Orbital-free density functional theory (OF-DFT) for real-space systems has historically depended on Lagrange optimization techniques, primarily due to the inability of previously proposed electron density ansatze to ensure the normalization constraint. This study illustrates how leveraging contemporary generative models, notably normalizing flows (NFs), can surmount this challenge. We pioneer a Lagrangian-free optimization framework by employing these machine learning models as ansatze for the electron density. This novel approach also integrates cutting-edge variational inference techniques and equivariant deep learning models, offering an innovative alternative to the OF-DFT problem. We demonstrate the versatility of our framework by simulating a one-dimensional diatomic system, LiH, and comprehensive simulations of H$_2$, LiH, and H$_2$O molecules. The inherent flexibility of NFs facilitates initialization with promolecular densities, markedly enhancing the efficiency of the optimization process.

Orbital-free density functional theory (OF-DFT) provides an alternative approach for calculating the molecular electronic energy, relying solely on the electron density. In OF-DFT, both the ground-state density is optimized variationally to minimize the total energy functional while satisfying the normalization constraint. In this work, we introduce a novel approach by parameterizing the electronic density with a normalizing flow ansatz, which is also optimized by minimizing the total energy functional. Our model successfully replicates the electronic density for a diverse range of chemical systems, including a one-dimensional diatomic molecule, specifically Lithium hydride with varying interatomic distances, as well as comprehensive simulations of hydrogen and water molecules, all conducted in Cartesian space.

Abstract:
In this work we consider the Einstein-Hilbert action in the first order order formalism coupled to Dirac spinors. From the little group symmetry, we derive the corresponding Bargmann-Wigner current which is conserved but not gauge invariant. Therefore, we construct a gauge invariant version of the Bargmann-Wigner current which is not conserved but potentially observable. Because it is not conserve…

Because it is not conserved we split this current into fermionic and gravitational sectors and derive their broken continuity equations for each sector. These equations compose the master equations governing the interaction of spin-currents with gravity. Furthermore, we derive the corresponding master equations in the weak field approximation.

Abstract:
We present a new analysis of the stability of extended Floater-Hormann interpolants, in which both noisy data and rounding errors are considered. Contrary to what is claimed in the current literature, we show that the Lebesgue constant of these interpolants can grow exponentially with the parameters that define them, and we emphasize the importance of using the proper interpretation of the Lebesgu…

We present a new analysis of the stability of extended Floater-Hormann interpolants, in which both noisy data and rounding errors are considered. Contrary to what is claimed in the current literature, we show that the Lebesgue constant of these interpolants can grow exponentially with the parameters that define them, and we emphasize the importance of using the proper interpretation of the Lebesgue constant in order to estimate correctly the effects of noise and rounding errors. We also present a simple condition that implies the backward instability of the barycentric formula used to implement extended interpolants. Our experiments show that extended interpolants mentioned in the literature satisfy this condition and, therefore, the formula used to implement them is not backward stable. Finally, we explain that the extrapolation step is a significant source of numerical instability for extended interpolants based on extrapolation.

Abstract:
We analyze the effects of rounding errors in the nodes on barycentric interpolation. These errors are particularly relevant for the first barycentric formula with the Chebyshev points of the second kind. Here, we propose a method for reducing them.
