Putting all the X in one basket: Updated X-ray constraints on sub-GeV Dark Matter
Abstract: Sub-GeV dark matter particles can annihilate or decay producing e^\pm pairs which upscatter the low-energy photon fields in the Galaxy and generate an X-ray emission (via the Inverse Compton effect). Using X-ray data from Xmm-Newton, Integral, NuStar and Suzaku, we derive new constraints on this class of dark matter (DM). In the annihilation case, our new bounds are the strongest available for DM… ▽ More

AMS-02 antiprotons and dark matter: Trimmed hints and robust bounds
Abstract: Based on 4 yr AMS-02 antiproton data, we present bounds on the dark matter (DM) annihilation cross section vs. mass for some representative final state channels. We use recent cosmic-ray propagation models, a realistic treatment of experimental and theoretical errors, and an updated calculation of input antiproton spectra based on a recent release of the PYTHIA code. New minimal, median, and maximal propagation models for dark matter searches with Galactic cosmic rays
Abstract: Galactic charged cosmic rays (notably electrons, positrons, antiprotons and light antinuclei) are powerful probes of dark matter annihilation or decay, in particular for candidates heavier than a few MeV or tiny evaporating primordial black holes. Integral X-ray constraints on sub-GeV Dark Matter
Abstract: Light Dark Matter (DM), defined here as having a mass between 1 MeV and about 1 GeV, is an interesting possibility both theoretically and phenomenologically, at one of the frontiers of current progress in the field of DM searches. Its indirect detection via gamma-rays is challenged by the scarcity of experiments in the MeV-GeV region. We look therefore at lower-energy X-ray data from the Integral… ▽ More

Homeopathic Dark Matter, or how diluted heavy substances produce high energy cosmic rays
Abstract: We point out that current and planned telescopes have the potential of probing annihilating Dark Matter (DM) with a mass of O(100) TeV and beyond. As a target for such searches, we propose models where DM annihilates into lighter mediators, themselves decaying into Standard Model (SM) particles. These models allow to reliably compute the energy spectra of the SM final states, and to naturally evad… ▽ More

Searches for gamma-ray lines and `pure WIMP' spectra from Dark Matter annihilations in dwarf galaxies with H.E.S.S

The H.E.S.S. experiment has observed five of these systems for a total of about 130 hours. The data are re-analyzed here, and, in the absence of any detected signals, are interpreted in terms of limits on the DM annihilation cross section. Two scenarios are considered: i) DM anni… ▽ More

Voyager 1 $e^\pm$ Further Constrain Primordial Black Holes as Dark Matter
Abstract: Primordial Black Holes (PBHs) with a mass $M \lesssim {10^{17}}$g are expected to inject sub-GeV electrons and positrons in the Galaxy via Hawking radiation. Dark Matter's secret liaisons: phenomenology of a dark U(1) sector with bound states

In this paper, we perform a comprehensive phenomenological analysis of such a model, assuming that the DM abundance arises from the thermal freeze-out of the dark interactions. Cosmology and Astrophysics of Minimal Dark Matter
Abstract: We consider DM that only couples to SM gauge bosons and fills one gauge multiplet, e.g. a fermion 5-plet (which is automatically stable), or a wino-like 3-plet. We revisit the computation of the cosmological relic abundance including non-perturbative corrections. The predicted mass of e.g. the 5-plet increases from 4.4 TeV to 10 TeV, and indirect detection rates are enhanced by 2 orders of magni… ▽ More

Sterile neutrinos, lepton asymmetries, primordial elements: how much of each?
Abstract: We investigate quantitatively the extent to which having a primordial leptonic asymmetry (n_nu \neq n_nubar) relaxes the bounds on light sterile neutrinos imposed by BBN and LSS. We adopt a few assumptions that allow us to solve the neutrino evolution equations over a broad range of mixing parameters and asymmetries. For the general cases of sterile mixing with the electron or muon neutrino, we… ▽ More

Cosmology of neutrinos and extra light particles after WMAP3
Abstract: We study how present data probe standard and non-standard properties of neutrinos and the possible existence of new light particles, freely-streaming or interacting, among themselves or with neutrinos. Our results include: sum m_nu < 0.40 eV at 99.9% C.L.; that extra massless particles have abundance Delta N_nu = 2 pm 1 if freely-streaming and Delta N_nu = 0 pm 1.3 if interacting; that 3 interac… ▽ More

Minimal Dark Matter
Abstract: A few multiplets that can be added to the SM contain a lightest neutral component which is automatically stable and provides allowed DM candidates with a non-standard phenomenology. Thanks to coannihilations, a successful thermal abundance is obtained for well defined DM masses. The best candidate seems to be a SU(2)_L fermion quintuplet with mass 4.4 TeV, accompanied by a charged partner 166 Me… ▽ More

Spectra of neutrinos from dark matter annihilations
Abstract: We study the fluxes of neutrinos from annihilations of dark matter particles in the Sun and the Earth. We give the spectra of all neutrino flavors for the main known annihilation channels: nu-antinu, b-bbar, tau-taubar, c-cbar, light quarks, ZZ, W^+W^-. We present the appropriate formalism for computing the combined effect of oscillations, absorptions, nu_tau-regeneration. Total rates are modifi… ▽ More

Mass Varying Neutrinos in the Sun
Abstract: In this work we study the phenomenological consequences of the dependence of mass varying neutrinos on the neutrino density in the Sun, which we precisely compute in each point along the neutrino trajectory. We find that a generic characteristic of these scenarios is that they establish a connection between the effective Delta m^2 in the Sun and the absolute neutrino mass scale. This does not le… ▽ More

Sterile Neutrinos in astrophysical and cosmological sauce
Abstract: The study of sterile neutrinos has recently acquired a different flavor: being now excluded as the dominant solution for the solar or atmospheric conversions, sterile neutrinos, still attractive for many other reasons, have thus become even more elusive. The present relevant questions are: which subdominant role can they have? Where (and how) can they show up? Cosmology and supernovae turn out t… ▽ More

Probing oscillations into sterile neutrinos with cosmology, astrophysics and experiments
Abstract: We perform a thorough analysis of oscillation signals generated by one extra sterile neutrino, extending previous analyses done in simple limiting cases and including the effects of established oscillations among active neutrinos. Signatures of Supernova Neutrino Oscillations into Extra Dimensions
Abstract: We consider the mixing of muon and tau neutrinos with sterile fermion fields propagating in extra dimensions in the context of core collapse supernova physics, extending the analysis of the electron neutrino case done in a previous work. We show that the potentially dramatic modifications to the supernova evolution are prevented by a mechanism of feedback, so that no severe bounds on the paramet… ▽ More

Bulk neutrinos and core collapse supernovae
Abstract: We discuss the phenomenology of neutrino mixing with bulk fermions in the context of supernova physics. The constraints on the parameter space following from the usual energy loss argument can be relaxed by four orders of magnitude due to a feedback mechanism that takes place in a broad region of the parameter space. Such a mechanism also affects the protoneutron star evolution through a non tri… ▽ More
