The automation of key processes in metal cutting would substantially benefit many industries such as manufacturing and metal recycling. We present a vision-based control scheme for automated metal cutting with oxy-fuel torches, an established cutting medium in industry. The system consists of a robot equipped with a cutting torch and an eye-in-hand camera observing the scene behind a tinted visor. We develop a vision-based control algorithm to servo the torch's motion by visually observing its effects on the metal surface. As such, the vision system processes the metal surface's heat pool and computes its associated features, specifically pool convexity and intensity, which are then used for control. The operating conditions of the control problem are defined within which the stability is proven. In addition, metal cutting experiments are performed using a physical 1-DOF robot and oxy-fuel cutting equipment. Our results demonstrate the successful cutting of metal plates across three different plate thicknesses, relying purely on visual information without a priori knowledge of the thicknesses.

A full-fledged data exploration system must combine different access modalities with a powerful concept of guiding the user in the exploration process, by being reactive and anticipative both for data discovery and for data linking. Such systems are a real opportunity for our community to cater to users with different domain and data science expertise. We introduce INODE -- an end-to-end data exploration system -- that leverages, on the one hand, Machine Learning and, on the other hand, semantics for the purpose of Data Management (DM). Our vision is to develop a classic unified, comprehensive platform that provides extensive access to open datasets, and we demonstrate it in three significant use cases in the fields of Cancer Biomarker Reearch, Research and Innovation Policy Making, and Astrophysics. INODE offers sustainable services in (a) data modeling and linking, (b) integrated query processing using natural language, (c) guidance, and (d) data exploration through visualization, thus facilitating the user in discovering new insights. We demonstrate that our system is uniquely accessible to a wide range of users from larger scientific communities to the public. Finally, we briefly illustrate how this work paves the way for new research opportunities in DM.

Administering standardized examinations is a challenging task, especially for those universities for which colleges affiliated to it are geographically distributed over a wide area. Some of the challenges include maintaining integrity and confidentiality of examination records, preventing mal-practices, issuing unique identification numbers to a large student population and managing assets required for the smooth conduct of examinations. These challenges aggravate when colleges affiliated to universities demand academic and administrative autonomy by demonstrating best practices consistently over a long period.
In this chapter, we describe a model for decentralized and autonomous examination system to provide the necessary administrative support. The model is based on two emerging technologies of Blockchain Technology and Internet of Things (IoT). We adopt a software architecture approach to describe the model. The prescriptive architecture consists of {\em architectural map**s} which map functional and non-functional requirements to architectural elements of blockchain technology and IoT. In architectural map**s, first, we identify common use-cases in administering standardized examinations. Then we map these use-cases to the core elements of blockchain, i.e. distributed ledgers, cryptography, consensus protocols and smart-contracts and IoT. Such kind of prescriptive architecture guide downstream software engineering processes of implementation and testing

The feedback of consumers who pass by an advertisement board is crucial for the marketing teams of corporate companies .If the emotions of a consumer are analyzed after exposure to the advertisement, it would help to rate the quality of the advertisement .The state of the art emotion analyzers can do this task seamlessly .However, if the consumer moves away from the center of the advertisement board, it becomes difficult for the camera to capture the person with sufficient details .Here, the role of an auto-pan and tilt camera is imminent if a person moves out from the frame limits of the camera .This paper aims to help solve the above issue by panning and tilting the camera by precise amount automatically using facial detection and interpolation algorithms .We propose a method where a camera attached to servo motors can automatically pan and tilt such that the subject is always in the center of the frame .This would be done by facial detection and interpolation of its position with respect to the angle of the camera .The direction of the camera is controlled with the help of a microcontroller, which takes-in the angle values of where the camera needs to move in order to maintain the subject's face in the center .We have designed a system that works on the Arduino platform and can pan and tilt the camera in real-time.
