Abstract:
This communication proposes a dual-wideband differentially fed dual-polarized magnetoelectric (ME) dipole with second-order bandstop filtering for millimeter-wave (mm-Wave) applications at 24.25-29.5 GHz and 37-43.5 GHz. Without disturbing the complementary antenna operation, two resonator types (hairpin and coupled λ/4 open-/short-circuited stub resonators), are embedded into the wideband ME dipo…

This communication proposes a dual-wideband differentially fed dual-polarized magnetoelectric (ME) dipole with second-order bandstop filtering for millimeter-wave (mm-Wave) applications at 24.25-29.5 GHz and 37-43.5 GHz. Without disturbing the complementary antenna operation, two resonator types (hairpin and coupled λ/4 open-/short-circuited stub resonators), are embedded into the wideband ME dipole to create two transmission poles and two zeros for sharp band-edge selectivity. This allows independent manipulation of the transmission poles and zeros and a compact ME dipole size. Across the operating band, the symmetric filtering antenna design has more than 31.6 dB of port-to-port isolation. Measured results show symmetrical E- and H-plane radiation patterns and cross-polarization levels lower than -25.1 dB. The measured gains of the single element and a 2x2 array are 8.3 dBi and 12.5 dBi, respectively. Also, the band rejection reaches 23.7 dB and 21.8 dB for single element and array, respectively.

Abstract:
This paper presents a compression scheme developed for the transport of downlink radio signals in packet fronthaul of centralized-radio access networks (C-RAN). The technique is tailored to frequency-domain functional splits, in which inactive LTE (or 5G NR) resource elements may not be transmitted in the packets. This allows decreasing the link data rate, especially when the cell load is low. The…

The compression scheme is based on two parts: transmission of side information to indicate active and inactive resource elements of the LTE, and nonuniform scalar quantization to compress the QAM symbols of the active resource elements. The method was implemented in the OpenAirInterface (OAI) software for real-time evaluation. The testbed results show a significant reduction in link usage with a low computational cost.

This paper applies a recently developed geometric PID controller to stabilize a three-link planar bipedal hybrid dynamic walking model. The three links represent the robot torso and two kneeless legs, with an independent control torque available at each hip joint. The geometric PID controller is derived for fully actuated mechanical systems, however in the swing phase the three-link biped robot has three degrees of freedom and only two controls. Following the bipedal walking literature, underactuation is addressed by choosing two "virtual constraints" to enforce, and verifying the stability of the resulting two-dimensional zero dynamics. The resulting controlled dynamics do not have the structure of a mechanical system, however this structure is restored using "feedback regularization," following which geometric PID control is used to provide robust asymptotic regulation of the virtual constraints. The proposed method can tolerate significantly greater variations in inclination, showing the value of the geometric methods, and the benefit of integral action.
