A comparison of several AI techniques for authorship attribution on Romanian texts
Abstract: Determining the author of a text is a difficult task. Here we compare multiple AI techniques for classifying literary texts written by multiple authors by taking into account a limited number of speech parts (prepositions, adverbs, and conjunctions). We also introduce a new dataset composed of texts written in the Romanian language on which we have run the algorithms. The compared methods are Arti… ▽ More

Comments: We initially used the Accuracy evaluation tool to compute the macro-accuracy, obtaining a value of 88.84%. We, thereafter discovered that this value was erroneous and used other methods which gave us the value of 80.94% for the macro-accuracy. In this version of the paper we present the python module solution by using sklearn.metrics's classification_report and balanced_accuracy_score

Exposure to Social Engagement Metrics Increases Vulnerability to Misinformation
Abstract: News feeds in virtually all social media platforms include engagement metrics, such as the number of times each post is liked and shared. We find that exposure to these social engagement signals increases the vulnerability of users to misinformation. This finding has important implications for the design of social media interactions in the misinformation age. To reduce the spread of misinformation… ▽ More

RelSifter: Scoring Triples from Type-like Relations - The Samphire Triple Scorer at WSDM Cup 2017
Abstract: We present RelSifter, a supervised learning approach to the problem of assigning relevance scores to triples expressing type-like relations such as 'profession' and 'nationality.' To provide additional contextual information about individuals and relations we supplement the data provided as part of the WSDM 2017 Triple Score contest with Wikidata and DBpedia, two large-scale knowledge graphs (KG).… ▽ More

Microfluidic Device for Continuous Magnetophoretic Separation of Red Blood Cells
Abstract: This paper presents a microfluidic device for magnetophoretic separation red blood cells from blood under contionous flow. The separation method consist of continous flow of a blood sample (diluted in PBS) through a microfluidic channel which presents on the bottom "dots" of feromagnetic layer. By appling a magnetic field perpendicular on the flowing direction, the feromagnetic "dots" generates… ▽ More
