Local control on quaternionic Heisenberg group of dimension $7$
Abstract: We describe the quaternionic Heisenberg group in the dimension $7$ as a matrix group. We study the local control of a compatible left-invariant control system. We describe the impact of symmetries of the corresponding sub-Riemannian structure on the optimality of geodesics.

Sub-Riemannian optimal synthesis for Carnot groups with the structure of a path geometry
Abstract: This paper explicitly constructs the complete set of optimal sub-Riemannian geodesics starting from a point for certain Carnot groups of step two. These are groups of dimension 2n+1 equipped with a left-invariant distribution of dimension n+1 such that at each point, there is a unique direction defining a nontrivial Lie bracket. A suitable explicit expression of geodesics, together with symmetries… ▽ More

First BGG operators on homogeneous conformal geometries
Abstract: We study first BGG operators and their solutions on homogeneous conformal geometries. We focus on conformal Killing tensors, conformal Killing--Yano forms and twistor spinors in particular. We develop an invariant calculus that allows us to find solutions explicitly using only algebraic computations. We also discuss applications to holonomy reductions and conserved quantities of conformal circles.… ▽ More

Note on geometric algebras and control problems with SO(3)-symmetries
Abstract: We study the role of symmetries in control systems through the geometric algebra approach. We discuss two specific control problems on Carnot groups of step $2$ invariant with respect to the action of $SO(3)$. We understand the geodesics as the curves in suitable geometric algebras which allows us to assess a new algorithm for the local control.

On symmetries of a sub--Riemannian structure with growth vector $(4,7)$
Abstract: We study symmetries of specific left--invariant sub--Riemannian structure with filtration $(4,7)$ and their impact on sub--Riemannian geodesics of corresponding control problem. We show that there are two very different types of geodesics, they either do not intersect the fixed point set of symmetries or are contained in this set for all times. We use the symmetry reduction to study properties of… ▽ More

Special metrics and scales in parabolic geometry
Abstract: Given a parabolic geometry, it is sometimes possible to find special metrics characterised by some invariant conditions. In conformal geometry, for example, one asks for an Einstein metric in the conformal class. Einstein metrics have the special property that their geodesics are distinguished, as unparameterised curves, in the sense of parabolic geometry. This property characterises the Einstein… ▽ More

On symmetric CR geometries of hypersurface type
Abstract: We study non-degenerate CR geometries of hypersurface type that are symmetric in the sense that, at each point, there is a CR transformation reversing the CR distribution at that point. We show that such geometries are either flat or homogeneous. Submaximally Symmetric Almost Quaternionic Structures
Abstract: The symmetry dimension of a geometric structure is the dimension of its symmetry algebra. We investigate symmetries of almost quaternionic structures of quaternionic dimension $n$. The maximal possible symmetry is realized by the quaternionic projective space $\mathbb{H}P^n$, which is flat and has the symmetry algebra $\mathfrak{sl}(n+1,\mathbb{H})$ of dimension $4n^2+8n+3$. For non-flat almost qu… ▽ More

Local Generalized Symmetries and Locally Symmetric Parabolic Geometries
Abstract: We investigate (local) automorphisms of parabolic geometries that generalize geodesic symmetries. We show that many types of parabolic geometries admit at most one generalized geodesic symmetry at a point with non-zero harmonic curvature. Moreover, we show that if there is exactly one symmetry at each point, then the parabolic geometry is a generalization of an affine (locally) symmetric space.
