Alfvénic superradiance for a monopole magnetosphere around a Kerr black hole
Abstract: We explore superradiance for Alfvén waves (Alfvénic superradiance) in an axisymmetric rotating magnetosphere of a Kerr black hole within the force-free approximation. On the equatorial plane of the Kerr spacetime, the Alfvén wave equation is reduced to a one-dimensional Schrödinger-type equation by separating variables of the wave function and introducing a tortoise coordinate map** the inner an… ▽ More

One-dimensional force-free numerical simulations of Alfven waves around a spinning black string
Abstract: We performed one-dimensional force-free magnetodynamic numerical simulations of the propagation of Alfven waves along magnetic field lines around a spinning black-hole-like object, the Banados--Teitelboim--Zanelli black string, to investigate the dynamic process of wave propagation and energy transport with Alfven waves. We considered axisymmetric and stationary magnetosphere and perturbed the bac… ▽ More

Squeezing of primordial gravitational waves as quantum discord
Abstract: We investigate the squeezing of primordial gravitational waves (PGWs) in terms of quantum discord. We construct a classical state of PGWs without quantum discord and compare it with the Bunch-Davies vacuum. Then it is shown that the oscillatory behavior of the angular-power spectrum of the cosmic microwave background (CMB) fluctuations induced by PGWs can be the signature of the quantum discord of… ▽ More

Blandford-Znajek process as Alfvénic superradiance
Abstract: The superradiant scattering of Alfvén waves (Alfvénic superradiance) in a forcefree magnetosphere is discussed to reveal the relationship between the Blandford-Znajek (BZ) process and superradiance. For simplicity, we consider a four-dimensional rotating black string spacetime of which each $z=\text{const}$ slice is a Bañados-Teitelboim-Zanelli solution as an analogy of the equatorial plane of the… ▽ More

Spherical polytropic balls cannot mimic black holes
Abstract: The so-called black hole shadow is a dark region which is expected to appear in a fine image of optical observation of black holes. It is essentially an absorption cross section of black hole, and the boundary of shadow is determined by unstable circular orbits of photons (UCOP). If there exists a compact object possessing UCOP but no black hole horizon, it can provide us with the same shadow imag… ▽ More

Maximum mass of a barotropic spherical star
Abstract: The ratio of total mass $M$ to surface radius $R$ of spherical perfect fluid ball has an upper bound, $M/R < B$. Buchdahl obtained $B = 4/9$ under the assumptions; non-increasing mass density in outward direction, and barotropic equation of states. Barraco and Hamity decreased the Buchdahl's bound to a lower value $B = 3/8$ $(< 4/9)$ by adding the dominant energy condition to Buchdahl's assumption… ▽ More

Viewing Black Holes by Waves
Abstract: We study scattering of waves by black holes. Solving a massless scalar field with a point source in the Schwarzschild spacetime, waves scattered by the black hole is obtained numerically. We then reconstruct images of the black hole from scattered wave data for specified scattering angles. For the forward and the backward directions, obtained wave optical images of black holes show rings that corr… ▽ More

The Role of Anisotropy in the Void Models without Dark Energy
Abstract: Void models provide a possible explanation of the "accelerated expansion" of the Universe without dark energy. To make the conventional void models more realistic, we allow the void, an underdense region around us, to be anisotropic and consider an average of the distance-redshift relations over the solid angle subtended at the observer. We first show that after taking the average of a form of t… ▽ More

Entanglement of Quantum Fluctuations in the Inflationary Universe
Abstract: We investigate quantum entanglement of a scalar field in the inflationary universe. By introducing a bipartite system using a lattice model of scalar field, we apply the separability criterion based on the partial transpose operation and numerically calculate the bipartite entanglement between separate spatial regions. We find that the initial entangled state becomes separable or dis-entangled w… ▽ More

Luminosity distance-redshift relation for the LTB solution near the center
Abstract: Motivated by the inverse problem for the Lemaitre-Tolman-Bondi dust solution, in which problem the luminosity distance function $D_L(z)$ is taken as an input to select a specific model, we compute the function $D_L(z)$ of the LTB solution up to the third order of $z$. To perform the otherwise cumbersome computation, we introduce a new convenient form of the LTB solution, in which the solution is… ▽ More

Evolution of Non-linear Fluctuations in Preheating after Inflation
Abstract: We investigate the evolution of the non-linear long wavelength fluctuations during preheating after inflation. By using the separate universe approach, the temporal evolution of the power spectrum of the scalar fields and the curvature variable is obtained numerically. We found that the amplitude of the large scale fluctuations is suppressed after non-linear evolution during preheating.

Accelerating Universe via Spatial Averaging
Abstract: We present a model of an inhomogeneous universe that leads to accelerated expansion after taking spatial averaging. The model universe is the Tolman-Bondi solution of the Einstein equation and contains both a region with positive spatial curvature and a region with negative spatial curvature. We find that after the region with positive spatial curvature begins to re-collapse, the deceleration pa… ▽ More

By applying the renormalization group method to a Friedmann-Robertson-Walker universe with long wavelength fluctuations, we demonstrate that the renormalized solution with the backreaction effect is equivalent to that of the separate universe. Back Reaction Problem in the Inflationary Universe
Abstract: We investigate the back reaction of cosmological perturbations on an inflationary universe using the renormalization-group method. The second-order zero mode solution which appears by the nonlinearity of the Einstein equation is regarded as a secular term of a perturbative expansion, we renormalized a constant of integration contained in the background solution and absorbed the secular term to t… ▽ More

Renormalization of Long-wavelength Solution of Einstein Equation
Abstract: Using the renormalization group method, we improved the first order solution of the long-wavelength expansion of the Einstein equation. By assuming that the renormalization group transformation has the property of Lie group, we can regularize the secular divergence caused by the spatial gradient terms and absorb it to the background seed metric. The solution of the renormalization group equation… ▽ More

Application of Gradient Expansion to Inflationary Universe
Abstract: Using the long wave perturbation scheme(gradient expansion), the effect of inhomogeneity on the inflationary phase is investigated. We solved the perturbation equation of which source term comes from inhomogeneity of a scalar field and a seed metric. The result indicates that sub-horizon scale inhomogeneity strongly affects the onset of inflation.

Fate of Inhomogeneity in Schwarzschild-deSitter Space-time
Abstract: We investigate the global structure of the space time with a spherically symmetric inhomogeneity using a metric junction, and classify all possible types. We found that a motion with a negative gravitational mass is possible although the energy condition of the matter is not violated. Using the result, formation of black hole and worm hole during the inflationary era is discussed.
