Vaccinations against viruses have always been the need of the hour since long past. However, it is hard to efficiently distribute the vaccines (on time) to all the corners of a country, especially during a pandemic. Considering the vastness of the population, diversified communities, and demands of a smart society, it is an important task to optimize the vaccine distribution strategy in any country/state effectively. Although there is a profusion of data (Big Data) from various vaccine administration sites that can be mined to gain valuable insights about mass vaccination drives, very few attempts has been made towards revolutionizing the traditional mass vaccination campaigns to mitigate the socio-economic crises of pandemic afflicted countries. In this paper, we bridge this gap in studies and experimentation. We collect daily vaccination data which is publicly available and carefully analyze it to generate meaning-full insights and predictions. We put forward a novel framework leveraging Supervised Learning and Reinforcement Learning (RL) which we call VacciNet, that is capable of learning to predict the demand of vaccination in a state of a country as well as suggest optimal vaccine allocation in the state for minimum cost of procurement and supply. At the present, our framework is trained and tested with vaccination data of the USA.

Semi-supervised object detection methods are widely used in autonomous driving systems, where only a fraction of objects are labeled. To propagate information from the labeled objects to the unlabeled ones, pseudo-labels for unlabeled objects must be generated. Although pseudo-labels have proven to improve the performance of semi-supervised object detection significantly, the applications of image-based methods to video frames result in numerous miss or false detections using such generated pseudo-labels. In this paper, we propose a new approach, PseudoProp, to generate robust pseudo-labels by leveraging motion continuity in video frames. Specifically, PseudoProp uses a novel bidirectional pseudo-label propagation approach to compensate for misdetection. A feature-based fusion technique is also used to suppress inference noise. Extensive experiments on the large-scale Cityscapes dataset demonstrate that our method outperforms the state-of-the-art semi-supervised object detection methods by 7.4% on mAP75.

Deep learning has shown promising results on many machine learning tasks but DL models are often complex networks with large number of neurons and layers, and recently, complex layer structures known as building blocks. Finding the best deep model requires a combination of finding both the right architecture and the correct set of parameters appropriate for that architecture. In addition, this complexity (in terms of layer types, number of neurons, and number of layers) also present problems with generalization since larger networks are easier to overfit to the data. In this paper, we propose a search framework for finding effective architectural building blocks for convolutional neural networks (CNN). Our approach is much faster at finding models that are close to state-of-the-art in performance. In addition, the models discovered by our approach are also smaller than models discovered by similar techniques. We achieve these twin advantages by designing our search space in such a way that it searches over a reduced set of state-of-the-art building blocks for CNNs including residual block, inception block, inception-residual block, ResNeXt block and many others. We apply this technique to generate models for multiple image datasets and show that these models achieve performance comparable to state-of-the-art (and even surpassing the state-of-the-art in one case). We also show that learned models are transferable between datasets.

Learning features invariant to arbitrary transformations in the data is a requirement for any recognition system, biological or artificial. It is now widely accepted that simple cells in the primary visual cortex respond to features while the complex cells respond to features invariant to different transformations. We present a novel two-layered feedforward neural model that learns features in the first layer by spatial spherical clustering and invariance to transformations in the second layer by temporal spherical clustering. Learning occurs in an online and unsupervised manner following the Hebbian rule. When exposed to natural videos acquired by a camera mounted on a cat's head, the first and second layer neurons in our model develop simple and complex cell-like receptive field properties. The model can predict by learning lateral connections among the first layer neurons. A topographic map to their spatial features emerges by exponentially decaying the flow of activation with distance from one neuron to another in the first layer that fire in close temporal proximity, thereby minimizing the pooling length in an online manner simultaneously with feature learning.

Designing a web-application from a specification involves a series of well-planned and well executed steps leading to the final product. This often involves critical changes in design while testing the application, which itself is slow and cumbersome. Traditional approaches either fully automate the web-application development process, or let developers write everything from scratch. Our approach is based on a middle-ground, with precise control on the workflow and usage of a set of custom-made software tools to automate a significant part of code generation.
