The magnetic subsystem of nabokoite, KCu$_7$(TeO$_4$)(SO$_4$)$_5$Cl, is constituted by copper ions forming a buckled square kagomé lattice decorated by quasi-isolated ions. This combination determines peculiar physical properties of this compound evidenced in electron spin resonance (ESR) spectroscopy, dielectric permittivity $\varepsilon$, magnetization $M$ and specific heat $C_p$ measurements. At lowering temperature, the magnetic susceptibility $χ= M/H$ passes through a broad hump inherent for low-dimensional magnetic systems at about 150 K and a sharp peak at antiferromagnetic phase transition at $T_N = 3.2 $K. The $C_p(T,H)$ curves demonstrate additional peak-like anomaly at $T_{peak}= 5.7$K robust to magnetic field. The latter can be ascribed to low-lying singlet excitations filling the singlet-triplet gap in magnetic excitation spectrum of the square kagomé lattice [J.Richter, O.Derzhko and J.Schnack, Phys. Rev. B \textbf{105} (2022) 144427]. ESR spectroscopy provides indications that antiferromagnetic structure below $T_N$ is non-collinear. Separate issue is the observation of antiferroelectric-type behavior in $\varepsilon$ at low temperatures, which tentatively reduces the symmetry and partially lifts frustration of magnetic interactions of decorating copper ions with buckled square kagomé lattice. These complex thermodynamic and resonant properties signal the presence of two weakly coupled magnetic subsystems in nabokoite, namely a spin-liquid in square kagomé lattice layers and an antiferromagnet represented by decorating ions.

The manganese tellurate Li2MnTeO6 consists of trigonal spin lattices made up of Mn4+ (d3, S = 3/2) ions. The magnetic properties of this compound were characterized by several experimental techniques, which include magnetic susceptibility, specific heat, dielectric permittivity, electron spin resonance (ESR), nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and neutron powder diffraction (NPD) measurements, and by density functional calculations (DFT). The magnetic susceptibility chi(T) demonstrates very unusual behavior. It isdescribed by the Curie-Weiss law at high temperature with Curie-Weiss temperature of Theta = -74 K, exhibits no obvious anomaly indicative of a long-range magnetic ordering at low magnetic fields. At high magnetic fields, however, the character of chi(T) changes showing a maximum at about 9 K. That this maximum of chi(T) reflects the onset of an antiferromagnetic order was confirmed by specific heat measurements, which exhibit a clear lambda-type anomaly at TN around 8.5 K even at zero magnetic field, and by 7Li NMR and dielectric permittivity measurements. The magnetic structure of Li2MnTeO6, determined by neutron powder diffraction measurements at 1.6 K, is described by the 120-degree non-collinear spin structure with the propagation vector k = (1/3, 1/3, 0). Consistent with this finding, the spin exchange interactions evaluated for Li2MnTeO6 by density functional calculations are dominated by the nearest-neighbor antiferromagnetic exchange within each triangular spin lattice. This spin lattice is strongly spin frustrated with f = |Theta|/TN around 8 and exhibits a two-dimensional magnetic character in a broad temperature range above TN.

MnSnTeO6, a new chiral antiferromagnet, was prepared both by topotactic transformation of the metastable rosiaite-type polymorph and by direct synthesis from coprecipitated hydroxides. Its structure, static and dynamic magnetic properties were studied comprehensively both experimentally (through X-ray and neutron powder diffraction, magnetization, specific heat, dielectric permittivity and ESR techniques) and theoretically (by means of ab initio density functional theory (DFT) calculations within the spin-polarized generalized gradient approximation). MnSnTeO6 is isostructural with MnSb2O6 (space group P321) and does not show any structural transition between 3 and 300 K. The magnetic susceptibility and specific heat exhibit an antiferromagnetic ordering at TN=9.8 K, which is confirmed by low-temperature neutron data. At the same time, the thermodynamic parameters demonstrate an additional anomaly on the temperature dependences of magnetic susceptibility chi(T), specific heat Cp(T) and dielectric permittivity epsilon(T) at T*=4.9 K, which is characterized by significant temperature hysteresis. Clear enhancement of the dielectric permittivity at T* is most likely to reflect the coupling of dielectric and magnetic subsystems leading to development of electric polarization. It was established that the ground state of MnSnTeO6 is stabilized by seven exchange parameters, and neutron diffraction revealed incommensurate magnetic structure with propagation vector k= (0, 0, 0.183) analogous to that of MnSb2O6. Ab initio DFT calculations demonstrate that the strongest exchange coupling occurs between planes along diagonals. All exchange parameters are antiferromagnetic and reveal moderate frustration.

The paper presents some weak compactness criterion for a subset $M$ of the set $\mathfrak{RM}_b(T,\mathcal{G})$ of all positive bounded Radon measures on a Hausdorff topological space $(T,\mathcal{G})$ similar to the Prokhorov criterion for a complete separable metric space. Since for a general topological space the classical space $C_b(T,\mathcal{G})$ of all bounded continuous functions on $T$ can be trivial and so does not separate points and closed sets, instead of $C_b(T,\mathcal{G})$-weak compactness we consider $S(T,\mathcal{G})$-weak compactness with respect to the new uniformly closed linear space $S(T,\mathcal{G})$ of all (symmetrizable) metasemicontinuous functions.

The paper is devoted to construction of some closed inductive sequence of models of the generalized second-order Dedekind theory of real numbers with exponentially increasing powers. These models are not isomorphic whereas all models of the standard second-order Dedekind theory are. The main idea in passing to generalized models is to consider instead of superstructures with the single common set-theoretical equality and the single common set-theoretical belonging superstructures with several generalized equalities and several generalized belongings for first and second orders. The basic tools for the presented construction are the infraproduct of collection of mathematical systems different from the factorized Loś ultraproduct and the corresponding generalized infrafiltration theorem. As its auxiliary corollary we obtain the generalized compactness theorem for the generalized second-order language.

While no anomaly has been detected in dielectric property of NaCuFe2(VO4)3, the step-like feature precedes a sharp peak in permittivity epsilon at TN in LiCuFe2(VO4)3. These data suggest the spin-order-induced ferroelectricity in Li compound and no such thing in Na compound. On the contrary, the Moessbauer spectroscopy study suggests similarly wide distribution of hyperfine field in between T* and TN for both the compounds. The first principles calculations also provide similar values for magnetic exchange interaction parameters in both compounds. These observations lead us to conclude on the crucial role of alkali metals mobility within the channels of the crystal structure needed to be considered in explaining the improper multiferroicity in one compound and its absence in other.

We performed Raman studies and a dielectric characterization of the pseudo-kagome Cu3Bi(SeO3)2O2X (X = Cl, Br). These compounds share competing nearest-neighbour ferromagnetic exchange and frustrating next-nearest-neighbour antiferromagnetic exchange as well as highly noncollinear magnetic ground state. However, at low temperature they differ with respect to the existence of inversion symmetry. For both compounds there exists a pronounced interplay of polar phonon modes with quantum magnetic fluctuations. A novel Raman mode appears for temperatures below the Neel temperature with a Fano lineshape and an enormous intensity that exceeds most of the phonon lines. We discuss a possible contribution of longitudinal magnons to this signal. In contrast, one magnon scattering based on linear transvers magnons is excluded based on a symmetry analysis of spin wave representations and Raman tensor calculations. There exists evidence that in these pseudo-kagome compounds magnetic quantum fluctuations carry an electric dipole moment. Our data as well as a comparison with previous far-infrared spectra allow us to conclude that Cu3Bi(SeO3)2O2Cl changes its symmetry most likely from Pmmn to P21mn with a second order structural phase transition at T*=120 K and becomes multiferroic. Cu3Bi(SeO3)2O2Br represents an interesting counter part as it does not show this instability and stays inversion symmetric down to lowest temperatures, investigated.

Quantum fluctuations in quasi-one-dimensional superconducting channels leading to spontaneous changes of the phase of the order parameter by $2π$, alternatively called quantum phase slips (QPS), manifest themselves as the finite resistance well below the critical temperature of thin superconducting nanowires and the suppression of persistent currents in tiny superconducting nanorings. Here we report the experimental evidence that in a current-biased superconducting nanowire the same QPS process is responsible for the insulating state -- the Coulomb blockade. When exposed to RF radiation, the internal Bloch oscillations can be synchronized with the external RF drive leading to formation of quantized current steps on the I-V characteristic. The effects originate from the fundamental quantum duality of a Josephson junction and a superconducting nanowire governed by QPS -- the QPS junction (QPSJ).
