In this paper, we consider a downlink (DL) massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) system, where different users have different mobility profiles. To support this system, we propose to use a hybrid orthogonal time frequency space (OTFS)/orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) modulation scheme, where OTFS is applied for high-mobility users and OFDM is used for low-mobility users. Two precoding designs, namely full zero-forcing (FZF) precoding and partial zero-forcing (PZF) precoding, are considered and analyzed in terms of per-user spectral efficiency (SE). With FZF, interference among users is totally eliminated at the cost of high computational complexity, while PZF can be used to provide a trade-off between complexity and performance. To apply PZF precoding, users are grouped into two disjoint groups according to their mobility profile or channel gain. Then, zero-forcing (ZF) is utilized for high-mobility or strong channel gain users to completely cancel the inter-group interference, while maximum ratio transmission (MRT) is applied for low-mobility users or users with weak channel gain. To shed light on the system performance, the SE for high-mobility and low-mobility users with a minimum-mean-square-error (MMSE)-successive interference cancellation (SIC) detector is investigated. Our numerical results reveal that the PZF precoding with channel gain grou** can guarantee a similar quality of service for all users. In addition, with mobility-based grou**, the hybrid OTFS/OFDM modulation outperforms the conventional OFDM modulation for high-mobility users.

Text simplification aims to make the text easier to understand by applying rewriting transformations. There has been very little research on Chinese text simplification for a long time. The lack of generic evaluation data is an essential reason for this phenomenon. In this paper, we introduce MCTS, a multi-reference Chinese text simplification dataset. We describe the annotation process of the dataset and provide a detailed analysis. Furthermore, we evaluate the performance of several unsupervised methods and advanced large language models. We additionally provide Chinese text simplification parallel data that can be used for training, acquired by utilizing machine translation and English text simplification. We hope to build a basic understanding of Chinese text simplification through the foundational work and provide references for future research. This paper describes the BLCU-ICALL system used in the SemEval-2022 Task 1 Comparing Dictionaries and Word Embeddings, the Definition Modeling subtrack, achieving 1st on Italian, 2nd on Spanish and Russian, and 3rd on English and French. We propose a transformer-based multitasking framework to explore the task. The framework integrates multiple embedding architectures through the cross-attention mechanism, and captures the structure of glosses through a masking language model objective. Additionally, we also investigate a simple but effective model ensembling strategy to further improve the robustness. The evaluation results show the effectiveness of our solution. Rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune disease that causes joint damage due to inflammation in the soft tissue lining the joints known as the synovium. It is vital to identify joint damage as soon as possible to provide necessary treatment early and prevent further damage to the bone structures. Radiographs are often used to assess the extent of the joint damage. Currently, the scoring of joint damage from the radiograph takes expertise, effort, and time. Joint damage associated with rheumatoid arthritis is also not quantitated in clinical practice and subjective descriptors are used. In this work, we describe a pipeline of deep learning models to automatically identify and score rheumatoid arthritic joint damage from a radiographic image. Our automatic tool was shown to produce scores with extremely high balanced accuracy within a couple of minutes and utilizing this would remove the subjectivity of the scores between human reviewers.
