Software containers greatly facilitate the deployment and reproducibility of scientific data analyses in various platforms. However, container images often contain outdated or unnecessary software packages, which increases the number of security vulnerabilities in the images, widens the attack surface in the container host, and creates substantial security risks for computing infrastructures at large. This paper presents a vulnerability analysis of container images for scientific data analysis. We compare results obtained with four vulnerability scanners, focusing on the use case of neuroscience data analysis, and quantifying the effect of image update and minification on the number of vulnerabilities. We find that container images used for neuroscience data analysis contain hundreds of vulnerabilities, that software updates remove about two thirds of these vulnerabilities, and that removing unused packages is also effective. We conclude with recommendations on how to build container images with a reduced amount of vulnerabilities.

This paper represents a cost-effective scene perception system aimed towards visually impaired individual. We use an odroid system integrated with an USB camera and USB laser that can be attached on the chest. The system classifies the detected objects along with its distance from the user and provides a voice output. Experimental results provided in this paper use outdoor traffic scenes. The object detection and classification framework exploits a multi-modal fusion based faster RCNN using motion, sharpening and blurring filters for efficient feature representation.

This research mainly emphasizes on traffic detection thus essentially involving object detection and classification. The particular work discussed here is motivated from unsatisfactory attempts of re-using well known pre-trained object detection networks for domain specific data. In this course, some trivial issues leading to prominent performance drop are identified and ways to resolve them are discussed. For example, some simple yet relevant tricks regarding data collection and sampling prove to be very beneficial. Also, introducing a blur net to deal with blurred real time data is another important factor promoting performance elevation. We further study the neural network design issues for beneficial object classification and involve shared, region-independent convolutional features. Adaptive learning rates to deal with saddle points are also investigated and an average covariance matrix based pre-conditioned approach is proposed. We also introduce the use of optical flow features to accommodate orientation information. Experimental results demonstrate that this results in a steady rise in the performance rate.

In this paper an attempt has been made to identify most important human resource factors and propose a diagnostic model based on the back-propagation and connectionist model approaches of artificial neural network (ANN). The focus of the study is on the mobile -communication industry of India. The ANN based approach is particularly important because conventional approaches (such as algorithmic) to the problem solving have their inherent disadvantages. The algorithmic approach is well-suited to the problems that are well-understood and known solution(s). On the other hand the ANNs have learning by example and processing capabilities similar to that of a human brain. ANN has been followed due to its inherent advantage over conversion algorithmic like approaches and having capabilities, training and human like intuitive decision making capabilities. Therefore, this ANN based approach is likely to help researchers and organizations to reach a better solution to the problem of managing the human resource. The study is particularly important as many studies have been carried in developed countries but there is a shortage of such studies in develo** nations like India. Here, a model has been derived using connectionist-ANN approach and improved and verified via back-propagation algorithm. This suggested ANN based model can be used for testing the success and failure human factors in any of the communication Industry. Results have been obtained on the basis of connectionist model, which has been further refined by BPNN to an accuracy of 99.99%. Any company to predict failure due to HR factors can directly deploy this model.

OPNET Modeler accelerates network R&D and improves product quality through high-fidelity modeling and scalable simulation. It provides a virtual environment for designing protocols and devices, and for testing and demonstrating designs in realistic scenarios prior to production. OPNET Modeler supports 802.15.4 standard and has been used to make a model of PAN. Iterations have been performed by changing the Power of the transmitter and the throughput will has been analyzed to arrive at optimal values.An energy-efficient wireless home network based on IEEE 802.15.4, a novel architecture has been proposed. In this architecture, all nodes are classified into stationary nodes and mobile nodes according to the functionality of each node. Mobile nodes are usually battery-powered, and therefore need low-power operation. In order to improve power consumption of mobile nodes, effective handover sequence based on MAC broadcast and transmission power control based on LQ (link quality) are employed. Experimental results demonstrate that by using the proposed architecture, communication time and power consumption of mobile nodes can be reduced by 1.2 seconds and 42.8%, respectively.
