Here we present the growth and characterization of single crystals of the ${\text{La}_{5}\text{(Co}_{1-x}\text {Ni}_{x})_2\text {Ge}_{3}}$ series for 0.00 $\leq x \leq$ 0.186. We measured powder X-ray diffraction, composition as well as anisotropic temperature dependent resistivity, temperature and field dependent magnetization along with heat capacity on these single crystals. We also measured muon-spin rotation/relaxation ($μ\text{SR}$) for some Ni substitutions ($x$ = 0.027, 0.036, 0.074) to study the evolution of internal field with Ni substitution. Using the measured data we infer a low temperature, transition temperature-composition phase diagram for ${\text{La}_{5}\text{(Co}_{1-x}\text {Ni}_{x})_2\text {Ge}_{3}}$. We find that $T_{C}$ is suppressed for low do**s, $x \leq 0.014 $; whereas for $0.036 \leq {x} \leq 0.186 $, the samples are antiferromagnetic with a Neel temperature, $T_{N}$, that goes through a weak and shallow maximum ($T_N \sim$ 3.4 K for $ x \sim$ 0.07) and then gradually decreases to 2.4 K by $x$ = 0.186. For intermediate Ni substitutions, $0.016 \leq {x} \leq 0.027 $, two transition temperatures are inferred with $T_N > T_C$. Whereas the $T-x$ phase diagram for ${\text{La}_{5}\text{(Co}_{1-x}\text {Ni}_{x})_2\text {Ge}_{3}}$ and the $T-p$ phase diagram determined for the parent $\text{La}_{5}\text{Co}_{2}\text{Ge}_{3}$ under hydrostatic pressure are grossly similar, changing from a low do** or low pressure ferromagnetic (FM) ground state to a high doped or pressure antiferromagnetic (AFM) state, perturbation by Ni substitution enabled us to identify an intermediate do** regime where both FM and AFM transitions occur.

The kagome lattice has emerged as a promising platform for hosting unconventional chiral charge order at high temperatures. Notably, in LaRu$_{3}$Si$_{2}$, a room-temperature charge-ordered state with a propagation vector of ($\frac{1}{4}$,~0,~0) has been recently identified. However, understanding the interplay between this charge order and superconductivity, particularly with respect to time-reversal-symmetry breaking, remains elusive. In this study, we employ single crystal X-ray diffraction, magnetotransport, and muon-spin rotation experiments to investigate the charge order and its electronic and magnetic responses in LaRu$_{3}$Si$_{2}$ across a wide temperature range down to the superconducting state. Our findings reveal the emergence of a charge order with a propagation vector of ($\frac{1}{6}$,~0,~0) below $T_{\rm CO,2}$ ${\simeq}$ 80 K, coexisting with the previously identified room-temperature primary charge order ($\frac{1}{4}$,~0,~0). The primary charge-ordered state exhibits zero magnetoresistance. In contrast, the appearance of the secondary charge order at $T_{\rm CO,2}$ is accompanied by a notable magnetoresistance response and a pronounced temperature-dependent Hall effect, which experiences a sign reversal, switching from positive to negative below $T^{*}$ ${\simeq}$ 35 K. Intriguingly, we observe an enhancement in the internal field width sensed by the muon ensemble below $T^{*}$ ${\simeq}$ 35 K. Moreover, the muon spin relaxation rate exhibits a substantial increase upon the application of an external magnetic field below $T_{\rm CO,2}$ ${\simeq}$ 80 K. Our results highlight the coexistence of two distinct types of charge order in LaRu$_{3}$Si$_{2}$ within the correlated kagome lattice, namely a non-magnetic charge order ($\frac{1}{4}$,~0,~0) below $T_{\rm co,1}$ ${\simeq}$ 400 K and a time-reversal-symmetry-breaking charge order below $T_{\rm CO,2}$.

The breaking of time-reversal symmetry (TRS) in the normal state of kagome superconductors $A$V$_{3}$Sb$_{5}$ stands out as a significant feature. Yet the extent to which this effect can be tuned remains uncertain, a crucial aspect to grasp in light of the varying details of TRS breaking observed through different techniques. Here, we employ the unique low-energy muon spin rotation technique combined with local field numerical analysis to study the TRS breaking response as a function of depth from the surface in single crystals of RbV$_{3}$Sb$_{5}$ with charge order and Cs(V$_{0.86}$Ta$_{0.14}$)$_{3}$Sb$_{5}$ without charge order. In the bulk (i.e., > 33 nm from the surface) of RbV$_{3}$Sb$_{5}$, we have detected a notable increase in the internal magnetic field width experienced by the muon ensemble. This increase occurs only within the charge ordered state. Intriguingly, the muon spin relaxation rate is significantly enhanced near the surface (i.e., < 33 nm from the surface) of RbV$_{3}$Sb$_{5}$, and this effect commences at temperatures significantly higher than the onset of charge order. Conversely, in Cs(V$_{0.86}$Ta$_{0.14}$)$_{3}$Sb$_{5}$, we do not observe a similar enhancement in the internal field width, neither in the bulk nor near the surface. These observations indicate a strong connection between charge order and TRS breaking on one hand, and on the other hand, suggest that TRS breaking can occur prior to long-range charge order. This research offers compelling evidence for depth-dependent magnetism in $A$V$_{3}$Sb$_{5}$ superconductors in the presence of charge order. Such findings are likely to elucidate the intricate microscopic mechanisms that underpin the TRS breaking phenomena in these materials.

The unveiling of superconductivity in La$_3$Ni$_2$O$_{7-δ}$ under pressure, following the suppression of a high-temperature density wave (DW) state, has attracted considerable attention. Notably, the nature of this competing DW order remains elusive, presenting a crucial question that demands further investigation. Here, we employ the muon-spin rotation/relaxation ($μ$SR) technique combined with dipole-field numerical analysis to probe the magnetic response of La$_3$Ni$_2$O$_{7-δ}$ as a function of hydrostatic pressure. At ambient pressure, $μ$SR experiments reveal commensurate static magnetic order below $T_{\rm N} \simeq 151$K. The comparison of the observed internal magnetic fields with dipole-field calculations reveals the magnetic structure's compatibility with a stripe-type arrangement of Ni moments ($\simeq0.3-0.7$$μ_{\rm B}$), characterized by alternating lines of magnetic moments and non-magnetic stripes. Experiments under pressure (up to $p\simeq2.3$~GPa) demonstrate an increase of the magnetic ordering temperature at a rate ${\rm d}T_{\rm N}/{\rm d}p\simeq 2.8$ K/GPa. This trend is opposite in sign and significantly smaller in magnitude compared to the changes observed in the DW order of unknown origin reported by Wang et al. [arXiv:2309.17378]. Our findings reveal that the ground state of the La$_3$Ni$_2$O$_{7-δ}$ system is characterized by the coexistence of two distinct orders -- the spin density wave and, most likely, charge density wave -- with a notable pressure-induced separation between them.

Vacancies play a crucial role in solid-state physics, but their impact on materials with strong electron-electron correlations has been underexplored. A recent study on the Ir-Sb binary system, Ir$_{16}$Sb$_{18}$ revealed a novel extended buckled-honeycomb vacancy (BHV) order. Superconductivity is induced by suppressing the BHV ordering through high-pressure growth with excess Ir atoms or isovalent Rh substitution, although the nature of superconducting pairing has remained unexplored. Here, we conduct muon spin rotation experiments probing the temperature-dependence of the effective magnetic penetration depth $λ_{eff}\left(T\right)$ in Ir$_{1-δ}$Sb (synthesized at 5.5 GPa with $T_{\rm c}$ = 4.2 K) and ambient pressure synthesized optimally Rh-doped Ir$_{1-x}$Rh$_{x}$Sb ($x$=0.3, $T_{\rm c}$ = 2.7 K). The exponential temperature dependence of the superfluid density $n_{\rm s}$/m$^{*}$ at low temperatures indicates a fully gapped superconducting state in both samples. Notably, the ratio of $T_{\rm c}$ to the superfluid density is comparable to previously measured unconventional superconductors. A significant increase in $n_{\rm s}$/m$^{*}$ in the high-pressure synthesized sample correlates with $T_{\rm c}$, a hallmark feature of unconventional superconductivity. We further demonstrate a similar effect induced by chemical pressure (Rh substitution) and hydrostatic pressure in Ir$_{1-x}$Rh$_{x}$Sb, highlighting that the dome-shaped phase diagram is a fundamental feature of the material. These findings underscore the unconventional nature of the observed superconductivity, and classifies IrSb as the first unconventional superconducting parent phase with ordered vacancies.

The kagome lattice is an intriguing and rich platform for discovering, tuning and understanding the diverse phases of quantum matter, which is a necessary premise for utilizing quantum materials in all areas of modern and future electronics in a controlled and optimal way. The system LaRu$_{3}$Si$_{2}$ was shown to exhibit typical kagome band structure features near the Fermi energy formed by the Ru-$dz^{2}$ orbitals and the highest superconducting transition temperature $T_{\rm c}$ ${\simeq}$ 7K among the kagome-lattice materials. However, the effect of electronic correlations on the normal state properties remains elusive. Here, we report the discovery of charge order in La(Ru$_{1-x}$Fe$_{x}$)$_{3}$Si$_{2}$ ($x$ = 0, 0.01, 0.05) beyond room-temperature. Namely, single crystal X-ray diffraction reveals charge order with a propagation vector of ($\frac{1}{4}$,0,0) below $T_{\rm CO-I}$ ${\simeq}$ 400K in all three compounds. At lower temperatures, we see the appearance of a second set of charge order peaks with a propagation vector of ($\frac{1}{6}$,0,0). The introduction of Fe, which is known to quickly suppress superconductivity, does not drastically alter the onset temperature for charge order. Instead, it broadens the scattered intensity such that diffuse scattering appears at the same onset temperature, however does not coalesce into sharp Bragg diffraction peaks until much lower in temperature. Our results present the first example of a charge ordered state at or above room temperature in the correlated kagome lattice with bulk superconductivity.

We report on the effect of magnetic impurities on the microscopic superconducting (SC) properties of the kagome-lattice superconductor La(Ru$_{1-x}$Fe$_{x}$)$_{3}$Si$_{2}$ using muon spin relaxation/rotation. A strong suppression of the superconducting critical temperature $T_{\rm c}$, the SC volume fraction, and the superfluid density was observed. We further find a correlation between the superfluid density and $T_{\rm c}$ which is considered a hallmark feature of unconventional superconductivity. Most remarkably, measurements of the temperature-dependent magnetic penetration depth $λ$ reveal a change in the low-temperature behavior from exponential saturation to a linear increase, which indicates that Fe do** introduces nodes in the superconducting gap structure at concentrations as low as $x=$~0.015. Our results point to a rare example of unconventional superconductivity in the correlated kagome lattice and accessible tunability of the superconducting gap structure, offering new insights into the microscopic mechanisms involved in superconducting order.

We report on measurements of the oxygen isotope ($^{16}$O/$^{18}$O) effect (OIE) on the transition temperature $T_{\rm c}$ and the zero-temperature in-plane magnetic penetration depth $λ_{\rm ab}(0)$ in the stoichiometric cuprate superconductor YBa$_2$Cu$_4$O$_8$ by means of muon-spin rotation/relaxation. An analysis of the temperature evolution of $λ^{-2}_{\rm ab}$ in terms of coexisting $s+d-$wave order parameters reveals that the OIE on the superfluid density $ρ_{\rm s}(0)\proptoλ^{-2}_{\rm ab}(0)$ stems predominantly from the $d-$wave component while the contribution of the $s-$wave one is almost zero. The OIE on the transition temperature $T_{\rm c}$ is found to be rather small: $δT_{\rm c}/T_{\rm c}= -0.32(7)$%, compared to the total OIE on the superfluid density $ρ_{\rm s}(0)$: $δρ_{\rm s}(0)/ρ_{\rm s}(0)= -2.8(1.0)$%. The partial OIE's on the corresponding $d-$wave and $s-$wave components of $ρ_{\rm s}(0)$ are $δρ_{\rm s,d}(0)/ρ_{\rm s}(0)= -3.0(1.2)$%, and $δρ_{\rm s,s}(0)/ρ_{\rm s}(0)= 0.2(1.2)$%, respectively. Our results demonstrate that polaron formation in the CuO$_2$ planes is the origin of the observed OIE in the $d-$wave channel. In the much weaker $s-$wave channel, fermionic quasiparticles are present, which do not contribute to the OIE on $ρ_{\rm s}(0)$. Our results support the original idea of K. Alex Müller on the polaronic nature of the supercarries in high-temperature cuprate superconductors.

The first-principles calculations and measurements of the magnetic penetration depths, the upper critical field, and the specific heat were performed for a family of Mo$_5$Si$_{3-x}$P$_x$ superconducotrs. First-principles calculations suggest the presence of a flat band dispersion, which gradually shifts to the Fermi level as a function of phosphorus do** $x$. The flat band approaches the Fermi level at $x\simeq 1.3$, thus separating Mo$_5$Si$_{3-x}$P$_x$ between the purely steep band and the steep band/flat band superconducting regimes. The emergence of flat bands lead to an abrupt change of nearly all the superconducting quantities. In particular, a strong reduction of the coherence length $ξ$ and enhancement of the penetration depth $λ$ result in nearly factor of three increase of the Ginzburg-Landau parameter $κ=λ/ξ$ (from $κ\simeq 25$ for $x\lesssim 1.2$ to $κ\simeq 70$ for $x\gtrsim 1.4$) thus initiating the transition of Mo$_5$Si$_{3-x}$P$_x$ from a moderate to an extreme type-II superconductivity.

We report on measurements of the in-plane magnetic penetration depth ($λ_{\rm ab}$) in single crystals of Sr$_2$RuO$_4$ down to $\simeq 0.015$ K by means of muon-spin rotation/relaxation. The linear temperature dependence of $λ^{-2}_{\rm ab}$ for $T\lesssim 0.7$ K suggests the presence of nodes in the superconducting gap. This statement is further substantiated by observation of the Volovik effect, $i.e.$ the reduction of $λ_{ab}^{-2}$ as a function of the applied magnetic field. The experimental zero-field and zero-temperature value of $λ_{\rm ab}=124(3)$ nm agrees with $λ_{\rm ab}\simeq 130$ nm, calculated based on results of electronic structure measurements reported in [Phys. Rev X 9, 021048 (2019)]. Our analysis reveals that a simple nodal superconducting energy gap, described by the lowest possible harmonic of a gap function, does not capture the dependence of $λ_{\rm ab}^{-2}$ on $T$, so the higher angular harmonics of the energy gap function need to be introduced.

Charge ordered kagome lattices have been demonstrated to be intriguing platforms for studying the intertwining of topology, correlation, and magnetism. The recently discovered charge ordered kagome material ScV_6Sn_6 does not feature a magnetic groundstate or excitations, thus it is often regarded as a conventional paramagnet. Here, using advanced muon-spin rotation spectroscopy, we uncover an unexpected hidden magnetism of the charge order. We observe a striking enhancement of the internal field width sensed by the muon ensemble, which takes place within the charge ordered state. More remarkably, the muon spin relaxation rate below the charge ordering temperature is substantially enhanced by applying an external magnetic field. Taken together with the hidden magnetism found in AV_3Sb_5 (A = K, Rb, Cs) and FeGe kagome systems, our results suggest ubiqitous time-reversal symmetry-breaking in charge ordered kagome lattices.

The newly discovered kagome superconductors represent a promising platform for investigating the interplay between band topology, electronic order, and lattice geometry. Despite extensive research efforts on this system, the nature of the superconducting ground state remains elusive. In particular, consensus on the electron pairing symmetry has not been achieved so far, in part owing to the lack of a momentum-resolved measurement of the superconducting gap structure. Here we report the direct observation of a nodeless, nearly isotropic, and orbital-independent superconducting gap in the momentum space of two exemplary CsV$_3$Sb$_5$-derived kagome superconductors -- Cs(V$_{0.93}$Nb$_{0.07}$)$_3$Sb$_5$ and Cs(V$_{0.86}$Ta$_{0.14}$)$_3$Sb$_5$, using ultrahigh resolution and low-temperature angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES). Remarkably, such a gap structure is robust to the appearance or absence of charge order in the normal state, tuned by isovalent Nb/Ta substitutions of V. Moreover, we observe a signature of the time-reversal symmetry (TRS) breaking inside the superconducting state, which extends the previous observation of TRS-breaking CDW in the kagome lattice. Our comprehensive characterizations of the superconducting state provide indispensable information on the electron pairing of kagome superconductors, and advance our understanding of unconventional superconductivity and intertwined electronic orders.

LuFe$_4$Ge$_2$ crystallizes in the ZrFe$_4$Si$_2$-type structure, hosting chains of Fe-tetrahedra giving rise to geometric frustration and low-dimensionality. The compound orders antiferromagnetically at around 36 K accompanied by a simultaneous structural transition from a tetragonal to an orthorhombic phase. The hydrostatic pressure dependence of the magnetic and structural transitions is investigated using electrical-transport, ac magnetic-susceptibility, ac calorimetry, M$\ddot{\rm o}$ssbauer, muon-spin relaxation ($μ$SR), and x-ray diffraction measurements. External pressure suppresses the first-order transition to the antiferromagnetic phase (AFM1) around 1.8 GPa. The structural transition is largely unaffected by pressure and remains between 30 to 35 K for pressures up to 2 GPa. A second antiferromagnetic phase (AFM2) is observed at higher pressures. The transition from the paramagnetic to the AFM2 phase is of second-order nature and appears to be connected to the structural transition. The magnetic volume fraction obtained from $μ$SR and M$\ddot{\rm o}$ssbauer measurements reveal that the entire sample undergoes magnetic ordering in both magnetic phases. In addition, similar low-temperature muon-precession frequencies in AFM1 and AFM2 phases point at similar ordered moments and magnetic structures in both phases. Our results further indicate enhanced magnetic fluctuations in the pressure induced AFM2 phase. The experimental observations together with density functional theory calculations suggest that the magnetic and structural order parameters in LuFe$_4$Ge$_2$ are linked by magnetic frustration, causing the simultaneous magneto-structural transition.

Measurements in zero field and transverse field confirm the absence of long range magnetic order at high pressures and low temperatures. These measurements suggest changes in the Cu spin fluctuations characteristics above 21 kbar, consistent with the formation of a plaquette phase as previously suggested by inelastic neutron scattering measurements. SCBO is the only known realisation of the Shatry-Sutherland model, thus the ground state mediating the dimer and antiferromagnetic phase is likekly to be a plaquette state.

In this initial study we extend our investigation and make use of high-pressure $μ^+$SR to investigate effects on the low-$T$ magnetic order. Contrary to theoretical predictions we find that the magnetic ordering temperature as well as the ordered magnetic moment increase at high pressure (compressive strain).

The CuIr$_{2-x}$Ru$_x$Te$_4$ superconductors (with a $T_c$ around 2.8 K) can host charge-density waves, whose onset and interplay with superconductivity are not well known at a microscopic level. Here, we report a comprehensive study of the $x$ = 0 and 0.05 cases, whose superconductivity was characterized via electrical-resistivity-, magnetization-, and heat-capacity measurements, while their microscopic superconducting properties were studied via muon-spin rotation and relaxation ($μ$SR). In CuIr$_{2-x}$Ru$_x$Te$_4$, both the temperature-dependent electronic specific heat and the superfluid density (determined via transverse-field $μ$SR) are best described by a two-gap (s+d)-wave model, comprising a nodeless gap and a gap with nodes. The multigap superconductivity is also supported by the temperature dependence of the upper critical field $H_\mathrm{c2}(T)$. However, under applied pressure, a charge-density-wave order starts to develop and, as a consequence, the superconductivity of CuIr$_2$Te$_4$ achieves a more conventional s-wave character. From a series of experiments, we provide ample evidence that the CuIr$_{2-x}$Ru$_x$Te$_4$ family belongs to the rare cases, where an unconventional superconducting pairing is found near a charge-density-wave quantum critical point.

Pressure, together with temperature, electric and magnetic fields, alters the system and allows to investigate the fundamental properties of the matter. Under applied pressure the interatomic distances shrink, which modify interactions between atoms and may lead to appearance of a new (sometime exotic) physical properties as, e.g., pressure induced phase transition(s); quantum critical points(s), new structural, magnetic and/or superconducting states; changes of the temperature evolution and the symmetry of the order parameter(s) etc. The muon-spin rotation/relaxation ($μ$SR) appears to be a commonly used powerful technique allowing to study the magnetic and superconducting responses of various materials under extreme conditions. At present, $μ$SR experiments might be performed under the high magnetic field up to $\simeq 9$ T, temperatures down to $\simeq 10-15$ mK and hydrostatic pressure up to $\simeq 2.8$ GPa. In the following Perspective paper the requirements to the $μ$SR under pressure experiments, the existing high-pressure muon facility at the Paul Scherrer Institute (Switzerland), and selected experimental results obtained by using the $μ$SR under pressure technique are discussed.

From the measurements of the temperature-dependent magnetic penetration depth $λ$, the superconducting order parameter exhibits nodeless pairing, which fits best to an anisotropic $s$-wave gap symmetry. We further show that the $T_{\rm c}$/$λ^{-2}$ ratio is comparable to that of unconventional superconductors. Furthermore, the powerful combination of zero-field (ZF)-$μ$SR and high-field $μ$SR has been used to uncover magnetic responses across three characteristic temperatures, identified as $T_1^*$~${\simeq}$~110~K, $T_2^*$~${\simeq}$~65~K, and $T_3^*$~${\simeq}$~40~K. Our experiments classify CeRu$_{2}$ as an exceedingly rare nodeless magnetic kagome superconductor.

The recently discovered vanadium-based kagome metals $A$V$_{3}$Sb$_{5}$ ($A$~=~K,~Rb,~Cs) exhibit superconductivity at low-temperatures and charge density wave (CDW) order at high-temperatures. A prominent feature of the charge ordered state in this family is that it breaks time-reversal symmetry (TRSB), which is connected to the underlying topological nature of the band structure. In this work, a powerful combination of zero-field and high-field muon-spin rotation/relaxation is used to study the signatures of TRSB of the charge order in CsV$_3$Sb$_5$, as well as its anisotropic character. By tracking the temperature evolution of the in-plane and out-of-plane components of the muon-spin polarization, an enhancement of the internal field width sensed by the muon-spin ensemble was observed below $T_{\rm TRSB}=T_{\rm CDW}\simeq95$~K. Additional increase of the internal field width, accompanied by a change of the local field direction at the muon site from the $ab$-plane to the $c$-axis, was detected below $T^\ast\simeq30$~K. Remarkably, this two-step feature becomes well pronounced when a magnetic field of 8~T is applied along the crystallographic $c-$axis, thus indicating a field-induced enhancement of the electronic response at the CDW transition. These results point to a TRSB in CsV$_3$Sb$_5$ by charge order with an onset of ${\simeq}~95$~K, followed by an enhanced electronic response below ${\simeq}~30$~K. The observed two-step transition is discussed within the framework of different charge-order instabilities, which, in accordance with density functional theory calculations, are nearly degenerate in energy.

The kagome metals of the family $A$V$_3$Sb$_5$, featuring a unique structural motif, harbor an array of intriguing phenomena such as chiral charge order and superconductivity. CsV$_3$Sb$_5$ is of particular interest because it displays a double superconducting dome in the region of the temperature-pressure phase diagram where charge order is still present. However, the microscopic origin of such an unusual behavior remains an unsolved issue. Here, to address it, we combine high-pressure, low-temperature muon spin relaxation with first-principles calculations. We observe a pressure-induced threefold enhancement of the superfluid density, which also displays a double peak feature, similar to the superconducting critical temperature. This leads to three distinct regions in the phase diagram, each of which features distinct slopes of the linear relation between superfluid density and the critical temperature. These results are attributed to a possible evolution of the charge order pattern from the superimposed tri-hexagonal Star-of-David phase at low pressures (within the first dome) to the staggered tri-hexagonal phase at intermediate pressures (between the first and second domes). Our findings suggest a change in the nature of the charge ordered state across the phase diagram of CsV$_3$Sb$_5$, with varying degrees of competition with superconductivity.

Previous bulk experiments under hydrostatic pressure found signatures for a quantum critical regime that extends from $p_\mathrm{c} \approx 0.9$ GPa, where LRO disappears, up to $\sim 1.7$ GPa. We employed extensive muon spin relaxation and rotation ($μ$SR) experiments under pressure. The continuous and complete suppression of LRO at $p_\mathrm{c}$ is confirmed. Above $T_\mathrm{N}(p)$ and beyond $p_\mathrm{c}$, an additional crossover scale $T^\ast(p)$ characterizes the change from pure to stretched exponential relaxation in zero field. Remarkably $T^\ast(p)$ agrees with previously determined signatures of entropy accumulation above LRO. This coincidence microscopically evidences fluctuating frustrated spins at $T\leq T^\ast$ with spin-liquid behavior. Power-law divergences of the temperature and longitudinal field dependences of the relaxation rate, with time-field scaling, at pressures between $p_c$ and 1.7 GPa characterize this regime as quantum critical.

The ambient pressure measurements evince a fully gapped $s$-wave superconducting state in the bulk of the specimen. AC magnetic susceptibility and $μ$SR measurements manifest a continuous suppression of $T_{\rm c}$ with increasing pressure. In parallel, we observed a significant decrease of superfluid density by $\sim$20\% upon application of external pressure. Remarkably, the superfluid density follows linear relation with $T_{\rm c}$ which was found before in some unconventional topological superconductors and hole doped cuprates. This finding signals a possible crossover from BEC to BCS in $α$--PdBi$_2$.

Unconventional superconductors often feature competing orders, small superfluid density, and nodal electronic pairing. While unusual superconductivity has been proposed in the kagome metals AV3Sb5, key spectroscopic evidence has remained elusive. Here we utilize pressure-tuned (up to 1.85 GPa) and ultra-low temperature (down to 18 mK) muon spin spectroscopy to uncover the unconventional nature of superconductivity in RbV3Sb5. At ambient pressure, we detect an enhancement of the width of the internal magnetic field distribution sensed by the muon ensemble, indicative of time-reversal symmetry breaking charge order. Remarkably, the superconducting state displays nodal energy gap and a reduced superfluid density, which can be attributed to the competition with the novel charge order. Upon applying pressure, the charge-order transitions are suppressed, the superfluid density increases, and the superconducting state progressively evolves from nodal to nodeless. Once charge order is eliminated, we find a superconducting pairing state that is not only fully gapped, but also spontaneously breaks time-reversal symmetry. Our results point to unprecedented tunable nodal kagome superconductivity competing with time-reversal symmetry-breaking charge order and offer unique insights into the nature of the pairing state.

Measurement of the absolute value of the applied pressure in high-pressure muon and neutron experiments is a complicated task. It requires both the presence of a calibration material inside the sample volume as well as additional time for refining the response of the calibrant. Here we describe the use of optical calibrants for precise determination of the pressure value inside the piston-cylinder clamp cells. Utilizing the concept of separate volumes for the sample and the optical media, a new setup for conducting in-situ pressure measurements has been successfully tested. Pressures in both the `sample' and the `optical' volumes were proved to be the same within experimental accuracy. The use of SrB$_{4}$O$_7$:(0.01 Sm$^{2+}$, 0.03 Eu$^{2+}$) as a pressure calibrant allows for a high accuracy of pressure determination by considering up to eight fluorescence lines.

We report a comprehensive study of magnetic correlations in LaNiO$_{2}$, a parent compound of the recently discovered family of infinite-layer (IL) nickelate superconductors, using multiple experimental and theoretical methods. Our specific heat, muon-spin rotation ($μ$SR), and magnetic susceptibility measurements on polycrystalline LaNiO$_{2}$ show that long-range magnetic order remains absent down to 2 K. Nevertheless, we detect residual entropy in the low-temperature specific heat, which is compatible with a model fit that includes paramagnon excitations. The $μ$SR and low-field static and dynamic magnetic susceptibility measurements indicate the presence of short-range magnetic correlations and glassy spin dynamics, which we attribute to local oxygen non-stoichiometry in the average infinite-layer crystal structure. This glassy behavior can be suppressed in strong external fields, allowing us to extract the intrinsic paramagnetic susceptibility. Remarkably, we find that the intrinsic susceptibility shows non-Curie-Weiss behavior at high temperatures, in analogy to doped cuprates that possess robust non-local spin fluctuations. The distinct temperature dependence of the intrinsic susceptibility of LaNiO$_{2}$ can be theoretically understood by a multi-method study of the single-band Hubbard model in which we apply complementary cutting-edge quantum many-body techniques (dynamical mean-field theory, cellular dynamical mean-field theory and the dynamical vertex approximation) to investigate the influence of both short- and long-ranged correlations. Our results suggest a profound analogy between the magnetic correlations in parent (undoped) IL nickelates and doped cuprates.

The magnetic phase diagram of Sr$_{1-x}$Ca$_x$Co$_2$P$_2$ as a function of hydrostatic pressure and temperature is investigated by means of high pressure muon spin rotation, relaxation and resonance ($μ^+$SR). The weak pressure dependence for the $x\neq1$ compounds suggests that the rich phase diagram of Sr$_{1-x}$Ca$_x$Co$_2$P$_2$ as a function of $x$ at ambient pressure may not only be attributed to solely chemical pressure effects. The $x=1$ compound on the other hand reveals a high pressure dependence, where the long range magnetic order is fully suppressed at $p_{\rm c2}\approx9.8$~kbar, which seem to be a first order transition. In addition, an intermediate phase consisting of dilute ferromagnetic islands (FMI) is formed above $p_{\rm c1}\approx8$~kbar where they co-exist with a magnetically disordered state. Moreover, such FMI phase seems to consist of an high- (FMI-\textcircled{\small{1}}) and low-temperature (FMI-\textcircled{\small{2}}) region, respectively, separated by a phase boundary at $T_{\rm i}\approx20$~K.

To obtain bulk evidence for such multiple gap behavior, the thermodynamic critical field $B_{\rm c}$ was measured along three different crystallographic directions ([100], [110], and [111]) in a high-quality Pb single crystal by means of muon spin rotation/relaxation. The antiferromagnet and semimetal EuCd$_2$As$_2$ has recently attracted a lot of attention due to a wealth of topological phases arising from the interplay of topology and magnetism. In particular, the presence of a single pair of Weyl points is predicted for a ferromagnetic configuration of Eu spins along the $c$-axis in EuCd$_2$As$_2$. In the search for such phases, we investigate here the effects of hydrostatic pressure in EuCd$_2$As$_2$. For that, we present specific heat, transport and $μ$SR measurements under hydrostatic pressure up to $\sim\,2.5\,$GPa, combined with {\it ab initio} density functional theory (DFT) calculations. Experimentally, we establish that the ground state of EuCd$_2$As$_2$ changes from in-plane antiferromagnetic (AFM$_{ab}$) to ferromagnetic at a critical pressure of $\,\approx\,$2\,GPa, which is likely characterized by the moments dominantly lying within the $ab$ plane (FM$_{ab}$). The AFM$_{ab}$-FM$_{ab}$ transition at such a relatively low pressure is supported by our DFT calculations. Furthermore, our experimental and theoretical results indicate that EuCd$_2$As$_2$ moves closer to the sought-for FM$_c$ state (moments $\parallel$ $c$) with increasing pressure further. We predict that a pressure of $\approx$\,23\,GPa will stabilize the FM$_c$ state, if Eu remains in a 2+ valence state. Thus, our work establishes hydrostatic pressure as a key tuning parameter that (i) allows for a continuous tuning between magnetic ground states in a single sample of EuCd$_2$As$_2$ and (ii) enables the exploration of the interplay between magnetism and topology and thereby motivates a series of future experiments on this magnetic Weyl semimetal.

The recently discovered kagome superconductor CsV$_3$Sb$_5$ ($T_c \simeq 2.5$ K) has been found to host charge order as well as a non-trivial band topology, encompassing multiple Dirac points and probable surface states. Such a complex and phenomenologically rich system is, therefore, an ideal playground for observing unusual electronic phases. Here, we report on microscopic studies of its anisotropic superconducting properties by means of transverse-field muon spin rotation ($μ$SR) experiments. The temperature dependences of the in-plane and out-of-plane components of the magnetic penetration depth $λ_{ab}^{-2}(T)$ and $λ_{c}^{-2}(T)$ indicate that the superconducting order parameter exhibits a two-gap ($s+s$)-wave symmetry, reflecting the multiple Fermi surfaces of CsV3Sb5. The multiband nature of its superconductivity is further validated by the different temperature dependences of the anisotropic magnetic penetration depth $γ_λ(T)$ and upper critical field $γ_{\rm B_{c2}}(T)$, both in close analogy with the well known two-gap superconductor MgB$_2$. Remarkably, the high value of the $T_c/λ^{-2}(0)$ ratio in both field orientations strongly suggests the unconventional nature of superconductivity. The relaxation rates obtained from zero field $μ$SR experiments do not show noticeable change across the superconducting transition, indicating that superconductivity does not break time reversal symmetry.

The kagome lattice, the most prominent structural motif in quantum physics, benefits from inherent nontrivial geometry to host diverse quantum phases, ranging from spin-liquid phases, topological matter to intertwined orders, and most rarely unconventional superconductivity. Recently, charge sensitive probes have suggested that the kagome superconductors AV_3Sb_5 (A = K, Rb, Cs) (A = K, Rb, Cs) exhibit unconventional chiral charge order, which is analogous to the long-sought-after quantum order in the Haldane model or Varma model. However, direct evidence for the time-reversal symmetry-breaking of the charge order remains elusive. Here we utilize muon spin relaxation to probe the kagome charge order and superconductivity in KV_3Sb_5. We observe a striking enhancement of the internal field width sensed by the muon ensemble, which takes place just below the charge ordering temperature and persists into the superconducting state. Remarkably, the muon spin relaxation rate below the charge ordering temperature is substantially enhanced by applying an external magnetic field. We further show the multigap nature of superconductivity in KV_3Sb_5 and that the T_c/lambda_{ab}^{-2} ratio is comparable to those of unconventional high-temperature superconductors. Our results point to time-reversal symmetry breaking charge order intertwining with unconventional superconductivity in the correlated kagome lattice.

There is considerable evidence that the superconducting state of Sr$_2$RuO$_4$ breaks time reversal symmetry. In the experiments showing time reversal symmetry breaking its onset temperature, $T_\text{TRSB}$, is generally found to match the critical temperature, $T_\text{c}$, within resolution. In combination with evidence for even parity, this result has led to consideration of a $d_{xz} \pm id_{yz}$ order parameter. The degeneracy of the two components of this order parameter is protected by symmetry, yielding $T_\text{TRSB} = T_\text{c}$, but it has a hard-to-explain horizontal line node at $k_z=0$. Therefore, $s \pm id$ and $d \pm ig$ order parameters are also under consideration. These avoid the horizontal line node, but require tuning to obtain $T_\text{TRSB} \approx T_\text{c}$. To obtain evidence distinguishing these two possible scenarios (of symmetry-protected versus accidental degeneracy), we employ zero-field muon spin rotation/relaxation to study pure Sr$_2$RuO$_4$ under hydrostatic pressure, and Sr$_{1.98}$La$_{0.02}$RuO$_4$ at zero pressure. Both hydrostatic pressure and La substitution alter $T_\text{c}$ without lifting the tetragonal lattice symmetry, so if the degeneracy is symmetry-protected $T_\text{TRSB}$ should track changes in $T_\text{c}$, while if it is accidental, these transition temperatures should generally separate. We observe $T_\text{TRSB}$ to track $T_\text{c}$, supporting the hypothesis of $d_{xz} \pm id_{yz}$ order.

The exploration of topological electronic phases that result from strong electronic correlations is a frontier in condensed matter physics. One class of systems that is currently emerging as a platform for such studies are so-called kagome magnets based on transition metals. Using muon spin-rotation, we explore magnetic correlations in the kagome magnet Co$_{3}$Sn$_{2-x}$In$_{x}$S$_{2}$ as a function of In-do**, providing putative evidence for an intriguing incommensurate helimagnetic (HM) state. Our results show that, while the undoped sample exhibits an out-of-plane ferromagnetic (FM) ground state, at 5 ${\%}$ of In-do** the system enters a state in which FM and in-plane antiferromagnetic (AFM) phases coexist. At higher do**, a HM state emerges and becomes dominant at the critical do** level of only $x_{\rm cr,1}$ ${\simeq}$ 0.3. This indicates a zero temperature first order quantum phase transition from the FM, through a mixed state, to a helical phase at $x_{\rm cr,1}$. In addition, at $x_{\rm cr,2}$ ${\simeq}$ 1, a zero temperature second order phase transition from helical to paramagnetic phase is observed, evidencing a HM quantum critical point (QCP) in the phase diagram of the topological magnet Co$_{3}$Sn$_{2-x}$In$_{x}$S$_{2}$. The observed diversity of interactions in the magnetic kagome lattice drives non-monotonous variations of the topological Hall response of this system.

Magnetic topological phases of quantum matter are an emerging frontier in physics and material science. Along these lines, several kagome magnets have appeared as the most promising platforms. Here, we explore magnetic correlations in the transition-metal-based kagome magnet TbMn$_{6}$Sn$_{6}$ using muon spin rotation, combined with local field analysis and neutron diffraction. Our results show that the system exhibits an out-of-plane ferrimagnetic structure $P6/mm'm'$ (comprised by Tb and Mn moments) with slow magnetic fluctuations below $T_{\rm C2}$~=~320~K. These fluctuations exhibit a slowing down below $T_{\rm C1}^{*}$~${\simeq}$~120~K, and we see the formation of static patches with ideal out-of-plane order below $T_{\rm C1}$~${\simeq}$~20~K which grow in a volume with decreasing temperature. The appearance of the static patches has a similar onset to the interesting phenomenon such as spin-polarized Dirac dispersion with a large Chern gap and topological edge states. We further show that the temperature evolution of the anomalous Hall conductivity (AHC) is strongly influenced by the low temperature magnetic crossover. Our presented experimental results show that the onset of the topological electronic properties tied to the Dirac band is promoted only by true static out-of-plane ferrimagnetic order in TbMn$_{6}$Sn$_{6}$ and is washed out by the slow magnetic fluctuations above $T_{\rm C1}$~${\simeq}$~20~K. Remarkably, hydrostatic pressure of 2.1 GPa stabilises static out-of-plane topological ferrimagnetic ground state in the whole volume of the sample. Therefore the exciting perspective arises of a magnetic system in which the topological response can be controlled, and thus explored, over a wide range of parameters.

We report muon spin rotation ($μ$SR) experiments together with first-principles calculations on microscopic properties of superconductivity in the kagome superconductor LaRu$_3$Si$_2$ with $T_{\rm c}$ ${\simeq}$ 7K. We find that the calculated normal state band structure features a kagome flat band and Dirac as well as van Hove points formed by the Ru-$dz^2$ orbitals near the Fermi level. Below $T_{\rm c}$, $μ$SR reveals isotropic type-II superconductivity, which is robust against hydrostatic pressure up to 2 GPa. Intriguingly, the ratio 2$Δ/k_{\rm B}T_{\rm c}$ ${\simeq}$ 4.3 (where $Δ$ is the superconducting energy gap) is in the strong coupling limit, and $T_{\rm c}$/$λ_{eff}^{-2}$ (where $λ$ is the penetration depth) is comparable to that of high-temperature unconventional superconductors. We also find that electron-phonon coupling alone can only reproduce small fraction of $T_{\rm c}$ from calculations, which suggests other factors in enhancing $T_{\rm c}$ such as the correlation effect from the kagome flat band, the van Hove point on the kagome lattice, and high density of states from narrow kagome bands. Our experiments and calculations taken together point to strong coupling and the unconventional nature of kagome superconductivity in LaRu$_3$Si$_2$.

LaCrGe$_3$ has attracted attention as a paradigm example of the avoidance of ferromagnetic (FM) quantum criticality in an itinerant magnet. By combining thermodynamic, transport, x-ray and neutron scattering as well as $μ$SR measurements, we refined the temperature-pressure phase diagram of LaCrGe$_3$. We provide thermodynamic evidence (i) for the first-order character of the FM transition when it is suppressed to low temperatures and (ii) for the formation of new phases at high pressures. From our microscopic data, we infer that short-range FM ordered clusters exist in these high-pressure phases. These results suggest that LaCrGe$_3$ is a rare example, which fills the gap between the two extreme limits of avoided FM quantum criticality in clean and strongly disordered metals.

Pressure dependence of the thermodynamic critical field $B_{\mathrm{c}}$ in elemental aluminum was studied by means of the muon-spin rotation/relaxation technique. Pressure enhances the deviation of $B_{\mathrm{c}}(T)$ from the parabolic behavior, expected for a typical type-I superconductor, thus suggesting the weakening of the gap ratio $\langleα\rangle=\langle Δ\rangle/k_{\mathrm{B} }T_{\mathrm{c}}$ ($\langleΔ\rangle$ is the average value of the superconducting energy gap, $T_{\mathrm{c}}$ is the transition temperature and $k_{\mathrm{B}}$ is the Boltzmann constant). With the pressure increase from 0.0 to $\simeq1.6$ GPa, $\langleα\rangle$ decreases almost linearly from 1.73 to 1.67. Our results imply, therefore, that in elemental aluminum the gap ratio $\langleα\rangle$ is smaller than the weak-coupled BCS prediction $α_{\mathrm{BCS}}\simeq1.764$ and it is even further reduced under pressure.

Rather than competing, magnetism and superconductivity in $A$Fe$_2$As$_2$ are coexisting at $P\gtrsim P_{\rm c}$ pressure region. This has especially pronounced implications on emergent collective quantum states in materials. Specifically, the effect of crystal symmetries on the properties of superconductors is widely appreciated, although the clarification of this relationship is a core effort of on-going research. Emergent phenomena on honeycomb lattices are of special interest, as they can give rise to spectacular phenomenology, as manifested by the recent discovery of correlated states in magic-angle graphene, or by the high-temperature superconductivity in MgB$_2$. Here, we report on the structural and microscopic superconducting properties of a class of ternary superconductors with Al/Si honeycomb layers, i.e. Ca$_{1-x}$Sr$_{x}$AlSi. We show that this solid solution is a remarkable model system with a highly tunable two-gap to single-gap superconducting system on a honeycomb lattice, where the superconductivity is enhanced by a subtle structural instability, i.e. the buckling of the Al/Si layers.

A detailed zero-field and transverse-field muon spin relaxation/rotation ($μ$SR) experiemnts have been carried out on the recently discovered non-centrosymmetric superconductor W$_3$Al$_2$C to speculate about its superconducting ground state. Bulk nature of superconductivity below 7.6 K is confirmed through magnetization measurements. No change in the $μ$SR spectra collected above and below $T_c$ is visible, ruling out the possibility of spontaneous magnetic field below $T_c$. This confirms that time-reversal symmetry is preserved for W$_3$Al$_2$C upon entering in the superconducting ground state. Temperature dependent superfluid density [$ρ_s(T)$], which directly reflects the superconducting gap symmetry is obtained by the analysis of spectra obtained from the transverse-field $μ$SR experiments. In search of evidence for multiple superconducting gaps in Mo$_5$PB$_2$, comprehensive measurements, including magnetic susceptibility, electrical resistivity, heat capacity, and muon-spin rotation and relaxation ($μ$SR) measurements were carried out. Data from both low-temperature superfluid density and electronic specific heat suggest a nodeless superconducting ground state in Mo$_5$PB$_2$. Two superconducting energy gaps $Δ_0$ = 1.02 meV (25%) and 1.49 meV (75%) are required to describe the low-$T$ electronic specific-heat data. The multigap features are clearly evidenced by the field dependence of the electronic specific-heat coefficient and the Gaussian relaxation rate in the superconducting state (i.e., superfluid density), as well as by the temperature dependence of the upper critical field. By combining our extensive experimental results with numerical band-structure calculations, we provide compelling evidence of multigap superconductivity in Mo$_5$PB$_2$.

The magnetic response of CaK(Fe$_{0.949}$Ni$_{0.051}$)$_4$As$_4$ was investigated by means of the muon-spin rotation/relaxation. The long-range commensurate magnetic order sets in below the Néel temperature $T_{\rm N}= 50.0(5)$~K. The density-functional theory calculations have identified three possible muon stop** sites. The experimental data were found to be consistent with only one type of magnetic structure, namely, the long-range magnetic spin-vortex-crystal order with the hedgehog motif within the $ab-$plane and the antiferromagnetic stacking along the $c-$direction. The value of the ordered magnetic moment at $T\approx3$ K was estimated to be $m_{\rm Fe}=0.38(11)$ $μ_{\rm B}$ ($μ_{\rm B}$ is the Bohr magneton). A microscopic coexistence of magnetic and superconducting phases accompanied by a reduction of the magnetic order parameter below the superconducting transition temperature $T_{\rm c}\simeq 9$ K is observed. Comparison with 11, 122, and 1144 families of Fe-based pnictides points to existence of correlation between the reduction of the magnetic order parameter at $T\rightarrow 0$ and the ratio of the transition temperatures $T_{\rm c}/T_{\rm N}$. Such correlations were found to be described by Machida's model for coexistence of itinerant spin-density wave magnetism and superconductivity [Machida, J. Phys. Soc. The puzzling situation where some thermodynamic quantities require a single-gap description, while others need a more complex gap scenario, is discussed. Our approach reveals that in some cases, the conclusions based on measurements of only one thermodynamic quantity may lead to conflicting results. As an example, temperature evolutions of the electronic specific heat [$C_{\rm e}(T)$] and the thermodynamic critical field [$B_{\rm c}(T)$] of BeAu superconductor were reconsidered within the framework of the single-gap and the two-gap scenarios. The analysis shows that the single-gap approach describes the temperature dependencies of $C_{\rm e}(T)$ and the superfluid density $ρ_{\rm s}(T)$ satisfactorily. However it fails in the case of $B_{\rm c}(T)$. The self-consistent two-gap model, in contrast, is able to describe all of the mentioned thermodynamic quantities by using a similar set of parameters. Our results reveal that a proper description of the thermodynamic quantities, related to the superconducting pairing mechanism, requires the use of similar model containing the same set of parameters.

The magnetism of the second antiferromagnetic phase (AF2) arising in the iron-based LaFeAsO$_{1-x}$H$_{x}$ superconductor for $x\gtrsim0.4$ was investigated by muon spin rotation measurements under hydrostatic pressure up to 2.6 GPa. The Néel temperature ($T_{\rm N}$) obtained for a sample with $x=0.51$ exhibits considerably greater sensitivity to pressure than that in the pristine antiferromagnetic phase (AF1, $x\lesssim0.06$). Moreover, while the AF1 phase is always accompanied by the structural transition (from tetragonal to orthorhombic) at a temperature ($T_{\rm s}$) which is slightly higher than $T_{\rm N}$, the AF2 phase prevails at higher pressures above $\sim$1.5 GPa where the structural transition is suppressed ($T_{\rm s}=0$). These features indicate that the microscopic origin of the AF2 phase is distinct from that of AF1, suggesting that electronic correlation plays important role in the former phase. We argue that the orbital-selective Mott transition is a plausible scenario to account for the observed pressure dependence of $T_{\rm N}$ and $T_{\rm s}$ in the AF2 phase.

We report the pressure (p_max = 1.5 GPa) evolution of the crystal structure of the Weyl semimetal T_d-MoTe_2 by means of neutron diffraction experiments. We find that the fundamental non-centrosymmetric structure T_d is fully suppressed and transforms into a centrosymmertic 1T' structure at a critical pressure of p_cr = 1.2 GPa. This is strong evidence for a pressure induced quantum phase transition (QPT) between topological to a trivial electronic state. Although the topological QPT has strong effect on magnetoresistance, it is interesting that the superconducting critical temperature T_c, the superfluid density, and the SC gap all change smoothly and continuously across p_cr and no sudden effects are seen concomitantly with the suppression of the T_d structure. This implies that the T_c, and thus the SC pairing strength, is unaffected by the topological QPT. However, the QPT requires the change in the SC gap symmetry from non-trivial s+- to a trivial s++ state, which we discuss in this work. Our systematic characterizations of the structure and superconducting properties associated with the topological QPT provide deep insight into the pressure induced phase diagram in this topological quantum material.

Precise measurements of the thermodynamic critical field ($B_{\rm c}$) in type-I noncentrosymmetric superconductor BeAu were performed by means of the muon-spin rotation/relaxation technique. The temperature evolution of $B_{\rm c}$ can not be described within the single gap scenario and it requires the presence of at least two different types of the superconducting order parameters. The self-consistent two-gap approach, adapted for analysis of $B_{\rm c}(T)$ behavior, suggests the presence of two superconducing energy gaps with the gap to $T_{\rm c}$ ratios $2Δ/k_{\rm B}T_{\rm c}\simeq4.52$ and $\simeq2.37$ for the big and the small gap, respectively. This implies that the superconductivity in BeAu is unconventional and that the supercarrier pairing occurs at various energy bands.

Single crystals of monoclinic La$_{5}$Co$_{2}$Ge$_{3}$ were grown using a self-flux method and were characterized by room-temperature powder X-ray diffraction, anisotropic temperature and field dependent magnetization, temperature dependent resistivity, specific heat, and muon spin rotation. La$_{5}$Co$_{2}$Ge$_{3}$ has a Curie temperature ($T_\mathrm{C}$) of 3.8~K and clear signatures of ferromagnetism in magnetization and $μSR$ data, as well as a clear loss of spin disorder scattering in resistivity data and a sharp specific heat anomaly. The magnetism associated with La$_{5}$Co$_{2}$Ge$_{3}$ is itinerant, has a change in the entropy at $T_\mathrm {C}$ of $\simeq$0.05 R ln2 per mol-Co, and has a low-field saturated moment of $\sim 0.1 μ_\mathrm B$/Co, making it a rare, itinerant, small moment, low $T_\mathrm C$ compound.

In the heavy-fermion system $Yb_2Pd_2In_{1-x}Sn_x$, the interplay of crystal-field splitting, Kondo effect, and Ruderman-Kittel-Kasuya-Yosida interactions leads to complex chemical-, pressure-, and magnetic-field phase diagrams, still to be explored in full detail. By using a series of techniques, we show that even modest changes of parameters other than temperature are sufficient to induce multiple quantum-critical transitions in this highly susceptible heavy-fermion family. In particular, we show that, above $\sim 10$ kbar, hydrostatic pressure not only induces an antiferromagnetic phase at low temperature, but it likely leads to a reorientation of the Yb magnetic moments and/or the competition among different antiferromagnetic configurations.

High-quality single crystals of NdFeAsO$_{0.65}$F$_{0.35}$ (the transition temperature $T_{\rm c} \simeq 30.6$~K) were studied in zero-field (ZF) and transverse-field (TF) muon-spin rotation/relaxation ($μ$SR) experiments. An upturn in muon-spin depolarization rate at $T\lesssim 3$~K was observed in ZF-$μ$SR measurements and it was associated with the onset of ordering of Nd electronic moments. Measurements of the magnetic field penetration depth ($λ$) were performed in the TF geometry. By applying the external magnetic field $B_{\rm ex}$ parallel to the crystallographic $c$-axis ($B_{\rm ex}\| c$) and parallel to the $ab$-plane ($B_{\rm ex}\| ab$), the temperature dependencies of the in-plane component ($λ_{ab}^{-2}$) and the combination of the in-plane and the out of plane components ($λ_{ab,c}^{-2}$) of the superfluid density were determined, respectively. The out-of-plane superfluid density component ($λ_{c}^{-2}$) was further obtained by combining the results of $B_{\rm ex} \| c$ and $B_{\rm ex} \| {ab}$ set of experiments. The temperature dependencies of $λ_{ab}^{-2}$, $λ_{ab,c}^{-2}$, and $λ_{c}^{-2}$ were analyzed within the framework of a self-consistent two-gap model despite of using the traditional $α$-model. Interband coupling was taken into account, instead of assuming it to be zero as it stated in the $α$-model. A relatively small value of the interband coupling constant $Λ_{12} \simeq 0.01$ was obtained, thus indicating that the energy bands in NdFeAsO$_{0.65}$F$_{0.35}$ are only weakly coupled. In spite of their small magnitude, the coupling between the bands leads to the single value of the superconducting transition temperature $T_{\rm c}$.
