Optical freezing of charge motion in an organic conductor
Abstract: Dynamical localization, i.e., reduction of the intersite electronic transfer integral t by an alternating electric field, E(omega) , is a promising strategy for controlling strongly correlated systems with a competing energy balance between t and the Coulomb repulsion energy. Here we describe a charge localization induced by the 9.3 MV/cm instantaneous electric field of a 1.5 cycle (7 fs) infrared… ▽ More

Influence of the cooling rate on low-temperature Raman and infrared reflection spectra of partially deuterated k-(BEDT-TTF)_2Cu[N(CN)_2]Br
Abstract: Raman and IR spectra of k-(BEDT-TTF)_2Cu[N(CN)_2]Br [BEDT-TTF denotes bis(ethylenedithiolo)tetrathiafulvalene] and its deuterated and partially deuterated analogues were measured at temperatures between 5 and 300 K and cooling rates from 1 to 20 K/min. It was found that, in partially deuterated samples, the interdimer electron-molecular vibration splitting of nu_3 mode in Raman spectra, the magn… ▽ More

The C=C Stretching Vibrations of k-(BEDT-TTF)_2Cu[N(CN)_2]Br and Its Isotope Analogues
Abstract: The C=C stretching modes in resonance Raman spectra and infrared reflectivity were measured at temperatures between 15 K and 300 K using various polarizations in k-(BEDT-TTF)_2Cu[N(CN)_2]Br, its fully and partially deuterated analogues, and ^{13}C-substituted analogue. The infrared- and Raman-active bands were re-assigned based on the factor group analysis. We found a Raman-active EMV-coupled ν_… ▽ More

Charge-ordering and optical transitions of LiV2O5 and NaV2O5
Abstract: We present the measurements of the polarized optical spectra of NaV2O5 and LiV2O5. In an energy range from 0.5 to 5.5 eV we observe similar peaks in the E parallel a spectra of LiV2O5 and NaV2O5, which suggests similar electronic structure along the a axis in both materials. On the other hand, we find an almost complete suppression of the peaks in sigma_b of LiV2O5 around 1 and 5 eV. We attribut… ▽ More
