Measurement of associated production of Z bosons with charm quark jets in ppbar collisions at sqrt(s)=1.96 TeV

Jets have transverse momentum p_{T}>20 GeV and pseudorapidity |η|<2.5. Updated Combination of CDF and D0 Searches for Standard Model Higgs Boson Production with up to 10.0 fb-1 of Data

Abstract: We combine results from the CDF and D0 Collaborations on direct searches for the standard model (SM) Higgs boson (H) in ppbar collisions at the Fermilab Tevatron at sqrt(s)=1.96 TeV. Compared to the previous Tevatron Higgs boson search combination, more data have been included, additional channels have been incorporated, and some previously used channels have been reanalyzed to gain sensitivity. S… ▽ More We combine results from the CDF and D0 Collaborations on direct searches for the standard model (SM) Higgs boson (H) in ppbar collisions at the Fermilab Tevatron at sqrt(s)=1.96 TeV. Compared to the previous Tevatron Higgs boson search combination, more data have been included, additional channels have been incorporated, and some previously used channels have been reanalyzed to gain sensitivity. Searches are carried out for hypothesized Higgs boson masses between 100 and 200 GeV/c^2. With up to 10 fb-1 of luminosity analyzed, the 95% C.L. median expected upper limits on Higgs boson production are factors of 0.89, 1.08, and 0.48 times the values of the SM cross section for Higgs bosons of mass m_H=115 GeV/c^2, 125 GeV/c^2, and 165 GeV/c^2, respectively. In the absence of signal, we expect to exclude the regions 100<m_{H}<120 GeV/c^2 and 139<m_H<184 GeV/c^2. We exclude, at the 95% CL, two regions: 100<m_H<103 GeV/c^2, and 147<m_H<180 GeV/c^2. There is a significant excess of data events with respect to the background estimation in the mass range 115<m_H<140 GeV/c^2, which causes our observed limits to not be as stringent as expected. At m_H=120 GeV/c^2, the p-value for a background fluctuation to produce this excess is \sim1.5x10^-3, corresponding to a local significance of 3.0 standard deviations. The global significance for such an excess anywhere in the full mass range investigated is approximately 2.5 standard deviations. We also combine separately searches for H to bb and H to WW. We find that the excess is concentrated in the H to bb channel, appearing in the searches over a broad range of m_H. The maximum local significance of 3.2 standard deviations corresponds to a global significance of approximately 2.9 standard deviations. Our results in the H to WW channels are also consistent with the possible presence of a low-mass Higgs boson. △ Less

Wgamma production and limits on anomalous WWgamma couplings in ppbar collisions

Abstract: We measure the cross section and the difference in rapidities between photons and charged leptons for inclusive W -> lnu+gamma production in egamma and mugamma final states. Using data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 4.2 fb-1 collected with the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider, the cross section multiplied by the branching fraction for the process ppbar -> Wgamma+X -> lnu… ▽ More We measure the cross section and the difference in rapidities between photons and charged leptons for inclusive W -> lnu+gamma production in egamma and mugamma final states. Precise measurement of the top-quark mass from lepton+jets events at D0

Dependence of the $t\bar{t}$ production cross section on the transverse momentum of the top quark

Search for single top quarks in the tau+jets channel using 4.8 fb$^{-1}$ of $p\bar{p}$ collision data

Abstract: We present the first direct search for single top quark production using tau leptons. The search is based on 4.8 fb$^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity collected in $p\bar{p}$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}$=1.96 TeV with the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. We select events with a final state including an isolated tau lepton, missing transverse energy, two or three jets, one or two of them… ▽ More We present the first direct search for single top quark production using tau leptons. We use a multivariate technique to discriminate signal from background. The number of events observed in data in this final state is consistent with the signal plus background expectation. This measurement allows a gain of 4% in expected sensitivity for the observation of single top production when combining it with electron+jets and muon+jets channels already published by the D0 collaboration with 2.3 fb$^{-1}$ of data. Search for a resonance decaying into WZ boson pairs in $p\bar{p}$ collisions

Abstract: We present the first search for an electrically charged resonance $W^\prime$ decaying to a WZ boson pair using 4.1 fb$^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity collected with the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron $p\bar{p}$ collider. The WZ pairs are reconstructed through their decays into three charged leptons ($\ell=e,μ$). Combined CDF and D0 Upper Limits on Standard Model Higgs-Boson Production with 2.1 - 5.4 fb-1 of Data

Abstract: We combine results from CDF and D0 on direct searches for a standard model (SM) Higgs boson (H) in ppbar collisions at the Fermilab Tevatron at sqrt(s)=1.96 TeV. Compared to the previous Tevatron Higgs search combination more data have been added and some previously used channels have been reanalyzed to gain sensitivity. We use the latest parton distribution functions and gg->H theoretical cross… ▽ More We combine results from CDF and D0 on direct searches for a standard model (SM) Higgs boson (H) in ppbar collisions at the Fermilab Tevatron at sqrt(s)=1.96 TeV. With 2.0-4.8 fb-1 of data analyzed at CDF, and 2.1-5.4 fb-1 at D0, the 95% C.L. upper limits on Higgs boson production are a factor of 2.70 (0.94) times the SM cross section for a Higgs boson mass of m_H=115 (165) GeV/c^2. The corresponding median upper limits expected in the absence of Higgs boson production are 1.78 (0.89). The mass range excluded at 95% C.L. for a SM Higgs is 163<m_H<166 GeV/c^2, with an expected exclusion of 159<m_H<168 GeV/c^2. △ Less

We find our data co… ▽ More A search for pair production of first-generation leptoquarks LQ is performed with data collected by the D0 experiment in p pbar collisions at sqrt(s)=1.96 TeV at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. In a sample of data corresponding to ~1 fb-1, the search has been performed on the final states with two electrons and two jets or one electron, two jets and missing transverse energy. We find our data consistent with standard model expectations. The results are combined with those found in a previous analysis of events with two jets and missing transverse energy to obtain scalar LQ mass limits. We set 95% C.L. lower limits on a scalar LQ mass of 299 GeV, 284 GeV and 216 GeV for beta=1, beta=0.5 and beta=0.02 respectively, where beta is the LQ branching ratio in the eq channel. This improves the results obtained with a lower luminosity sample from Run II of the Tevatron. Lower limits on vector LQ masses with different couplings from 357 GeV to 464 GeV for beta=0.5 are also set using this analysis. △ Less

Observation of Single Top-Quark Production

Using lepton+tau events only, we measure: σ_ttbar \times B(ttbar to ltau bbbar) = 0.13 +0.09-0.08 (stat) +0.06-0.06 (syst) +0.02-0.02 (lumi) pb. Comparing the measured cross section as a function of the mass of the top quark with a partial next-to-next-to leading order Quantum Chromodynamics theoretical prediction, we extract a mass of the top quark of 171.5 +9.9-8.8 GeV, in agreement with direct measurements. △ Less

Improved W boson mass measurement with the D0 detector

Abstract: We have measured the W boson mass using the D0 detector and a data sample of 82 pb^-1 from the Tevatron collider. This measurement used W -> e nu decays, where the electron is close to a boundary of a central electromagnetic calorimeter module. Such 'edge' electrons have not been used in any previous D0 analysis, and represent a 14% increase in the W boson sample size. For these electrons, new r… ▽ More We have measured the W boson mass using the D0 detector and a data sample of 82 pb^-1 from the Tevatron collider. This measurement used W -> e nu decays, where the electron is close to a boundary of a central electromagnetic calorimeter module. Such 'edge' electrons have not been used in any previous D0 analysis, and represent a 14% increase in the W boson sample size. For these electrons, new response and resolution parameters are determined, and revised backgrounds and underlying event energy flow measurements are made. When the current measurement is combined with previous D0 W boson mass measurements, we obtain M_W = 80.483 +/- 0.084 GeV. The 8% improvement from the previous D0 measurement is primarily due to the improved determination of the response parameters for non-edge electrons using the sample of Z bosons with non-edge and edge electrons. △ Less

We determine the calorimeter response and resolution in this region using Z -> ee events. We extract the W boson mass by fitting to the transverse mass and to the electron and neutrino transverse momentum distributions. The result is combined with previous D0 results to obtain an improved measurement of the W boson mass: m_W = 80.483 +- 0.084 GeV. △ Less

Probing Color Coherency Using High pT W Events at the TEVATRON
