Feature Extraction for Generative Medical Imaging Evaluation: New Evidence Against an Evolving Trend
Abstract: Fréchet Inception Distance (FID) is a widely used metric for assessing synthetic image quality. It relies on an ImageNet-based feature extractor, making its applicability to medical imaging unclear. A recent trend is to adapt FID to medical imaging through feature extractors trained on medical images. Our study challenges this practice by demonstrating that ImageNet-based extractors are more consi… ▽ More

Strichartz inequalities: some recent developments
Abstract: Strichartz inequalities, originating from Fourier restriction theory, play a central role in the analysis of dispersive partial differential equations. They serve as a cornerstone for many subsequent developments. We survey some of them in memory of Strichartz, highlighting connections to recent developments in Fourier decoupling.

Dimensionality Reduction for Improving Out-of-Distribution Detection in Medical Image Segmentation
Abstract: Clinically deployed segmentation models are known to fail on data outside of their training distribution. As these models perform well on most cases, it is imperative to detect out-of-distribution (OOD) images at inference to protect against automation bias. The Neumann problem on the Clifford torus in $\mathbb{S}^3$
Abstract: We discuss the solution of the Neumann problem associated with the CR Yamabe operator on a subset $Ω$ of the CR manifold $\mathbb{S}^3$ bounded by the Clifford torus $Σ$. We also discuss the Yamabe-type problem of finding a contact form on $Ω$ which has zero Tanaka--Webster scalar curvature and for which $Σ$ has constant $p$-mean curvature.

A new type of superorthogonality
Abstract: We provide a simple criterion on a family of functions that implies a square function estimate on $L^p$ for every even integer $p \geq 2$. This defines a new type of superorthogonality that is verified by checking a less restrictive criterion than any other type of superorthogonality that is currently known.

Bourgain-Brezis-Mironescu Convergence via Triebel-Lizorkin Spaces
Abstract: We study a convergence result of Bourgain--Brezis--Mironescu (BBM) using Triebel-Lizorkin spaces. It is well known that as spaces $W^{s,p} = F^{s}_{p,p}$, and $H^{1,p} = F^{1}_{p,2}$. When $s\to 1$, the $F^{s}_{p,p}$ norm becomes the $F^{1}_{p,p}$ norm but BBM showed that the $W^{s,p}$ norm becomes the $H^{1,p} = F^{1}_{p,2}$ norm. The tangential Cauchy-Riemann complex on the Heisenberg group Via Conformal Invariance
Abstract: The Heisenberg group $\mathbb{H}^1$ is known to be conformally equivalent to the CR sphere $\mathbb{S}^3$ minus a point. We use this fact, together with the knowledge of the tangential Cauchy-Riemann operator on the compact CR manifold $\mathbb{S}^3$, to solve the corresponding operator on $\mathbb{H}^1$.

A subelliptic Bourgain-Brezis inequality
Abstract: We prove an approximation lemma on (stratified) homogeneous groups that allows one to approximate a function in the non-isotropic Sobolev space $\dot{NL}^{1,Q}$ by $L^{\infty}$ functions, generalizing a result of Bourgain-Brezis \cite{MR2293957}. We then use this to obtain a Gagliardo-Nirenberg inequality for $\bar{\partial}_b$ on the Heisenberg group $\mathbb{H}^n$.

Wave equations associated to Liouville systems and constant mean curvature equations
Abstract: We study the wave analog of the Liouville equation and the constant mean curvature equations in 2 space dimensions, which are energy critical. We exhibit a blow-up criteria for the former using tools from conformal geometry, and we exhibit finite time blow-up for the latter under suitable assumptions on the initial data.

An improved Strichartz estimate for systems with divergence free data
Abstract: Using the div-curl inequalities of Bourgain-Brezis [?MR2057026] and van Schaftingen [?MR2078071], we prove an improved Strichartz estimate for systems of inhomogeneous wave and Schrodinger equations, for which the inhomogeneity is a divergence-free vector field at each given time. The novelty of the result is that one can allow $L^1_x$ norms of the inhomogeneity in the right hand side of the estim… ▽ More

Sobolev inequalities for $(0,q)$ forms on CR manifolds of finite type
Abstract: Let $M^{2n+1}$ ($n \geq 2$) be a compact pseudoconvex CR manifold of finite commutator type whose $\dbarb$ has closed range in $L^2$ and whose Levi form has comparable eigenvalues. We prove a sharp $L^1$ Sobolev inequality for the $\dbarb$ complex for $(0,q)$ forms when $q \ne 1$ nor $n-1$. We also prove an analogous $L^1$ inequality when $M$ satisfies condition $Y(q)$. The main technical ingred… ▽ More
