Abstract:
PSR J1048$-$5832 (B1046$-$58) is a Vela-like pulsar that has exhibited multiple glitch events. In this study, we analyze the timing data spanning nearly 16 years, acquired from both the Fermi Gamma-ray Space Telescope and the Parkes 64 m radio telescope. As a result, a total of five glitches are detected within this dataset. Among them, a previously unknown small glitch is newly found at MJD 56985(9) (November 24, 2014), which is also the smallest glitch recorded from this source so far. The increments of the spin frequency and its first derivative are $Δν\approx 2.2(3) \times 10^ {-8} $ Hz, and $Δ\dotν \approx 3(2) \times 10^ {-15}$ s$^{-2}$, respectively. Significant changes in the integrated normalized mean pulse profile are observed following three of the five glitch events, notably in the radio band. We discuss the influence of glitches on the pulsar's emission properties due to superfluid dynamics accompanied by crustquake, as well as the constraints on the equation of state.

Based on the Large Sky Area Multi-Object Fiber Spectroscopic Telescope (LAMOST) medium-resolution spectroscopic survey (MRS), we report the discovery of nine super Li-rich unevolved stars with A(Li) $>$ 3.8 dex. These objects show unusually high levels of lithium abundances up to three times higher than the meteoritic value of 3.3 dex, which indicates that they must have experienced a history of lithium enrichment. It is found that seven of our program stars are fast rotators with $vsini>9$ km\,s$^{-1}$, which suggests that the accretion of circumstellar matter may be the main contributor to the lithium enhancement of these unevolved stars, however, other sources cannot be excluded.

We present ten $R$-band photometric observations of eight different transits of the hot Jupiter HAT-P-33b, which has been targeted by our Transiting Exoplanet Monitoring Project (TEMP). The data were obtained by two telescopes at the Xinglong Station of National Astronomical Observatories of China (NAOC) from 2013 December through 2016 January, and exhibit photometric scatter of $1.6-3.0\,\rm{mmag}$. After jointly analyzing the previously published photometric data, radial-velocity (RV) measurements, and our new light curves, we revisit the system parameters and orbital ephemeris for the HAT-P-33b system. Our results are consistent with the published values except for the planet-to-star radius ratio ($R_{P}/R_{*}$), the ingress/egress duration ($τ$) and the total duration ($T_{14}$), which together indicate a slightly shallower and shorter transit shape. Our results are based on more complete light curves, whereas the previously published work had only one complete transit light curve. No significant anomalies in Transit Timing Variations (TTVs) are found, and we place upper mass limits on potential perturbers, largely supplanting the loose constraints provided by the extant RV data. The TTV limits are stronger near mean-motion resonances, especially for the low-order commensurabilities. We can exclude the existence of a perturber with mass larger than 0.6, 0.3, 0.5, 0.5, and $0.3\,{\rm M_\oplus}$ near the 1:3, 1:2, 2:3, 3:2, and 2:1 resonances, respectively.

Using the Herschel ATLAS science demonstration phase data crossidentified with SDSS DR7 spectra, we select 297 galaxies with F250μm > 5σ. The sample galaxies are classified into five morphological types, and more than 40% of the galaxies are peculiar/compact galaxies. The peculiar galaxies show higher far-infrared/submillimeter luminosity-to-mass ratios than the other types. We perform and analyze the correlations of far-infrared/submillimeter and Hα luminosities for different morphological types and different spectral types. The Spearman rank coefficient decreases and the scatter increases with the wavelength increasing from 100 μm to 500 μm. We conclude that a single Herschel SPIRE band is not good for tracing star formation activities in galaxies. AGNs contribute less to the far-infrared/submillimeter luminosities and do not show a difference from star-forming galaxies. However, the earlier type galaxies present significant deviations from the best fit of star-forming galaxies.

We investigate cosmological structure formation seeded by topological defects which may form during a phase transition in the early universe. First we derive a partially new, local and gauge invariant system of perturbation equations to treat microwave background and dark matter fluctuations induced by topological defects or any other type of seeds. We then show that this system is well suited for numerical analysis of structure formation by applying it to seeds induced by fluctuations of a global scalar field. Our numerical results are complementary to previous investigations since we use substantially different methods. The resulting microwave background fluctuations are compatible with older simulations. We also obtain a scale invariant spectrum of fluctuations with about the same amplitude. However, our dark matter results yield a smaller bias parameter compatible with $b\sim 2$ on a scale of $20 Mpc$ in contrast to previous work which yielded to large bias factors. Our conclusions are thus more positive. According to the aspects analyzed in this work, global topological defect induced fluctuations yield viable scenarios of structure formation and do better than standard CDM on large scales.

The cosmic microwave anisotropies in a scenario of large scale structure formation with cold dark matter and texture are discussed and compared with recent observational results of the COBE satellite. A couple of important statistical parameters are determined. The fluctuations are slightly non gaussian. The quadrupole anisotropy is $1.5\pm 1.2\times 10^{-5}$ and the fluctuations on a angular scale of 10 degrees are $ (3.8\pm 2.6)\times 10^{-5}$. The COBE are within about one standard deviation of the typical texture + CDM model discussed in this paper. Furthermore, we calculate fluctuations on intermediate scales (about 2 degrees) with the result $\De T/T(θ\sim 2^o) = 3.9\pm 0.8)\times 10^{-5}$. Collapsing textures are modeled by spherically symmetric field configurations. This leads to uncertainties of about a factor of~2.
