Kondo scattering in underdoped Nd1-xSrxNiO2 infinite-layer superconducting thin films
Abstract: The recent discovery of superconductivity in infinite-layer nickelates generates tremendous research endeavors, but the ground state of their parent compounds is still under debate. Here, we report experimental evidences for the dominant role of Kondo scattering in the underdoped Nd1-xSrxNiO2 thin films. A resistivity minimum associated with logarithmic temperature dependence in both longitudinal… ▽ More

Pump-probe nuclear spin relaxation study of the quantum Hall ferromagnet at filling factor nu = 2
Abstract: The nuclear spin-lattice relaxation time T1 of the nu = 2 quantum Hall ferromagnet (QHF) formed in a gate-controlled InSb two-dimensional electron gas has been characterized using a pump-probe technique. In contrast to a long T1 of quantum Hall states around nu = 1 that possesses a Korringa-type temperature dependence, the temperature-independent short T1 of the nu = 2 QHF suggests the presence of… ▽ More

Spatial-resolved X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy of Weyl semimetal NbAs
Abstract: We utilized X-ray photoemission electron microscopy (XPEEM) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) to investigate the crystal surface of Weyl semimetal NbAs. XPEEM images present white and black contrast in both the Nb 3d and As 3d core level spectra. Surface-sensitive XPS spectra indicate that the entire surface of the sample contains both surface states of Nb 3d and As 3d, in form of oxides,… ▽ More

Role of chiral quantum Hall edge states in nuclear spin polarization
Abstract: Resistively detected NMR (RDNMR) based on dynamic nuclear polarization (DNP) in a quantum Hall ferromagnet (QHF) is a highly-sensitive method for the discovery of fascinating quantum Hall phases; however, the mechanism of this DNP and in particular the role of quantum Hall edge states in it are unclear. Here we demonstrate the important but previously unrecognized effect of chiral edge modes on th… ▽ More

Comparative Raman study of Weyl semimetals TaAs, NbAs, TaP and NbP
Abstract: We report a comparative polarized Raman study of Weyl semimetals TaAs, NbAs, TaP and NbP. The evolution of the phonon frequencies with the sample composition allows us to determine experimentally which atoms are mainly involved for each vibration mode. Our results confirm previous first-principles calculations indicating that the A$_1$, B$_1(2)$, E$(2)$ and E$(3)$ modes involve mainly the As(P) at… ▽ More

Raman study of lattice dynamics in Weyl semimetal TaAs
Abstract: We report a polarized Raman study of Weyl semimetal TaAs. We observe all the optical phonons, with energies and symmetries consistent with our first-principles calculations. We detect additional excitations assigned to multiple-phonon excitations. These excitations are accompanied by broad peaks separated by 140~cm$^{-1}$ that are also most likely associated with multiple-phonon excitations. We al… ▽ More

Observation of Raman active phonon with Fano lineshape in quasi-one-dimensional superconductor K$_2$Cr$_3$As$_3$
Abstract: We performed a polarized Raman scattering study of quasi-one-dimensional superconductor K$_2$Cr$_3$As$_3$. We detect two A$_1^\prime$ phonons and three E$^\prime$ phonons. One of the A$_1^\prime$ modes exhibits a nearly temperature-independent Fano lineshape. Based on our first-principles calculations, we ascribe this mode to the in-phase vibrations of Cr atoms within one layer. This observation s… ▽ More

Camelback-shaped band reconciles heavy electron behavior with weak electronic Coulomb correlations in superconducting TlNi2Se2
Abstract: Using high-resolution photoemission spectroscopy and first-principles calculations, we characterize superconducting TlNi$_2$Se$_2$ as a material with weak electronic Coulomb correlations leading to a bandwidth renormalization of 1.4. We identify a camelback-shaped band, whose energetic position strongly depends on the selenium height. While this feature is universal in transition metal pnictides,… ▽ More

Inelastic electron tunneling spectroscopy of nanoporous gold films
Abstract: We investigated the localized electronic properties of nanoporous gold films by using an ultra-high vacuum scanning tunneling microscope at low temperature (4.2 K). Second derivative scanning tunneling spectroscopy shows the plasmon peaks of the nanoporous gold films, which are excited by inelastic tunneling electrons. We propose that the nanorod model is appropriate for nanoporous gold studies at… ▽ More

On the roles of graphene oxide do** for enhanced supercurrent in MgB2 based superconductors
Abstract: Due to their graphene-like properties after oxygen reduction, incorporation of graphene oxide (GO) sheets into correlated-electron materials offers a new pathway for tailoring their properties. Fabricating GO nanocomposites with polycrystalline MgB2 superconductors leads to an order of magnitude enhancement of the supercurrent at 5 K/8 T and 20 K/4 T. Herein, we introduce a novel experimental appr… ▽ More

Gate depletion of an InSb two-dimensional electron gas
Abstract: We investigated the gate control of a two-dimensional electron gas (2DEG) confined to InSb quantum wells with an Al2O3 gate dielectric formed by atomic layer deposition on a surface layer of Al0.1In0.9Sb or InSb. The wider bandgap of Al0.1In0.9Sb compared to InSb resulted in a linear, sharp, and non-hysteretic response of the 2DEG density to gate bias in the structure with an Al0.1In0.9Sb surface… ▽ More

Characterization of InSb quantum wells with atomic layer deposited gate dielectrics
Abstract: We report magnetotransport measurements of a gated InSb quantum well (QW) with high quality Al2O3 dielectrics (40 nm thick) grown by atomic layer deposition. A good interface between Al2O3 and the top InSb layer ensures that the parallel channel is depleted at negative Vg and the density o… ▽ More

Observation of momentum space semi-localization in Si-doped $β$-Ga$_2$O$_3$
Abstract: We performed an angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy study of Si-doped $β$-Ga$_2$O$_3$. We observed very small photoemission intensity near the Fermi level corresponding to non-dispersive states assigned to Si impurities. We show evidence for a quantization of these states that is accompanied by a confinement in the momentum space consistent with a real-space finite confinement observed in a… ▽ More

Nonlinear magnetic field dependence of spin polarization in high density two-dimensional electron systems
Abstract: The spin polarization (P) of high-density InSb two-dimensional electron systems (2DESs) has been measured using both parallel and tilted magnetic fields. P is found to exhibit a superlinear increase with the total field B. This P-B nonlinearity results in a difference in spin susceptibility between its real value Xs and Xgm ~ m*g*(m* and g* are the effective mass and g factor, respectively) as rou… ▽ More

Pauli-Spin-Blockade Transport through a Silicon Double Quantum Dot

Pauli spin blockade in cotunneling transport through a double quantum dot
Abstract: We study spin correlation in a double quantum dot containing a few electrons in each dot (around 10). Clear current rectification with negative differential conductance is observed in the cotunneling regime, which is well explained by a Pauli spin blockade. The current feature is discussed in connection with exchange singlet-triplet splitting based on two simple models, one of which takes cohere… ▽ More
