Aharonov-Bohm Effect in Generalized Electrodynamics
Abstract: The Aharonov-Bohm (AB) effect is considered in the context of Generalized Electrodynamics (GE) by Podolsky and Bopp. GE is the only extension to Maxwell electrodynamics that is locally {\normalsize{}U(1)}-gauge invariant, admits linear field equations and contains higher-order derivatives of the vector potential. GE admits both massless and massive modes for the photon. We recover the ordinary qua… ▽ More

Shadows of black holes at cosmological distances in the co-varying physical couplings framework
Abstract: The co-varying physical couplings (CPC) framework states that physical parameters like the speed of light in vacuum $c$, the Newtonian constant $G$, and the cosmological constant $Λ$ could indeed vary with the spacetime coordinates $x^μ$. Here, we assume a temporal variation, that is, $c(t),G(t)$ and $Λ(t)$. We show that the McVittie spacetime, a black hole in an expanding universe, is a solution… ▽ More

Viable wormhole solution in Bopp-Podolsky electrodynamics
Abstract: Following a recent approach in which the gravitational field equations in curved spacetimes were presented in the Bopp--Podolsky electrodynamics, we obtained an approximate and spherically symmetric wormhole solution in this context. The calculations were carried out up to the linear approximation in both the spacetime geometry and the radial electric field. The solution presents a new parameter t… ▽ More

Higher order derivative operators as quantum corrections
Abstract: In this paper we propose a non-minimal, and ghost free, coupling between the gauge field and the fermionic one from which we obtain, perturbatively, terms with higher order derivatives as quantum corrections to the photon effective action in the low energy regime. We calculate the one-loop effective action of the photon field and show that, in addition to the Euler-Heisenberg terms, the well known… ▽ More

Introduction to Regge Calculus for Gravitation
Abstract: With the theory of general relativity, Einstein abolished the interpretation of gravitation as a force and associated it to the curvature of spacetime. Tensorial calculus and differential geometry are the mathematical resources necessary to study the spacetime manifold in the context of Einstein's theory. In 1961, Tullio Regge published a work on which he uses the old idea of triangulation of surf… ▽ More

$f\left(R,\nabla_{μ_{1}}R,\dots,\nabla_{μ_{1}}\dots\nabla_{μ_{n}}R\right)$ theories of gravity in Einstein frame: A higher order modified Starobinsky inflation model in the Palatini approach
Abstract: In Cuzinatto et al. [Phys. Rev. Bopp-Podolsky black holes and the no-hair theorem
Abstract: Bopp-Podolsky electrodynamics is generalized to curved space-times. The equations of motion are written for the case of static spherically symmetric black holes and their exterior solutions are analyzed using Bekenstein's method. It is shown the solutions split-up into two parts, namely a non-homogeneous (asymptotically massless) regime and a homogeneous (asymptotically massive) sector which is nu… ▽ More

Non-perturbative Solution to the Quantum Interaction Problem via Schwinger's Action Principle
Abstract: The most realistic situations in quantum mechanics involve the interaction between two or more systems. In the most of reliable models, the form and structure of the interactions generate differential equations which are, in the most of cases, almost impossible to solve exactly. In this paper, using the Schwinger Quantum Action Principle, we found the time transformation function that solves exact… ▽ More

Scalar-multi-tensorial equivalence for higher order $f\left( R,\nabla_μ R,\nabla_{μ_{1}}\nabla_{μ_{2}}R,...,\nabla_{μ_{1}}...\nabla_{μ_{n} }R\right)$ theories of gravity
Abstract: The equivalence between theories depending on the derivatives of $R$, i.e. $f\left( R,\nabla R,...,\nabla^{n}R\right) $, and scalar-multi-tensorial theories is verified. The analysis is done in both metric and Palatini formalisms. It is shown that $f\left( R,\nabla R,...,\nabla^{n}R\right) $ theories are equivalent to scalar-multi-tensorial ones resembling Brans-Dicke theories with kinetic terms… ▽ More

Non-Adiabatic Solution to the Time Dependent Quantum Harmonic Oscillator
Abstract: Using Schwinger Variational Principle we solve the problem of quantum harmonic oscillator with time dependent frequency. Here, we do not take the usual approach which implicitly assumes an adiabatic behavior for the frequency. Instead, we propose a new solution where the frequency only needs continuity in its first derivative or to have a finite set of removable discontinuities.
