. Therefore, In this paper, we have proposed a novel method to verify the identity of the claimed speaker using very few training data. To achieve this we are using a Siamese neural network with center loss and speaker bias loss. Experiments conducted on the VoxCeleb1 dataset show that the proposed model accuracy even on training with very few data is near to the state of the art model on text-independent speaker verification

In Virtual, augmented, and mixed reality, the use of hand gestures is increasingly becoming popular to reduce the difference between the virtual and real world. The precise location of the fingertip is essential/crucial for a seamless experience. Much of the research work is based on using depth information for the estimation of the fingertips position. However, most of the work using RGB images for fingertips detection is limited to a single finger. The detection of multiple fingertips from a single RGB image is very challenging due to various factors. In this paper, we propose a deep neural network (DNN) based methodology to estimate the fingertips position. We christened this methodology as an Anchor based Fingertips Position Estimation (ABFPE), and it is a two-step process. The fingertips location is estimated using regression by computing the difference in the location of a fingertip from the nearest anchor point. The proposed framework performs the best with limited dependence on hand detection results. In our experiments on the SCUT-Ego-Gesture dataset, we achieved the fingertips detection error of 2.3552 pixels on a video frame with a resolution of $640 \times 480$ and about $92.98\%$ of test images have average pixel errors of five pixels.

While there is a vast literature on both software and hardware assertions for monitoring functional scenarios, there is limited effort in utilizing assertions to monitor System-on-Chip (SoC) security vulnerabilities. To monitor these vulnerabilities, we define several classes of assertions to enable runtime checking of security vulnerabilities. Our experimental results demonstrate that the security assertions generated by our proposed approach can detect all the inserted vulnerabilities while the functional assertions generated by state-of-the-art assertion generation techniques fail to detect most of them.

Optimal data aggregation aimed at maximizing IoT network lifetime by minimizing constrained on-board resource utilization continues to be a challenging task. The existing data aggregation methods have proven that compressed sensing is promising for data aggregation. However, they compromise either on energy efficiency or recovery fidelity and require complex on-node computations. In this paper, we propose a novel Light Weight Compressed Data Aggregation (LWCDA) algorithm that randomly divides the entire network into non-overlap** clusters for data aggregation. The random non-overlap** clustering offers two important advantages: 1) energy efficiency, as each node has to send its measurement only to its cluster head, 2) highly sparse measurement matrix, which leads to a practically implementable framework with low complexity. We analyze the properties of our measurement matrix using restricted isometry property, the associated coherence and phase transition. Through extensive simulations on practical data, we show that the measurement matrix can reconstruct data with high fidelity. Further, we demonstrate that the LWCDA algorithm reduces transmission cost significantly against baseline approaches, implying thereby the enhancement of the network lifetime.
