We determined shock speed in the Galactic supernova remnant Cygnus Loop, using proper motion of its optical filaments and the latest estimate for its distance. The proper motion was measured by comparing H$α$ images of the remnant observed in two epochs: 1993 (Kitt Peak National Observatory) and 2018/2019 (National Astronomical Observatory Rozhen and Astronomical station Vidojevica). We derived shock speed for 35 locations along different filaments, which is twice as much as in earlier studies of north-eastern part of Cygnus Loop. For the first time, we have measured shock speed of radiative filaments in this region. Three of the analyzed locations where we measured proper motion of filaments are radiative, based on their presence in [SII] images from the second epoch. The other filaments are non-radiative. The speed we obtained for the non-radiative filaments is in the range of 240-650 $\mathrm{km\ s^{-1}}$, with an estimate for the uncertainty of 70 $\mathrm{km\ s^{-1}}$. These values are mostly in agreement with previous studies. The radiative filaments have lower speed of 100-160$\pm${70} $\mathrm{km\ s^{-1}}$, which is in agreement with the assumption that they are older in evolutionary terms. This clear distinction between the speed of the two types of filaments proves that the [SII] emission can be used for identifying radiative filaments in supernova remnants.

We report the reconstruction of the mass component spectra of cosmic rays (protons, helium, carbon, silicon and iron) and their mean mass composition, at energies from 1.4 to 100 PeV. The results are derived from the archival data of the extensive air shower experiment KASCADE. We use a novel machine learning technique developed specifically for this reconstruction, and post-LHC hadronic interaction models: QGSJet-II.04, EPOS-LHC and Sibyll 2.3c. We have found an excess of the proton component and a deficit of intermediate and heavy nuclei components compared to the original KASCADE results. The spectra of protons and helium show a knee-like behavior at ~ 4.4 PeV and ~ 11 PeV, with significances 5.2$σ$ and 3.9$σ$, respectively. The spectrum of the iron component has a hint (2.4$σ$) of a hardening at ~ 4.5 PeV, which can be interpreted as a counterpart of a hardening in the proton spectrum at 166 TeV, recently reported by the GRAPES-3 experiment. The systematic uncertainties of our analysis were found to be smaller than those of the original KASCADE, as well as those of IceTop and TALE experiments, over the most part of the energy range studied. We also estimated separately the uncertainty related to the difference between the three mentioned hadronic interaction models. We also compute a mean logarithm mass of cosmic ray flux as a function of energy. It is in agreement with the results of IceTop, TALE and LHAASO within the uncertainties.

In this paper we present new optical observations of the galaxy NGC 185 intended to reveal the status of supernova remnants (SNRs) in this dwarf companion of the Andromeda galaxy. Previously, it was reported that this galaxy hosts one SNR. Our deep photometric study with the 2m telescope at Rozhen National Astronomical Observatory using narrow-band H$α$ and [SII] filters revealed complex structure of the interstellar medium in the center of the galaxy. To confirm the classification and to study the kinematics of the detected nebulae, we carried out spectroscopic observations using the SCORPIO multi-mode spectrograph at the 6m telescope at the Special Astrophysical Observatory of the Russian Academy of Science, both in low- and high-resolution modes. We also searched the archival X-ray and radio data for counterparts of the candidate SNRs identified by our optical observations. Our observations imply the presence of one more SNR, one possible HII region previously cataloged as part of an SNR, and the presence of an additional source of shock ionization in one low-brightness PN. We detected enhanced [SII]/H_alpha and [NII]/H_alpha line ratios, as well as relatively high (up to 90 km s$^{-1}$) expansion velocities of the two observed nebulae, motivating their classification as SNRs (with diameters of 45 pc and 50 pc), confirmed by both photometric and spectral observations. The estimated electron density of emission nebulae is 30 - 200 cm$^{-3}$. Archival XMM-Newton observations indicate the presence of an extended, low-brightness, soft source in projection of one of the optical SNRs, whereas the archival VLA radio image shows weak, unresolved emission in the center of NGC 185.

Our results suggest that the disc radius in recent decades show evidence of resonant truncation of the disc by resonances 10:1, 3:1, and 2:1, while the maximum disc size is larger than the Roche lobe of the primary and smaller than the closest approach of the neutron star. We find correlation between equivalent width of H-alpha emission line ($Wα$) and the X-ray flux, which is visible when $15 \: Å\: < Wα\le 40 \: Å$. The correlation is probably due to wind Roche lobe overflow.

The sinusoidal-like O-C diagram of V471 Cas shows presence of third body with mass of 0.12 Msun (red dwarf) at distance 897 Rsun. The O-C diagram of V479 Lac reveals period decreasing. The results of the light curve solutions are: (i) The targets are overcontact binaries with small fill-out factors; (ii) Their components are F-K stars, comparable in size, whose temperature differences are below 80 K; (iii) All targets undergo partial eclipses and to limit the possible mass ratios we carried out two-step $q$-search analysis. The target global parameters (luminosities, radii, masses) were obtained on the base of their GAIA distances and the results of our light curve solutions. The obtained total mass of V560 Lac turns out smaller than the lower mass limit for the presently existing W UMa binaries of 1.0-1.2 Msun, i.e. this target is an peculiar overcontact system.

NSVS 254037 undergoes total eclipse of W subtype and the mass ratio is well-determined. Its exclusive small value of only 0.077 implies that the target probably goes to instability and possible merger. This value ranks NSVS 2569022 in sixth place among the binaries with smallest mass ratio. On the base of empirical relation "period -- total mass" for low mass-ratio binaries we estimated the global parameters of NSVS 2569022: masses $M_1$=1.17 M$_{\odot}$ and $M_2$=0.09 M$_{\odot}$; radii $R_1$=1.19 R$_{\odot}$ and $R_2$=0.38 R$_{\odot}$; luminosities $L_1$=1.73 L$_{\odot}$ and $L_2$=0.17 L$_{\odot}$. An analysis of the characteristics of binaries with extremely low-mass ratios is made. NSVS 2569022 turns out peculiar binary among the W UMa stars with extremely small mass ratios due to its unexpected small fill-out factor of only 0.014 (slightly overcontact configuration).

The stellar components are of G and K spectral types and undergo partial eclipses. All systems have barely-overcontact configurations and belong to H subtype W UMa binaries. We established that the relation between the luminosity ratio l_{2}/l_{1} and mass ratio q of our targets is approximately l_{2}/l_{1} = q^{1.5}.

This would represent the fractional error when the star formation rate (SFR) for this galaxy is derived from the total galaxy's H$α$ emission.
