In this paper, we interpret the dark energy as an effect caused by small scale inhomogeneities of the universe with the use of the spatial averaged approach of Buchert. The model considered here adopts the Chevallier-Polarski-Linder(CPL) parameterizations of the equation of state of the effective perfect fluid from the backreaction effect. Thanks to the effective geometry introduced by Larena et. al.\cite{larena2009testing} in their previous work, we confront such backreaction model with latest type Ia supernova and Hubble parameter observations, coming out with results that reveal the difference between the Friedmann-Lemaître-Robertson-Walker model and backreaction model.

Accurate photometric redshift (photo-$z$) estimation requires support from multi-band observational data. However, in the actual process of astronomical observations and data processing, some sources may have missing observational data in certain bands for various reasons. This could greatly affect the accuracy and reliability of photo-$z$ estimation for these sources, and even render some estimation methods unusable. The same situation may exist for the upcoming Chinese Space Station Telescope (CSST). In this study, we employ a deep learning method called Generative Adversarial Imputation Networks (GAIN) to impute the missing photometric data in CSST, aiming to reduce the impact of data missing on photo-$z$ estimation and improve estimation accuracy. Our results demonstrate that using the GAIN technique can effectively fill in the missing photometric data in CSST. Particularly, when the data missing rate is below 30\%, the imputation of photometric data exhibits high accuracy, with higher accuracy in the $g$, $r$, $i$, $z$, and $y$ bands compared to the $NUV$ and $u$ bands. After filling in the missing values, the quality of photo-$z$ estimation obtained by the widely used Easy and Accurate Zphot from Yale (EAZY) software is notably enhanced. Evaluation metrics for assessing the quality of photo-$z$ estimation, including the catastrophic outlier fraction ($f_{out}$), the normalized median absolute deviation ($\rm {σ_{NMAD}}$), and the bias of photometric redshift ($bias$), all show some degree of improvement. Our research will help maximize the utilization of observational data and provide a new method for handling sample missing values for applications that require complete photometry data to produce results.

The origin of intermediate helium (He)-rich hot subdwarfs are still unclear. Previous studies have suggested that some surviving Type Ia supernovae (SNe Ia) companions from the white dwarf~+~main-sequence (WD+MS) channel may contribute to the intermediate He-rich hot subdwarfs. However, previous studies ignored the impact of atomic diffusion on the post-explosion evolution of surviving companion stars of SNe Ia, leading to that they could not explain the observed surface He abundance of intermediate He-rich hot subdwarfs. In this work, by taking the atomic diffusion and stellar wind into account, we trace the surviving companions of SNe Ia from the WD+MS channel using the one-dimensional stellar evolution code \textsc{MESA} until they evolve into hot subdwarfs. We find that the surface He-abundances of our surviving companion models during their core He-burning phases are in a range of $-1 \lesssim {\rm log}(N_{\rm He}/N_{\rm H}) \lesssim 0$, which are consistent with those observed in intermediate He-rich hot subdwarfs. This seems to further support that surviving companions of SNe Ia in the WD+MS channel are possible to form some intermediate He-rich hot subdwarfs.

Strong gravitational lensing is a powerful tool for investigating dark matter and dark energy properties. With the advent of large-scale sky surveys, we can discover strong lensing systems on an unprecedented scale, which requires efficient tools to extract them from billions of astronomical objects. The existing mainstream lens-finding tools are based on machine learning algorithms and applied to cut-out-centered galaxies. However, according to the design and survey strategy of optical surveys by CSST, preparing cutouts with multiple bands requires considerable efforts. To overcome these challenges, we have developed a framework based on a hierarchical visual Transformer with a sliding window technique to search for strong lensing systems within entire images. Moreover, given that multi-color images of strong lensing systems can provide insights into their physical characteristics, our framework is specifically crafted to identify strong lensing systems in images with any number of channels. As evaluated using CSST mock data based on an Semi-Analytic Model named CosmoDC2, our framework achieves precision and recall rates of 0.98 and 0.90, respectively. To evaluate the effectiveness of our method in real observations, we have applied it to a subset of images from the DESI Legacy Imaging Surveys and media images from Euclid Early Release Observations. 61 new strong lensing system candidates are discovered by our method. However, we also identified false positives arising primarily from the simplified galaxy morphology assumptions within the simulation. This underscores the practical limitations of our approach while simultaneously highlighting potential avenues for future improvements.

Precision measurements of astrometry and photometry require stringent control of systematics such as those arising from imperfect correction of sensor effects. In this work, we develop a parametric method to model the wavelength dependence of photo-response non-uniformity (PRNU) for a laser annealed backside-illuminated charge-coupled device. The model accurately reproduces the PRNU patterns of flat-field images taken at nine wavelengths from 290nm to 950nm, leaving the root mean square (RMS) residuals no more than 0.2% in most cases. By removing the large-scale non-uniformity in the flat fields, the RMS residuals are further reduced. This model fitting approach gives more accurate predictions of the PRNU than cubic-spline interpolation does with fewer free parameters. It can be applied to make PRNU corrections for individual objects according to their spectral energy distribution to reduce photometry errors.

Accurate estimation of photometric redshifts (photo-$z$) is crucial in studies of both galaxy evolution and cosmology using current and future large sky surveys. In this study, we employ Random Forest (RF), a machine learning algorithm, to estimate photo-$z$ and investigate the systematic uncertainties affecting the results. Using galaxy flux and color as input features, we construct a map** between input features and redshift by using a training set of simulated data, generated from the Hubble Space Telescope Advanced Camera for Surveys (HST-ACS) and COSMOS catalogue, with the expected instrumental effects of the planned China Space Station Telescope (CSST). To improve the accuracy and confidence of predictions, we incorporate inverse variance weighting and perturb the catalog using input feature errors. Our results show that weighted RF can achieve a photo-$z$ accuracy of $\rm σ_{NMAD}=0.025$ and an outlier fraction of $\rm η=2.045\%$, significantly better than the values of $\rm σ_{NMAD}=0.043$ and $\rm η=6.45\%$ obtained by the widely used Easy and Accurate Zphot from Yale (EAZY) software which uses template-fitting method. Furthermore, we have calculated the importance of each input feature for different redshift ranges and found that the most important input features reflect the approximate position of the break features in galaxy spectra, demonstrating the algorithm's ability to extract physical information from data. Additionally, we have established confidence indices and error bars for each prediction value based on the shape of the redshift probability distribution function, suggesting that screening sources with high confidence can further reduce the outlier fraction.

The detections of Lyman-$α$ ($\rm Lyα$) emission in galaxies with redshifts above 5 are of utmost importance for constraining the cosmic reionization timeline, yet such detections are usually based on slit spectroscopy. Here we investigate the significant bias induced by slit placement on the estimate of $\rm Lyα$ escape fraction ( $f_{\rm esc}^{\mathrm{Lyα}}$), by presenting a galaxy (dubbed A2744-z6Lya) at $z=5.66$ where its deep JWST NIRSpec prism spectroscopy completely misses the strong $\rm Lyα$ emission detected in the MUSE data. A2744-z6Lya exhibits a pronounced UV continuum with an extremely steep spectral slope of $β=-2.574_{-0.008}^{+0.008}$, and it has a stellar mass of $\mathrm{\sim10^{8.82}~M_\odot}$, a star-formation rate of $\mathrm{\sim8.35~M_\odot yr^{-1}}$ and gas-phase metallicity of $\mathrm{12+log\,(O/H)\sim7.88}$. The observed flux and rest-frame equivalent width of its Ly$α$ from MUSE spectroscopy are $1.2\times \rm 10^{-16} erg~s^{-1}cm^{-2}$ and 75Å, equivalent to $f_{\rm esc}^{\mathrm{Lyα}}=78\pm4 \%$. However, its Ly$α$ non-detection from JWST NIRSpec gives a 5-$σ$ upper limit of $<13 \%$, in stark contrast to that derived from MUSE. To explore the reasons for this bias, we perform spatially resolved stellar population analysis of A2744-z6Lya using the JWST NIRCam imaging data to construct 2-dimensional maps of SFR, dust extinction and neutral hydrogen column density. We find that the absence of Ly$α$ in the slit regions probably stems from both the resonance scattering effect of neutral hydrogen and dust extinction. Through analyzing an extreme case in detail, this work highlights the important caveat of inferring $f_{\rm esc}^{\mathrm{Lyα}}$ from slit spectroscopy, particularly when using the JWST multiplexed NIRSpec microshutter assembly.

The Hubble tension persists as a challenge in cosmology. Even early dark energy (EDE) models, initially considered the most promising for alleviating the Hubble tension, fall short of addressing the issue without exacerbating other tensions, such as the $S_8$ tension. Considering that a negative dark matter (DM) equation of state (EoS) parameter is conducive to reduce the value of $σ_8$ parameter, we extend the axion-like EDE model in this paper by replacing the cold dark matter (CDM) with DM characterized by a constant EoS $w_{\rm dm}$ (referred as WDM hereafter). We then impose constraints on this axion-like EDE extension model, along with three other models: the axion-like EDE model, $Λ$WDM, and $Λ$CDM. These constraints are derived from a comprehensive analysis incorporating data from the Planck 2018 cosmic microwave background (CMB), baryon acoustic oscillations (BAO), the Pantheon compilation, as well as a prior on $H_0$ (i.e., $H_0=73.04\pm1.04$, based on the latest local measurement by Riess et al.) and a Gaussianized prior on $S_8$ (i.e., $S_8=0.766\pm0.017$, determined through the joint analysis of KID1000+BOSS+2dLenS). We find that although the new model maintains the ability to alleviate the Hubble tension to $\sim$ 1.4$σ$, it still exacerbate the $S_8$ tension to a level similar to that of the axion-like EDE model.

A millisecond pulsar (MSP) is an old neutron star (NS) that has accreted material from its companion star, causing it to spin up, which is known as the recycling scenario. During the mass transfer phase, the system manifests itself as an X-ray binary. PSR J1402+13 is an MSP with a spin period of $5.89~{\rm ms}$ and a spin period derivative of $\log\dot{P}_{\rm spin}=-16.32$. These properties make it a notable object within the pulsar population, as MSPs typically exhibit low spin period derivatives. In this paper, we aim to explain how an MSP can posses high spin period derivative by binary evolution. By utilizing the stellar evolution code \textsc{MESA}, we examine the effects of irradiation on the companion star and the propeller effect on the NS during binary evolution. We demonstrate that irradiation can modify the spin period and mass of an MSP, resulting in a higher spin period derivative. These results suggest that the irradiation effect may serve as a key factor in explaining MSPs with high spin period derivatives.

The detection significance of gamma rays reaches $4.0\, σ$ and $4.4\, σ$ levels above 25 TeV and 100 TeV, respectively, in units of Gaussian standard deviation $σ$. The energy spectrum measured between $40\, {\rm TeV} < E < 320\, {\rm TeV}$ for the first time is described with a simple power-law function of ${\rm d}N/{\rm d}E = (2.86 \pm 1.44) \times 10^{-16}(E/40\, {\rm TeV})^{-2.24 \pm 0.41}\, {\rm TeV}^{-1}\, {\rm cm}^{-2}\, {\rm s}^{-1}$. The gamma-ray energy spectrum from the sub-TeV ($E < 1\, {\rm TeV}$) to sub-PeV ($100\, {\rm TeV} < E < 1\, {\rm PeV}$) ranges including the results of previous studies can be modeled with the leptonic scenario, inverse Compton scattering by high-energy electrons accelerated by the PWN of PSR J1849$-$0001. On the other hand, the gamma-ray energy spectrum can also be modeled with the hadronic scenario in which gamma rays are generated from the decay of neutral pions produced by collisions between accelerated cosmic-ray protons and the ambient molecular cloud found in the gamma-ray emitting region. The cutoff energy of cosmic-ray protons $E_{\rm p\, cut}$, cut is estimated at ${\rm log}_{10}(E_{\rm p,\, cut}/{\rm TeV}) = 3.73^{+2.98}_{-0.66}$, suggesting that protons are accelerated up to the PeV energy range. Our study thus proposes that HESS J1849$-$000 should be further investigated as a new candidate for a Galactic PeV cosmic-ray accelerator, PeVatron.

A gamma-ray source with an extension of $0.34^{\circ} \pm 0.12^{\circ}$ is successfully detected above $25\, {\rm TeV}$ at $(α,\, δ) = (281.09^{\circ}\pm 0.10^{\circ},\, -3.76^{\circ}\pm 0.09^{\circ})$ near HESS J1843$-$033 with a statistical significance of $6.2\, σ$, and the source is named TASG J1844$-$038. It is well known that there are several long-standing problems implying the discordance of the $Λ$CDM model. Although most of the models proposed to resolve these problems assume that dark matter is pressureless, it is still possible that dark matter is not cold, as current observations have not ruled out this possibility yet. Therefore, in this article, we treat the dark matter equation of state parameter as a free parameter, and apply observational data to investigate the non-coldness of dark matter. Impressing by the simplicity of the phenomenological emergent dark energy (PEDE) and its ability to relieve the Hubble tension, we propose the PEDE+$w_{\rm dm}$ model based on PEDE and non-cold dark matter. We then place constraints on this model in light of the Planck 2018 Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) anisotropies, baryon acoustic oscillation (BAO) measurements, and the Pantheon compilation of Type Ia supernovae. The results indicate a preference for a negative dark matter equation of state parameter at $95\%$ CL for all data sets except CMB alone and CMB+BAO, which suggests that the non-coldness assumption of dark matter worth to be investigated further in order to understand the nature of dark matter. The Hubble tension is alleviated in this scenario compared to the $Λ$CDM model, with a significance below 3$σ$ level for all data sets except CMB+Pantheon. However, from the analysis based on Bayesian evidence, we clearly see that the data sets favor $Λ$CDM over the PEDE+$w_{\rm dm}$ model.

Weak gravitational lensing is one of the most important probes of the nature of dark matter and dark energy. In order to extract cosmological information from next-generation weak lensing surveys (e.g., Euclid, Roman, LSST, and CSST) as much as possible, accurate measurements of weak lensing shear are required. There are existing algorithms to measure the weak lensing shear on imaging data, which have been successfully applied in previous surveys. In the meantime, machine learning (ML) has been widely recognized in various astrophysics applications in modeling and observations. In this work, we present a fully deep-learning-based approach to measuring weak lensing shear accurately. Our approach comprises two modules. The first one contains a convolutional neural network (CNN) with two branches for taking galaxy images and point spread function (PSF) simultaneously, and the output of this module includes the galaxy's magnitude, size, and shape. The second module includes a multiple-layer neural network (NN) to calibrate weak-lensing shear measurements. We name the program Forklens and make it publicly available online. Applying Forklens to CSST-like mock images, we achieve consistent accuracy with traditional approaches (such as moment-based measurement and forward model fitting) on the sources with high signal-to-noise ratios (S/N, > 20). For the sources with S/N < 10, Forklens exhibits an $\sim 36\%$ higher Pearson coefficient on galaxy ellipticity measurements. After adopting galaxy weighting, the shear measurements with Forklens deliver accuracy levels to $0.2\%$. The whole procedure of Forklens is automated and costs about $0.7$ milliseconds per galaxy, which is appropriate for adequately taking advantage of the sky coverage and depth of the upcoming weak lensing surveys.

Although type Ia supernovae are so important in many astrophysical field, e.g. in cosmology, their explosion mechanism and progenitor system are still unclear. In physics, the relative equivalent width (REW) of the Si II 635.5 nm absorption feature reflects the velocity interval of silicon in the supernova ejecta and then may provide constraints on the explosion mechanism of SNe Ia. In this paper, we divide the SNe Ia into broad line (BL) and normal line (NL) subsamples based on their REW of Si II 635.5 nm absorption lines around maximum light, and find that the BL SNe Ia have a dimmer mean brightness than NL ones, which possibly results from their different metallicities. However, based on the pixel statistics study on the environments of two subsamples, we do not find any significant potential difference on the environments between BL and NL SNe Ia, which implies that the explosion mechanism of SNe Ia could be independent of their progenitor populations.

Cosmic hydrogen reionization and cosmic production of first metals are major phase transitions of the universe occurring during the first billion years after the Big Bang, however these are still underexplored observationally. Using the JWST NIRSpec prism spectroscopy, we report the discovery of a sub-$L_\ast$ galaxy at $z_{\rm spec}=8.1623\pm0.0007$, dubbed RXJ2129-z8HeII, via the detection of a series of strong rest-frame UV/optical nebular emission lines and the clear Lyman break. RXJ2129-z8HeII shows a pronounced UV continuum with an extremely steep (i.e. blue) spectral slope of $β=-2.53_{-0.07}^{+0.06}$, the steepest amongst all spectroscopically confirmed galaxies at $z_{\rm spec}\gtrsim7$, in support of its very hard ionizing spectrum that could lead to a significant leakage of its ionizing flux. Therefore, RXJ2129-z8HeII is representative of the key galaxy population driving the cosmic reionization. More importantly, we detect a strong He II $λ$1640 emission line in its spectrum, one of the highest redshifts at which such a line is robustly detected. Its high rest-frame equivalent width (${\rm EW}=21\pm4$ Angstrom) and extreme flux ratios with respect to UV metal and Balmer lines raise the possibility that part of RXJ2129-z8HeII's stellar populations could be Pop III-like. Through careful photoionization modeling, we show that the physically calibrated phenomenological models of the ionizing spectra of Pop III stars with strong mass loss can successfully reproduce the emission line flux ratios observed in RXJ2129-z8HeII. Assuming the Eddington limit, the total mass of the Pop III stars within this system is estimated to be $7.8\pm1.4\times10^5 M_\odot$. To date, this galaxy presents the most compelling case in the early universe where trace Pop III stars might coexist with metal-enriched populations.

Among these 43 flare stars, there are 19 new active stars and 41 stars that have available TESS and/or K2 light curves, from which we found 931 stellar flares. We also obtained rotational or orbital periods of 34 GWAC flare stars, of which 33 are less than 5.4 days, and ephemerides of three eclipsing binaries from these light curves. Combining with low resolution spectra from LAMOST and the Xinglong 2.16m telescope, we found that $L_{\rm Hα}/L_{\rm bol}$ are in the saturation region in the rotation-activity diagram. From the LAMOST medium-resolution spectrum, we found that Star \#3 (HAT 178-02667) has double H$α$ emissions which imply it is a binary, and two components are both active stars. Thirteen stars have flare frequency distributions (FFDs) from TESS and/or K2 light curves. These FFDs show that the flares detected by GWAC can occur at a frequency of 0.5 to 9.5 yr$^{-1}$. The impact of flares on habitable planets was also studied based on these FFDs, and flares from some GWAC flare stars may produce enough energetic flares to destroy ozone layers, but none can trigger prebiotic chemistry on their habitable planets.

Aims. With the next generation of large surveys coming to the stage of observational cosmology soon, it is important to explore their potential synergies and to maximise their scientific outcomes. In this study, we aim to investigate the complementarity of the two upcoming space missions Euclid and the China Space Station Telescope (CSST), focusing on weak lensing (WL) cosmology. In particular, we analyse the photometric redshifts (photo-zs) and the galaxy blending effects. For Euclid, WL measurements suffer from chromatic PSF effects. For this, CSST can provide valuable information for Euclid to obtain more accurate PSF, and to calibrate the color and color-gradient biases for WL measurements.
Methods. We create image simulations for different surveys, and quantify the photo-z performance. For blending analyses, we employ high-resolution HST/CANDELS data to mock Euclid, CSST, and an LSST-like survey. We analyse the blending fraction for different cases, and the blending effects on galaxy photometry. Furthermore, we demonstrate that CSST can provide a large enough number of high SNR multi-band galaxy images to calibrate the color-gradient biases for Euclid.
Results. The sky coverage of Euclid lies entirely within the CSST footprint. The combination of Euclid with CSST data can be done more uniformly than with the various ground-based data. Our studies show that by combining Euclid and CSST, we can reach a photo-z precision of $σ_{\rm NMAD} \approx 0.04$, and an outlier fraction of $η\approx 2.4\%$. Because of the similarly high resolutions, the data combination of Euclid and CSST can be relatively straightforward for photometry. To include ground-based data, however, sophisticated deblending utilizing priors from high-resolution space data is demanded. The color-gradient biases for Euclid can be well calibrated to the level of 0.1% using galaxies from CSST deep survey.

The single-degenerate (SD) model is one of the leading models for the progenitors of Type Ia supernovae (SNe Ia). Recently, a new version of the SD model, the common-envelope wind (CEW) model, has been proposed, which, in principle, has the potential to resolve most of the difficulties encountered by previous SD models. This model is still being developed and a number of open issues remain, such as the details of the mass-loss mechanism from the surface of the common envelope (CE), the main observational properties, and the spiral-in timescale of the binary inside the envelope. In this article, we aim to address these issues by considering hydrodynamical effects on the CE. Using the stellar evolution code MESA, we carried out a series of 1D hydrodynamical simulations of an asymptotic giant branch (AGB) star undergoing a common-envelope phase with different envelope masses (0.0007-0.06 solar mass). We found that the envelopes are always dynamically unstable, leading to regular mass ejection events if the envelope is more massive than the critical value of ~ 0.003 solar mass. The kappa mechanism can naturally explain this phenomenon. We also found that, due to the low mass of the CE, the estimated frictional luminosity caused by the spiral-in of the immersed binary is much less than the nuclear luminosity, and therefore will not affect the structure of the CE significantly. Our results imply that the CE in the CEW model cannot be very massive. We also present a rough estimate for the spiral-in timescale based on a simplified model. We found that, for reasonable assumptions, the timescale may be longer than a few 100,000 yr; therefore, the white dwarf may have enough time to increase its mass toward the Chandrasekhar mass, avoiding a merger with the companion.

Supersoft X-ray sources (SSSs) are known as possible progenitors of Type Ia supernovae. The quasi-periodic variability has been detected in the optical light curves of SSSs. However, the exact origin of such quasi-periodic observable features remains a mystery. In this paper, we aim to reproduce the observed optical quasi-periodic variability of SSSs by proposing a white dwarf (WD) accretion model with a periodic mass transfer caused by the irradiation of supersoft X-ray onto the companion star. Methods. Assuming that a periodic mass transfer from the companion star to the WD can be caused while the supersoft X-ray irradiates the companion star, we used MESA to simulate the WD accretion process and the subsequent WD evolution by adopting a periodic jagged accretion rate. Comparing our results to the optical light curves of a well-observed SSS RX J0513.9-6951, we find that our models can reproduce the quasi-periodic transition between the optical high and low states of RX J0513.9-6951 because the periodic accretion rate can lead to the WD photosphere expands and contracts periodically in our models. In addition, we find that the transitional periods of the SSSs in our models strongly depend on the mass of the accreting WDs. The more massive the WD mass is, the shorter the transitional period. Based on our results, we suggest that the periodic mass transfer caused by the irradiation of supersoft X-ray onto the companion star may be the origin of the observed optical quasi-periodic variability in SSSs. In addition, our results indicate that the observed optical transition period of a SSS may be useful for the rough estimate of the mass of an accreting WD.

The $H_0$ tension between low- and high- redshift measurements is definitely a serious issue faced by current cosmologists since it ranges from 4$σ$ to 6$σ$. To relieve this tension, in this paper we propose a new interacting dark energy model with time varying coupling parameter by parameterizing the densities of dark matter and dark energy, this parametric approach for interacting dark sectors are inspired by our previous work concerning the coupled generalized three-form dark energy model in which dark matter and dark energy behave like two uncoupled dark sectors with effective equation of state when the three-form $|κX|\gg1$, for this reason, we reconstruct coupled generalized three-form dark energy from such parametric model under the condition $|κX_0|\gg1$. In the end, we place constraints on three parametric models in light of the Planck 2018 cosmic microwave background (CMB) distance priors, baryon acoustic oscillations (BAO) data and the Pantheon compilation of Type Ia supernovae (SN Ia) data by assuming the parameter $k$ as 0,5,10 respectively. The fitting results show that, for all the observational data sets, the parametric models with $k=0,5,10$ relieve the Hubble tension with the latest local determinations of the Hubble constant from ${\rm SH_0ES}$ team, i.e. the so called R22, to 2.3 $σ$, 1.9 $σ$ and 1.3 $σ$ with $χ_{\rm min}^2=10.43,10.47,10.48$ respectively, revealing that $k$ is positive correlated to the Hubble constant.

Galaxy photometric redshift (photo-$z$) is crucial in cosmological studies, such as weak gravitational lensing and galaxy angular clustering measurements. In this work, we try to extract photo-$z$ information and construct its probability distribution function (PDF) using the Bayesian neural networks (BNN) from both galaxy flux and image data expected to be obtained by the China Space Station Telescope (CSST). The mock galaxy images are generated from the Advanced Camera for Surveys of Hubble Space Telescope ($HST$-ACS) and COSMOS catalog, in which the CSST instrumental effects are carefully considered. And the galaxy flux data are measured from galaxy images using aperture photometry. We construct Bayesian multilayer perceptron (B-MLP) and Bayesian convolutional neural network (B-CNN) to predict photo-$z$ along with the PDFs from fluxes and images, respectively. We combine the B-MLP and B-CNN together, and construct a hybrid network and employ the transfer learning techniques to investigate the improvement of including both flux and image data. For galaxy samples with SNR$>$10 in $g$ or $i$ band, we find the accuracy and outlier fraction of photo-$z$ can achieve $σ_{\rm NMAD}=0.022$ and $η=2.35\%$ for the B-MLP using flux data only, and $σ_{\rm NMAD}=0.022$ and $η=1.32\%$ for the B-CNN using image data only. The Bayesian hybrid network can achieve $σ_{\rm NMAD}=0.021$ and $η=1.23\%$, and utilizing transfer learning technique can improve results to $σ_{\rm NMAD}=0.019$ and $η=1.17\%$, which can provide the most confident predictions with the lowest average uncertainty.

Recent studies have suggested that type Iax supernovae (SNe Iax) are likely to result from a weak deflagration explosion of a Chandrasekhar-mass white dwarf in a binary system with a helium (He)-star companion. Assuming that most SNe Iax are produced from this scenario, in this work we extend our previous work on the three-dimensional hydrodynamical simulation of ejecta-companion interaction by taking the orbital and spin velocities of the progenitor system into account. We then follow the post-impact evolution of a surviving He-star companion by using the one-dimensional stellar evolution code \textsc{MESA}. We aim to investigate the post-explosion rotation properties of a He-star companion in SNe Iax. We find that the He-star companion spins down after the impact due to the angular-momentum loss and expansion caused by the mass-strip** and shock heating during the interaction. This leads to the situation where the surface rotational speed of the surviving companion can drop to one-third of its pre-explosion value when it expands to a maximum radius a few years after the impact. Subsequently, the star shrinks and spins up again once the deposited energy is released. This spin-switching feature of the surviving He-star companions of SNe Iax may be useful for the identification of such objects in future observations.

The backreaction term ${\cal Q}_\CD$ and the averaged spatial Ricci scalar $\average{\CR}$ in the spatially averaged inhomogeneous Universe can be used to combine into effective perfect fluid energy density $\varrho_{\rm eff}^{\CD}$ and pressure $p_{\rm eff}^{\CD}$ that can be regarded as new effective sources for the backreaction effects. In order to model the realistic evolution of backreaction, we adopt the Chevallier-Polarski-Linder(CPL) parameterizations of the equation of state(EoS) of the effective perfect fluid. To deal with observations in the backreaction context, in this paper, we employ two metrics to describe the the late time Universe, one of them is the standard Friedmann-Lemaître-Robertson-Walker(FLRW) metric, and the other is a template metric with an evolving curvature parameter introduced by Larena et. al. in \cite{larena2009testing}. We also fit the CPL backreaction model using type Ia supernova(SN Ia) data and observational Hubble parameter data(OHD) with these two metrics, and find out that parameter tensions between two different data sets are larger when the backreaction model is equipped with the template metric, therefore we conclude that the prescription of the geometrical instantaneous spatially-constant curvature $κ_{\CD}$ needs to be modified.

We investigate the evolution of the tidal field experienced by massive star clusters using cosmological simulations of Milky Way-sized galaxies. Clusters in our simulations experience the strongest tidal force in the first few hundred Myr after formation, when the maximum eigenvalue of the tidal tensor reaches several times $10^4$ Gyr$^{-2}$. After about 1 Gyr the tidal field plateaus at a lower value, with the median $λ_{\rm m} \sim 3 \times 10^3$ Gyr$^{-2}$. The fraction of time clusters spend in high tidal strength ($λ_{\rm m} > 3 \times 10^4$ Gyr$^{-2}$) regions also decreases with their age from $\sim$20% immediately after formation to less than 1% after 1 Gyr. At early ages both the in situ and ex situ clusters experience similar tidal fields, while at older ages the in situ clusters in general experience stronger tidal field due to their lower orbits in host galaxy. This difference is reflected in the survival of clusters: we looked into cluster disruption calculated in simulation runtime and found that ex situ star clusters of the same initial mass typically end up with higher bound fraction at the last available simulation snapshot than the in situ ones.

The accuracy of galaxy photometric redshift (photo-$z$) can significantly affect the analysis of weak gravitational lensing measurements, especially for future high-precision surveys. In this work, we try to extract photo-$z$ information from both galaxy flux and image data expected to be obtained by China Space Station Telescope (CSST) using neural networks. We generate mock galaxy images based on the observational images from the Advanced Camera for Surveys of Hubble Space Telescope (HST-ACS) and COSMOS catalogs, considering the CSST instrumental effects. Galaxy flux data are then measured directly from these images by aperture photometry. The Multi-Layer Perceptron (MLP) and Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) are constructed to predict photo-$z$ from fluxes and images, respectively. We also propose to use an efficient hybrid network, which combines MLP and CNN, by employing transfer learning techniques to investigate the improvement of the result with both flux and image data included. We find that the photo-$z$ accuracy and outlier fraction can achieve $σ_{\rm NMAD} = 0.023$ and $η= 1.43\%$ for the MLP using flux data only, and $σ_{\rm NMAD} = 0.025$ and $η= 1.21\%$ for the CNN using image data only. The result can be further improved in high efficiency as $σ_{\rm NMAD} = 0.020$ and $η= 0.90\%$ for the hybrid transfer network. These approaches result in similar galaxy median and mean redshifts ~0.8 and 0.9, respectively, for the redshift range from 0 to 4. This indicates that our networks can effectively and properly extract photo-$z$ information from the CSST galaxy flux and image data.

Cosmic rays (protons and other atomic nuclei) are believed to gain energies of petaelectronvolts (PeV) and beyond at astrophysical particle accelerators called 'PeVatrons' inside our Galaxy. Although a characteristic feature of a PeVatron is expected to be a hard gamma-ray energy spectrum that extends beyond 100 teraelectronvolts (TeV) without a cutoff, none of the currently known sources exhibits such a spectrum due to the low maximum energy of accelerated cosmic rays or insufficient detector sensitivity around 100 TeV. Here we report the observation of gamma-ray emission from the supernova remnant G106.3+2.7 above 10 TeV. This work provides flux data points up to and above 100 TeV and indicates that the very-high-energy gamma-ray emission above 10 TeV is well correlated with a molecular cloud rather than the pulsar PSR J2229+6114. Regarding the gamma-ray emission mechanism of G106.3+2.7, this morphological feature appears to favor a hadronic origin via the π0 decay caused by accelerated relativistic protons over a leptonic one via the inverse-Compton scattering by relativistic electrons. Furthermore, we point out that an X-ray flux upper limit on the synchrotron spectrum would provide important information to firmly establish the hadronic scenario as the mechanism of particle acceleration at the source.

We describe a process for cross-calibrating the effective areas of X-ray telescopes that observe common targets. The targets are not assumed to be "standard candles" in the classic sense, in that we assume that the source fluxes have well-defined, but {\it a priori} unknown values. Using a technique developed by Chen et al. (2019, arXiv:1711.09429) that involves a statistical method called {\em shrinkage estimation}, we determine effective area correction factors for each instrument that brings estimated fluxes into the best agreement, consistent with prior knowledge of their effective areas. We expand the technique to allow unique priors on systematic uncertainties in effective areas for each X-ray astronomy instrument and to allow correlations between effective areas in different energy bands. We demonstrate the method with several data sets from various X-ray telescopes.

Some surviving companions of type Ia supernovae (SNe Ia) from the white-dwarf + main-sequence (WD + MS) channel may evolve to hot subdwarfs. In this paper, we preformed stellar evolution calculations for surviving companions of close WD + MS systems in the spin-up/spin-down model and the canonical non-rotating model to map out the initial parameter spaces in the orbital period - secondary mass plane in which the surviving companions can evolve to hot subdwarfs. Based on these results, we carried out a series of binary population synthesis calculation to obtain the Galactic birth rate of the hot subdwarfs from the WD + MS channel, which is $2.3-6\times10^{\rm -4}\,{\rm yr}^{\rm -1}$ for the spin-up/spin-down model and $0.7-3\times10^{\rm -4}\,{\rm yr}^{\rm -1}$ for the canonical non-rotating model. We also show the distributions of some integral properties of the hot subdwarfs, e.g. the mass and the space velocity, for different models. In addition, comparing our results with the observations of the intermediate helium-rich (iHe-rich) hot subdwarfs, the hot subdwarfs from the WD + MS channel may explain some observational features of the iHe-rich hot subdwarfs, especially for those from the spin-up/spin-down model. Although we expect that the SN Ia channel can only contribute a small fraction of the iHe-rich hot subdwarf population, some of these may help to explain cases with unusual kinematics.

We describe a novel end-to-end approach using Machine Learning to reconstruct the power spectrum of cosmological density perturbations at high redshift from observed quasar spectra. State-of-the-art cosmological simulations of structure formation are used to generate a large synthetic dataset of line-of-sight absorption spectra paired with 1-dimensional fluid quantities along the same line-of-sight, such as the total density of matter and the density of neutral atomic hydrogen. With this dataset, we build a series of data-driven models to predict the power spectrum of total matter density. We are able to produce models which yield reconstruction to accuracy of about 1% for wavelengths $k \leq 2 h Mpc^{-1}$, while the error increases at larger $k$. We show the size of data sample required to reach a particular error rate, giving a sense of how much data is necessary to reach a desired accuracy. This work provides a foundation for develo** methods to analyse very large upcoming datasets with the next-generation observational facilities.

We perform the first comprehensive constraints on two Finslerian models, i.e., the simplest Finslerian $Λ$CDM (F$Λ$) and non-flat F$Λ$ models using the Type Ia supernovae, baryonic acoustic oscillations, cosmic microwave background and lensing observations. Using the most stringent constraints we can provide, we find that the constrained typical parameters of both Finslerian models are all consistent with zero at the $2σ$ confidence level (C.L.). This means that both Finslerian models just deviate very slightly from the $Λ$CDM one, which is also verified by using two geometrical diagnostics to distinguish three different models from each other. We also find that a spatially flat universe is still preferred in the framework of Finsler geometry, that our measured values of the spectral index $n_s$ of primordial power spectrum in both Fisnlerian models exclude the scale invariance at more than $8σ$ C.L., and that the current $H_0$ tension can be relieved from $3.4σ$ to $2.9σ$ and $2.8σ$ in the F$Λ$ and non-flat F$Λ$ models, respectively.

Based on the assumption that the dark energy possessing bulk viscosity is homogenously and isotropically permeated in the universe, we propose three new viscous dark energy (VDE) models to characterize the accelerating universe. By constraining these three models with the latest cosmological observations, we find that they just deviate very slightly from the standard cosmological model and can alleviate effectively the current $H_0$ tension between the local observation by the Hubble Space Telescope and the global measurement by the Planck Satellite. Interestingly, we conclude that a spatially flat universe in our VDE model with cosmic curvature is still supported by current data, and the scale invariant primordial power spectrum is strongly excluded at least at the $5.5σ$ confidence level in three VDE models as the Planck result. We also give the $95\%$ upper limits of the typical bulk viscosity parameter $η$ in three VDE scenarios.

The estimation of spectroscopic and photometric redshifts (spec-z and photo-z) is crucial for future cosmological surveys. It can directly affect several powerful measurements of the Universe, e.g. weak lensing and galaxy clustering. In this work, we explore the accuracies of spec-z and photo-z that can be obtained in the China Space Station Optical Surveys (CSS-OS), which is a next-generation space survey, using neural networks. The 1-dimensional Convolutional Neural Networks (1-d CNN) and Multi-Layer Perceptron (MLP, one of the simplest forms of Artificial Neural Network) are employed to derive the spec-z and photo-z, respectively. The mock spectral and photometric data used for training and testing the networks are generated based on the COSMOS catalog. The networks have been trained with noisy data by creating Gaussian random realizations to reduce the statistical effects, resulting in similar redshift accuracy for both high-SNR (signal to noise ratio) and low-SNR data. The probability distribution functions (PDFs) of the predicted redshifts are also derived via Gaussian random realizations of the testing data, and then the best-fit redshifts and 1-sigma errors also can be obtained. We find that our networks can provide excellent redshift estimates with accuracies ~0.001 and 0.01 on spec-z and photo-z, respectively. Compared to existing photo-z codes, our MLP has similar accuracy but is more efficient in the training process. The fractions of catastrophic redshifts or outliers can be dramatically suppressed comparing to the ordinary template-fitting method. This indicates that the neural network method is feasible and powerful for spec-z and photo-z estimations in future cosmological surveys.

The estimated bolometric energy $E_{bol}$ is $(5.56-9.25)\times10^{34}$ ergs, which places the event to be one of the most powerful flares on ultracool stars. The magnetic strength is inferred to be (3.6-4.7) kG. Thanks to the sampling with a cadence of 15 seconds, a new component near the peak time with a very steep decay is detected in the $R$-band light curve, followed by the two-component flare template given by Davenport et al. (2014). An effective temperature of $5340\pm40$ K is measured by a blackbody shape fitting to the spectrum at the shallower phase during the flare. The filling factors of the flare are estimated to be $\sim$30\% and 19\% at the peak time and at 54 min after the first detection. The detection of the particular event with large amplitude, huge-emitted energy and a new component demonstrates that a high cadence sky monitoring cooperating with fast follow-up observations is very essential for understanding the violent magnetic activity.

In this work we propose a new coupled generalized three-form dark energy model, in which dark energy are represented by a three-form field and other components are represented by ideal fluids. We first perform a dynamical analysis on the new model and obtain four fixed points, including a saddle point representing a radiation dominated Universe, a saddle point representing a matter dominated Universe, and two attractors representing two dark energy dominated Universes. We then use the observational data, including cosmic microwave background (CMB) data, baryon acoustic oscillations (BAO) data, and Type Ia supernovae (SN Ia) data to constrain the model parameters of the coupled generalized three-form dark energy model. For comparison, we also consider the coupled three-form dark energy model, generalized three-form dark energy model, and $Λ$CDM model, we find that the coupled generalized three-form dark energy model is the only one model that can reduce the $H_0$ tension to a more acceptable level, with $H_0=70.1_{-1.5}^{+1.4}$ km/s/Mpc, which is consistent with R19 at $2.0σ$ confidence level. We also investigate the best-fit dynamical behavior of the coupled generalized three-form dark energy model, and show that our model is equivalent to a quintom dark energy model, in which dark energy, at early epoch, behaves like some form of early dark energy with a small positive equation of state.

The single degenerate (SD) model, one of the leading models for the progenitors of Type Ia supernovae (SNe Ia), predicts that there should be binary companions that survive the supernova explosion which, in principle, should be detectable in the Galaxy. The discovery of such surviving companions could therefore provide conclusive support for the SD model. Several years ago, a new type of mysterious variables was discovered, the so-called blue large-amplitude pulsators (BLAPs). Here we show that all the properties of BLAPs can be reasonably well reproduced if they are indeed such surviving companions, in contrast to other proposed channels. This suggests that BLAPs could potentially be the long-sought surviving companions of SNe Ia. Our model also predicts a new channel for forming single hot subdwarf stars, consistent with a small group in the present hot-subdwarf-star sample.

We study the growth of stellar discs of Milky Way-sized galaxies using a suite of cosmological simulations. We calculate the half-mass axis lengths and axis ratios of stellar populations split by age in isolated galaxies with stellar mass $M_* = 10^7 - 10^{10} M_{\odot}$ at redshifts $z$ > 1.5. We find that in our simulations stars always form in relatively thin discs, and at ages below 100 Myr are contained within half-mass height $z_{1/2}$ ~ 0.1 kpc and short-to-long axis ratio $z_{1/2}/x_{1/2}$ ~ 0.15. Disc thickness increases with the age of stellar population, reaching median $z_{1/2}$ ~ 0.8 kpc and $z_{1/2}/x_{1/2}$ ~ 0.6 for stars older than 500 Myr. We trace the same group of stars over the simulation snapshots and show explicitly that their intrinsic shape grows more spheroidal over time. We identify a new mechanism that contributes to the observed disc thickness: rapid changes in the orientation of the galactic plane mix the configuration of young stars. The frequently mentioned "upside-down" formation scenario of galactic discs, which posits that young stars form in already thick discs at high redshift, may be missing this additional mechanism of quick disc inflation. The actual formation of stars within a fairly thin plane is consistent with the correspondingly flat configuration of dense molecular gas that fuels star formation.

We report our photometric and spectroscopic follow-up observations of the superoutbursts of three dwarf novae (GWAC\,180415A, GWAC\,181017A and GWAC\,181211A) identified independently by the Ground Wide-angle Cameras system, one of the ground-based instruments of the China-France SVOM mission. Based on a combination of our photometry and that taken from the AAVSO, our period analysis of the superhumps enables us to determine the mass ratios to be 0.0967-0.1163, 0.1879-0.1883 and 0.0981-0.1173 for GWAC\,180415A, GWAC\,181017A and GWAC\,181211A, respectively. GWAC\,180415A can be firmly identified as a WZ sge-type dwarf novae due to its long duration ($\sim2$ weeks) multiple rebrightenings with amplitudes of 3-4 magnitudes, the early superhump associated with a double-wave modulation and the low mass ratio. The inferred low mass ratio and location in the $\varepsilon-P_{\mathrm{orb}}$ diagram suggest that GWAC\,181211A is a WZ sge-type dwarf novae candidate. The measured Balmer decrements suggest the Balmer line emission is produced from an optical thick region in GWAC\,180415A and GWAC\,181017A, and from an optical thin region in GWAC\,181211A.

All the $Hα$ images were carried out using the 2.16-m telescope \textbf{at the Xinglong Station of the} National Astronomy Observatories, Chinese Academy of Sciences\textbf{ (NAOC),} during the year from 2006 to 2009. We obtained pure $Hα$ luminosity for each galaxy and corrected the luminosity for $[NII]$ emission, filter transmission and extinction. We also classified these galaxies based on their morphology and interaction. We found that the distribution of star-forming \textbf{regions} in these galaxies is related to this classification. As the merging process advanced, these galaxies tend to have a more compact distribution of star-forming region, higher \textbf{$L_{IR}$} and warmer IR-color ($f_{60}/f_{100}$). \textbf{These} results imply that the degree of dynamical disturbance plays an important role in determining the distribution of star-forming region.

Although type Ia supernovae (SNe Ia) are very useful in many astrophysical fields, their exact nature is still unclear, e.g. the progenitor and explosion models. The high-velocity features (HVFs) in optical spectra of SNe Ia could provide some meaningful information to constrain the nature of SNe Ia. Here, I show strong evidence that the SNe Ia with strong CaII infrared triple (CaII IR3) HVF around maximum brightness associate with relatively younger population than those with weak CaII IR3 HVF, e.g. the SNe Ia with strong CaII IR3 HVF tend to occur in late-type galaxy, or early-type galaxy with significant star formation. In addition, using pixel statistics I find that the SNe Ia with strong maximum-light CaII IR3 HVF show a higher degree of association with star formation index, e.g. ${\rm H}α$ or near-UV emission, than those with weak CaII IR3 HVF. Moreover, I find that the strength of the CaII IR3 HVF is linearly dependent on the difference of the absorption-weighted velocities between CaII IR3 and SiII 635.5 nm absorption lines, which then is a good index to diagnose whether or not there is a high-velocity component in the CaII IR3 absorption feature in the spectra of SNe Ia. I finally discussed the origin of the HVFs and the constraints from our discoveries on the progenitor model of SNe Ia.

We examine the nature of kpc-scale clumps seen in high-redshift galaxies using a suite of cosmological simulations of galaxy formation. We identify rest-frame UV clumps in mock HST images smoothed to 500 pc resolution, and compare them with the intrinsic 3D clumps of young stars identified in the simulations with 100 pc resolution. According to this comparison, we expect that the stellar masses of the observed clumps are overestimated by as much as an order of magnitude, and that the sizes of these clumps are also overestimated by factor of several, due to a combination of spatial resolution and projection. The masses of young stars contributing most of the UV emission can also be overestimated by factor of a few. We find that most clumps of young stars present in a simulation at one time dissolve on a timescale shorter than $\sim$150 Myr. Some clumps with dense cores can last longer but eventually disperse. Most of the clumps are not bound structures, with virial parameter $α_{\rm vir}$ > 1. We find similar results for clumps identified in mock maps of H$α$ emission measure. We examine the predictions for effective clump sizes from the linear theory of gravitational perturbations and conclude that they are inconsistent with being formed by global disc instabilities. Instead, the observed clumps represent random projections of multiple smaller star-forming regions.

The Bei**g-Arizona Sky Survey (BASS) is a wide and deep imaging survey to cover a 5400 deg$^2$ area in the Northern Galactic Cap with the 2.3m Bok telescope using two filters ($g$ and $r$ bands). The Mosaic $z$-band Legacy Survey (MzLS) covers the same area in $z$ band with the 4m Mayall telescope. These two surveys will be used for spectroscopic targeting of the Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument (DESI). The BASS survey observations were completed in 2019 March. This paper describes the third data release (DR3) of BASS, which contains the photometric data from all BASS and MzLS observations between 2015 January and 2019 March. The median astrometric precision relative to {\it Gaia} positions is about 17 mas and the median photometric offset relative to the PanSTARRS1 photometry is within 5 mmag. The median $5σ$ AB magnitude depths for point sources are 24.2, 23.6, and 23.0 mag for $g$, $r$, and $z$ bands, respectively. The photometric depth within the survey area is highly homogeneous, with the difference between the 20\% and 80\% depth less than 0.3 mag. The DR3 data, including raw data, calibrated single-epoch images, single-epoch photometric catalogs, stacked images, and co-added photometric catalogs, are publicly accessible at \url{http://batc.bao.ac.cn/BASS/doku.php?id=datarelease:home}.

Based on the criterion of muon number measured in an air shower, we successfully suppress 99.92% of the cosmic-ray background events with energies $E>100$ TeV. As a result, we observed 24 photon-like events with $E>100$ TeV against 5.5 background events, which corresponds to 5.6$σ$ statistical significance. This is the first detection of photons with $E>100$ TeV from an astrophysical source.

We bring forward a generalized pressure dark energy (GPDE) model to explore the evolution of the universe. This model has covered three common pressure parameterization types and can be reconstructed as quintessence and phantom scalar fields, respectively. We adopt the cosmic chronometer (CC) datasets to constrain the parameters. The results show that the inferred late-universe parameters of the GPDE model are (within $1σ$): The present value of Hubble constant $H_{0}=(72.30^{+1.26}_{-1.37})$km s$^{-1}$ Mpc$^{-1}$; Matter density parameter $Ω_{\text{m0}}=0.302^{+0.046}_{-0.047}$, and the universe bias towards quintessence. While when we combine CC data and the $H_0$ data from Planck, the constraint implies that our model matches the $Λ$CDM model nicely. Then we perform dynamic analysis on the GPDE model and find that there is an attractor or a saddle point in the system corresponding to the different values of parameters. Finally, we discuss the ultimate fate of the universe under the phantom scenario in the GPDE model. It is demonstrated that three cases of pseudo rip, little rip, and big rip are all possible.

We investigate the relationship between host galaxies' stellar content and active galactic nuclei (AGN) for optically selected QSOs with z$<$0.5. There are total 82 QSOs we select from Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) . These 82 QSOs both have Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer (WISE) data and measurable stellar content. With the help of the stellar population synthesis code STARLIGHT, we determine the luminosity fraction of AGN ,stellar population ages and star-formation history (SFH) of host galaxies. We find out there is a correlation between the star formation history and AGN property which suggests a possible delay from star formation to AGN. This probably indicates that the AGN activity correlate with the star formation activity which consistent with a co-evolution scheme for black hole and host galaxies.

In the statistical framework of model-independent Gaussian processes (GP), we search for the evidence of dynamical dark energy (DDE) using the "Joint Light-curve Analysis" (JLA) Type Ia supernovae (SNe Ia) sample, the 30 latest cosmic chronometer data points (H(z)), Planck's shift parameter from cosmic microwave background (CMB) anisotropies, the 156 latest HII galaxy measurements and 79 calibrated gamma-ray bursts (GRBs). We find that the joint constraint from JLA + H(z) + CMB + HII + GRB supports the global measurement of $H_0$ by Planck collaboration very much in the low redshift range $z\in[0, 0.76]$ at the $2σ$ confidence level (C.L.), gives a cosmological constant crossing (quintom-like) equation of state (EoS) of DE at the $2σ$ C.L. and implies that the evolution of the late-time Universe may be actually dominated by the DDE.
