Nuclear spin-lattice relaxation studies of Cu$_{2}$O
Abstract: We report the $^{63}$Cu and $^{65}$Cu nuclear spin-lattice relaxation rate measurements of cuprous oxide Cu$_2$O in a zero field Cu nuclear quadrupole resonance at $T$ = 77$-$325 K. From the detailed isotopic measurements of the relaxation rates, we successfully estimated a finite magnetic relaxation rate $^{63}W_M$ and a predominant nuclear quadrupole relaxation rate $^{63}W_Q$. $^{63}W_Q$ change… ▽ More

Re-appearance of antiferromagnetic ordering with Zn and Ni substitution in La_{2-x}Sr_xCuO_4
Abstract: The effects of nonmagnetic Zn and magnetic Ni substitution for Cu site on magnetism are studied by measurements of uniform magnetic susceptibility for lightly doped La_{2-x}Sr_xCu_{1-z}M_zO_4 (M=Zn or Ni) polycrystalline samples. For the parent x=0, Zn do** suppresses the Néel temperature T_N whereas Ni do** hardly changes T_N up to z=0.3. For the lightly doped samples with T_N~0, the Ni dop… ▽ More

Cu Nuclear Quadrupole Resonance Study of La_{2-x}Sr_xCu_{1-y}Zn_yO_4 (x=0.10, 0.15 and 0.20): Zn-induced Wipeout Effect near the Magnetic and Electric Instability
Abstract: We studied Zn-substitution effect on the high-T_c superconductors, underdoped La_{2-x}Sr_xCu_{1-y}Zn_yO_4 (x=0.10; y=0, 0.01, 0.02), optimally doped (x=0.15; y=0, 0.02), and overdoped (x=0.20; y=0, 0.03, 0.06) in a temperature range of T=4.2-300 K, using Cu nuclear quadrupole resonance (NQR) spin-echo technique. We found full disappearance of the Cu NQR signals for the Zn-substituted, Sr-underdo… ▽ More

Zn-Neighbor Cu NQR in Zn-Substituted YBa2Cu3O7-d and YBa2Cu4O8
Abstract: We studied local electronic states near Zn in optimally doped YBa$_2$(Cu$_{1-x}$Zn_x)$_3$O$_{7-δ}$ and underdoped YBa$_2$(Cu$_{1-x}$Zn_x)$_4$O$_8$ via satellite signals of plane-site Cu(2) nuclear quadrupole resonance (NQR) spectra. From the relative intensity of Cu NQR spectra, the satellite signals are assigned to Zn-neighbor Cu NQR lines. The Cu nuclear spin-lattice relaxation time of the sat… ▽ More

Zn-induced wipeout effect on Cu NQR spectra in La$_{2-x}$Sr$_x$Cu$_{1-y}$Zn$_y$O$_4$
Abstract: We report a systematic study of Zn-substitution effect on Cu NQR spectrum for high $T_c$ superconductors La$_{2-x}$Sr$_x$Cu$_{1-y}$Zn$_y$O$_4$ from carrier-underdoped to -overdoped regimes (polycrystalline samples, $x$ =0.10, 0.15, and 0.20). We observed no appreciable wipeout effect for the overdoped samples, a gradual and partial wipeout effect below about 80 K for the optimally doped ones, an… ▽ More

Ni-substituted sites and the effect on Cu electron spin dynamics of YBa2Cu{3-x}NixO{7-δ}
Abstract: We report Cu nuclear quadrupole resonance experiment on magnetic impurity Ni-substituted YBa$_2$Cu$_{3-x}$Ni$_x$O$_{7-δ}$. The distribution of Ni-substituted sites and its effect on the Cu electron spin dynamics are investigated. Two samples with the same Ni concentration $x$=0.10 and nearly the same oxygen content but different $T_c$'s were prepared: One is an as-synthesized sample (7-$δ$=6.93)… ▽ More

Zn-do** dependence of the wipeout region around Zn in YBa2(Cu1-xZnx)4O8
Abstract: We estimated the spread of the magnetically enhanced regions (wipeout regions) around Zn ions in high-Tc superconductors YBa2(Cu1-xZnx)4O8 (x=0, 0.005, 0.01, and 0.022) at T=4.2 K, via the planar 63Cu nuclear spin-lattice relaxation study with Cu nuclear quadrupole resonance (NQR) spin-echo technique. From the analysis of nonexponential planar Cu nuclear spin-lattice relaxation curves, we found… ▽ More

Cu Nuclear Quadrupole Resonance Study of Site-Disorder and Chemical Pressure Effects on Y(Ba1-xSrx)2Cu4O8
Abstract: We report a zero-field Cu nuclear quadrupole resonance (NQR) study on the effects of nonmagnetic Sr substitution for high-Tc superconductors, Y(Ba1-xSrx)2Cu4O8 (Tc=82-80 K for x=0-0.4), using a spin-echo technique. The site-disordering and chemical pressure effects associated with do** Sr were observed in the broadened, shifted Cu NQR spectra. Nevertheless, the site disorder did not significan… ▽ More

Cu Nuclear Quadrupole Resonance Study of the Spin-Peierls Compound Cu1-xMgxGeO3: A Possibility of Precursory Dimerization
Abstract: We report on a zero-field 63Cu nuclear quadrupole resonance (NQR) study of nonmagnetic Mg impurity substituted Cu1-xMgxGeO3 (single crystals; the spin-Peierls transition temperature Tsp~14, 13.5, and 11 K for x=0, 0.0043, and 0.020) in a temperature range from 4.2 K to 250 K. Spin Dynamics near the Superconductor-to-Insulator Transition in Impurity-Doped YBa2Cu4O8
Abstract: We studied low-frequency spin dynamics near the impurity-induced superconductor-to-insulator transition for underdoped high-Tc superconductor YBa2(Cu1-xMx)4O8 (M=Ni, Zn) using the Cu nuclear quadrupole resonance (NQR) spin-echo technique. We observed remarkable suppression of the normal-state pseudo spin-gap and a loss of Cu NQR spectrum intensity at low temperatures around the critical impurity… ▽ More
