The lack of large annotated datasets in medical imaging is an intrinsic burden for supervised Deep Learning (DL) segmentation models. Few-shot learning approaches are cost-effective solutions to transfer pre-trained models using only limited annotated data. However, such methods can be prone to overfitting due to limited data diversity especially when segmenting complex, diverse, and sparse tubular structures like airways. Furthermore, crafting informative image representations has played a crucial role in medical imaging, enabling discriminative enhancement of anatomical details. In this paper, we initially train a data-driven sparsification module to enhance airways efficiently in lung CT scans. We then incorporate these sparse representations in a standard supervised segmentation pipeline as a pretraining step to enhance the performance of the DL models. Results presented on the ATM public challenge cohort show the effectiveness of using sparse priors in pre-training, leading to segmentation Dice score increase by 1% to 10% in full-scale and few-shot learning scenarios, respectively.

In today's information technology (IT) era, a major part of the costs is being spent on computational needs. Enterprises are in efforts to increase their Return on Investment (ROI) and individuals are trying to reduce their costs. In this regard, cloud computing which emerges as a fifth utility can reduce costs and enhance performance of IT solutions. A large number of companies and institutions are dealing with cloud related issues as a provider or user. Due to the fact that cloud computing services have been proposed in recent years, organizations and individuals face with various challenges and problems such as how to migrate applications and software platforms into cloud and how to ensure security of migrated applications and etc. Given that many different definitions of cloud computing is presented in many publications and projects, a concrete and clear definition for cloud computing considering its characteristics, models and services is provided in this paper. In addition, current challenges and open issues in cloud computing is discussed in details and further recommendations and roadmaps for scientific activities and researches as well as potentials for improvements in this area from scientific and commercial points of view are given in this paper.

We propose a novel application of Transfer Learning to classify video-frame sequences over multiple classes. This is a pre-weighted model that does not require to train a fresh CNN. This representation is achieved with the advent of "deep neural network" (DNN), which is being studied these days by many researchers. We utilize the classical approaches for video classification task using object detection techniques for comparison, such as "Google Video Intelligence API" and this study will run experiments as to how those architectures would perform in foggy or rainy weather conditions. Experimental evaluation on video collections shows that the new proposed classifier achieves superior performance over existing solutions.

Outlier detection has received special attention in various fields, mainly for those dealing with machine learning and artificial intelligence. As strong outliers, anomalies are divided into the point, contextual and collective outliers. The most important challenges in outlier detection include the thin boundary between the remote points and natural area, the tendency of new data and noise to mimic the real data, unlabelled datasets and different definitions for outliers in different applications. Considering the stated challenges, we defined new types of anomalies called Collective Normal Anomaly and Collective Point Anomaly in order to improve a much better detection of the thin boundary between different types of anomalies. Basic domain-independent methods are introduced to detect these defined anomalies in both unsupervised and supervised datasets. The Multi-Layer Perceptron Neural Network is enhanced using the Genetic Algorithm to detect newly defined anomalies with higher precision so as to ensure a test error less than that calculated for the conventional Multi-Layer Perceptron Neural Network. Experimental results on benchmark datasets indicated reduced error of anomaly detection process in comparison to baselines.

As technology scales down, the static power is expected to become a significant fraction of the total power. The exponential dependence of static power with the operating temperature makes the thermal profile estimation of high-performance ICs a key issue to compute the total power dissipated in next-generations. In this paper we present accurate and compact analytical models to estimate the static power dissipation and the temperature of operation of CMOS gates. The models are the fundamentals of a performance estimation tool in which numerical procedures are avoided for any computation to set a faster estimation and optimization. The models developed are compared to measurements and SPICE simulations for a 0.12mm technology showing excellent results.
