Recent advances in sensing technologies, wireless communications, and computing paradigms drive the evolution of vehicles in becoming an intelligent and electronic consumer products. This paper investigates enabling digital twins in vehicular edge computing (DT-VEC) via cooperative sensing and uploading, and makes the first attempt to achieve the quality-cost tradeoff in DT-VEC. First, a DT-VEC architecture is presented, where the heterogeneous information can be sensed by vehicles and uploaded to the edge node via vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) communications. The digital twins are modeled based on the sensed information, which are utilized to from the logical view to reflect the real-time status of the physical vehicular environment. Second, we derive the cooperative sensing model and the V2I uploading model by considering the timeliness and consistency of digital twins, and the redundancy, sensing cost, and transmission cost. On this basis, a bi-objective problem is formulated to maximize the system quality and minimize the system cost. Third, we propose a solution based on multi-agent multi-objective (MAMO) deep reinforcement learning, where a dueling critic network is proposed to evaluate the agent action based on the value of state and the advantage of action. Finally, we give a comprehensive performance evaluation, demonstrating the superiority of MAMO.

Cooperative sensing and heterogeneous information fusion are critical to realize vehicular cyber-physical systems (VCPSs). This paper makes the first attempt to quantitatively measure the quality of VCPS by designing a new metric called Age of View (AoV). Specifically, we first present the system architecture where heterogeneous information can be cooperatively sensed and uploaded via vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) communications in vehicular edge computing (VEC). Logical views are constructed by fusing the heterogeneous information at edge nodes. Further, we formulate the problem by deriving a cooperative sensing model based on the multi-class M/G/1 priority queue, and defining the AoV by modeling the timeliness, completeness and consistency of the logical views. On this basis, a multi-agent deep reinforcement learning solution is proposed. In particular, the system state includes vehicle sensed information, edge cached information and view requirements. The vehicle action space consists of the sensing frequencies and uploading priorities of information. A difference-reward-based credit assignment is designed to divide the system reward, which is defined as the VCPS quality, into the difference reward for vehicles. Edge node allocates V2I bandwidth to vehicles based on predicted vehicle trajectories and view requirements. Finally, we build the simulation model and give a comprehensive performance evaluation, which conclusively demonstrates the superiority of the proposed solution.

Most of the state-of-the-art semantic segmentation reported in recent years is based on fully supervised deep learning in the medical domain. How?ever, the high-quality annotated datasets require intense labor and domain knowledge, consuming enormous time and cost. Previous works that adopt semi?supervised and unsupervised learning are proposed to address the lack of anno?tated data through assisted training with unlabeled data and achieve good perfor?mance. Still, these methods can not directly get the image annotation as doctors do. In this paper, inspired by self-training of semi-supervised learning, we pro?pose a novel approach to solve the lack of annotated data from another angle, called medical image pixel rearrangement (short in MIPR). The MIPR combines image-editing and pseudo-label technology to obtain labeled data. As the number of iterations increases, the edited image is similar to the original image, and the labeled result is similar to the doctor annotation. Therefore, the MIPR is to get labeled pairs of data directly from amounts of unlabled data with pixel rearrange?ment, which is implemented with a designed conditional Generative Adversarial Networks and a segmentation network. Experiments on the ISIC18 show that the effect of the data annotated by our method for segmentation task is is equal to or even better than that of doctors annotations

Moreover, annotating large datasets for semantic segmentation of medical lesions is domain-knowledge and time-consuming. In this paper, we propose a new object-blend method(short in soft-CP) that combines the Copy-Paste augmentation method for semantic segmentation of medical lesions offline, ensuring the correct edge information around the lession to solve the issue above-mentioned. We proved the method's validity with several datasets in different imaging modalities. In our experiments on the KiTS19[2] dataset, Soft-CP outperforms existing medical lesions synthesis approaches. The Soft-CP augementation provides gains of +26.5% DSC in the low data regime(10% of data) and +10.2% DSC in the high data regime(all of data), In offline training data, the ratio of real images to synthetic images is 3:1.

This paper studies the trajectory control and task offloading (TCTO) problem in an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV)-assisted mobile edge computing system, where a UAV flies along a planned trajectory to collect computation tasks from smart devices (SDs). We consider a scenario that SDs are not directly connected by the base station (BS) and the UAV has two roles to play: MEC server or wireless relay. The UAV makes task offloading decisions online, in which the collected tasks can be executed locally on the UAV or offloaded to the BS for remote processing. The TCTO problem involves multi-objective optimization as its objectives are to minimize the task delay and the UAV's energy consumption, and maximize the number of tasks collected by the UAV, simultaneously. This problem is challenging because the three objectives conflict with each other. The existing reinforcement learning (RL) algorithms, either single-objective RLs or single-policy multi-objective RLs, cannot well address the problem since they cannot output multiple policies for various preferences (i.e. weights) across objectives in a single run. This paper adapts the evolutionary multi-objective RL (EMORL), a multi-policy multi-objective RL, to the TCTO problem. This algorithm can output multiple optimal policies in just one run, each optimizing a certain preference. The simulation results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm can obtain more excellent nondominated policies by striking a balance between the three objectives regarding policy quality, compared with two evolutionary and two multi-policy RL algorithms.

The Multi-voltage Threshold (MVT) method, which samples the signal by certain reference voltages, has been well developed as being adopted in pre-clinical and clinical digital positron emission tomography(PET) system. To improve its energy measurement performance, we propose a Peak Picking MVT(PP-MVT) Digitizer in this paper. Firstly, a sampled Peak Point(the highest point in pulse signal), which carries the values of amplitude feature voltage and amplitude arriving time, is added to traditional MVT with a simple peak sampling circuit. Secondly, an amplitude deviation statistical analysis, which compares the energy deviation of various reconstruction models, is used to select adaptive reconstruction models for signal pulses with different amplitudes. After processing 30,000 randomly-chosen pulses sampled by the oscilloscope with a 22Na point source, our method achieves an energy resolution of 17.50% within a 450-650 KeV energy window, which is 2.44% better than the result of traditional MVT with same thresholds; and we get a count number at 15225 in the same energy window while the result of MVT is at 14678. When the PP-MVT involves less thresholds than traditional MVT, the advantages of better energy resolution and larger count number can still be maintained, which shows the robustness and the flexibility of PP-MVT Digitizer. This improved method indicates that adding feature peak information could improve the performance on signal sampling and reconstruction, which canbe proved by the better performance in energy determination in radiation measurement.

A comprehensive investigation of the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of the microwave photonic filter (MPF) with an interferometric structure based on an incoherent broadband optical source (IBOS) is presented from the time and frequency domains, respectively. The interferometric structure and the IBOS in the MPF result in a beneficial single-bandpass radiofrequency (RF) response. However, the IBOS adds a relatively large noise to the filtered RF signal. Therefore, the analysis of the SNR is of great importance for the design of this kind of MPFs. Theoretical analysis shows that the SNR is a function of the center frequency of the passband, the modulation index, the chromatic dispersion, and the shape of the IBOS. An experiment is performed to verify the theory, and experimental results agree well with the theoretical calculation.

Dynamic routing in software-defined networking (SDN) can be viewed as a centralized decision-making problem. Most of the existing deep reinforcement learning (DRL) agents can address it, thanks to the deep neural network (DNN)incorporated. However, fully-connected feed-forward neural network (FFNN) is usually adopted, where spatial correlation and temporal variation of traffic flows are ignored. This drawback usually leads to significantly high computational complexity due to large number of training parameters. To overcome this problem, we propose a novel model-free framework for dynamic routing in SDN, which is referred to as spatio-temporal deterministic policy gradient (STDPG) agent. Both the actor and critic networks are based on identical DNN structure, where a combination of convolutional neural network (CNN) and long short-term memory network (LSTM) with temporal attention mechanism, CNN-LSTM-TAM, is devised. By efficiently exploiting spatial and temporal features, CNNLSTM-TAM helps the STDPG agent learn better from the experience transitions. Furthermore, we employ the prioritized experience replay (PER) method to accelerate the convergence of model training. The experimental results show that STDPG can automatically adapt for current network environment and achieve robust convergence. Compared with a number state-ofthe-art DRL agents, STDPG achieves better routing solutions in terms of the average end-to-end delay.

Hybrid free space optical (FSO)/radio frequency (RF) systems have been proved to be reliable links for high-data-rate wireless backhauls. In this paper, we present a unified performance analysis of the hybrid FSO/RF transmission system which transmits the identical data in both links and implements two popular diversity combining schemes, namely, selection combining (SC) and maximal ratio combining (MRC), in the receiver. Specially, for the FSO link, the Gamma-Gamma turbulence with pointing errors under heterodyne detection (HD) and intensity modulation/direction detection (IM/DD) is considered in our analysis while the general \k{appa}-μ shadowed fading which unifies popular RF fading models is employed for the analysis of the RF link. As a result, unified closed-form expressions of outage probabilities and average bit error rates for different modulation schemes are derived. Analytical and Monte Carlo simulation results are provided to characterize the performance of the hybrid FSO/RF link which is compared to the single FSO link and the single RF link. The agreement between the analytical and simulation results confirms the unification of various FSO channels and RF fading scenarios into a single closed-form expression.

Region proposal is critical for object detection while it usually poses a bottleneck in improving the computation efficiency on traditional control-flow architectures. We have observed region proposal tasks are potentially suitable for performing pipelined parallelism by exploiting dataflow driven acceleration. In this paper, a scalable pipelined dataflow accelerator is proposed for efficient region proposals on FPGA platform. The accelerator processes image data by a streaming manner with three sequential stages: resizing, kernel computing and sorting. First, **-Pong cache strategy is adopted for rotation loading in resize module to guarantee continuous output streaming. Then, a multiple pipelines architecture with tiered memory is utilized in kernel computing module to complete the main computation tasks. Finally, a bubble-pushing heap sort method is exploited in sorting module to find the top-k largest candidates efficiently. Our design is implemented with high level synthesis on FPGA platforms, and experimental results on VOC2007 datasets show that it could achieve about 3.67X speedups than traditional desktop CPU platform and >250X energy efficiency improvement than embedded ARM platform.

The relationship between the short circuit ratio (SCR) and static voltage stability is analyzed in this paper. According to eigenvalue decomposition method, a novel concept named generalized short circuit ratio (gSCR) has been proposed for multi-infeed LCC-HVDC (MIDC) systems to mathematically measure the connect-ed AC strength from the point view of voltage stability, which can overcome the rule-of-thumb basis of existing multi-infeed short circuit ratio (MISCR) concept. In gSCR, two indices, the critical gSCR (CgSCR) and the boundary gSCR (BgSCR) are developed to quantitatively evaluate if the connected AC system is strong or weak, in which CgSCR=2 and BgSCR=3 are two critical values for strength evaluation. Finally, numerical simulations are conducted to validate the effectiveness of the proposed gSCR concept.
