Perceptive mobile networks implement sensing and communication by reusing existing cellular infrastructure. Cell-free multiple-input multiple-output, thanks to the cooperation among distributed access points, supports the deployment of multistatic radar sensing, while providing high spectral efficiency for data communication services. To this end, the distributed access points communicate over fronthaul links with a central processing unit acting as a cloud processor. This work explores four different types of PMN uplink solutions based on Cell-free multiple-input multiple-output, in which the sensing and decoding functionalities are carried out at either cloud or edge. Accordingly, we investigate and compare joint cloud-based decoding and sensing (CDCS), hybrid cloud-based decoding and edge-based sensing (CDES), hybrid edge-based decoding and cloud-based sensing (EDCS) and edge-based decoding and sensing (EDES). In all cases, we target a unified design problem formulation whereby the fronthaul quantization of signals received in the training and data phases are jointly designed to maximize the achievable rate under sensing requirements and fronthaul capacity constraints. Via numerical results, the four implementation scenarios are compared as a function of the available fronthaul resources by highlighting the relative merits of edge- and cloud-based sensing and communications. This study provides guidelines on the optimal functional allocation in fronthaul-constrained networks implementing integrated sensing and communications.

This paper proposes a long range-frequency hop** spread spectrum (LR-FHSS) transceiver design for the Direct-to-Satellite Internet of Things (DtS-IoT) communication system. The DtS-IoT system has recently attracted attention as a promising nonterrestrial network (NTN) solution to provide high-traffic and low-latency data transfer services to IoT devices in global coverage. In particular, this study provides guidelines for the overall DtS-IoT system architecture and design details that conform to the Long Range Wide-Area Network (LoRaWAN). Furthermore, we also detail various DtS-IoT use cases. Considering the multiple low-Earth orbit (LEO) satellites, we developed the LR-FHSS transceiver to improve system efficiency, which is the first attempt in real satellite communication systems using LR-FHSS. Moreover, as an extension of our previous work with perfect synchronization, we applied a robust synchronization scheme against the Doppler effect and co-channel interference (CCI) caused by LEO satellite channel environments, including signal detection for the simultaneous reception of numerous frequency hop** signals and an enhanced soft-output-Viterbi-algorithm (SOVA) for the header and payload receptions. Lastly, we present proof-of-concept implementation and testbeds using an application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC) chipset and a field-programmable gate array (FPGA) that verify the performance of the proposed LR-FHSS transceiver design of DtS-IoT communication systems. The laboratory test results reveal that the proposed LR-FHSS-based framework with the robust synchronization technique can provide wide coverage, seamless connectivity, and high throughput communication links for the realization of future sixth-generation (6G) networks.

Cognitive load classification is the task of automatically determining an individual's utilization of working memory resources during performance of a task based on physiologic measures such as electroencephalography (EEG). In this paper, we follow a cross-disciplinary approach, where tools and methodologies from speech processing are used to tackle this problem. The corpus we use was released publicly in 2021 as part of the first passive brain-computer interface competition on cross-session workload estimation. We present our approach which used i-vector-based neural network classifiers to accomplish inter-subject cross-session EEG transfer learning, achieving 18% relative improvement over equivalent subject-dependent models. We also report experiments showing how our subject-independent models perform competitively on held-out subjects and improve with additional subject data, suggesting that subject-dependent training is not required for effective cognitive load determination.

In this correspondence, we propose hierarchical high-altitude platform (HAP)-low-altitude platform (LAP) networks with the aim of maximizing the sum-rate of ground user equipments (UEs). The multiple aerial radio units (RUs) mounted on HAPs and LAPs are managed by the central unit (CU) via constrained fronthaul links. The limitation of fronthaul capacity can be addressed through quantization, employing the cloud radio access network (C-RAN) architecture. For spectral efficiency, we adopt the rate-splitting multiple access (RSMA), leveraging the advantages of both space-division multiple access (SDMA) and non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA). To achieve this, we jointly optimize rate splitting, transmit power allocation, quantization noise variance, and UAV placement using an alternating optimization (AO) approach coupled with successive convex approximation (SCA) and the weighted minimum mean square error (WMMSE) method. Numerical results validate the superior performance of the proposed method compared to benchmark schemes, including partial optimizations or those without the assistance of LAPs.

Storytelling is multi-modal in the real world. When one tells a story, one may use all of the visualizations and sounds along with the story itself. However, prior studies on storytelling datasets and tasks have paid little attention to sound even though sound also conveys meaningful semantics of the story. Therefore, we propose to extend story understanding and telling areas by establishing a new component called "background sound" which is story context-based audio without any linguistic information. For this purpose, we introduce a new dataset, called "Sound of Story (SoS)", which has paired image and text sequences with corresponding sound or background music for a story. To the best of our knowledge, this is the largest well-curated dataset for storytelling with sound. Our SoS dataset consists of 27,354 stories with 19.6 images per story and 984 hours of speech-decoupled audio such as background music and other sounds. As benchmark tasks for storytelling with sound and the dataset, we propose retrieval tasks between modalities, and audio generation tasks from image-text sequences, introducing strong baselines for them. We believe the proposed dataset and tasks may shed light on the multi-modal understanding of storytelling in terms of sound. Downloading the dataset and baseline codes for each task will be released in the link: https://github.com/Sosdatasets/SoS_Dataset.

Harmonization in those features ensures consistent feature extraction across various imaging devices and protocols. Methods for harmonization include standardized imaging protocols, statistical adjustments, and evaluating feature robustness. Myocardial diseases such as Left Ventricular Hypertrophy (LVH) and Hypertensive Heart Disease (HHD) are diagnosed via echocardiography, but variable imaging settings pose challenges. Harmonization techniques are crucial for applying handcrafted features in disease diagnosis in such scenario. This paper investigates a secure offloading system, where the UAV-mounted IRS assists the offloading procedures between ground users and an access point (AP) acting as an edge cloud. In this system, the users except the intended recipients in the offloading process are considered as potential eavesdroppers. The system aims to achieve the minimum total energy consumption of battery-limited ground user devices under constraints for secure offloading accomplishment and operability of UAV-mounted IRS, which is done by optimizing the transmit power of ground user devices, the trajectory and phase shift matrix of UAV-mounted IRS, and the offloading ratio between local execution and edge computing based on the successive convex approximation (SCA) algorithms. Numerical results show that the proposed algorithm can provide the considerable energy savings compared with local execution and partial optimizations.

Extended reality-enabled Internet of Things (XRI) provides the new user experience and the sense of immersion by adding virtual elements to the real world through Internet of Things (IoT) devices and emerging 6G technologies. However, the computational-intensive XRI tasks are challenging for the energy-constrained small-size XRI devices to cope with, and moreover certain data requires centralized computing that needs to be shared among users. To this end, we propose a cache-assisted space-air-ground integrated network mobile edge computing (SAGIN-MEC) system for XRI applications, consisting of two types of edge servers mounted on an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) and low Earth orbit (LEO) equipped with cache and the multiple ground XRI devices. For system efficiency, the four different offloading procedures of the XRI data are considered according to the type of information, i.e., shared data and private data, as well as the offloading decision and the caching status. Specifically, the private data can be offloaded to either UAV or LEO, while the offloading decision of the shared data to the LEO can be determined by the caching status. With the aim of maximizing the energy efficiency of the overall system, we jointly optimize UAV trajectory, resource allocation and offloading decisions under latency constraints and UAV's operational limitations by using the alternating optimization (AO)-based method along with Dinkelbach algorithm and successive convex optimization (SCA). Via numerical results, the proposed algorithm is verified to have the superior performance compared to conventional partial optimizations or without cache.

With the advancement of transportation vehicles, the importance and utility of navigation systems providing positioning, navigation, and timing (PNT) information have been increasing. Global navigation satellite systems (GNSS) are widely used navigation systems, but they are vulnerable to radio frequency interference (RFI), resulting in disruptions of satellite navigation signals. Recognizing this limitation, extensive research is being conducted on alternative navigation systems. In the maritime industry, ongoing research focuses on a groundbased integrated navigation system called R-Mode. R-Mode utilizes medium frequency (MF) differential GNSS (DGNSS) and very high-frequency data exchange system (VDES) signals as ranging signals for positioning and incorporates the existing ground-based navigation system known as enhanced long-range navigation (eLoran). However, MF R-Mode, which uses MF DGNSS signals for positioning, exhibits significant performance differences between daytime and nighttime due to skywave interference caused by signals reflecting off the ionosphere. In this study, we propose a skywave ground truth generation algorithm that is crucial for studying mitigation methods for MF R-Mode skywave interference. Furthermore, we demonstrate the proposed algorithm using field-test data.

The proliferation of deep learning-based machine vision applications has given rise to a new type of compression, so called video coding for machine (VCM). VCM differs from traditional video coding in that it is optimized for machine vision performance instead of human visual quality. In the feature compression track of MPEG-VCM, multi-scale features extracted from images are subject to compression. Recent feature compression works have demonstrated that the versatile video coding (VVC) standard-based approach can achieve a BD-rate reduction of up to 96% against MPEG-VCM feature anchor. However, it is still sub-optimal as VVC was not designed for extracted features but for natural images. Moreover, the high encoding complexity of VVC makes it difficult to design a lightweight encoder without sacrificing performance. To address these challenges, we propose a novel multi-scale feature compression method that enables both the end-to-end optimization on the extracted features and the design of lightweight encoders. The proposed model combines a learnable compressor with a multi-scale feature fusion network so that the redundancy in the multi-scale features is effectively removed. Instead of simply cascading the fusion network and the compression network, we integrate the fusion and encoding processes in an interleaved way. Our model first encodes a larger-scale feature to obtain a latent representation and then fuses the latent with a smaller-scale feature. This process is successively performed until the smallest-scale feature is fused and then the encoded latent at the final stage is entropy-coded for transmission. The results show that our model outperforms previous approaches by at least 52% BD-rate reduction and has $\times5$ to $\times27$ times less encoding time for object detection...

Continuously acquired non-Cartesian multi-echo/multi-coil k-space data with free breathing are sorted/binned into the motion states from end-expiratory to end-inspiratory phases based on a respiratory motion signal. Temporal total variation applied to the motion state dimension of each echo is then coupled in the $\ell_2$ sense for joint reconstruction of the multiple echoes. Reconstructed source images of the proposed method are compared with conventional echo-by-echo motion-resolved reconstruction, and R2* of the proposed and echo-by-echo methods are compared with respect to a clinical reference. Controller Area Network (CAN) is an essential networking protocol that connects multiple electronic control units (ECUs) in a vehicle. However, CAN-based in-vehicle networks (IVNs) face security risks owing to the CAN mechanisms. An adversary can sabotage a vehicle by leveraging the security risks if they can access the CAN bus. Thus, recent actions and cybersecurity regulations (e.g., UNR 155) require carmakers to implement intrusion detection systems (IDSs) in their vehicles. The IDS should detect cyberattacks and provide additional information to analyze conducted attacks. Although many IDSs have been proposed, considerations regarding their feasibility and explainability remain lacking. This study proposes X-CANIDS, which is a novel IDS for CAN-based IVNs. X-CANIDS dissects the payloads in CAN messages into human-understandable signals using a CAN database. The signals improve the intrusion detection performance compared with the use of bit representations of raw payloads. These signals also enable an understanding of which signal or ECU is under attack. X-CANIDS can detect zero-day attacks because it does not require any labeled dataset in the training phase. We confirmed the feasibility of the proposed method through a benchmark test on an automotive-grade embedded device with a GPU. The results of this work will be valuable to carmakers and researchers considering the installation of in-vehicle IDSs for their vehicles.

Marine Internet of Things (IoT) systems have grown substantially with the development of non-terrestrial networks (NTN) via aerial and space vehicles in the upcoming sixth-generation (6G), thereby assisting environment protection, military reconnaissance, and sea transportation. Due to unpredictable climate changes and the extreme channel conditions of maritime networks, however, it is challenging to efficiently and reliably collect and compute a huge amount of maritime data. In this paper, we propose a hybrid low-Earth orbit (LEO) and unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) edge computing method in space-air-sea integrated networks for marine IoT systems. Specifically, two types of edge servers mounted on UAVs and LEO satellites are endowed with computational capabilities for the real-time utilization of a sizable data collected from ocean IoT sensors. Our system aims at minimizing the total energy consumption of the battery-constrained UAV by jointly optimizing the bit allocation of communication and computation along with the UAV path planning under latency, energy budget and operational constraints. For availability and practicality, the proposed methods were developed for three different cases according to the accessibility of the LEO satellite, ``Always On," ``Always Off" and ``Intermediate Disconnected", by leveraging successive convex approximation (SCA) strategies. Via numerical results, we verify that significant energy savings can be accrued for all cases of LEO accessibility by means of joint optimization of bit allocation and UAV path planning compared to partial optimization schemes that design for only the bit allocation or trajectory of the UAV.

However, most of them are often trained as separate models for different target bit rates, thus increasing the model complexity. Therefore, several studies have been conducted for learned compression that supports variable rates with single models, but they require additional network modules, layers, or inputs that often lead to complexity overhead, or do not provide sufficient coding efficiency. In this paper, we firstly propose a selective compression method that partially encodes the latent representations in a fully generalized manner for deep learning-based variable-rate image compression. The proposed method adaptively determines essential representation elements for compression of different target quality levels. For this, we first generate a 3D importance map as the nature of input content to represent the underlying importance of the representation elements. The 3D importance map is then adjusted for different target quality levels using importance adjustment curves. The adjusted 3D importance map is finally converted into a 3D binary mask to determine the essential representation elements for compression. The proposed method can be easily integrated with the existing compression models with a negligible amount of overhead increase. Our method can also enable continuously variable-rate compression via simple interpolation of the importance adjustment curves among different quality levels. The extensive experimental results show that the proposed method can achieve comparable compression efficiency as those of the separately trained reference compression models and can reduce decoding time owing to the selective compression. The sample codes are publicly available at https://github.com/JooyoungLeeETRI/SCR.

Accurate positioning, navigation, and timing (PNT) performance are prerequisites for several technologies today. In a marine environment, it is difficult to visually identify one's position accurately, leading to safety concerns. Currently, PNT information is provided mainly from Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS); however, it is vulnerable to radio frequency interference, spoofing, and ionospheric anomaly. Therefore, research on a backup system is needed. Ranging Mode (R-Mode), a terrestrial integrated navigation system, is being investigated for use in a marine environment. R-Mode is a positioning technology that integrates terrestrial signals of opportunity such as medium frequency (MF) differential GNSS (DGNSS), very high frequency (VHF) automatic identification system (AIS), and enhanced long-range navigation (eLoran) signals. Previous studies in Europe show that signals in the MF band differ greatly in accuracy between daytime and nighttime. This difference is primarily caused by skywave. In this study, the MF DGNSS R-Mode signal transmitted from Chungju, Korea was received in Daesan and Daejeon, Korea. The skywave effect during daytime and nighttime was compared and investigated. In addition, the continuous wave intensity of the R-Mode signal was increased during the nighttime to compare its effect on the measurement accuracy.

In this correspondence, we propose a hybrid UAV-aided secure offloading system in which a UAV serves as a helper by switching the mode between jamming and relaying to maximize the secrecy sum-rate of UEs. This work aims to optimize (i) the trajectory of the helper UAV, (ii) the mode selection strategy and (iii) the UEs' offloading decisions under the constraints of offloading accomplishment and the UAV's operational limitations. The solution is provided via a deep deterministic policy gradient (DDPG)-based method, whose superior performance is verified via a numerical simulation and compared to those of traditional approaches.

This letter proposes traffic management for multiple automated mobile robots (AMRs) based on a layered cost map. Multiple AMRs communicate via a data distribution service (DDS), which is shared by topics in the same DDS domain. The cost of each layer is manipulated by topics. The traffic management server in the domain sends or receives topics to each of AMRs. Using the layered cost map, the new concept of prohibition filter, lane filter, fleet layer, and region filter are proposed and implemented. The prohibition filter can help a user set an area that would prohibit an AMR from trespassing. The lane filter can help set one-way directions based on an angle image. The fleet layer can help AMRs share their locations via the traffic management server. The region filter requests for or receives an exclusive area, which can be occupied by only one AMR, from the traffic management server. All the layers are experimentally validated with real-world AMRs. Each area can be configured with user-defined images or text-based parameter files.

Target localization is essential for emergency dispatching situations. Maximum likelihood estimation (MLE) methods are widely used to estimate the target position based on the received signal strength measurements. However, the performance of MLE solvers is significantly affected by the initialization (i.e., initial guess of the solution or solution search space). To address this, a previous study proposed the semidefinite programming (SDP)-based MLE initialization. However, the performance of the SDP-based initialization technique is largely affected by the shadowing variance and geometric diversity between the target and receivers. In this study, a radio frequency (RF) fingerprinting-based MLE initialization is proposed. Further, a maximum likelihood problem for target localization combining RF fingerprinting is formulated. In the three test environments of open space, urban, and indoor, the proposed RF fingerprinting-aided target localization method showed a performance improvement of up to 63.31% and an average of 39.13%, compared to the MLE algorithm initialized with SDP. Furthermore, unlike the SDP-MLE method, the proposed method was not significantly affected by the poor geometry between the target and receivers in our experiments.

Accurate channel estimation is essential to achieve the performance gains promised by the use of reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RISs) in wireless communications. In the uplink of multi-user orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) systems, synchronization errors such as carrier frequency offsets (CFOs) can significantly degrade the channel estimation performance. This becomes more critical in RIS-aided communications, as even a small channel estimation error leads to a significant performance loss. Motivated by this, we propose a joint CFO and channel estimation method for RIS-aided multi-user massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems. Our proposed pilot structure allows accurate estimation of the CFOs without multi-user interference (MUI), using the same pilot resources for both CFO estimation and channel estimation. For joint estimation of multiple users' CFOs, a correlation-based approach is devised using the received signals at all BS antennas. Using least-squares (LS) estimation with the obtained CFO values, the channels of all users are jointly estimated. For optimization of the RIS phase shifts at the data transmission stage, we propose a projected gradient method (PGM). Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed method provides an improvement in the normalized mean-square error (NMSE) of channel estimation as well as in the bit error rate (BER) performance.

Therefore, various navigation studies have been actively conducted to back up global positioning system (GPS) in scenarios in which it is disabled. Ranging using signals of opportunity (SoOP) has the advantage of infrastructure already being in place. Mobile cloud and edge computing protocols make it possible to offer computationally heavy applications to mobile devices via computational offloading from devices to nearby edge servers or more powerful, but remote, cloud servers. Previous work assumed that computational tasks can be fractionally offloaded at both cloud processor (CP) and at a local edge node (EN) within a conventional Distributed Radio Access Network (D-RAN) that relies on non-cooperative ENs equipped with one-way uplink fronthaul connection to the cloud. In this paper, we propose to integrate collaborative fractional computing across CP and ENs within a Cloud RAN (C-RAN) architecture with finite-capacity two-way fronthaul links. Accordingly, tasks offloaded by a mobile device can be partially carried out at an EN and the CP, with multiple ENs communicating with a common CP to exchange data and computational outcomes while allowing for centralized precoding and decoding. Unlike prior work, we investigate joint optimization of computing and communication resources, including wireless and fronthaul segments, to minimize the end-to-end latency by accounting for a two-way uplink and downlink transmission. The problem is tackled by using fractional programming (FP) and matrix FP. Extensive numerical results validate the performance gain of the proposed architecture as compared to the previously studied D-RAN solution.

Connected and autonomous vehicles (CAVs) are an innovative form of traditional vehicles. Automotive Ethernet replaces the controller area network and FlexRay to support the large throughput required by high-definition applications. As CAVs have numerous functions, they exhibit a large attack surface and an increased vulnerability to attacks. However, no previous studies have focused on intrusion detection in automotive Ethernet-based networks. In this paper, we present an intrusion detection method for detecting audio-video transport protocol (AVTP) stream injection attacks in automotive Ethernet-based networks. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first such method developed for automotive Ethernet. The proposed intrusion detection model is based on feature generation and a convolutional neural network (CNN). To evaluate our intrusion detection system, we built a physical BroadR-Reach-based testbed and captured real AVTP packets. The experimental results show that the model exhibits outstanding performance: the F1-score and recall are greater than 0.9704 and 0.9949, respectively. In terms of the inference time per input and the generation intervals of AVTP traffic, our CNN model can readily be employed for real-time detection.

Video dimensions are continuously increasing to provide more realistic and immersive experiences to global streaming and social media viewers. However, increments in video parameters such as spatial resolution and frame rate are inevitably associated with larger data volumes. Transmitting increasingly voluminous videos through limited bandwidth networks in a perceptually optimal way is a current challenge affecting billions of viewers. One recent practice adopted by video service providers is space-time resolution adaptation in conjunction with video compression. Consequently, it is important to understand how different levels of space-time subsampling and compression affect the perceptual quality of videos. Towards making progress in this direction, we constructed a large new resource, called the ETRI-LIVE Space-Time Subsampled Video Quality (ETRI-LIVE STSVQ) database, containing 437 videos generated by applying various levels of combined space-time subsampling and video compression on 15 diverse video contents. We also conducted a large-scale human study on the new dataset, collecting about 15,000 subjective judgments of video quality. We provide a rate-distortion analysis of the collected subjective scores, enabling us to investigate the perceptual impact of space-time subsampling at different bit rates. We also evaluated and compared the performance of leading video quality models on the new database.

Accurate channel estimation is essential for achieving the performance gains offered by reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS)-aided wireless communications. A variety of channel estimation methods have been proposed for such systems; however, none of the existing methods takes into account the effect of synchronization errors such as carrier frequency offset (CFO). In general, CFO can significantly degrade channel estimation performance of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems. Motivated by this, we investigate the effect of CFO on channel estimation for RIS-aided OFDM systems. Furthermore, we propose a joint CFO and channel impulse response (CIR) estimation method for these systems. Simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed method, and also demonstrate that the use of time-domain rather than frequency-domain estimation in this context results in an improvement in the mean-squared error (MSE) performance of channel estimation as well as a significantly lower overall computational complexity.

As a result of significant advances in deep learning, computer vision technology has been widely adopted in the field of traffic surveillance. Nonetheless, it is difficult to find a universal model that can measure traffic parameters irrespective of ambient conditions such as times of the day, weather, or shadows. These conditions vary recurrently, but the exact points of change are inconsistent and unpredictable. Thus, the application of a multi-regime method would be problematic, even when separate sets of model parameters are prepared in advance. In the present study we devised a robust approach that facilitates multi-regime analysis. This approach employs an online parametric algorithm to determine the change-points for ambient conditions. An autoencoder was used to reduce the dimensions of input images, and reduced feature vectors were used to implement the online change-point algorithm. Seven separate periods were tagged with typical times in a given day. Multi-regime analysis was then performed so that the traffic density could be separately measured for each period. To train and test models for vehicle counting, 1,100 video images were randomly chosen for each period and labeled with traffic counts. The measurement accuracy of multi-regime analysis was much higher than that of an integrated model trained on all data.

With the increasing demand for location-based services, localization technology research has recently intensified. Received signal strength (RSS)-based localization has the advantage of simplicity. However, as RSS-based localization requires the path-loss model parameters, it is difficult to use in place on which those parameters are unknown. In prior research, a transmitter localization algorithm with multiple stationary receivers was proposed for use under unknown path-loss exponent (PLE) conditions. However, if a mobile receiver is utilized, the localization would be possible with a single receiver alone. In this paper, we suggest a method of RSS-based LTE base station (BS) localization with a single mobile receiver when the PLE is unknown. We also propose an efficient mobile-receiver movement method to improve the PLE estimation and BS localization accuracy. Simulation results demonstrate the performance of the proposed methods.

Recent advances in deep learning have had a methodological and practical impact on brain-computer interface research. Among the various deep network architectures, convolutional neural networks have been well suited for spatio-spectral-temporal electroencephalogram signal representation learning. Most of the existing CNN-based methods described in the literature extract features at a sequential level of abstraction with repetitive nonlinear operations and involve densely connected layers for classification. However, studies in neurophysiology have revealed that EEG signals carry information in different ranges of frequency components. To better reflect these multi-frequency properties in EEGs, we propose a novel deep multi-scale neural network that discovers feature representations in multiple frequency/time ranges and extracts relationships among electrodes, i.e., spatial representations, for subject intention/condition identification. Furthermore, by completely representing EEG signals with spatio-spectral-temporal information, the proposed method can be utilized for diverse paradigms in both active and passive BCIs, contrary to existing methods that are primarily focused on single-paradigm BCIs. To demonstrate the validity of our proposed method, we conducted experiments on various paradigms of active/passive BCI datasets. Our experimental results demonstrated that the proposed method achieved performance improvements when judged against comparable state-of-the-art methods. Additionally, we analyzed the proposed method using different techniques, such as PSD curves and relevance score inspection to validate the multi-scale EEG signal information capturing ability, activation pattern maps for investigating the learned spatial filters, and t-SNE plotting for visualizing represented features. Finally, we also demonstrated our method's application to real-world problems.

With the rapid development of vehicular networks, various applications that require high computation resources have emerged. To efficiently execute these applications, vehicular edge computing (VEC) can be employed. VEC offloads the computation tasks to the VEC node, i.e., the road side unit (RSU), which improves vehicular service and reduces energy consumption of the vehicle. However, communication environment is time-varying due to the movement of the vehicle, so that finding the optimal offloading parameters is still an open problem. Therefore, it is necessary to investigate an optimal offloading strategy for effective energy savings in energy-limited vehicles. In this paper, we consider the changes of communication environment due to various speeds of vehicles, which are not considered in previous studies. Then, we jointly optimize the offloading proportion and uplink/computation/downlink bit allocation of multiple vehicles, for the purpose of minimizing the total energy consumption of the vehicles under the delay constraint. Numerical results demonstrate that the proposed energy-efficient offloading strategy significantly reduces the total energy consumption.
