The growing attention to artificial intelligence-based applications has led to research interest in explainability issues. This emerging research attention on explainable AI (XAI) advocates the need to investigate end user-centric explainable AI. Thus, this study aims to investigate usercentric explainable AI and considered recommendation systems as the study context. We conducted focus group interviews to collect qualitative data on the recommendation system. We asked participants about the end users' comprehension of a recommended item, its probable explanation, and their opinion of making a recommendation explainable. Our findings reveal that end users want a non-technical and tailor-made explanation with on-demand supplementary information. Moreover, we also observed users requiring an explanation about personal data usage, detailed user feedback, and authentic and reliable explanations. Finally, we propose a synthesized framework that aims at involving the end user in the development process for requirements collection and validation.

The final search query for the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) was conducted on 15th July 2022. Initially, we extracted 1707 journal and conference articles from the Scopus and Web of Science databases. Inclusion and exclusion criteria were then applied, and 58 articles were selected for the SLR. The findings show four dimensions that shape the AI explanation, which are format (explanation representation format), completeness (explanation should contain all required information, including the supplementary information), accuracy (information regarding the accuracy of the explanation), and currency (explanation should contain recent information). Moreover, along with the automatic representation of the explanation, the users can request additional information if needed. We have also found five dimensions of XAI effects: trust, transparency, understandability, usability, and fairness. In addition, we investigated current knowledge from selected articles to problematize future research agendas as research questions along with possible research paths. Consequently, a comprehensive framework of XAI and its possible effects on user behavior has been developed.

Dynamic capabilities theory emerged as a leading framework in the process of value creation for firms. Its core notion complements the premise of the resource-based view of the firm and is considered an important theoretical and management framework in modern information systems research. However, despite DCTs significant contributions, its strength and core focus are essentially in its use for historical firm performance explanation. Furthermore, valuable contributions have been made by several researchers in order to extend the DCT to fit the constantly changing IT environments and other imperative drivers for competitive performance. However, no DCT extension has been developed which allows firms to integrally assess their current state of maturity in order to derive imperative steps for further performance enhancements. In light of empirical advancement, this paper aims to develop a strategic alignment model for IT flexibility and dynamic capabilities and empirically validates proposed hypotheses using correlation and regression analyses on a large data sample of 322 international firms. We conjecture that the combined synergetic effect of the underlying dimensions of a firms IT flexibility architecture and dynamic capabilities enables organizations to cope with changing environmental conditions and drive competitive firm performance. Findings of this study suggest that there is a significant positive relationship between the firms degree of strategic alignment defined as the degree of balance between all dimensions and competitive firm performance. Strategic alignment can, therefore, be seen as an important condition that significantly influences a firms competitive advantage in constantly changing environments. The proposed framework helps firms assess and improve their maturity and alignment of IT flexibility and dynamic capabilities.

Social networks have risen to prominence over the last years as the predominant form of electronic interaction between individuals. In an attempt to harness the power of the large user base which they have managed to attract, this study proposes an e-learning prototype which integrates concepts of the social and semantic web. A selected set of services are deployed which have been scientifically proven to positively impact the learning process of users via electronic means. The integrability of these services into a social network platform application is visualized through an exploratory prototype. The Graphical User Interface (GUI) which is developed to implement these key features is in alignment with User-Centered principles. The designed prototype proves that a number of services can be integrated in a user-friendly application and can potentially serve to gain feedback regarding additional aspects that should be included.
