Artificial neural networks trained on large, expert-labelled datasets are considered state-of-the-art for a range of medical image recognition tasks. However, categorically labelled datasets are time-consuming to generate and constrain classification to a pre-defined, fixed set of classes. For neuroradiological applications in particular, this represents a barrier to clinical adoption. To address these challenges, we present a self-supervised text-vision framework that learns to detect clinically relevant abnormalities in brain MRI scans by directly leveraging the rich information contained in accompanying free-text neuroradiology reports. Our training approach consisted of two-steps. First, a dedicated neuroradiological language model - NeuroBERT - was trained to generate fixed-dimensional vector representations of neuroradiology reports (N = 50,523) via domain-specific self-supervised learning tasks. Next, convolutional neural networks (one per MRI sequence) learnt to map individual brain scans to their corresponding text vector representations by optimising a mean square error loss. Once trained, our text-vision framework can be used to detect abnormalities in unreported brain MRI examinations by scoring scans against suitable query sentences (e.g., 'there is an acute stroke', 'there is hydrocephalus' etc.), enabling a range of classification-based applications including automated triage. Potentially, our framework could also serve as a clinical decision support tool, not only by suggesting findings to radiologists and detecting errors in provisional reports, but also by retrieving and displaying examples of pathologies from historical examinations that could be relevant to the current case based on textual descriptors.

The growth of generative adversarial network (GAN) models has increased the ability of image processing and provides numerous industries with the technology to produce realistic image transformations. However, with the field being recently established there are new evaluation metrics that can further this research. Previous research has shown the Fréchet Inception Distance (FID) to be an effective metric when testing these image-to-image GANs in real-world applications. Signed Inception Distance (SID), a founded metric in 2023, expands on FID by allowing unsigned distances. This paper uses public datasets that consist of façades, cityscapes, and maps within Pix2Pix and CycleGAN models. After training these models are evaluated on both inception distance metrics which measure the generating performance of the trained models. Our findings indicate that usage of the metric SID incorporates an efficient and effective metric to complement, or even exceed the ability shown using the FID for the image-to-image GANs

Music can evoke various emotions, and with the advancement of technology, it has become more accessible to people. Bangla music, which portrays different human emotions, lacks sufficient research. The authors of this article aim to analyze Bangla songs and classify their moods based on the lyrics. To achieve this, this research has compiled a dataset of 4000 Bangla song lyrics, genres, and used Natural Language Processing and the Bert Algorithm to analyze the data. Among the 4000 songs, 1513 songs are represented for the sad mood, 1362 for the romantic mood, 886 for happiness, and the rest 239 are classified as relaxation. By embedding the lyrics of the songs, the authors have classified the songs into four moods: Happy, Sad, Romantic, and Relaxed. This research is crucial as it enables a multi-class classification of songs' moods, making the music more relatable to people's emotions. The article presents the automated result of the four moods accurately derived from the song lyrics.

The COVID-19 pandemic has caused a surge in the use of online delivery services, which rely on user-generated content to promote collaborative consumption. Although Online Food Delivery (OFD) is a popular delivery system in Bangladesh, it has yet to ensure item authenticity, especially with the increasing demand for lightweight commodity delivery services across the country. The authenticity of products, involvement of multiple parties, and fair exchange are all challenging aspects of coast-to-coast services. Therefore, it is necessary for the three entities involved in the supply chain transaction - Seller, Carrier, and Buyer - to establish at least two peer-to-peer operations to ensure reliability and efficiency. To address these limitations and meet consumer expectations, the study proposes a framework for a nationwide on-demand marketplace for lightweight commodity items and a delivery system. Furthermore, transaction details are stored in a Blockchain to ensure the transparency and reliability of the proposed system.

Submitting fake certificates is a common problem in Southeast Asia, which prevents qualified candidates from getting the jobs they deserve. When applying for a job, students must provide academic credentials as proof of their qualifications, acquired both inside and outside the classroom. Verifying academic documents before hiring is crucial to prevent fraud. Employing blockchain technology has the potential to address this issue. Blockchain provides an electronic certificate that is tamper-proof and non-repudiable, making it difficult for students to manipulate their academic credentials. This paper presents a prototype for an academic credential verification model that leverages the security features of blockchain and IPFS (Interplanetary File System). Certificates are temporarily stored in a database before being transferred to IPFS, where a unique hash code is generated using a hashing algorithm. This hash code serves as the certificate's unique identity and is stored in the blockchain nodes. Companies can verify an applicant's credentials by searching for the applicant and accessing their already verified certificates. Utilizing IPFS as a middleman storage platform lowers the expenses of directly storing massive data on the blockchain. To sum it up, the proposed solution would make the process of certificate verification more efficient, secure, and cost-effective. It would save time and resources that would otherwise be used to manually verify certificates.

The aim of the systematic review was to assess recently published studies on diagnostic test accuracy of glioblastoma treatment response monitoring biomarkers in adults, developed through machine learning (ML). Articles were searched for using MEDLINE, EMBASE, and the Cochrane Register. Included study participants were adult patients with high grade glioma who had undergone standard treatment (maximal resection, radiotherapy with concomitant and adjuvant temozolomide) and subsequently underwent follow-up imaging to determine treatment response status. Risk of bias and applicability was assessed with QUADAS 2 methodology. Contingency tables were created for hold-out test sets and recall, specificity, precision, F1-score, balanced accuracy calculated. Fifteen studies were included with 1038 patients in training sets and 233 in test sets. To determine whether there was progression or a mimic, the reference standard combination of follow-up imaging and histopathology at re-operation was applied in 67% of studies. The small numbers of patient included in studies, the high risk of bias and concerns of applicability in the study designs (particularly in relation to the reference standard and patient selection due to confounding), and the low level of evidence, suggest that limited conclusions can be drawn from the data. There is likely good diagnostic performance of machine learning models that use MRI features to distinguish between progression and mimics. The diagnostic performance of ML using implicit features did not appear to be superior to ML using explicit features. There are a range of ML-based solutions poised to become treatment response monitoring biomarkers for glioblastoma. To achieve this, the development and validation of ML models require large, well-annotated datasets where the potential for confounding in the study design has been carefully considered.

The outbreak of the novel Corona Virus in 2019, named COVID-19, causes the ongoing global pandemic. This pandemic has a devastating socio-economic impact across the globe. On the other hand, due to the pre-pandemic aggressive urbanization with the steep population growth, modern cities also facing substantial challenges. Hence, usage of technology is anticipated to be the precondition for adaptive, resilient, and sustainable development, where, a smart city is defined as the accumulated advanced ideas of information and technology aiming to ensure a decent quality of life for the inhabitants. Considering the current growth rate of 1.9 percent, the projected population of Bangladesh will exceed 180 million in 2026. It is also speculated that Dhaka being the capital will be populated with 14 million inhabitants. Moreover, Dhaka has already been labeled as the most densely populated city in the world. Thus, concerned authorities are facing enormous challenges to provide and ensure fundamental services to the in-habitants. Therefore, this has become the need of the hour to conceptualize an information and communication technology-driven smart city for Bangladesh. A smart city may contain numerous components; however, the proposed framework identifies seven components and services for smart cities in Bangladesh. These are healthcare, education, transportation, public safety, real estate, utilities, and city administration. Discussions on these components are carried out in this paper.

Neural Networks and Deep Learning have seen an upsurge of research in the past decade due to the improved results. Generates text from the given image is a crucial task that requires the combination of both sectors which are computer vision and natural language processing in order to understand an image and represent it using a natural language. However existing works have all been done on a particular lingual domain and on the same set of data. This leads to the systems being developed to perform poorly on images that belong to specific locales' geographical context. TextMage is a system that is capable of understanding visual scenes that belong to the Bangladeshi geographical context and use its knowledge to represent what it understands in Bengali. Hence, we have trained a model on our previously developed and published dataset named BanglaLekhaImageCaptions. This dataset contains 9,154 images along with two annotations for each image. In order to access performance, the proposed model has been implemented and evaluated.

The proposed protocol accommodates the dynamic behavior of the spectrum availability and selects a stable transmission path from a source node to the destination. Outlined as a weighted graph problem, the proposed protocol measures the weight for an edge the measuring the mobility patterns of the nodes and channel availability. Furthermore, the mobility pattern of a node is defined in the proposed routing protocol from the viewpoint of distance, speed, direction, and node's reliability. Besides, the spectrum awareness in the proposed protocol is measured over the number of shared common channels and the channel quality. It is anticipated that the proposed protocol shows efficient routing performance by selecting stable and secured paths from source to destination. Cognitive radio technology offers an important function in the efficient utilization of the radio spectrum. Besides, it is expected that CR-enabled vehicular ad-hoc networks (CR-VANETs) enrich the communication performance of the existing vehicular networks (VANETs). However, to ensure efficient performance in a multi-hop communication, the routing protocol in CR-VANETs needs to consider the autonomous mobility of the vehicles as well as the stochastic availability of the channels. Hence, this paper introduces a spectrum-aware mobility pattern based reactive routing protocol for CR-VANET. The proposed protocol accommodates the dynamic behavior and selects a stable transmission path from a source node to the destination. Therefore, the proposed protocol is outlined as a weighted graph problem where the weight for an edge is measured based on a parameter termed as NHDF (Next-hop Determination Factor). The NHDF implicitly considers mobility patterns of the nodes and channel availability to select the optimum path for communication. Therefore, in the proposed routing protocol, the mobility pattern of a node is defined from the viewpoint of distance, speed, direction, and node's reliability. Furthermore, the spectrum awareness in the proposed protocol is measured over the number of shared common channels and the channel quality. It is anticipated that the proposed protocol shows efficient routing performance by selecting stable and secured paths from source to destination. Wireless interconnection has emerged as an energy efficient solution to the challenges of multi-hop communication over the wireline paths in conventional Networks-on-Chips (NoCs). However, to ensure the full benefits of this novel interconnect technology, design of simple, fair and efficient Medium Access Control (MAC) mechanism to grant access to the on-chip wireless communication channel is needed. Moreover, to adapt to the varying traffic demands from the applications running on a multicore environment, MAC mechanisms should dynamically adjust the transmission slots of the wireless interfaces (WIs). Such dynamic adjustment in transmission slots will result in improving the utilization of the wireless medium in a Wireless NoC (WiNoC). In this paper we present the design of two dynamic MAC mechanisms that adjust the transmission slots of the WIs based on predicted traffic demands and allow partial packet transfer. Through system level simulations, we demonstrate that the traffic aware MAC mechanisms are more energy efficient as well as capable of sustaining higher data bandwidth in WiNoCs.

Automatic image caption generation aims to produce an accurate description of an image in natural language automatically. However, Bangla, the fifth most widely spoken language in the world, is lagging considerably in the research and development of such domain. Besides, while there are many established data sets to related to image annotation in English, no such resource exists for Bangla yet. Hence, this paper outlines the development of "Chittron", an automatic image captioning system in Bangla. Moreover, to address the data set availability issue, a collection of 16,000 Bangladeshi contextual images has been accumulated and manually annotated in Bangla. This data set is then used to train a model which integrates a pre-trained VGG16 image embedding model with stacked LSTM layers. The model is trained to predict the caption when the input is an image, one word at a time. The results show that the model has successfully been able to learn a working language model and to generate captions of images quite accurately in many cases. The results are evaluated mainly qualitatively. However, BLEU scores are also reported. It is expected that a better result can be obtained with a bigger and more varied data set.

Full utilization of the benefits of these integrated multichip systems need a seamless, and scalable in-package interconnection framework. However, state-of-the-art inter-chip communication requires long wireline channels which increases energy consumption and latency while decreasing data bandwidth. Here, we propose the design of an energy-efficient, seamless wireless interconnection network for multichip systems. We demonstrate with cycle-accurate simulations that such a design reduces the energy consumption and latency while increasing the bandwidth in comparison to modern multichip integration systems.
