The Gardner problem and cycle slip** bifurcation for type 2 phase-locked loops
Abstract: In the present work, a second-order type 2 PLL with a piecewise-linear phase detector characteristic is analysed. An exact solution to the Gardner problem on the lock-in range is obtained for the considered model. The solution is based on a study of cycle slip** bifurcation and improves well-known engineering estimates.

Charge pump phase-locked loop with phase-frequency detector: closed form mathematical model
Abstract: Charge pump phase-locked loop with phase-frequency detector (CP-PLL) is an electrical circuit, widely used in digital systems for frequency synthesis and synchronization of the clock signals. In this paper a non-linear second-order model of CP-PLL is rigorously derived. The obtained model obviates the shortcomings of previously known second-order models of CP-PLL. Pull-in time is estimated for the… ▽ More

Comment on "Analysis of a Charge-Pump PLL: A New Model" by M. van Paemel
Abstract: In this short communication we comment on the non-linear mathematical model of CP-PLL introduced by V.Paemel. We reveal and obviate shortcomings in the model.
