We explore the effect of a finite two-body energy in the discrete scale symmetry regime of two heavy bosonic impurities immersed in a light bosonic system. By means of the Born-Oppenheimer approximation in non-integer dimensions $(D)$, we discuss the effective potential of the heavy-particles Schrodinger equation. We study how including the two-body energy in the effective potential changes the light-particles wave function and the ratio between successive Efimov states. We present the limit cycles associated with correlation between the energy of successive levels for the three and four-body systems. Our study is exemplified by considering a system composed of $N$-bosons, namely two Rubidium atoms interacting with $N-2$ Lithium ones ($^7$Li$_{N-2}-^{87}$Rb$_2$), which represent compounds of current experimental interest.

We studied the single-particle momentum distribution of mass-imbalanced Efimov states embedded in noninteger dimensions. The contact parameters, which can be related to the thermodynamic properties of the gas, were calculated from the high momentum tail of the single particle densities. We studied the dependence of the contact parameters with the progressive change of the noninteger dimension, ranging from three (D=3) to two (D=2) dimensions. Within this interval, we move from the (D=3) regime where the Efimov discrete scale symmetry drives the physics, until close to the critical dimension, which depends on the mass imbalance, where the continuum scale symmetry takes place. We found that the two- and three-body contacts grow significantly in magnitude with the decrease of the noninteger dimension towards the critical dimension, impacting observables of resonantly interacting trapped Bose gases.

We revisited how Weinberg's ideas in Nuclear Physics influenced our own work and lead to a renormalization group invariant framework within the quantum mechanical few-body problem, and we also update the discussion on the relevant scales in the limit of short-range interactions. In this context, it is revised the formulation of the subtracted scattering equations and fixed-point Hamiltonians applied to few-body systems, in which the original interaction contains point-like singularities, such as Dirac-delta and/or its derivatives. The approach is being illustrated by considering two-nucleons described by singular interactions. This revision also includes an extension of the renormalization formalism to three-body systems, which is followed by an updated discussion on the applications to four particles.

We present an energy scaling function to predict, in a specific range, the energy of bosonic trimers with large scattering lengths and finite range interactions, which is validated by quantum Monte Carlo calculations using microscopic Hamiltonians with two- and three-body potentials. The proposed scaling function depends on the scattering length, effective range, and a reference energy, which we chose as the trimer energy at unitarity. We obtained the scaling function as a limit cycle from the solution of the renormalized zero-range model with effective range corrections. We proposed a simple parametrization of the energy scaling function. Besides the intrinsic interest in theoretical and experimental investigations, this scaling function allows one to probe Efimov physics with only the trimer ground states, which may open opportunities to identify Efimov trimers whenever access to excited states is limited.

We investigate the Coulomb screening effects on the energy shift of the Hoyle state in a thermal plasma environment using precise three-$α$ model calculations. The Coulomb screening effect between $α$ clusters are taken into account within the Debye-Hückel approximation. To generalize our study, we utilize two standard $α$-cluster models, which treat the Pauli principle between the $α$ particles differently. We find that the energy shifts do not depend on these models and follow a simple estimation in the zero-size limit of the Hoyle state when the Coulomb screening length is as large as a value typical of such a plasma consisting of electrons and $α$ particles.

A three-atom molecule AAB, formed by two identical bosons A and a distinct one B, is studied by considering coupled channels close to a Feshbach resonance. It is assumed that the subsystems AB and AA have, respectively, one and two channels, where, in this case, AA has open and closed channels separated by an energy gap. The induced three-body interaction appearing in the single channel description is derived using the Feshbach projection operators for the open and closed channels. An effective three-body interaction is revealed in the limit where the trap setup is tuned to vanishing scattering lengths . The corresponding homogeneous coupled Faddeev integral equations are derived in the unitarity limit. The s-wave transition matrix for the AA subsystem is obtained with a zero-range potential by a subtractive renormalization scheme with the introduction of two finite parameters, besides the energy gap. The effect of the coupling between the channels in the coupled equations is identified with the energy gap, which essentially provides an ultraviolet scale that competes with the van der Waals radius - this sets the short-range physics of the system in the open channel. The competition occurring at short distances exemplifies the violation of the ``van der Waals universality" for narrow Feshbach resonances in cold atomic setups. In this sense, the active role of the energy gap drives the short-range three-body physics.

Atom-dimer exchange and dissociation reaction rates are predicted for different combinations of two $^4$He atoms and one of the alkaline species among $^{6}$Li, $^{7}$Li and $^{23}$Na, by using three-body scattering formalism with short-range two-body interactions. Our study was concerned with low-energy reaction rates in which the $s-$, $p-$ and $d-$ wave contributions are the relevant ones. The $^4$He is chosen as one of the atoms in the binary mixture, in view of previous available investigations and laboratory accessibilities. Focusing on possible experimental cold-atom realizations with two-atomic mixtures, in which information on atom-dimer reaction rates can be extracted, we predict the occurrence of a dip in the elastic reaction rate for colliding energies smaller than 20 mK, when the dimer is the $^4$He$^{23}$Na molecule. We are also anticipating a zero in the elastic $p-$wave contribution for the $^4$He + $^4$He$^7$Li and $^4$He + $^4$He$^{23}$Na reaction processes. With weakly-bound molecules reacting with atoms at very low colliding energies, we interpret our results on the light of Efimov physics which supports model independence and robustness of our predictions. Specific sensitivities on the effective range were evidenced, highlighted by the particular inversion role of the $p-$ and $d-$waves in the atom exchange and dissociation processes.

The triple alpha reaction is a key to $^{12}$C production and is expected to occur in weakly-coupled, thermal plasmas as encountered in normal stars. We investigate how Coulomb screening affects the structure of a system of three alpha particles in such a plasma environment by precise three-body calculations within the Debye-Hückel approximation. A three-alpha model that has the Coulomb interaction modified in the Yukawa form is employed. Precise three-body wave functions are obtained by a superposition of correlated Gaussian bases with the aid of the stochastic variational method. The energy shifts of the Hoyle state due to the Coulomb screening are obtained as a function of the Debye screening length. The results, which automatically incorporate the finite size effect of the Hoyle state, are consistent with the conventional result based on the Coulomb correction to the chemical potentials of ions that are regarded as point charges in a weakly-coupled, thermal plasma. We have given a theoretical basis to the conventional point-charge approach to the Coulomb screening problem relevant for nuclear reactions in normal stars by providing the first evaluation of the Coulomb corrections to the $Q$ value of the triple alpha process that produces a finite size Hoyle state.

In this paper, dedicated to the memory of Prof. Faddeev, we will review some recent theoretical advances related to the effect of dimensionality in the Efimov phenomenon considering three-boson systems interacting by a zero-range potential. We will start with a very ideal case with no physical scales, passing to a system with finite energies in the Born-Oppenheimer (BO) approximation and finishing with a general system. The physical reason for the appearance of the Efimov effect is given essentially by two reasons which can be revealed by the BO approximation - the form of the effective potential is proportional to $1/R^2$ ($R$ is the relative distance between the heavy particles) and its strength is smaller than the critical value given by $-(D-2)^2/4$, where $D$ is the effective dimension.

We restrict $D$ to the interval $2\,<\,D\,<\,4$, and derive the heavy-heavy $D$-dimensional effective potential proportional to $1/R^2$ ($R$ is the relative distance between the heavy particles), which is responsible for the Efimov effect. We found that the Efimov states disappear once the critical strength of the heavy-heavy effective potential $1/R^2$ approaches the limit $-(D-2)^2/4$. We obtained the scaling function for the $^{133}$Cs-$^{133}$Cs-$^6$Li system as the limit cycle of the correlation between the energies of two consecutive Efimov states as a function of $D$ and the heavy-light binding energy $E^{D}_2$. In addition, we found that the energy of the $(N+1)^{\rm th}$ excited state reaches the two-body continuum independently of the dimension $D$ when $\sqrt{E^{D}_2/E_3^{(N)}}=0.89$, where $E_3^{(N)}$ is the $N^{\rm th}$ excited three-body binding energy.

The discrete Efimov scaling behavior, well-known in the low-energy spectrum of three-body bound systems for large scattering lengths (unitary limit), is identified in the energy dependence of atom-molecule elastic cross-section in mass imbalanced systems. That happens in the collision of a heavy atom with mass $m_H$ with a weakly-bound dimer formed by the heavy atom and a lighter one with mass $m_L \ll m_H$. Approaching the heavy-light unitary limit the $s-$wave elastic cross-section $σ$ will present a sequence of zeros/minima at collision energies following closely the Efimov geometrical law. Our results open a new perspective to detect the discrete scaling behavior from low-energy scattering data, which is timely in view of the ongoing experiments with ultra-cold binary mixtures having strong mass asymmetries, such as Lithium and Caesium or Lithium and Ytterbium.

The quantum mechanical three-body problem is a source of continuing interest due to its complexity and not least due to the presence of fascinating solvable cases. The prime example is the Efimov effect where infinitely many bound states of identical bosons can arise at the threshold where the two-body problem has zero binding energy. An important aspect of the Efimov effect is the effect of spatial dimensionality; it has been observed in three dimensional systems, yet it is believed to be impossible in two dimensions. Using modern experimental techniques, it is possible to engineer trap geometry and thus address the intricate nature of quantum few-body physics as function of dimensionality. Here we present a framework for studying the three-body problem as one (continuously) changes the dimensionality of the system all the way from three, through two, and down to a single dimension. This is done by considering the Efimov favorable case of a mass-imbalanced system and with an external confinement provided by a typical experimental case with a (deformed) harmonic trap.

We study a three-body system, formed by a light particle and two identical heavy dipoles, in two dimensions in the Born-Oppenheimer approximation. We present the analytic light-particle wave function resulting from an attractive zero-range potential between the light and each of the heavy particles. It expresses the large-distance universal properties which must be reproduced by all realistic short-range interactions. We calculate the three-body spectrum for zero heavy-heavy interaction as a function of light to heavy mass ratio. We discuss the relatively small deviations from Coulomb estimates and the degeneracies related to radial nodes and angular momentum quantum numbers. We include a repulsive dipole-dipole interaction and investigate the three-body solutions as functions of strength and dipole direction. Avoided crossings occur between levels localized in the emerging small and large-distance minima, respectively. The characteristic exchange of properties such as mean square radii are calculated. Simulation of quantum information transfer is suggested. For large heavy-heavy particle repulsion all bound states have disappeared into the continuum. The corresponding critical strength is inversely proportional to the square of the mass ratio, far from the linear dependence from the Landau criterion.

The analysis of the core recoil momentum distribution of neutron-rich isotopes of light exotic nuclei is performed within a model of the halo nuclei described by a core and two neutrons dominated by the $s-$wave channel. We adopt the renormalized three-body model with a zero-range force, that accounts for the universal Efimov physics. This model is applicable to nuclei with large two-neutron halos compared to the core size, and a neutron-core scattering length larger than the interaction range. The halo wave function in momentum space is obtained by using as inputs the two-neutron separation energy and the energies of the singlet neutron-neutron and neutron-core virtual states. Within our model, we obtain the momentum probability densities for the Borromean exotic nuclei Lithium-11 ($^{11}$Li), Berylium-14 ($^{14}$Be) and Carbon-22 ($^{22}$C). A fair reproduction of the experimental data was obtained in the case of the core recoil momentum distribution of $^{11}$Li and $^{14}$Be, without free parameters. By extending the model to $^{22}$C, the combined analysis of the core momentum distribution and matter radius suggest (i) a $^{21}$C virtual state well below 1 MeV; (ii) an overestimation of the extracted matter $^{22}$C radius; and (iii) a two-neutron separation energy between 100 and 400 keV.

We calculate root-mean-square radii for a three-body system confined to two spatial dimensions and consisting of two identical bosons ($A$) and one distinguishable particle ($B$). We use zero-range two-body interactions between each of the pairs, and focus thereby directly on universal properties. We solve the Faddeev equations in momentum space and express the mean-square radii in terms of first-order derivatives of the Fourier transforms of densities. The strengths of the interactions are adjusted for each set of masses to produce equal two-body bound-state energies between different pairs. The mass ratio, ${\cal A}=m_B/m_A$, between particles $B$ and $A$ are varied from $0.01$ to $100$ providing a number of bound states decreasing from $8$ to $2$. Energies and mean-square radii of these states are analyzed for small ${\cal A}$ by use of the Born-Oppenheimer potential between the two heavy $A$-particles. For large ${\cal A}$ the radii of the two bound states are consistent with a slightly asymmetric three-body structure. When ${\cal A}$ approaches thresholds for binding of the three-body excited states, the corresponding mean-square radii diverge inversely proportional to the deviation of the three-body energy from the two-body thresholds. The structures at these three-body thresholds correspond to bound $AB$-dimers and one loosely bound $A$-particle.

The core momentum distribution of a weakly-bound neutron-neutron-core exotic nucleus is computed within a renormalized zero-range three-body model, with interactions in the s-wave channel. The halo wave-function in momentum space is obtained by using as inputs the two-body scattering lengths and the two-neutron separation energy. The core momentum densities are computed for $^{11}$Li, $^{14}$Be $^{20}$C and $^{22}$C. The model describes the experimental data for $^{11}$Li, $^{14}$Be and to some extend $^{20}$C. The recoil momentum distribution of the $^{20}$C from the breakup of $^{22}$C nucleus is computed for different two-neutron separation energies, and from the comparison with recent experimental data the two-neutron separation energy is estimated in the range $100\lesssim S_{2n}\lesssim 400$ KeV. The recoil momentum distribution depends weakly on the neutron-$^{20}$C scattering length, while the matter radius is strongly sensitive to it. The expected universality of the momentum distribution width is verified by also considering excited states for the system.

We compared the observed results with a binomial distribution considering that the probabilities of winning or losing a point are equal. We consider two identical impurities immersed in a Fermi sea for a broad range of masses and for both interacting and non-interacting impurities. The interaction between the particles is described through attractive zero-range potentials and the problem is solved in momentum space. The two impurities can attach to a fermion from the sea and form three-body bound states. The energy of these states increase as function of the Fermi momentum $k_F$, leading to three-body bound states below the Fermi energy. The fate of the states depends highly on two- and three-body thresholds and we find evidence of medium-induced Borromean-like states in 2D. The corrections due to particle-hole fluctuations in the Fermi sea are considered in the three-body calculations and we show that in spite of the fact that they strongly affect both the two- and three-body systems, the correction to the point at which the three-body states cease to exist is small.

The problem is formulated in momentum space and the numerical solution of the Schrödinger equation is used to study universal properties of such systems with respect to the bound-state energies. The number of universal bound states is represented in a form of boundaries in a mass-mass diagram. The number of bound states is strongly mass dependent and increases as one particle becomes much lighter than the other ones. This behavior is understood through an accurate analytical approximation to the adiabatic potential for one light particle and two heavy ones.

The spectrum and properties of quantum bound states is strongly dependent on the dimensionality of space. How this comes about and how one may theoretically and experimentally study the interpolation between different dimensions is a topic of great interest in different fields of physics. In this paper we study weakly bound states of non-relativistic two and three boson systems when passing continuously from a three (3D) to a two-dimensional (2D) regime within a 'squeezed dimension' model. We use periodic boundary conditions to derive a surprisingly simple form of the three-boson Schr{ö}dinger equation in momentum space that we solve numerically. Our results show a distinct dimensional crossover as three-boson states will either disappear into the continuum or merge with a 2D counterpart, and also a series of sharp transitions in the ratios of three-body and two-body energies from being purely 2D to purely 3D.

We study the two dimensional three-body problem in the general case of three distinguishable particles interacting through zero-range potentials. The Faddeev decomposition is used to write the momentum-space wave function. We show that the large-momentum asymptotic spectator function has the same functional form as derived previously for three identical particles. We derive analytic relations between the three different Faddeev components for three distinguishable particles. We investigate the one-body momentum distributions both analytically and numerically and analyze the tail of the distributions to obtain two- and three-body contact parameters. We specialize from the general cases to examples of two identical, interacting or non-interacting, particles. We find that the two-body contact parameter is not a universal constant in the general case and show that the universality is recovered when a subsystem is composed of two identical non-interacting particles. We also show that the three-body contact parameter is negligible in the case of one non-interacting subsystem compared to the situation where all subsystem are bound. As example, we present results for mixtures of Lithium with two Cesium or two Potassium atoms, which are systems of current experimental interest.

We solve the three-body bound state problem in three dimensions for mass imbalanced systems of two identical bosons and a third particle in the universal limit where the interactions are assumed to be of zero-range. The system displays the Efimov effect and we use the momentum-space wave equation to derive formulas for the scaling factor of the Efimov spectrum for any mass ratio assuming either that two or three of the two-body subsystems have a bound state at zero energy. We consider the single-particle momentum distribution analytically and numerically and analyse the tail of the momentum distribution to obtain the three-body contact parameter. Our finding demonstrate that the functional form of the three-body contact term depends on the mass ratio and we obtain an analytic expression for this behavior. To exemplify our results, we consider mixtures of Lithium with either two Caesium or Rubium atoms which are systems of current experimental interest.

We consider three-body systems in two dimensions with zero-range interactions for general masses and interaction strengths. The momentum-space Schrödinger equation is solved numerically and in the Born-Oppenheimer (BO) approximation. The BO expression is derived using separable potentials and yields a concise adiabatic potential between the two heavy particles. The BO potential is Coulomb-like and exponentially decreasing at small and large distances, respectively. While we find similar qualitative features to previous studies, we find important quantitative differences. Our results demonstrate that mass-imbalanced systems that are accessible in the field of ultracold atomic gases can have a rich three-body bound state spectrum in two dimensional geometries. Small light-heavy mass ratios increase the number of bound states. For 87Rb-87Rb-6Li and 133Cs-133Cs-6Li we find respectively 3 and 4 bound states.

The shifts in the four-body recombination peaks, due to an effective range correction to the zero-range model close to the unitary limit, are obtained and used to extract the corresponding effective range of a given atomic system. The approach is applied to an ultracold gas of cesium atoms close to broad Feshbach resonances, where deviations of experimental values from universal model predictions are associated to effective range corrections. The effective range correction is extracted, with a weighted average given by 3.9$\pm 0.8 R_{vdW}$, where $R_{vdW}$ is the van der Waals length scale; which is consistent with the van der Waals potential tail for the $Cs_2$ system. The method can be generally applied to other cold atom experimental setups to determine the contribution of the effective range to the tetramer dissociation position.

The momentum distribution is a powerful probe of strongly-interacting systems that are expected to display universal behavior. This is contained in the contact parameters which relate few- and many-body properties. Here we consider a Bose gas in two dimensions and explicitly show that the two-body contact parameter is universal and then demonstrate that the momentum distribution at next-to-leading order has a logarithmic dependence on momentum which is vastly different from the three-dimensional case. Based on this, we propose a scheme for measuring the effective dimensionality of a quantum many-body system by exploiting the functional form of the momentum distribution.

We report recent advances on the study of universal weakly bound four-boson states from the solutions of the Faddeev-Yakubovsky equations with zero-range two-body interactions. In particular, we present the correlation between the energies of successive tetramers between two neighbor Efimov trimers and compare it to recent finite range potential model calculations. We provide further results on the large momentum structure of the tetramer wave function, where the four-body scale, introduced in the regularization procedure of the bound state equations in momentum space, is clearly manifested. The results we are presenting confirm a previous conjecture on a four-body scaling behavior, which is independent of the three-body one. We show that the correlation between the positions of two successive resonant four-boson recombination peaks are consistent with recent data, as well as with recent calculations close to the unitary limit. Systematic deviations suggest the relevance of range corrections.

The momentum-space structure of the Faddeev-Yakubovsky (FY)components of weakly-bound tetramers is investigated at the unitary limit using a renormalized zero-range two-body interaction. The results, obtained by considering a given trimer level with binding energy $B_3$, provide further support to a universal scaling function relating the binding energies of two successive tetramer states. The correlated scaling between the tetramer energies comes from the sensitivity of the four-boson system to a short-range four-body scale. Each excited $N-$th tetramer energy $B_4^{(N)}$ moves as the short-range four-body scale changes, while the trimer properties are kept fixed, with the next excited tetramer $B_4^{(N+1)}$ emerging from the atom-trimer threshold for a universal ratio $B_4^{(N)}/B_3 = B_4^ {(N)}/B_4^{(N+1)} \simeq 4.6$, which does not depend on $N$. We show that both channels of the FY decomposition [atom-trimer ($K-$type) and dimer-dimer ($H-$type)] present high momentum tails, which reflect the short-range four-body scale. We also found that the $H-$channel is favored over $K-$channel at low momentum when the four-body momentum scale largely overcomes the three-body one.

In the universal regime, two energy ratios and two mass ratios provide complete knowledge of the three-body energy measured in units of one two-body energy. The lowest number of stable bound states is produced when one mass is larger than two similar masses. We focus on selected asymmetric systems of interest in cold atom physics. The scaled three-body energy and the two scaled two-body energies are related through an equation for a supercircle whose radius increases almost linearly with three-body energy. The exponents exhibit an increasing behavior with three-body energy. The mass dependence is highly non-trivial. We give a simple relation that predicts the universal three-body energy.

The momentum space zero-range model is used to investigate universal properties of three interacting particles confined to two dimensions. The pertinent equations are first formulated for a system of two identical and one distinct particle and the two different two-body subsystems are characterized by two-body energies and masses. The three-body energy in units of one of the two-body energies is a universal function of the other two-body energy and the mass ratio. We derive convenient analytical formulae for calculations of the three-body energy as function of these two independent parameters and exhibit the results as universal curves. In particular, we show that the three-body system can have any number of stable bound states. When the mass ratio of the distinct to identical particles is greater than 0.22 we find that at most two stable bound states exist, while for two heavy and one light mass an increasing number of bound states is possible. The specific number of stable bound states depends on the ratio of two-body bound state energies and on the mass ratio and we map out an energy-mass phase-diagram of the number of stable bound states. Realizable systems of both fermions and bosons are discussed in this framework.

Our analysis, in a renormalized zero-ranged three-body model, also indicates that the two-neutron separation energy in $^{22}$C is expected to be found below $\sim$0.4~MeV, where the $^{22}$C is approximated by a Borromean configuration with a pointlike $^{20}$C and two $s$-wave halo neutrons. The tetramer energy spectrum is obtained when adding a boson to an Efimov bound state with energy $B_3$ in the unitary limit (for zero two-body binding, or infinite two-body scattering length). Each excited $N-$th tetramer energy $B_4^{(N)}$ is shown to slide along a scaling function as a short-range four-body scale is changed, emerging from the 3+1 threshold for a universal ratio $B_4^ {(N)}/B_3 \simeq 4.6$, which does not depend on $N$. Ground and first excited states of an $N$-body system appear below the threshold for binding the system with $N-1$ particles. Their root mean square radii approach constants in the limit of weak binding. Their probability distributions are on average located in non-classical regions of space which result in universal structures. Radii decrease with increasing particle number. The ground states for more than five particles are probably non-universal whereas excited states may be universal.

Abstract:
The low-energy neutron$-^{19}$C scattering in a neutron-neutron-core model is studied with large scattering lengths near the conditions for the appearance of an Efimov state. We show that the real part of the elastic $s-$wave phase-shift ($δ_0^R$) presents a zero, or a pole in $ k\cotδ_0^{R}$, when the system has an Efimov excited or virtual state. More precisely the pole scales with the energy…

We show that the real part of the elastic $s-$wave phase-shift ($δ_0^R$) presents a zero, or a pole in $ k\cotδ_0^{R}$, when the system has an Efimov excited or virtual state. More precisely the pole scales with the energy of the Efimov state (bound or virtual). We perform calculations in the limit of large scattering lengths, disregarding the interaction range, within a renormalized zero-range approach using subtracted equations. It is also presented a brief discussion of these findings in the context of ultracold atom physics with tunable scattering lengths.

Abstract:
The pole trajectory of Efimov states for a three-body $ααβ$ system with $αα$ unbound and $αβ$ bound is calculated using a zero-range Dirac-$δ$ potential. It is showed that a three-body bound state turns into a virtual one by increasing the $αβ$ binding energy. This result is consistent with previous results for three equal mass particles. The present approach considers the $n-n-^{18}C$ halo nucl…

The present approach considers the $n-n-^{18}C$ halo nucleus. However, the results have good perspective to be tested and applied in ultracold atomic systems, where one can realize such three-body configuration with tunable two-body interaction.

Abstract:
By introducing a mass asymmetry in a non-Borromean three-body system, without changing the energy relations, the virtual state pole cannot move from the negative real axis of the complex energy plane (with nonzero width) and become a resonance, because the analytical structure of the unitarity cuts remains the same.

Abstract:
The trajectory of the first excited Efimov state is investigated by using a renormalized zero-range three-body model for a system with two bound and one virtual two-body subsystems. The approach is applied to $n-n-^{18}$C, where the $n-n$ virtual energy and the three-body ground state are kept fixed. It is shown that such three-body excited state goes from a bound to a virtual state when the $n-^{18}$C binding energy is increased. Results obtained for the $n-^{19}$C elastic cross-section at low energies also show dominance of an $S-$matrix pole corresponding to a bound or virtual Efimov state. It is also presented a brief discussion of these findings in the context of ultracold atom physics with tunable scattering lengths.

The effects of trimer continuum resonances are considered in the three-body recombination rate of a Bose system at finite energies for large and negative two-body scattering lengths ($a$). The thermal average of the rate allows to apply our formula to Bose gases at ultra-low temperatures. We found a good quantitative description of the experimental three-body recombination length of cesium atoms to deeply bound molecules up to 500 nK. Consistent with the experimental data, the increase of the temperature moves the resonance peak of the three-body recombination rate to lower values of $|a|$ exhibiting a saturation behavior.

We deduce the shallow water wave equation and the continuity equation that must be satisfied when a wave encounters a discontinuity in the sea depth. A short explanation about how the tsunami hit the west coast of India is given based on the refraction phenomenon. Our procedure also includes a simple numerical calculation suitable for undergraduate students in physics and engineering.

The three- and four-body forces from the one-channel reduction of the atomic interaction near a Feshbach resonance disentangle $μ_{(4)}$ and $μ_{(3)}$. The four-body independent scale is also manifested through a family of Tjon-lines, with slope given by $μ_{(4)}/μ_{(3)}$ for $a^{-1}=0$. There is the possibility of a new renormalization group limit cycle due to the new scale.
