In this paper, we propose a method to encrypt linear dynamic controllers that enables an unlimited number of recursive homomorphic multiplications on a Ring Learning With Errors (Ring-LWE) based cryptosystem without bootstrap**. Unlike LWE based schemes, where a scalar error is injected during encryption for security, Ring-LWE based schemes are based on polynomial rings and inject error as a polynomial having multiple error coefficients. Such errors accumulate under recursive homomorphic operations, and it has been studied that their effect can be suppressed by the closed-loop stability when dynamic controllers are encrypted using LWE based schemes. We show that this also holds for the proposed controller encrypted using a Ring-LWE based scheme. Specifically, only the constant terms of the error polynomials affect the control performance, and their effect can be arbitrarily bounded even when the noneffective terms diverge. Furthermore, a novel packing algorithm is applied, resulting in reduced computation time and enhanced memory efficiency. Simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Abstract:
Feature-Imitating-Networks (FINs) are neural networks that are first trained to approximate closed-form statistical features (e.g. Entropy), and then embedded into other networks to enhance their performance. Feature-Imitating-Networks (FINs) are neural networks that are first trained to approximate closed-form statistical features (e.g. Entropy), and then embedded into other networks to enhance their performance. In this work, we perform the first evaluation of FINs for biomedical image processing tasks. We begin by training a set of FINs to imitate six common radiomics features, and then compare the performance of larger networks (with and without embedding the FINs) for three experimental tasks: COVID-19 detection from CT scans, brain tumor classification from MRI scans, and brain-tumor segmentation from MRI scans. We found that models embedded with FINs provided enhanced performance for all three tasks when compared to baseline networks without FINs, even when those baseline networks had more parameters. Additionally, we found that models embedded with FINs converged faster and more consistently compared to baseline networks with similar or greater representational capacity. The results of our experiments provide evidence that FINs may offer state-of-the-art performance for a variety of other biomedical image processing tasks.

We propose an application of sequence generative adversarial networks (SeqGAN), which are generative adversarial networks for discrete sequence generation, for creating polyphonic musical sequences. Instead of a monophonic melody generation suggested in the original work, we present an efficient representation of a polyphony MIDI file that simultaneously captures chords and melodies with dynamic timings. The proposed method condenses duration, octaves, and keys of both melodies and chords into a single word vector representation, and recurrent neural networks learn to predict distributions of sequences from the embedded musical word space. We experiment with the original method and the least squares method to the discriminator, which is known to stabilize the training of GANs. The network can create sequences that are musically coherent and shows an improved quantitative and qualitative measures. We also report that careful optimization of reinforcement learning signals of the model is crucial for general application of the model.
