We present a supersymmetric solution to the strong CP problem based on spontaneous CP violation which simultaneously addresses the affects coming from supersymmetry breaking. The generated CP violating phase is communicated to the quark sector by interacting with a heavy quark a la Nelson-Barr. The Majorana mass of the right handed neutrinos is generated by interactions with the CP violating sector and so does not conserve CP. This gives the neutrino sector a non-trivial CP violating phase which can then generate the baryon asymmetry of the universe through leptogeneis. The problematic phase in the supersymmetry breaking parameters are suppressed by appealing to a particular gauge mediation model which naturally suppresses the phases of the tree-level gluino mass. This suppression plus the fact that in gauge mediation all loop generated flavor and CP violation is of the minimal flavor violation variety allows for a complete and consistent solution to the strong CP problem.

A simple model for the explanation of the muon anomalous magnetic moment was proposed by the present authors within the context of the minimal supersymmetric standard model [1607.05705, 1608.06618]: "Higgs-anomaly mediation". In the setup, squarks, sleptons, and gauginos are massless at tree-level, but the Higgs doublets get large negative soft supersymmetry (SUSY) breaking masses squared $m_{H_u}^2 \simeq m_{H_d}^2 < 0$ at a certain energy scale, $M_{\rm inp}$. The sfermion masses are radiatively generated by anomaly mediation and Higgs-loop effects, and gaugino masses are solely determined by anomaly mediation. Consequently, the smuons and bino are light enough to explain the muon $g-2$ anomaly while the third generation sfermions are heavy enough to explain the observed Higgs boson mass. The scenario avoids the SUSY flavor problem as well as various cosmological problems, and is consistent with the radiative electroweak symmetry breaking. In this paper, we show that, although the muon $g-2$ explanation in originally proposed Higgs-anomaly mediation with $M_{\rm inp}\sim 10^{16}\,$GeV is slightly disfavored by the latest LHC data, the muon $g-2$ can still be explained at $1σ$ level when Higgs mediation becomes important at the intermediate scale, $M_{\rm inp} \sim 10^{12}\,$GeV. The scenario predicts light SUSY particles that can be fully covered by the LHC and future collider experiments. We also provide a simple realization of $m_{H_u}^2 \simeq m_{H_d}^2 < 0$ at the intermediate scale.

The democratic mass matrix is an intriguing possibility for explaining the observed fermion mixings due to its inherent hierarchical mass eigenvalues and large mixing angles. Nevertheless, two of the three mass eigenvalues are zero if the flavor democracy is exact, in obvious contradiction with the experimental observations. One possibility is breaking the flavor democracy with anarchical perturbations as we proposed in an earlier work. However, even within the first two generations, the charged fermion masses are also hierarchical which may not be a coincidence. The democratic $\mathbb S^L_3 \times \mathbb S^R_3$ symmetry of the three generations may first be broken down to an intermediate $\mathbb S^L_2 \times \mathbb S^R_2$ symmetry among the first two generations to regulate the sequential hierarchies, followed by random perturbations, that generate the correct size of all measured observables. Unique predictions for neutrinoless double beta decay are also found.

Motivated by LIGO observations, we consider $f_{\textrm{DM}} \simeq 0.01$ as the fraction of DM in PBHs with masses $10 M_{\odot} - 70 M_{\odot}$. In this case, we expect the presence of dressed PBHs after Milky Way halo formation with mini-halo masses peaked around $M_{\textrm{halo}} \sim (50-55) M_{\textrm{PBH}}$. We analyze the effect of tidal forces acting on dressed PBHs within the Milky Way galaxy. In the solar neighborhood, the mini-halos are resistant against tidal disruption from the mean-field potential of the galaxy and encounters with stars, but they undergo a small level of disruption caused by disk shocking. The presence of mini-halos around LIGO-motivated PBHs today could reduce by half the local dark matter background. High-resolution simulations are encouraged. If the proposed scenario is realized, chances of direct detection of DM would decrease.

We present a solution to the strong CP problem, which relies on the horizontal gauge symmetry and CP invariance in a full theory. Similar to other Nelson-Barr type solutions, CP violation in both the strong and weak sectors in the Standard model (SM) is attributed to the condensation of complex scalars $Φ$ in the model. The model is differentiated by others in that it explains the hierarchy in quark-Higgs Yukawa coupling in the SM based on a series of sequential breaking of the horizontal $SU(3)_{f}$ gauge symmetry. The experimental constraint $\overlineθ\lesssim10^{-10}$ requires $<\!\!Φ\!\!>\,\lesssim\,10^{13}-10^{14}{\rm GeV}$ (vacuum expectation value of complex scalars) and $λ\,\lesssim\,10^{-6}$ (scalar quartic coupling). We show that this small coupling is natural in the sense of 'tHooft naturalness. Compared to other models of Nelson-Barr type with CP breaking scale $Λ_{CP}\lesssim10^{8}{\rm GeV}$, our model is more advantageous in terms of consistency with the thermal leptogenesis.

The SU(5)$'$ gauge interaction becomes strong at an intermediate scale and then we obtain a light composite Dirac fermion with U(1)$'$ gauge interaction at the low-energy scale. Its thermal relic can explain the observed amount of dark matter consistently with other cosmological and astrophysical constraints. We discuss that a nonzero kinetic mixing between the U(1)$'$ gauge boson and the Hypercharge gauge boson is allowed and the temperature of the visible sector and the dark matter sector can be equal to each other.

A number of observations of stellar systems show a mild preference for anomalously fast cooling compared with what predicted in the standard theory, which leads to a speculation that there exists an additional energy loss mechanism originated from the emission of axions in stars. We revisit the global analysis of the stellar cooling anomalies by adopting conservative assessments on several systematic uncertainties and find that the significance of the cooling hints becomes weaker but still indicates a non-vanishing axion-electron coupling at around 2.4$\,σ$. With the revised analysis results, we explore the possibility that such excessive energy losses are interpreted in the framework of variant axion models, which require two Higgs doublets and flavor-dependent Peccei-Quinn charge assignments. These models resolve two fundamental issues faced in the traditional KSVZ/DFSZ models by predicting a sizable axion coupling to electrons required to explain the cooling anomalies and at the same time providing a solution to the cosmological domain wall problem. We also find that a specific structure of the axion couplings to electrons and nucleons slightly relaxes the constraint from supernova 1987A and enlarges viable parameter regions compared with the DFSZ models. It is shown that good global fits to the observational data are obtained for axion mass ranges of $0.45\,\mathrm{meV} \lesssim m_a \lesssim 30\,\mathrm{meV}$, and that the predicted parameter regions can be probed in the forthcoming helioscope searches.

We study the phenomenological consequences of the supersymmetric (SUSY) $E_7/SU(5)\times U(1)^3$ non-linear sigma model coupled to supergravity, where the three generations of quark and lepton chiral multiplets appear as (pseudo) Nambu Goldstone (NG) multiplets, that is, the origin of the three families is explained. To break SUSY, we introduce a SUSY breaking field charged under some symmetry avoiding the Polonyi problem. The gaugino mass spectrum is almost uniquely determined when one requires the electroweak vacuum to be (meta)stable: it would be a miracle that the mass difference between the bino and wino turns out to be within $O(1)\%$ at the low energy. Thus, a bino-wino coannihilation is naturally predicted, which can explain the correct relic abundance of dark matter. Moreover, we find that the bottom-tau Yukawa couplings and the gauge couplings are unified up to $O(1)\%$ in most of the viable region. This scenario can be fully tested at the LHC and future collider experiments since the gauginos and some of the pseudo-NG bosons are light. An axion-like multiplet, which can be identified with the QCD axion, is also predicted.

The perfect fit of the matter fields of the Standard Model (SM) into the $SU(5)$ multiplets has strongly supported the idea of the Grand Unified Theory (GUT) for decades. In this paper, we discuss a novel framework which explains why the SM matter fields form the apparently complete $SU(5)$ multiplets. In the new framework, the apparent matter unification inevitably results from chiral $SU(5)$ gauge theory even if the quarks and leptons are not embedded into the common $SU(5)$ multiplets. We call this class of models the "fake GUT". The novel phenomenological prediction of the fake GUT is more variety of the nucleon decay modes than the conventional GUT, which reflects the rich structure of the origin of the matter fields.

We explore the possibility that the muon $g-2$ anomaly and the nature of dark matter can be simultaneously explained within the framework of gaugino mediation, focusing on bino-like dark matter where the observed abundance is obtained via co-annihilations. The minimal model with non-universal gaugino masses is excluded by stau vacuum instability, although this constraint can be somewhat relaxed via the addition of a universal soft scalar mass (or $B-L$ gaugino mediation). A more promising alternative is gaugino+Higgs mediation, which significantly raises the soft masses of the third generation sfermions leading to a split spectrum. In this framework, the muon $g-2$ can be easily explained and the dark matter abundance obtained through either bino-wino or bino-slepton co-annihilations.

A spontaneously broken hidden U(1)$_h$ gauge symmetry can explain both the dark matter stability and the observed relic abundance. In this framework, the light gauge boson can mediate the strong dark matter self-interaction, which addresses astrophysical observations that are hard to explain in collisionless cold dark matter. Motivated by flavoured grand unified theories, we introduce right-handed neutrinos and a flavoured $B - L$ gauge symmetry for the third family U(1)$_{(B-L)_3}$. The unwanted relic of the U(1)$_h$ gauge boson decays into neutrinos via the kinetic mixing with the U(1)$_{(B - L)_3}$ gauge boson. Indirect detection bounds on dark matter are systematically weakened, since dark matter annihilation results in neutrinos. However, the kinetic mixing between U(1)$_{(B - L)_3}$ and U(1)$_Y$ gauge bosons are induced by quantum corrections and leads to an observable signal in direct and indirect detection experiments of dark matter. This model can also explain the baryon asymmetry of the Universe via the thermal leptogenesis. In addition, we discuss the possibility of explaining the lepton flavour universality violation in semi-leptonic $B$ meson decays that is recently found in the LHCb experiment.

The dark matter radiatively decays into neutrino and photon, which can explain the tantalizing hint of the 3.55keV X-ray line excess. Interestingly, the other light fermion can erase the AdS vacuum around the neutrino mass scale in a compactification of the standard model to 3D. This will make the standard model consistent with the AdS-WGC statement that stable non-supersymmetric AdS vacua should be absent.

We discuss this question in view of the recent swampland conjectures. We prove a no-go theorem concerning the modification of the Higgs sector. Moreover, we find that QCD axion is incompatible with the recent swampland conjectures, unless some sophisticated possibilities are considered. We discuss the implications of this result for spontaneous breaking of CP symmetry. We comment on dynamical supersymmetry breaking as well as the issue of multi-valuedness of the potential.

The invisible variant axion models (VAM's) offer a very attractive solution for the strong CP problem without the domain wall problem. We consider the up-type specific variant axion models and examine their compatibility with the muon $g-2$ anomaly and the constraints from lepton flavor universality, several flavor observables, and top quark measurements. We find that the combined $χ^2$ fit favors the parameters $m_A\sim 15$ GeV and $\tanβ\sim 40$, the same as the type-X 2HDM. Moreover, we find that there are no conflict with any flavor observables as long as the mixing angle $ρ_u$ is sufficiently small. In particular, a small nonzero mixing angle $ρ_u \sim π/100$ is slightly favored by the observed $B_s \to μμ$ branching ratio. The up-specific VAM predicts the flavor-violating top rare decay $t\to uA$ followed by $A \to ττ$, which would provide a smoking gun signature at the LHC. We show that current searches of $A$ already impose some constraints on the parameter space but are not sensitive to the most interesting light $m_A$ region. We propose an efficient search strategy that employs di-tau tagging using jet substructure information, and demonstrate that it can enhance the sensitivity on $BR(t \to uA)$, especially in the light $m_A$ region. This model also predicts the flavor-violating decay of heavy Higgs bosons, such as $H \to t u$, that would suppress the $H \to ττ/μμ$ decays. We also examine the up-specific VAM with the muon-specific lepton sector and the down-type specific VAM's as interesting alternative scenarios.

The QCD axion solves the strong CP problem and represents an attractive particle candidate for cold dark matter (CDM). However, quantum fluctuations of the axion field during inflation easily result in large CDM isocurvature perturbations that are in conflict with observations of the cosmic microwave background (CMB). In this paper, we demonstrate how this problem can be solved in low-scale models of hybrid inflation that may emerge from supersymmetric grand unified theories. We consider both F-term hybrid inflation (FHI) and D-term hybrid inflation (DHI) in supergravity, explicitly taking into account the effect of hidden-sector supersymmetry breaking. We discuss the production of cosmic strings and show how the soft terms in the scalar potential readily allow to achieve the correct scalar spectral index. In both cases, we are able to identify large regions in parameter space that are consistent with all constraints. In particular, we find that evading the CDM isocurvature constraint always requires a small Yukawa or gauge coupling of O(10^-3) or smaller. This translates into upper bounds on the gravitino mass of O(10^5) GeV in FHI and O(10^9) GeV in DHI. Our results point to interesting scenarios in well-motivated parameter regions that will be tested in future axion and CMB experiments.

As it originates from the gauged PQ symmetry, the global PQ symmetry can be protected from explicit breaking by quantum gravitational effects once appropriate charge assignment is given. In this paper, we identify the gauged PQ symmetry with the ${B-L}$ symmetry, which is obviously attractive as the ${B-L}$ gauge symmetry is the most authentic extension of the Standard Model. As we will show, a natural $B-L$ charge assignment can be found in a model motivated by the seesaw mechanism in the $SU(5)$ Grand Unified Theory. As a notable feature of this model, it does not require extra $SU(5)$ singlet matter fields other than the right-handed neutrinos to cancel the self and the gravitational anomalies.

We study the breaking of the $S^L_3 \times S^R_3$ symmetry associated with democratic mass matrices to a smaller exchange symmetry $S^L_2 \times S^R_2$ in the charged lepton, up and down quark sectors. An additional breaking of the $S^L_2 \times S^R_2$ symmetry is necessary for the down quark mass matrix, which yields arbitrary perturbations in that sector. On the other hand, we require the neutrino mass matrix to be diagonal at the leading order, with the perturbations left arbitrary due to the absence of any guiding symmetry. We show that the interplay between these two kinds of perturbations reproduces the quark and lepton mass and mixing observables for either hierarchy of neutrino masses.

It is increasingly becoming difficult, within a broad class of supersymmetric models, to satisfactorily explain the discrepancy between the measured $(g-2)_μ$ and its standard model prediction, and at the same time satisfy all the other constraints. In this paper we propose a new scheme of gauge mediation by introducing new soft supersymmetry breaking mass parameters for the Higgs sector in a minimal setup containing only a pair of $({\bf 5} + \bar{\bf 5})$ messenger fields of SU(5). This enables us to explain the $(g-2)_μ$ discrepancy while avoiding all the existing constraints. We also provide possible dynamical origin of the new soft mass parameters. The wino and higgsino weighing below 500 GeV constitute the smoking gun signal at the (high luminosity) LHC.

We have detected six normal-COMs (CH3OH, CH3CHO, CH3CH2CN, CH3OCH3, HCOOCH3, and NH2CHO), one deuterated-COM (CH2DCN), and two deuterated fundamental molecules (D2CO and DNC) toward G34.43+00.24 MM3 HC. None of these lines, except for CH3OH, are detected toward the shocked regions in our data, which suggests that COMs do not originate in shocks. The abundance of the COMs relative to CH3OH in G34.43+00.24 MM3 HC is found to be similar to those in high-mass hot cores, rather than those in hot corinos in low-mass star-forming regions. This result suggests that the physical conditions of the warm-up phase of G34.43+00.24 MM3 HC are similar to those of high-mass sources. On the other hand, the D2CO abundance relative to CH$_3$OH in G34.43+00.24 MM3 HC is higher than that of other hot cores, and seems to be comparable to that of hot corinos. The relatively high D2CO/CH3OH ratio of G34.43+00.24 MM3 HC implies a long cold starless phase of G34.43+00.24 MM3 HC.

A large value of the leptonic Dirac CP phase can arise from broken democracy, where the mass matrices are democratic up to small random perturbations. Such perturbations are a natural consequence of broken residual $\mathbb S_3$ symmetries that dictate the democratic mass matrices at leading order. With random perturbations, the leptonic Dirac CP phase has a higher probability to attain a value around $\pm π/2$. Comparing with the anarchy model, broken democracy can benefit from residual $\mathbb S_3$ symmetries, and it can produce much better, realistic predictions for the mass hierarchy, mixing angles, and Dirac CP phase in both quark and lepton sectors. Our approach provides a general framework for a class of models in which a residual symmetry determines the general features at leading order, and where, in the absence of other fundamental principles, the symmetry breaking appears in the form of random perturbations.

Recently, a simple prescription to embed the global Peccei-Quinn (PQ) symmetry into a gauged $U(1)$ symmetry has been proposed. There, explicit breaking of the global PQ symmetry expected in quantum gravity are highly suppressed due to the gauged PQ symmetry. In this paper, we apply the gauged PQ mechanism to models where the global PQ symmetry and supersymmetry (SUSY) are simultaneously broken at around $\mathcal{O}(10^{11-12})$\,GeV. Such scenario is motivated by an intriguing coincidence between the supersymmetry breaking scale which explains the observed Higgs boson mass by the gravity mediated sfermion masses, and the PQ breaking scale which evades all the astrophysical and the cosmological constraints. As a concrete example, we construct a model which consists of a simultaneous supersymmetry/PQ symmetry breaking sector based on $SU(2)$ dynamics and an additional PQ symmetry breaking sector based on $SU(N)$ dynamics. We also show that new vector-like particles are predicted in the TeV range in the minimum model, which can be tested by the LHC experiments.

In this case, however, the axion causes the serious cosmological problem, isocurvature perturbation problem, which severely constrains the Hubble parameter during inflation. The constraint is relaxed when Peccei-Quinn scalar field takes a large value $\sim M_{p}$ (Planck scale) during inflation. In this letter, we point out that the allowed region of the decay constant $F_a$ is reduced to a rather narrow region for a given tensor-to-scalar ratio $r$ when Peccei-Quinn scalar field takes $\sim M_{p}$ during inflation. For example, if the ratio $r$ is determined as $r \gtrsim 10^{-3}$ in future measurements, we can predict $F_a \simeq (0.1-1.4)\times 10^{12}$ GeV for domain wall number $N_\text{DW}=6$.

Solar system bodies feel the dark matter wind and it acts as a resistant force opposing their motions. The astronomical ephemeris of solar system bodies is so precise that it has a strong capability to detect a dark matter whose mass is much lighter than O(1) eV. We have estimated the resistant force based on the calculation of the elastic scattering cross section between the dark matter and the bodies beyond the Born approximation, and show that the astronomical ephemeris indeed put a very strong constraint on the interaction between the dark matter and a nucleon, depending on how smoothly the ultralight dark matter is distributed at the scale smaller than the celestial bodies in our solar system.

We consider a version of the low-scale type I seesaw mechanism for generating small neutrino masses, as an alternative to the standard seesaw scenario. It involves two right-handed (RH) neutrinos $ν_{1R}$ and $ν_{2R}$ having a Majorana mass term with mass $M$, which conserves the lepton charge $L$. The RH neutrino $ν_{2R}$ has lepton-charge conserving Yukawa couplings $g_{\ell 2}$ to the lepton and Higgs doublet fields, while small lepton-charge breaking effects are assumed to induce tiny lepton-charge violating Yukawa couplings $g_{\ell 1}$ for $ν_{1R}$, $l=e,μ,τ$. In this approach the smallness of neutrino masses is related to the smallness of the Yukawa coupling of $ν_{1R}$ and not to the large value of $M$: the RH neutrinos can have masses in the few GeV to a few TeV range. The Yukawa couplings $|g_{\ell 2}|$ can be much larger than $|g_{\ell 1}|$, of the order $|g_{\ell 2}| \sim 10^{-4} - 10^{-2}$, leading to interesting low-energy phenomenology. We consider a specific realisation of this scenario within the Froggatt-Nielsen approach to fermion masses. In this model the Dirac CP violation phase $δ$ is predicted to have approximately one of the values $δ\simeq π/4,\, 3π/4$, or $5π/4,\, 7π/4$, or to lie in a narrow interval around one of these values. The low-energy phenomenology of the considered low-scale seesaw scenario of neutrino mass generation is also briefly discussed.

In this model, small-scale curvature perturbations with large amplitude are generated, which is essential for PBH formation. On the other hand, large curvature perturbations also become a source of primordial GWs by their second-order effects. Severe constraints are imposed on such GWs by pulsar timing array (PTA) experiments. We also check the consistency of the model with these constraints. In this analysis, it is important to take into account the effect of non-Gaussianity, which is generated easily in the curvaton model. We see that, if there are non-Gaussianities, the fixed amount of PBHs can be produced with a smaller amplitude of the primordial power spectrum.

This model requires at least two Higgs doublets at the electroweak scale, with one Higgs doublet carrying a nonzero Peccei-Quinn (PQ) charge and the other being neutral under the PQ $\text U(1)$ symmetry. We consider a scenario where only the right-handed top quark is charged under the PQ symmetry and couples with the PQ-charged Higgs doublet. As a general prediction of this model, the top quark can decay to the observed standard model-like Higgs boson $h$ and the charm or up quark, $t\to h~ c/u$, which recently exhibit slight excesses at LHC Run-I and Run-II. It will soon be testable at the LHC Run-II. If the rare top decay excess stays at the observed central value, we show that $\tan β\sim 1$ or smaller is preferred by the Higgs data. The chiral nature of the Higgs flavor-changing interaction is a distinctive feature, and can be tested using the angular distribution of the $t \to ch$ decays at the LHC.

We consider minimal $U(1)$ extensions of the Standard Model in which one of the right-handed neutrinos is charged under the new gauge symmetry and plays the role of dark matter. In particular, we perform a detailed phenomenological study for the case of a $U(1)_{(B-L)_3}$ flavoured $B-L$ symmetry. If perturbativity is required up to high-scales, we find an upper bound on the dark matter mass of $m_χ\lesssim2$ TeV, significantly stronger than that obtained in simplified models. Furthermore, if the $U(1)_{(B-L)_3}$ breaking scalar has significant mixing with the SM Higgs, there are already strong constraints from direct detection. On the other hand, there remains significant viable parameter space in the case of small mixing, which may be probed in the future via LHC $Z^\prime$ searches and indirect detection. We also comment on more general anomaly-free symmetries consistent with a TeV-scale RH neutrino dark matter candidate, and show that if two heavy RH neutrinos for leptogenesis are also required, one is naturally led to a single-parameter class of $U(1)$ symmetries.

LIGO-Virgo collaboration has found black holes as heavy as $M \sim 30M_\odot$ through the detections of the gravitational waves emitted during their mergers. Primordial black holes (PBHs) produced by inflation could be an origin of such events. While it is tempting to presume that these PBHs constitute all Dark Matter (DM), there exists a number of constraints for PBHs with $\mathcal{O} (10) M_\odot$ which contradict with the idea of PBHs as all DM. Also, it is known that weakly interacting massive particle (WIMP) that is a common DM candidate is almost impossible to coexist with PBHs. These observations motivate us to pursue another candidate of DM. In this paper, we assume that the string axion solving the strong CP problem makes up all DM, and discuss the coexistence of string axion DM and inflationary PBHs for LIGO events.

Abstract:
We consider right-handed neutrino pair production in generic $Z^\prime$ models. We propose a new, model-independent analysis using final states containing a pair of same-sign muons. A key aspect of this analysis is the reconstruction of the RH neutrino mass, which leads to a significantly improved sensitivity. We study if the minimal sneutrino chaotic inflation is consistent with a flavor symmetry of the Froggatt-Nielsen type, to derive testable predictions on the Dirac and Majorana CP violating phases, $δ$ and $α$. For successful inflation, the two right-handed neutrinos, i.e., the inflaton and stabilizer fields, must be degenerate in mass. First we find that the lepton flavor symmetry structure becomes less manifest in the light neutrino masses in the seesaw mechanism, and this tendency becomes most prominent when right-handed neutrinos are degenerate. Secondly, the Dirac CP phase turns out to be sensitive to whether the shift symmetry breaking depends on the lepton flavor symmetry. When the flavor symmetry is imposed only on the stabilizer Yukawa couplings, distributions of the CP phases are peaked at $δ\simeq \pm π/4, \pm 3π/4$ and $α= 0$, while the vanishing and maximal Dirac CP phases are disfavored. On the other hand, when the flavor symmetry is imposed on both the inflaton and stabilizer Yukawa couplings, it is rather difficult to explain the observed neutrino data, and those parameters consistent with the observation prefer the vanishing CP phases $δ= 0, π$ and $α= 0$.

Such a symmetry can survive at low energies (~TeV) while still allowing for two superheavy right-handed neutrinos, consistent with neutrino masses via see-saw and leptogenesis. We describe a mechanism for generating Yukawa couplings in this model and also discuss the low-energy phenomenology. Interestingly, the new gauge boson could explain the recent hints of lepton universality violation at LHCb, with a gauge coupling that remains perturbative up to the Planck scale. Finally, we discuss more general $U(1)$ symmetries and show that there exist only two classes of vectorial $U(1)$ that are both consistent with leptogenesis and remain phenomenologically viable at low-energies.

Muon g-2 in MSSM Gauge Mediation Revisited

Abstract:
The Higgs boson of 125 GeV requires large stop masses, leading to the large $μ$-parameter in most cases of gauge mediation. On the other hand, the explanation for the muon $g-2$ anomaly needs small slepton and neutralino/chargino masses. Such disparity in masses may be obtained from a mass splitting of colored and non-colored messenger fields. However, even if the required small slepton and neutra…

However, even if the required small slepton and neutralino/chargino masses are realized, all parameter regions consistent with the muon g-2 are excluded by the recent updated ATLAS result on the wino search in the case that the messenger fields are in ${\bf 5}+\bar {\bf 5}$ representations of SU(5). It is also revealed that the messenger fields in ${\bf 10} + \overline{\bf 10}$ or ${\bf 24}$ representation can not explain the muon g-2 anomaly. We show, giving a simple example model, that the above confliction is solved if there is an additional contribution to the Higgs soft mass which makes the $μ$-parameter small. We also show that the required Higgs B-term for the electroweak symmetry breaking is consistently generated by radiative corrections from gaugino loops.

In this paper, we discuss dark matter candidates in a visible heavy QCD axion model. There, a mirror copied sector of the Standard Model with mass scales larger than the Standard Model is introduced. By larger mass scales of the mirrored sector, the QCD axion is made heavy via the axial anomaly in the mirrored sector without spoiling the Peccei-Quinn mechanism to solve the strong $CP$-problem. Since the mirror copied sector possesses the same symmetry structure with the Standard Model sector, the model predicts multiple stable particles. As we will show, the mirrored charged pion and the mirrored electron can be viable candidates for dark matter. They serve as self-interacting dark matter with a long range force. We also show that the mirrored neutron can be lighter than the mirrored proton in a certain parameter region. There, the mirrored neutron can also be a viable dark matter candidate when its mass is around $100$ TeV. It is also shown that the mirrored neutrino can also be a viable candidate for dark matter.

This additional condition restricts the CP violating phase $δ_{CP}$ drastically. We find that the phase $δ_{CP}$ is predicted in the region of $\pm (0.4- 2.9)$ radian, which is consistent with the recent T2K and NO$ν$A data. There is a remarkable correlation between $δ_{CP}$ and $\sin^2θ_{23}$. The phase $δ_{CP}$ converges on $\sim \pm π/2$ if $\sin^2θ_{23}$ is larger than $0.5$. Thus, accurate measurements of $\sin^2θ_{23}$ are important for a test of our model. The effective mass $m_{ee}$ for the neutrinoless double beta decay is predicted in the rage of $3.3-4.0$ meV.

We have shown that the updated observational constraints suggest the viable mass function for PBHs as all DM to have a peak at $\simeq 10^{20}\,\mathrm{g}$ with a small width $σ\lesssim 0.1$, by imposing observational constraints on an extended mass function in a proper way. We have also provided an inflation model that successfully generates PBHs as all DM fulfilling this requirement.
