This research reports VascularPilot3D, the first 3D fully autonomous endovascular robot navigation system. As an exploration toward autonomous guidewire navigation, VascularPilot3D is developed as a complete navigation system based on intra-operative imaging systems (fluoroscopic X-ray in this study) and typical endovascular robots. VascularPilot3D adopts previously researched fast 3D-2D vessel registration algorithms and guidewire segmentation methods as its perception modules. We additionally propose three modules: a topology-constrained 2D-3D instrument end-point lifting method, a tree-based fast path planning algorithm, and a prior-free endovascular navigation strategy. VascularPilot3D is compatible with most mainstream endovascular robots. Ex-vivo experiments validate that VascularPilot3D achieves 100% success rate among 25 trials. It reduces the human surgeon's overall control loops by 18.38%. VascularPilot3D is promising for general clinical autonomous endovascular navigations.

Swarm Intelligence (SI) is a natural phenomenon that enables biological groups to amplify their combined intellect by forming real-time systems. Artificial Swarm Intelligence (or Swarm AI) is a technology that enables networked human groups to amplify their combined intelligence by forming similar systems. In the past, swarm-based methods were constrained to narrowly defined tasks like probabilistic forecasting and multiple-choice decision making. A new technology called Conversational Swarm Intelligence (CSI) was developed in 2023 that amplifies the decision-making accuracy of networked human groups through natural conversational deliberations. The current study evaluated the ability of real-time groups using a CSI platform to take a common IQ test known as Raven's Advanced Progressive Matrices (RAPM). First, a baseline group of participants took the Raven's IQ test by traditional survey. This group averaged 45.6% correct. Then, groups of approximately 35 individuals answered IQ test questions together using a CSI platform called Thinkscape. These groups averaged 80.5% correct. This places the CSI groups in the 97th percentile of IQ test-takers and corresponds to an effective IQ increase of 28 points (p<0.001). This is an encouraging result and suggests that CSI is a powerful method for enabling conversational collective intelligence in large, networked groups. In addition, because CSI is scalable across groups of potentially any size, this technology may provide a viable pathway to building a Collective Superintelligence.

Conversational Swarm Intelligence (CSI) is a communication technology that enables large, networked groups (25 to 2500 people) to hold real-time conversational deliberations online. Modeled on the dynamics of biological swarms, CSI enables the reasoning benefits of small-groups with the collective intelligence benefits of large-groups. In this pilot study, groups of 25 to 30 participants were asked to select players for a weekly Fantasy Football contest over an 11-week period. As a baseline, participants filled out a survey to record their player selections. As an experimental method, participants engaged in a real-time text-chat deliberation using a CSI platform called Thinkscape to collaboratively select sets of players. The results show that the real-time conversational group using CSI outperformed 66% of survey participants, demonstrating significant amplification of intelligence versus the median individual (p=0.020). The CSI method also significantly outperformed the most popular choices from the survey (the Wisdom of Crowd, p<0.001). These results suggest that CSI is an effective technology for amplifying the intelligence of groups engaged in real-time large-scale conversational deliberation and may offer a path to collective superintelligence.

Synthetic data has made tremendous strides in various commercial settings including finance, healthcare, and virtual reality. We present a broad overview of prototypical applications of synthetic data in the financial sector and in particular provide richer details for a few select ones. These cover a wide variety of data modalities including tabular, time-series, event-series, and unstructured arising from both markets and retail financial applications. Since finance is a highly regulated industry, synthetic data is a potential approach for dealing with issues related to privacy, fairness, and explainability. Various metrics are utilized in evaluating the quality and effectiveness of our approaches in these applications. We conclude with open directions in synthetic data in the context of the financial domain.

Real-time conversational deliberation is a critical groupwise method for reaching decisions, solving problems, evaluating priorities, generating ideas, and producing insights. Unfortunately, real-time conversations are difficult to scale, losing effectiveness as groups grow above 5 to 7 members. Conversational Swarm Intelligence (CSI) is a new technology modeled on the dynamics of biological swarms. It aims to enable networked groups of any size to hold productive real-time deliberations that converge on unified solutions. CSI leverages the power of Large Language Models (LLMs) in a unique and powerful way, allowing real-time dialog among small local groups while simultaneously enabling efficient content propagation across much larger populations. In this way, CSI combines the benefits of small-scale deliberative reasoning and large-scale collective intelligence. In this study, we compare deliberative groups of 48 people using standard online chat to the same sized groups using a prototype chat-based CSI system called Thinkscape. Results show that participants using CSI contributed 51% more content (p<0.001) than those using standard chat, and the deliberations using CSI showed 37% less difference in contribution quantity between the most active vs least active members, indicating more balanced dialog. And finally, a large majority of participants preferred deliberating using the CSI system over standard chat (p<0.05) and re-ported feeling more impactful when doing so (p<0.01). These results suggest that Conversational Swarm Intelligence is a promising technology for enabling large-scale deliberation.

Through the novel use of conversational agents powered by Large Language Models (LLMs), the CSI structure simultaneously enables local dialog among small deliberative groups and global propagation of conversational content across a larger population. In this way, CSI combines the benefits of small-group deliberative reasoning and large-scale collective intelligence. In this pilot study, participants deliberating in conversational swarms (via text chat) (a) produced 30% more contributions (p<0.05) than participants deliberating in a standard centralized chat room and (b) demonstrated 7.2% less variance in contribution quantity. These results indicate that users contributed more content and participated more evenly when using the CSI structure.

Significant development of ride-sharing services presents a plethora of opportunities to transform urban mobility by providing personalized and convenient transportation while ensuring efficiency of large-scale ride pooling. However, a core problem for such services is route planning for each driver to fulfill the dynamically arriving requests while satisfying given constraints. Current models are mostly limited to static routes with only two rides per vehicle (optimally) or three (with heuristics). In this paper, we present a dynamic, demand aware, and pricing-based vehicle-passenger matching and route planning framework that (1) dynamically generates optimal routes for each vehicle based on online demand, pricing associated with each ride, vehicle capacities and locations. This matching algorithm starts greedily and optimizes over time using an insertion operation, (2) involves drivers in the decision-making process by allowing them to propose a different price based on the expected reward for a particular ride as well as the destination locations for future rides, which is influenced by supply-and demand computed by the Deep Q-network, (3) allows customers to accept or reject rides based on their set of preferences with respect to pricing and delay windows, vehicle type and carpooling preferences, and (4) based on demand prediction, our approach re-balances idle vehicles by dispatching them to the areas of anticipated high demand using deep Reinforcement Learning (RL). Our framework is validated using the New York City Taxi public dataset; however, we consider different vehicle types and designed customer utility functions to validate the setup and study different settings. Experimental results show the effectiveness of our approach in real-time and large scale settings.
