We have studied the signals from axion-like particles (ALPs) as dark matter mediators from celestial objects such as neutron stars or brown dwarfs. We consider the accumulation of dark matter inside the celestial objects using the multiscatter capturing process. The production of ALP from the dark matter annihilation can escape the celestial object and decay into gamma-ray and neutrinos before reaching the Earth. We investigate our model using gamma-ray observations from Fermi and H.E.S.S and neutrino observations from IceCube and ANTARES. The effective Lagrangian approach allows us to place constraints on the ALP-photon and ALP-fermion couplings. In the gamma-ray channel, our results improve the existing bounds on ALPs by 1-2 orders of magnitude. Although the constraints from neutrino fluxes rule out a significant portion of the parameter space, the remaining part of the parameter space is accessible by future experiments.

A dark photon is a hypothetical particle that is similar to a photon with a small mass and interacts very weakly with ordinary matter through a kinetic mixing with the ordinary photon. In this paper, we propose a new way to probe the existence of dark photons through the Bremsstrahlung effect on ultra-high-energy cosmic rays (UHECRs). Using the standard soft photon calculation, we demonstrate that the dark photon Bremsstrahlung process could lead to significant energy loss for protons in the ultralight dark photon scenario, and that this effect could be tested against observational data of UHECRs. We also provide exclusion limits which can be compared with existing limits on ultralight dark photons.

With ever increasing pressure from collider physics and direct detection experiments, particle physics models of TeV scale dark matter are gaining more attention. In this work, we consider two realizations of the class of scalar portal dark matter scenarios -- the inverse seesaw model and the inert doublet model. Observations by the Cherenkov Telescope Array (CTA) of very-high-energy $γ$ rays from dark matter annihilation in the context of these models are simulated for the Draco and Sculptor dwarf spheroidal galaxies, and later analyzed using ctools. We study the potential of CTA for the 5$σ$ detection of a dark matter annihilation signal. In the absence of a signal, we also derive the 2$σ$ upper limits on the annihilation cross-section. We compare our projected CTA sensitivity against the projected sensitivity of the next generation of direct detection experiment, i.e. XENONnT. Although the limits from CTA are significantly improved compared with the previous generations of $γ$-ray experiments, they are still $\sim2$ orders of magnitude above the thermal relic cross-section for the considered targets. In the case of the inverse seesaw model, the constraint from the future direct detection experiment XENONnT is much weaker than the CTA sensitivity, whereas for the inert doublet model, XENONnT gives a bound an order of magnitude stronger compared to the CTA limits.

The anti-de Sitter (AdS) black hole plays an important role in the holographic principle. In this study, the upper bound in energy corresponding to the mass of the Schwarzschild black hole is modified to be that of the AdS black hole. Via the correspondence between the ultraviolet (UV) and infrared (IR) cutoffs, the constant term in the energy density of the holographic dark energy (HDE) can be obtained from the negative cosmological constant from the black hole. Interestingly, the proposed dark energy model could drive the late-time expansion of the Universe without the causality violation. The cosmic evolution is investigated by choosing the Hubble and particle horizons as the IR length scales. It is found that the accelerated expansion at late time can be obtained for both cases. This result may shed light on the connection between the AdS black hole and the de Sitter (dS) spacetime in the context of cosmology.

We study the phenomenology of the inverse seesaw mechanism in the scalar-Higgs portal dark matter model. The model is an extension of the Standard Model including two additional neutrinos, a singlet scalar and a fermionic dark matter. We consider the inverse seesaw mechanism where the mass of 2 additional neutrinos are made dynamic by the singlet scalar. We found that the natural scale for the scalar vacuum expectation value is naturally close to the weak scale. Motivating by this fact, we focus on the possibility of the singlet scalar connecting with dark matter, i.e., the scalar is also the mediator between dark sector and the Standard Model. We perform a numerical analysis over the parameter space subject to the indirect and direct detection constraints. The feasible region of the parameter space will be discussed.

Axions arise in many theoretical extensions of the Standard Model of particle physics, in particular the "string axiverse". If the axion masses, $m_a$, and (effective) decay constants, $f_a$, lie in specific ranges, then axions contribute to the cosmological dark matter and dark energy densities. We compute the background cosmological (quasi-)observables for models with a large number of axion fields, $n_{\rm ax}\sim \mathcal{O}(10-100)$, with the masses and decay constants drawn from statistical distributions. This reduces the number of parameters from $2n_{\rm ax}$ to a small number of "hyperparameters". We consider a number of distributions, from those motivated purely by statistical considerations, to those where the structure is specified according to a class of M-theory models. Using Bayesian methods we are able to constrain the hyperparameters of the distributions. In some cases the hyperparameters can be related to string theory, e.g. constraining the number ratio of axions to moduli, or the typical decay constant scale needed to provide the correct relic densities. Our methodology incorporates the use of both random matrix theory and Bayesian networks.

The string/$M$ theory Axiverse -- a plethora of very light Axion Like Particles (ALPs) with a vast range of masses -- is arguably a generic prediction of string/$M$ theory. String/$M$ theory also tends to predict that the early Universe is dominated by moduli fields. When the heavy moduli decay, before nucleosynthesis, they produce dark radiation in the form of relativistic ALPs. Generically one estimates that the number of relativistic species grows with the number of axions in the Axiverse, in contradiction to the observations that $N_{eff} \leq 4$. We explain this problem in detail and suggest some possible solutions to it. The simplest solution requires that the lightest modulus decays only into its own axion superpartner plus Standard Model particles and this severely constrains the moduli Kahler potential and mass matrix.
