Spin-polarized Specular Andreev Reflections in Altermagnets
Abstract: We propose a multi-terminal device consisting of an $s$-wave superconductor coupled to an altermagnet, to generate highly correlated spin currents via Cooper pair splitting. Remarkably, we find that the correlated spin currents are induced by specular Andreev reflections in the altermagnet, an effect that has up to now been predicted to occur only in a very limited number of systems, e.g., Dirac/W… ▽ More

Multi-locational Majorana Zero Modes
Abstract: We show the appearance of an unconventional Majorana zero mode whose wave function splits into multiple parts located at different ends of different topological superconductors, hereinafter referred to as a multi-locational Majorana zero mode. Specifically, we discuss the multi-locational Majorana zero modes in a three-terminal Josephson junction consisting of topological superconductors, which fo… ▽ More

Electric field thermopower modulation analysis of an interfacial conducting layer formed between Y2O3 and rutile TiO2
Abstract: Electric field modulation analysis of thermopower (S) - carrier concentration (n) relation of a bilayer laminate structure composed of a 1.5-nm thick conducting layer, probably TinO2n-1 (n=2, 3,...) Magnéli phase, and rutile TiO2 was performed. The results clearly showed that both the rutile TiO2 and the thin interfacial layer contribute to carrier transport: the rutile TiO2 bulk region (mobility… ▽ More

Electric field modulation of thermopower for transparent amorphous oxide thin film transistors
Abstract: To clarify the electronic density of states (DOS) around the conduction band bottom for state of the art transparent amorphous oxide semiconductors (TAOSs), InGaZnO4 and In2MgO4, we fabricated TAOS-based transparent thin film transistors (TTFTs) and measured their gate voltage dependence of thermopower (S). TAOS-based TTFTs exhibit an unusual S behavior. The |S|-value abruptly increases, but then… ▽ More

Experimental characterization of the electronic structure of anatase TiO2: Thermopower modulation
Abstract: Thermopower (S) for anatase TiO2 epitaxial films (n3D: 1E17-1E21 /cm3) and the gate voltage (Vg) dependence of S for thin film transistors (TFTs) based on TiO2 films were investigated to clarify the electronic density of states (DOS) around the conduction band bottom. The slope of the |S|-log n3D plots was -20 μV/K, which is an order magnitude smaller than that of semiconductors (-198 μV/K), and t… ▽ More

Rattling-Induced Superconductiviy in the Beta-Pyrochlore Oxides AOs2O6
Abstract: The superconducting properties of two beta-pyrochlore oxides, CsOs2O6 and RbOs2O6, are studied by thermodynamic and transport measurements using high-quality single crystals. It is shown that the character of superconductivity changes systematically from weak coupling for CsOs2O6 to moderately strong coupling for RbOs2O6, and finally to extremely strong coupling with BCS-type superconductivity f… ▽ More

Vortex Redistribution below the First-Order Transition Temperature in the β-Pyrochlore Superconductor KOs_2O_6
Abstract: A miniature Hall sensor array was used to detect magnetic induction locally in the vortex states of the $β$-pyrochlore superconductor KOs$_2$O$_6$. Below the first-order transition at $T_{\rm p}\sim 8$ K, which is associated with a change in the rattling motion of K ions, the lower critical field and the remanent magnetization both show a distinct decrease, suggesting that the electron-phonon co… ▽ More

Neutron Scattering Study of the Localized Mode in the beta-Pyrochlore Superconductors AOs2O6
Abstract: Inelastic neutron scattering and neutron powder diffraction experiments were carried out to investigate a localized mode, proposed from various bulk measurements, in the beta-pyrochlore AOs2O6 (A=K, Rb, Cs). The localized mode was identified in all the three compounds as well as another beta-pyrochlore CsW2O6. The anharmonicity of the mode is weak in RbOs2O6 and CsOs2O6 but substantial in KOs2O6… ▽ More

Effects of Rattling Phonons on the Quasiparticle Excitation and Dynamics in the Superconducting $β$-Pyrochlore KOs$_2$O$_6$
Abstract: Microwave penetration depth $λ$ and surface resistance at 27 GHz are measured in high quality crystals of KOs$_2$O$_6$. Firm evidence for fully-gapped superconductivity is provided from $λ(T)$. Below the second transition at $T_{\rm p}\sim 8$ K, the superfluid density shows a step-like change with a suppression of effective critical temperature $T_{\rm c}$. Concurrently, the extracted quasiparti… ▽ More

Extremely strong-coupling superconductivity and anomalous lattice properties in the beta-pyrochlore oxide KOs2O6
Abstract: Superconducting and normal-state properties of the beta-pyrochlore oxide KOs2O6 are studied by means of thermodynamic and transport measurements. It is shown that the superconductivity is of conventional s-wave type and lies in the extremely strong-coupling regime. Specific heat and resistivity measurements reveal that there are characteristic low-energy phonons that give rise to unusual scatter… ▽ More

Photoemission study of TiO2/VO2 interfaces
Abstract: We have measured photoemission spectra of two kinds of TiO$_2$-capped VO$_2$ thin films, namely, that with rutile-type TiO$_2$ (r-TiO$_2$/VO$_2$) and that with amorphous TiO$_2$ (a-TiO$_2$/VO$_2$) cap** layers. Below the Metal-insulator transition temperature of the VO$_2$ thin films, $\sim 300$ K, metallic states were not observed for the interfaces with TiO$_2$, in contrast with the interfac… ▽ More

In-situ epitaxial growth of superconducting La-based bilayer cuprate thin films
Abstract: We investigate the epitaxial growth of bilayer cuprate La2CaCu2O6+δusing pure ozone as an oxidant, and find that even the crystal with parent composition without cation substitution can show metallic behavior with the aid of epitaxial strain effect. The hole concentration is controlled simply by excess-oxygen do**, and the films grown under the optimum conditions exhibit superconductivity belo… ▽ More
