Kagome metal CsV$_3$Sb$_5$ has attracted much recent attention due to the coexistence of multiple exotic orders and the associated proposals to mimic unconventional high temperature superconductors. Nevertheless, magnetism and strong electronic correlations -- two essential ingredients for unconventional superconductivity, are absent in this V-based Kagome metal. CsCr$_3$Sb$_5$ is a newly discovered Cr-based parallel of CsV$_3$Sb$_5$, in which magnetism appears with charge density wave and superconductivity at different temperature and pressure regions. Enhanced electronic correlations are also suggested by theoretical proposals due to the calculated flat bands. Here, we report angle-resolved photoemission measurements and first-principles calculations on this new material system. Electron energy bands and the associated orbitals are resolved. Flat bands are observed near the Fermi level. Do** dependent measurements on Cs(Cr$_x$V$_{1-x}$)$_3$Sb$_5$ reveal a gradually enhanced band renormalization from CsV$_3$Sb$_5$ to CsCr$_3$Sb$_5$, accompanied by distinct spatial symmetry breaking states in the phase diagram.

We discover a family of local deformations that leave part of the spectrum intact for strongly interacting and exactly solvable quantum many-body systems. Since the deformation preserves the Bethe Ansatz equations (BAE), it is dubbed as the iso-BAE flow. Although all theories on the flow share the same BAE, the spectra are different. Part of the spectrum remains intact along the whole flow. Such states are protected by an emergent symmetry. The rest of the spectrum change continuously along the flow and are doubly degenerate for even length spin chains. For odd length chains, the deformed spectrum also comprises doubly degenerate pairs apart from the sector with magnon number $(L+1)/2$, where $L$ is the length of the spin chain. We discuss the iso-BAE flow for ${\rm XXX}_{1/2}$ model in detail and show that the iso-BAE flows exist for more general models including $q$-deformed XXZ as well as higher spin ${\rm XXX}_{s}$ spin chains.

Kagome superconductors AV$_3$Sb$_5$ (A = K, Rb and Cs) have attracted much recent attention due to the coexistence of multiple exotic orders. Among them, the charge density wave (CDW) order has been shown to host various unconventional behaviors. Here, we investigate the CDW order by a combination of both bulk and surface do** methods. While element substitutions in bulk do** change both carriers and the crystal lattice, the surface do** primarily tunes the carrier concentration. As such, our results reveal a two-dimensional phase diagram of the CDW in doped CsV$_3$Sb$_5$. In the lightly bulk doped regime, the existence of CDW order is reversible by tuning the carrier concentration. But excessive bulk do** permanently destroys the CDW, regardless of the carrier do** level. These results provide insights to the origin of the CDW from both electronic and structural degrees of freedom. They also open an avenue for manipulating the exotic CDW order in Kagome superconductors.

Nickel titanium (NiTi) is a protypical shape-memory alloy used in a range of biomedical and engineering devices, but direct molecular dynamics simulations of the martensitic B19' -> B2 phase transition driving its shape-memory behavior are rare and have relied on classical force fields with limited accuracy. Here, we train four machine-learned force fields for equiatomic NiTi based on the LDA, PBE, PBEsol, and SCAN DFT functionals. The models are trained on the fly during NPT molecular dynamics, with DFT calculations and model updates performed automatically whenever the uncertainty of a local energy prediction exceeds a chosen threshold. The models achieve accuracies of 1-2 meV/atom during training and are shown to closely track DFT predictions of B2 and B19' elastic constants and phonon frequencies. Surprisingly, in large-scale molecular dynamics simulations, only the SCAN model predicts a reversible B19' -> B2 phase transition, with the LDA, PBE, and PBEsol models predicting a reversible transition to a previously uncharacterized low-volume phase, which we hypothesize to be a new stable high-pressure phase. We examine the structure of the new phase and estimate its stability on the temperature-pressure phase diagram. This work establishes an automated active learning protocol for studying displacive transformations, reveals important differences between DFT functionals that can only be detected in large-scale simulations, provides an accurate force field for NiTi, and identifies a new phase.

A theory of anisotropic magnetoresistance (AMR) and planar Hall effect (PHE) in single cubic crystals and its experimental verifications are presented for the current in the (001) plane. In contrast to the general belief that AMR and PHE in single crystals are highly sensitive to many internal and external effects and have no universal features, the theory predicts universal angular dependencies of longitudinal and transverse resistivity and various characteristics when magnetization rotates in the (001) plane, the plane perpendicular to the current, and the plane containing the current and [001] direction. The universal angular dependencies are verified by the experiments on Fe30Co70 single cubic crystal film. The findings provide new avenues for fundamental research and applications of AMR and PHE, because single crystals offer advantages over polycrystalline materials for band structure and crystallographic orientation engineering.

In this work, we develop the rational $Q$-system for this case, which offers a systematic way to find all physical solutions of the Bethe ansatz equations at root of unity. The construction contains two parts. In the first part, we impose additional constraints to the rational $Q$-system. These constraints eliminate the so-called Fabricius-McCoy (FM) string solutions, yielding all primitive solutions. In the second part, we give a simple procedure to construct the descendant tower of any given primitive state. The primitive solutions together with their descendant towers constitute the complete Hilbert space. We test our proposal by extensive numerical checks and apply it to compute the torus partition function of the 6-vertex model at root of unity.

Van Hove singularity (VHS) has been considered as a driving source for unconventional superconductivity. A VHS in two-dimensional (2D) materials consists of a saddle point connecting electron-like and hole-like bands. In a rare case, when a VHS appears at Fermi level, both electron-like and hole-like conduction can coexist, giving rise to an enhanced density of states as well as an attractive component of Coulomb interaction for unconventional electronic pairing. However, this van Hove scenario is often destroyed by an incorrect chemical potential or competing instabilities. Here, by using angle-resolved photoemission measurements, we report the observation of a VHS perfectly aligned with the Fermi level in a kagome superconductor CsV$_{3-x}$Ta$_x$Sb$_5$ (x~0.4), in which a record-high superconducting transition temperature is achieved among all the current variants of AV$_3$Sb$_5$ (A=Cs, Rb, K) at ambient pressure. We introduce and study several classes of quantum spin models with multi-body interactions that exhibit quantum many-body scars. The models are constructed by two different methods: one exploiting boundary states in integrable spin chains and the other based on a variant of existing methods such as restricted spectrum generating algebras. The first method allows us to construct deformations of the Majumdar-Ghosh and Affleck-Kennedy-Lieb-Tasaki models -- prototypes of frustration-free systems. With the second method, we construct a large class of spin-$1$ models involving scalar spin chirality in both one and two dimensions. Interestingly, in some cases, the models so constructed have towers of scar states of different character. For each example, we show that the scar states behave differently from thermal states by comparing their spectral and dynamical properties with those of other states. We also show that a superposition of the scar states constructed by the second method exhibits perfectly periodic revivals in the dynamics.

The star-triangle relation plays an important role in the realm of exactly solvable models, offering exact results for classical two-dimensional statistical mechanical models. In this article, we construct integrable quantum circuits using the star-triangle relation. Our construction relies on families of mutually commuting two-parameter transfer matrices for statistical mechanical models solved by the star-triangle relation, and differs from previously known constructions based on Yang-Baxter integrable vertex models. At special value of the spectral parameter, the transfer matrices are mapped into integrable quantum circuits, for which infinite families of local conserved charges can be derived. We demonstrate the construction by giving two examples of circuits acting on a chain of $Q-$state qudits: $Q$-state Potts circuits, whose integrability has been conjectured recently by Lotkov et al., and $\mathbb{Z}_Q$ circuits, which are novel to our knowledge. In the first example, we present for $Q=3$ a connection to the Zamolodchikov-Fateev 19-vertex model.

Quantum integrability has proven to be a useful tool to study quantum many-body systems out of equilibrium. In this paper we construct a generic framework for integrable quantum circuits through the procedure of Floquet Baxterisation. The integrability is guaranteed by establishing a connection between Floquet evolution operators and inhomogeneous transfer matrices obtained from the Yang-Baxter relations. This allows us to construct integrable Floquet evolution operators with arbitrary depths and various boundary conditions. Furthermore, we focus on the example related to the staggered 6-vertex model. In the scaling limit we establish a connection of this Floquet protocol with a non-rational conformal field theory. Employing the properties of the underlying affine Temperley--Lieb algebraic structure, we demonstrate the dynamical anti-unitary symmetry breaking in the easy-plane regime. We also give an overview of integrability-related quantum circuits, highlighting future research directions.

Starting from the generalised Clifford algebra, we demonstrate its relations to the graph Temperley-Lieb algebra, and a generalisation of the Onsager algebra. We present a series of quantum lattice models as representations of the generalised Clifford algebra, possessing the structure of a special type of the generalised Onsager algebra. The integrability of those models is presented, analogous to the free fermionic eight-vertex model. We also mention further extensions of the models and physical properties related to the generalised Onsager algebras, hinting at a general framework that includes families of quantum lattice models possessing the structure of the generalised Onsager algebras.

In superconductors, electrons with spin ${s=1/2}$ form Cooper pairs whose spin structure is usually singlet (${S=0}$) or triplet (${S=1}$). When the electronic structure near the Fermi level is characterized by fermions with angular momentum ${j=3/2}$ due to strong spin-orbit interactions, novel pairing states such as even-parity quintet (${J=2}$) and odd-parity septet (${J=3}$) states become allowed. Prime candidates for such exotic states are half-Heusler superconductors, which exhibit unconventional superconducting properties, but their pairing nature remains unsettled. Here we show that the superconductivity in the noncentrosymmetric half-Heusler LuPdBi can be consistently described by the admixture of isotropic even-parity singlet and anisotropic odd-parity septet pairing, whose ratio can be tuned by electron irradiation. From magnetotransport and penetration depth measurements, we find that carrier concentrations and impurity scattering both increase with irradiation, resulting in a nonmonotonic change of the superconducting gap structure. Our findings shed new light on our fundamental understanding of unconventional superconducting states in topological materials.

The new two-dimensional (2D) kagome superconductor CsV$_3$Sb$_5$ has attracted much recent attention due to the coexistence of superconductivity, charge order, topology and kagome physics. A key issue in this field is to unveil the unique reconstructed electronic structure, which successfully accommodates different orders and interactions to form a fertile ground for emergent phenomena. Here, we report angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES) evidence for two distinct band reconstructions in CsV$_3$Sb$_5$. The first one is characterized by the appearance of new electron energy band at low temperature. The new band is theoretically reproduced when the three dimensionality of the charge order is considered for a band-folding along the out-of-plane direction. The second reconstruction is identified as a surface induced orbital-selective shift of the electron energy band. Our results provide the first evidence for the three dimensionality of the charge order in single-particle spectral function, highlighting the importance of long-range out-of-plane electronic correlations in this layered kagome superconductor. They also point to the feasibility of orbital-selective control of the band structure via surface modification, which would open a new avenue for manipulating exotic phenomena in this system, including superconductivity.

Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), which are self-assemblies of metal ions and organic ligands, provide a tunable platform to search a new state of matter. A two-dimensional (2D) perfect kagome lattice, whose geometrical frustration is a key to realizing quantum spin liquids, has been formed in the $π$-${d}$ conjugated 2D MOF [Cu$_{3}$(C$_{6}$S$_{6}$)]$_{n}$ (Cu-BHT). The recent discovery of its superconductivity with a critical temperature $T_{\rm c}$ of 0.25\,kelvin raises fundamental questions about the nature of electron pairing. Here, we show that Cu-BHT is a strongly correlated unconventional superconductor with extremely low superfluid density. A nonexponential temperature dependence of superfluid density is observed, indicating the possible presence of superconducting gap nodes. The magnitude of superfluid density is much smaller than those in conventional superconductors, and follows the Uemura's relation of strongly correlated superconductors. These results imply that the unconventional superconductivity in Cu-BHT originates from electron correlations related to spin fluctuations of kagome lattice.

In this paper, we have designed and employed a suspended-wall silo to remove Janssen effect in order to explore directly the local pressure dependence of Granular Orifice Flow (GOF) systematically. We find that as Janssen effect is removed, the flow rate Q changes linearly with the external pressure. The slope α of the linear change decays exponentially with the ratio of the silo size and the size of the orifice Φ/D, which suggests the existence of a characteristic ratio λ (~2.4). When Φ/D > λ, α gradually decays to zero, and the effect of external pressure on the GOF becomes negligible, where the Beverloo law retrieves. Our results show that Janssen effect is not a determining factor of the constant rate of GOF, although it may contribute to shield the top load. The key parameter in GOF is Φ/D. In small Φ/D, the flow rate of GOF can be directly adjusted by the external pressure via our suspended-wall setup, which may be useful to the transportation of granules in microgravity environment where the gravity-driven Beverloo law is disabled.

The spin-1/2 Heisenberg XXZ chain is a paradigmatic quantum integrable model. Although it can be solved exactly via Bethe ansatz techniques, there are still open issues regarding the spectrum at root of unity values of the anisotropy. We construct Baxter's Q operator at arbitrary anisotropy from a two-parameter transfer matrix associated to a complex-spin auxiliary space. A decomposition of this transfer matrix provides a simple proof of the transfer matrix fusion and Wronskian relations. At root of unity a truncation allows us to construct the Q operator explicitly in terms of finite-dimensional matrices. From its decomposition we derive truncated fusion and Wronskian relations as well as an interpolation-type formula that has been conjectured previously. We elucidate the Fabricius-McCoy (FM) strings and exponential degeneracies in the spectrum of the six-vertex transfer matrix at root of unity. Using a semicyclic auxiliary representation we give a conjecture for creation and annihilation operators of FM strings for all roots of unity. We connect our findings with the 'string-charge duality' in the thermodynamic limit, leading to a conjecture for the imaginary part of the FM string centres with potential applications to out-of-equilibrium physics.

Using the algebro-geometric approach, we study the structure of semi-classical eigenstates in a weakly-anisotropic quantum Heisenberg spin chain. We outline how classical nonlinear spin waves governed by the anisotropic Landau-Lifshitz equation arise as coherent macroscopic low-energy fluctuations of the ferromagnetic ground state. Special emphasis is devoted to the simplest types of solutions, describing precessional motion and elliptic magnetisation waves. The internal magnon structure of classical spin waves is resolved by performing the semi-classical quantisation using the Riemann-Hilbert problem approach. We present an expression for the overlap of two semi-classical eigenstates and discuss how correlation functions at the semi-classical level arise from classical phase-space averaging.

We investigate the dynamics of spin in the axially anisotropic Landau--Lifshitz field theory with a magnetic domain wall initial condition. Employing the analytic scattering technique, we obtain the exact scattering data and reconstruct the time-evolved profile. We identify three qualitatively distinct regimes of spin transport, ranging from ballistic expansion in the easy-plane regime, absence of transport in the easy-axis regime and log-modified diffusion for the isotropic interaction. Our results are in perfect qualitative agreement with those found in the anisotropic quantum Heisenberg spin-$1/2$ chain, indicating a remarkable classical-quantum correspondence for macroscopic spin transport.

We study relaxation dynamics in one-dimensional Bose gases, formulated as an initial value problem for the classical non-linear Schrödinger equation. We propose an analytic technique which takes into account the exact spectrum of non-linear modes, that is both soliton excitations and dispersive continuum of radiation modes. Our method relies on the exact large-time asymptotics and uses the so-called dressing transformation to account for the solitons. The obtained results are quantitatively compared with the predictions of the linearized approach in the framework of the Bogoliubov--de Gennes theory. In the attractive regime, the interplay between solitons and radiation yields a damped oscillatory motion of the profile which resembles breathing. For the repulsive interaction, the solitons are confined in the sound cone region separated from the supersonic radiation.

Recently, the superconductivity in a metal-organic framework (MOF) has been discovered for the first time in copper(II) benzenehexathiolate ([Cu$_3$(C$_6$S$_6$)]$_n$, Cu-BHT). The Cu atoms form a two-dimensional perfect Kagome lattice, which has the potential to host a metallic quantum spin liquid state. Here we present high-precision measurements of in-plane magnetic penetration depth $λ$ in Cu-BHT films down to 40\,mK. The temperature dependence of $λ$ shows a non-exponential, quasi-linear behavior at low temperatures, suggesting that unconventional superconductivity with low-energy quasiparticle excitations is realized in this system. With the reported non-Fermi liquid behavior, this finding implies that MOFs can provide a flexible platform to investigate the superconducting pairing mechanisms in the presence of spin frustration and strong quantum fluctuations.

The recent discovery of superconductivity in NaSn$_2$As$_2$ with a van der Waals layered structure raises immediate questions on its pairing mechanism and underlying electronic structure. Here, we present measurements of the temperature-dependent magnetic penetration depth $λ(T)$ in single crystals of NaSn$_2$As$_2$ down to $\sim40$ mK. We find a very long penetration depth $λ(0) = 960$ nm, which is strongly enhanced from the estimate of first-principles calculations. This enhancement comes from a short mean free path $\ell \approx 1.7$ nm, indicating atomic scale disorder possibly associated with the valence-skip** states of Sn. The temperature dependence of superfluid density is fully consistent with the conventional fully gapped s-wave state in the dirty limit. These results suggest that NaSn$_2$As$_2$ is an ideal material to study quantum phase fluctuations in strongly disordered superconductors with its controllable dimensionality.

Based on the Bogoliubov non-ideal gas model, we discuss the energy spectrum and phase transition of the superfluid Fermi gas of atoms with a weak attractive interaction on the canonical noncommutative space. Because the interaction of a BCS-type superfluid Fermi gas originates from a pair of Fermionic quasi-particles with opposite momenta and spins, the Hamiltonian of the Fermi gas on the noncommutative space can be described in terms of the ordinary creation and annihilation operators related to the commutative space, while the noncommutative effect appears only in the coefficients of the interacting Hamiltonian. As a result, we can rigorously solve the energy spectrum of the Fermi gas on the noncommutative space exactly following the way adopted on the commutative space without the use of perturbation theory. In particular, different from the previous results on the noncommutative degenerate electron gas and superconductor where only the first order corrections of the ground state energy level and energy gap were derived, we obtain the nonperturbative energy spectrum for the noncommutative superfluid Fermi gas, and find that each energy level contains a corrected factor of cosine function of noncommutative parameters. In addition, our result shows that the energy gap becomes narrow and the critical temperature of phase transition from a superfluid state to an ordinary fluid state decreases when compared with that in the commutative case.

The kinetics of the self-assembly of nanocomponents into a virus, nanocapsule, or other composite structure is analyzed via a multiscale approach. The objective is to achieve predictability and to preserve key atomic-scale features that underlie the formation and stability of the composite structures. We start with an all-atom description, the Liouville equation, and the order parameters characterizing nanoscale features of the system. An equation of Smoluchowski type for the stochastic dynamics of the order parameters is derived from the Liouville equation via a multiscale perturbation technique. The self-assembly of composite structures from nanocomponents with internal atomic structure is analyzed and growth rates are derived. Applications include the assembly of a viral capsid from capsomers, a ribosome from its major subunits, and composite materials from fibers and nanoparticles. Our approach overcomes errors in other coarse-graining methods which neglect the influence of the nanoscale configuration on the atomistic fluctuations. We account for the effect of order parameters on the statistics of the atomistic fluctuations which contribute to the entropic and average forces driving order parameter evolution. This approach enables an efficient algorithm for computer simulation of self-assembly, whereas other methods severely limit the timestep due to the separation of diffusional and complexing characteristic times. Given that our approach does not require recalibration with each new application, it provides a way to estimate assembly rates and thereby facilitate the discovery of self-assembly pathways and kinetic dead-end structures.

An approach for simulating bionanosystems, such as viruses and ribosomes, is presented. This calibration-free approach is based on an all-atom description for bionanosystems, a universal interatomic force field, and a multiscale perspective. The supramillion-atom nature of these bionanosystems prohibits the use of a direct molecular dynamics approach for phenomena like viral structural transitions or self-assembly that develop over milliseconds or longer. A key element of these multiscale systems is the cross-talk between, and consequent strong coupling of, processes over many scales in space and time. We elucidate the role of interscale cross-talk and overcome bionanosystem simulation difficulties with automated construction of order parameters (OPs) describing supra-nanometer scale structural features, construction of OP dependent ensembles describing the statistical properties of atomistic variables that ultimately contribute to the entropies driving the dynamics of the OPs, and the derivation of a rigorous equation for the stochastic dynamics of the OPs. Since the atomic scale features of the system are treated statistically, several ensembles are constructed that reflect various experimental conditions. The theory provides a basis for a practical, quantitative bionanosystem modeling approach that preserves the cross-talk between the atomic and nanoscale features. A method for integrating information from nanotechnical experimental data in the derivation of equations of stochastic OP dynamics is also introduced.
