We explore the magnetotransport and thermoelectric (Seebeck and Nernst coefficients) properties of Mn3SnC an antiperovskite magnetic Nodal line semimetal. Mn3SnC shows paramagnetic (PM) to concurrent antiferromagnetic (AFM)/ferromagnetic (FM) transition at 286 K. The electrical resistivity and Seebeck coefficient indicate the importance of electron magnon scattering in the concurrent AFM/FM regime. We observed a large positive magnetoresistance (MR) of 8.2 at 8 T field near magnetic transition, in the otherwise negative MR behaviour for low temperatures. The electrical resistivity and MR show a weak thermal hysteresis around the boundary of transition temperature and the width of hysteresis decreases as magnetic field increases. Interestingly the Hall and Seebeck coefficients change sign from positive to negative below the transition temperature, highlighting the different scattering for holes and electrons in this multi-band system. The Seebeck and Nernst signal exhibit two sharp anomalies; one at the transition temperature and another at 50 K. The anomaly at magnetic transition in the Nernst signal disappear at 8 T magnetic field, owing to the reduction of magnetic fluctuation. A pseudo-gap near the Fermi level produces an upturn with a broad minimum in the Seebeck signal.

Here, we have explored the relevance of Kohler's rule and the thermal transport properties of VSe$_2$ across the CDW state. The magnetoresistance (MR) follows Kohler's rule above $T_{CDW}$, while an extended Kohler's rule is employed below $T_{CDW}$. Interestingly, we observed an anomaly in MR at T = 20 K, below which MR value decreases on lowering temperature. This anomaly is also reflected in the slope ($κ$) of Kohler's plots and the relative change in the thermal excitation induced carrier density ($n_T$) also. The $T_{CDW}$ remains largely unaffected in both electrical resistivity ($ρ(T)$) and longitudinal Seebeck coefficient ($\it{S_{xx}}$) even under a strong magnetic field of 14 Tesla. However, the application of magnetic field enhances the peak intensity of $\it{S_{xx}}$ at T $\sim$ 60 K. Additionally, $\it{S_{xx}(T)}$ curves measured at different fields exhibit a crossover at T = 20 K, which suggest the existence of unique feature in the CDW state of VSe$_2$ \textit{i.e.} a locally exact isosbestic point.

The Planar Hall effect (PHE) in topological materials has been a subject of great interest in recent years. Generally, it is understood to originate from the chiral-anomaly (CA) induced charge pum** between doubly degenerate Weyl nodes. However, the occurrence of PHE in the materials with positive and anisotropic orbital magnetoresistance has raised questions about CA being the sole origin of this effect. Here, we report the PHE, magnetoresistance, and thermal transport properties (Seebeck and Nernst coefficients) on the Ag intercalated PdTe$_2$. We observe positive longitudinal magnetoresistance, the linear field dependence of the amplitude of PHE, and a prolate pattern in the parametric plots. The planar Hall resistivity and anisotropic magnetoresitance fits well with theoretical study of CA being the origin of PHE. So, our observations are consistent with Weyl physics dominating the PHE in PdTe$_2$, Cu$_{0.05}$PdTe$_2$, and Ag$_{0.05}$PdTe$_2$. We further support our data with a theoretical model that reproduces the qualitative experimental features. In addition, we have calculated the Seebeck ($\it{S}$) and Nernst ($ν$) coefficients for PdTe$_2$ and Cu and Ag intercalated compounds. The estimated values of Fermi energy for the Cu and Ag intercalated compounds are respectively two times and three times larger than that of PdTe$_2$.

We have performed zero-field and longitudinal field Muon spin relaxation ($μ$SR) studies on Dy$_{2}$Zr$_{2}$O$_{7}$. Our zero field studies reveal the absence of both long-range ordering and spin freezing down to 62 mK. The $μ$SR relaxation rate exhibits a temperature-independent plateau below 4 K, indicating a dynamic ground state of fluctuating spins similar to the well-known spin ice system Dy$_{2}$Ti$_{2}$O$_{7}$. The low-temperature spin fluctuations persist in the longitudinal field of 20 kOe as well and show unusual field dependence of the relaxation rate, which is uncommon for a spin-liquid system. Our results, combined with the previous studies do not show any evidence of spin ice or spin glass ground state, rather point to a disorder-induced dynamic magnetic ground state in the Dy$_{2}$Zr$_{2}$O$_{7}$ material.

Temperature dependent resistivity exhibits metallic behavior with a slope change above 200 K for Ag-doped Bi2Se3. The magnetoresistance shows positive quadratic dependence at low fields satisfying Kohler's rule. Hall resistivity measurement shows that electrons are dominant charge carriers. Furthermore, these results agree well with the ARPES spectra observed at T = 20 K, where the Fermi level lies inside the bulk conduction band. The Dirac point of the topological surface states is shifted toward higher binding energy (~ 0.12 eV) for Ag-doped samples as compared to pristine Bi2Se3.

The Shubnikov-de Haas (SdH) oscillations have been detected for x = 0.05, 0.10, confirming the presence of 2D topological surface states (TSSs) for these samples. The Hall measurement shows the crossover from n-type charge carriers in pristine Bi$_{2}$Te$_{3}$ to p-type charge carriers upon Pd do**. The ARPES measurements show that the conduction band crosses the Fermi level for pristine Bi$_{2}$Te$_{3}$, and the Dirac point of the TSSs and bulk-derived valence bands indicated shift to lower binding energy upon Pd do** in a rigid-band-like way up to x $\sim$0.10. Based on the comparison of the parameters obtained from the SdH and ARPES measurements, the reduction in the kF value in the magneto-transport measurements likely due to the band bending induced by the Schottky barrier.

The spin ice system Dy$_{2}$Ti$_{2}$O$_{7}$ exhibits strong frequency-dependent spin-freezing at $\sim$ 16 K temperature. Although it has been a matter of discussion for years, the origin of this unusual spin freezing is still unknown. The replacement of Ti with isovalent Zr leads to the dynamic magnetic ground state at low temperatures in Dy$_{2}$Zr$_{2}$O$_{7}$ and prevents the formation of high-temperature spin freezing. Interestingly the high-temperature spin freezing re-emerges in the presence of the magnetic field. In this direction, we have studied a series of disordered pyrochlore oxides A$_{2}$Zr$_{2}$O$_{7}$ (A = Eu, Gd, Er) and compared their crystal structure, magnetic, and heat capacity behavior with that of Dy$_{2}$Zr$_{2}$O$_{7}$ and Ho$_{2}$Zr$_{2}$O$_{7}$ systems. Our study shows that depending on the disordered parameter, the spin-freezing behavior can be retained by slowing down the spin dynamic with a suitable choice of the magnetic field. We observe that unlike titanates, modification at the rare earth site does not make considerable change in the magnetic ground state of these zirconates compounds.

Spin ice materials are the model systems that have a zero-point entropy as \textit{T} $\rightarrow$ 0 K, owing to the frozen disordered states. Here, we chemically alter the well-known spin ice Ho$_{2}$Ti$_{2}$O$_{7}$ by replacing Ti sites with isovalent but larger Zr ion. Unlike the Ho$_{2}$Ti$_{2}$O$_{7}$ which is a pyrochlore material, Ho$_{2}$Zr$_{2}$O$_{7}$ crystallizes in disordered pyrochlore structure. We have performed detailed structural, ac magnetic susceptibility and heat capacity studies on Ho$_{2}$Zr$_{2}$O$_{7}$ to investigate the interplay of structural disorder and frustrated interactions. The zero-field ground state exhibits large magnetic susceptibility and remains dynamic down to 30 mK without showing Pauling's residual entropy. The dynamic state is suppressed continuously with the magnetic field and freezing transition evolves ($\sim$ 10 K) at a field of $\sim$ 10 kOe. These results suggest that the alteration of chemical order and local strain in Ho$_{2}$Ti$_{2}$O$_{7}$ prevents the development of spin ice state and provides a new material to study the geometrical frustration based on the structure.

The 6H-perovskites Ba$_3$RRu$_2$O$_9$ (R = rare earth element) demonstrate the magnetodielectric (MD) coupling as a manifestation of $4d - 4f$ magnetic interactions. Here, we have reported a detailed study of the structural, magnetic, heat capacity, and MD properties of the 6H-perovskite Ba$_3$GdRu$_2$O$_9$. The signature of long-range antiferromagnetic (AFM) ordering $\sim$ 14.8 K ($T_N$) is evident from the magnetization and heat capacity studies. The $T_N$ shifts towards the lower temperature side, apart from splitting in two with the application of the magnetic field. Field-dependent magnetization at 1.8 K shows three metamagnetic transitions with the opening of small hysteresis in different regions. A new transition at $T_1$ emerges after the onset of the first metamagnetic transition. Complex magnetic behavior is observed in different magnetic field regions whereas these field regions themselves vary with the temperature. Dielectric response recorded at zero and 80 kOe field exhibits the development of MD coupling well above $T_N$. The MD coupling ($\sim$ 4.5 \% at 10 K) is enhanced by 25 \% as compared to the Dy counterpart. Effect of complex magnetic behavior is also conveyed in the MD results where the maximum value of MD coupling is observed in the vicinity of 10 K (onset of $T_1$) and near the second metamagnetic transition. Our investigation suggests that both Gd and Ru moments align simultaneously at $T_N$. Short-range magnetic correlations are possibly responsible for MD coupling above $T_N$.

The angle-dependent magnetoresistance study highlights the anisotropy in the upper critical field (Hc2) with the anisotropy parameter Gamma ~1.2. We observed a gradual decrease in low-temperature Hall resistivity on the application of magnetic field like any conventional superconductor, instead of the finite Hall resistivity which was linked to the chiral superconducting phase. The estimated value of the carrier concentration (~ 10^19 cm-3) for Nb0.2Bi2Se3 is one order larger than for Bi2Se3. Do** of Nb shows a significant decrease in the Seebeck coefficient value and the estimated Fermi temperature of the three-dimensional Fermi surface at the centre of Brillouin zone in the zero-temperature limit enhances by ~4 times in comparison to pristine Bi2Se3. By means of high-pressure resistivity measurements on single crystals, we investigate the charge transport properties of Cu$_x$PdTe$_2$, notable for the combination of topological type-II Dirac semimetallic properties with superconductivity up to $T_c = 2.5$ K. In both cases of pristine ($x = 0$) and intercalated ($x=0.05$) samples, we find an unconventional $T^4$ power law behavior of the low-temperature resistivity visible up to $\sim$40 K and remarkably stable under pressure up to 8.2 GPa. This observation is explained by the low carrier density $n$, which strongly reduces the $k$-region available for electron-phonon scattering, as previously reported in other low-$n$ two-dimensional systems, such as multilayer graphene and semiconductor heterostructures. Our data analysis complemented by specific heat measurements and supported by previous quantum oscillation studies and \textit{ab initio} calculations suggests a scenario of one-band charge transport. Within this scenario, our analysis yields a large value of transport electron-phonon coupling constant $λ_{tr} = 1.2$ at ambient pressure that appears to be strongly enhanced by pressure assuming a constant effective mass.

A new mononuclear Dysprosium based Coordination Polymer {Dy-CP} was investigated magnetically using dc and ac magnetic susceptibility. The dc magnetic susceptibility does not exhibit any long-range ordering down to 1.8 K and the negative value of Curie Constant (~ - 4 K) indicate the dominance of antiferromagnetic interactions between the Dy (III) spins. Ac susceptibility exhibits absence of single molecular magnet behavior at zero dc magnetic field and shows signal of quantum tunneling magnetization (QTM) below 8 K. However, on the superimposition of dc magnetic field (3 kOe), frequency dependent relaxation peak emerged at T_f = 5 K and QTM signal suppress at higher fields. The intermediate value of Mydosh parameter calculated from the shift in peak position (T_f) in ac susceptibility reflects the formation of superparamagnetic state. Further, the temperature dependence of Tf is analyzed with Arrhenius and Cole-Cole plot. The magnetic susceptibility analysis yields characteristics pre-relaxation factor 1.40x10^(-12) sec and energy barrier ΔE/k_B = 93.4 K, indicating the slow spin relaxation. The Cole-Cole fit to the ac susceptibility data shows further evidence for the single ion spin relaxation. Thus, the magnetic measurements support the single-molecule magnet behavior in Dy-CP under the application of dc magnetic field.

The magnetoresistance shows the non-saturating linear behavior at higher magnetic field and low temperature. Intercalation of Fe increases the onset of the linear magnetoresistance behavior, indicating the reduction in quantum effects. Unlike these, Dy$_{2}$Zr$_{2}$O$_{7}$ is reported to crystallize in a distorted fluorite structure. We present here the magnetic and heat capacity studies of La substituted Dy$_{2}$Zr$_{2}$O$_{7}$. Our findings suggest the absence of spin ice state in Dy$_{2}$Zr$_{2}$O$_{7}$ but the emergence of the magnetic field induced spin freezing near T $\approx$ 10 K in ac susceptibility measurements which is similar to Dy$_{2}$Ti$_{2}$O$_{7}$. The magnetic heat capacity of Dy$_{2}$Zr$_{2}$O$_{7}$ shows a shift in the peak position from 1.2 K in zero field to higher temperatures in the magnetic field, with the corresponding decrease in the magnetic entropy. The low temperature magnetic entropy at 5 kOe field is Rln2 - (1/2)Rln(3/2) which is same as for the spin ice state. Substitution of non-magnetic, isovalent La$^{3+}$ for Dy$^{3+}$ gradually induces the structural change from highly disordered fluorite to weakly ordered pyrochlore phase. The La$^{3+}$ substituted compounds with less distorted pyrochlore phase show the spin freezing at lower field which strengthens further on the application of magnetic field. Our results suggest that the spin ice state can be stabilized in Dy$_{2}$Zr$_{2}$O$_{7}$ either by slowing down of the spin dynamics or by strengthening the pyrochlore phase by suitable substitution in the system.

Partial substitution of Fe with other magnetic and non-magnetic ion affects the magnetic and the structural properties of the system. We report detailed investigation of structural, magnetic and dielectric properties of YBaCuFe0.85M0.15O5 (M=Co, Ni and Ga). We observed that the partial replacement of Ni and Co in place of Fe, results in magnetic dilution and broadening of the magnetic transition and shifting towards lower temperature. The replacement of Fe with non-magnetic Ga also results in shifting of the magnetic transition to the lower temperature side. The observed dielectric relaxation behavior in these compounds is due to the charge carrier ho**. This study highlights the impacts of magnetic and non-magnetic do** at the magnetic site on magnetic and dielectric properties in layered perovskite compound YBaCuFeO5.

We have systematically studied the magnetic properties of chromium chalcogene compounds FeCr$_2$Se$_{4-x}$Te$_x$. The FeCr2Se4 undergoes antiferromagnetic ordering below 222 K. Substitution of tellurium lowers the antiferromagnetic ordering temperature and leads to short range ferromagnetic cluster behavior towards the tellurium end. Change over from antiferromagnetic to ferrimagnetic like behavior is also reflected in the corresponding transformation from semiconducting to metallic transport behavior. There is a large variation in the Curie-Weiss temperature, effective magnetic moment and ordering temperature (TN / TC) with Te substitution. The electronic band structure calculations suggest antiferromagnetic and ferrimagnetic ground state for the FeCr2Se4 and FeCr2Te4 respectively.

Though the superconducting phase of the type-II Dirac semimetal PdTe$_2$ was shown to be conventional in nature, the phase continued to be interesting in terms of its magnetic properties. While certain experiments indicated an unexpected type-I superconducting phase, other experiments revealed formation of vortices under the application of magnetic fields. Recently, scanning tunneling spectroscopy (STS) experiments revealed the existence of a mixed phase where type-I and type-II behaviours coexist. Here, based on our temperature and magnetic field dependent STS experiments on Cu-intercalated PdTe$_2$ we show that as the critical temperature of the superconducting phase goes up from 1.7 K to 2.4 K on Cu-intercalation, the mixed phase disappears and the system becomes homogeneously type-II. This may be attributed to an averaging effect caused by quasiparticle exchange between type-I and type-II domains mediated by the Cu atoms and to decreased coherence length due to increased disorder.

The layered perovskite compounds are interesting due to their intriguing physical properties. In this article we report the structural, magnetic and dielectric properties of LnBaCuFeO5 (Ln=Nd, Eu, Gd, Ho and Yb). The structural parameters decrease from Nd to Yb due to the decrease in the ionic radii of the rare earth ions. An antiferromagnetic transition is observed for EuBaCuFeO5 near 120 K along with the glassy dynamics of the electric dipoles below 100 K. The magnetic transition is absent in other compounds, which may be due to the dominance of the magnetic moment of the rare earth ions. The dielectric constant does not show any anomaly, except in the case of HoBaCuFeO5 where it shows a weak frequency dependence around 54 K. These compounds show a significant enhancement of dielectric constant at high temperatures which have been attributed to Maxwell-Wagner effect. However, no significant magneto-dielectric coupling has been observed in these layered perovskites.

We report electrical and thermal transport properties of polycrystalline ZrTe3. The polycrystalline sample shows semiconducting behavior in contrast to the established semi-metallic character of the compound. However the charge density wave (CDW) transition remains intact and its clear signatures are observed in thermal conductivity and Seebeck coefficient, in the wide temperature range 50 - 100 K. The thermal conductivity points to additional scattering from the low frequency phonons (phonon softening) in the vicinity of CDW transition. The transport in the polycrystalline compounds is governed by smaller size polarons in the variable range hop** (VRH) region. However, the increasing disorder in polycrystalline compounds suppresses the CDW transition. The VRH behavior is also observed in the Seebeck coefficient data in the similar temperature range. The Seebeck coefficient suggests a competition between the charge carriers (electrons and hole).

We report structural, magnetic and dielectric properties of layered perovskite materials LnBaCuFeO5 (Ln = La and Lu). LaBaCuFeO5 shows magnetic cluster glass behavior below 60 K owing to the competing ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic exchange interactions. Glassy dynamics of electric dipoles has also been observed in the vicinity of the magnetic glass transition temperature. The presence of significant coupling between spin and polar degrees of freedom results in the multiglass feature in LaBaCuFeO5. The LuBaCuFeO5 compound undergoes YBaCuFeO5 like commensurate to incommensurate antiferromagnetic transition at 175 K. Large magnetic irreversibility below 17 K in this compound suggests the presence of strong spin anisotropy. In addition, in this compound the interaction between the dipoles is not strong enough, which results in the absence of glassy dynamics of electric dipoles. The contrasting behavior of two compounds is possibly due to variation in the ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic interactions along c-axis, which is the manifestation of structural modification arising out of the difference in the ionic radii of La and Lu.

One important data format is text. To answer user queries over the internet, and to overcome the problem of information overload one possible solution is text document summarization. This not only reduces query access time, but also optimize the document results according to specific users requirements. Summarization of text document can be categorized as abstractive and extractive. Most of the work has been done in the direction of Extractive summarization. Extractive summarized result is a subset of original documents with the objective of more content coverage and lea redundancy. Our work is based on Extractive approaches. In the first approach, we are using some statistical features and semantic-based features. To include sentiment as a feature is an idea cached from a view that emotion plays an important role. It effectively conveys a message. So, it may play a vital role in text document summarization.

Recently H. Wang et al. (arXiv 1704.00995) have reported quantum oscillation in magnetoresistance with the periodicity in logarithmic of magnetic field (B) for the p-type ZrTe5. They have ascribed this type of behavior to the discrete scale invariance, resulting from Effimov bound states. We have prepared high quality stoichiometric (p-type) ZrTe5 polycrystals and observed magnetoresistance (MR) oscillations, which are periodic in B. These oscillations are in contrast to usual SdH oscillations or log B dependent oscillations as observed for tellurium deficient and stoichiometric ZrTe5 respectively. The MR follows the three dimensional Weyl semimetal like behavior, and Kohler's rule is obeyed at low temperatures. We obtained small cyclotron effective mass (m* = 0.05 m_e), very high mobility of 2.2 X 10^4 cm^2/V.s and the signature of topological protected surface states in the compound. The magnetic data shows zero cusp paramagnetic susceptibility which supports the existence of topological surface states in ZrTe5.

Electrical resistivity for the compounds shows Bloch-Gruneisen type linear temperature (T) dependence for 100 K < T < 480 K, and Fermi liquid behavior (~ T^2) below 50 K. Seebeck coefficient data exhibit strong competition between Normal (N) and Umklapp (U) scattering processes at low T. Though our results indicate the transfer of charge carriers to PdTe2 upon Cu intercalation, it is difficult to discern any change in the Fermi surface of the compound by Nordheim-Gorter plots. The estimated Fermi energies of the compounds are quite comparable to good metals Cu, Ag and Au. The low T, thermal conductivity (k) of the compounds is strongly dominated by the electronic contribution, and exhibits a rare linear T dependence below 10 K. However, high T, k(T) shows usual 1/T dependence, dominated by U scattering process. The electron phonon coupling parameters, estimated from the low T, specific heat data and first principle electronic structure calculations suggest that PdTe2 and Cu0.04PdTe2 are intermediately coupled superconductors.

We report the evolution of structural, magnetic and dielectric properties due to partial substitution of Ba by Sr in the high temperature multiferroic YBaCuFeO5. This compound exhibits ferroelectric and antiferromagnetic transitions around 200 K and these two phenomena are presumed to be coupled with each other. Our studies on magnetic and dielectric properties of the YBa1-xSrxCuFeO5 (x = 0.0, 0.25 and 0.5) show that substitution of Sr shifts magnetic transition towards higher temperature whereas dielectric transition to lower temperature. These results points to the fact that magnetic and dielectric transitions get decoupled as a result of chemical pressure in form of Sr substitution. The nature of magnetodielectric coupling changes across the series with the presence of higher order coupling terms. Additionally in these compounds glassy dynamics of electric dipoles is observed at low temperatures.

Contradictory results on the ferroelectric response of type II multiferroic YBaCuFeO$_{5}$, in its incommensurate phase, has of late, opened up a lively debate. There are ambiguous reports on the nature of the spiral magnetic state. Using first-principles DFT calculations for the parent compound within LSDA+U+SO approximation, the multiferroic response and the nature of spiral state is revealed. The helical spiral is found to be more stable below the transition temperature as spins prefer to lie in ab plane. The Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya (DM) interaction and the spin current mechanism were earlier invoked to account for the electric polarisation in this system. However, the DM interaction is found to be absent, spin current mechanism is not valid in the helical spiral state and there is no electric polarisation thereof. These results are in good agreement with the recent single-crystal data. We also investigate the magnetic transitions in YBa$_{1-x}$Sr$_x$CuFeO$_5$ for the entire range $0\le x\le 1$ of do**. The exchange interactions are estimated as a function of do** and a quantum Monte Carlo (QMC) calculation on an effective spin Hamiltonian shows that the paramagnetic to commensurate phase transition temperature increases with do** till $x=0.5$ and decreases beyond. Our observations are consistent with experimental findings.

Summarization is a way to represent same information in concise way with equal sense. This can be categorized in two type Abstractive and Extractive type. Our work is focused around Extractive summarization. A generic approach to extractive summarization is to consider sentence as an entity, score each sentence based on some indicative features to ascertain the quality of sentence for inclusion in summary. Sort the sentences on the score and consider top n sentences for summarization. Mostly statistical features have been used for scoring the sentences. We are proposing a hybrid model for a single text document summarization. This hybrid model is an extraction based approach, which is combination of Statistical and semantic technique. The hybrid model depends on the linear combination of statistical measures : sentence position, TF-IDF, Aggregate similarity, centroid, and semantic measure. Our idea to include sentiment analysis for salient sentence extraction is derived from the concept that emotion plays an important role in communication to effectively convey any message hence, it can play a vital role in text document summarization. For comparison we have generated five system summaries Proposed Work, MEAD system, Microsoft system, OPINOSIS system, and Human generated summary, and evaluation is done using ROUGE score.

We investigate the electronic structure of FeTe(0.6)Se(0.4) employing high resolution photoemission spectroscopy and ab initio band structure calculations. Fe 2p core level and the valence band spectra exhibit signature of strong electron correlation in the electronic structure. The electronic states near the Fermi level reduces in intensity with the decrease in temperature in conformity with the insulating transport observed near 300 K. The observation of an insulator to metal transition around 150 K in the transport properties may be related to the spectral lineshape change in the vicinity of the Fermi level observed in this study. The spectral features near Fermi level exhibit significant p orbital character due to the correlation induced Fe d spectral weight transfer. The experimental spectra reveal dominant temperature dependence of the spectral functions possessing large p-character. These results demonstrate significant renormalization of the character of the conduction electrons due to electron correlation and emphasizes the importance of ligand states in the superconductivity of these materials.

The crystallographic investigation provides direct evidence that in the martensitic $bcc \rightarrow hcp$ transition at 14 GPa the $\lbrace 110\rbrace_{bcc}$ become the $\lbrace 002\rbrace_{hcp}$ directions. During a pressure cycle, resistivity shows a broad hysteresis of 6.5 GPa, whereas superconductivity, observed between 13 and 31 GPa, remains unaffected. Upon increasing pressure an electronic instability, probably a quantum critical point, is observed at around 19 GPa and, close to this pressure, the superconducting $T_{c}$ and the isothermal resistivity ($0<T<300\,$K) attain maximum values. In the superconducting pressure domain, the exponent $n = 5/3$ of the temperature power law of resistivity and its prefactor, which mimics $T_{c}$, indicate that ferromagnetic fluctuations may provide the glue for the Cooper pairs, yielding unconventional superconductivity.

The isomer shift and quadrupolar splitting obtained from the Moessbauer spectroscopy clearly brings out the electronic differences in these two series.

The transport and magnetic studies are performed on high quality FeTe0.60Se0.40 single crystals to determine the upper critical fields (Hc2), lower critical field (Hc1) and the Critical current density (Jc). The value of upper critical field Hc2 are very large, whereas the activation energy as determined from the slope of the Arrhenius plots are was found to be lower than that in the FeAs122 superconductor. The lower critical field was determined in ab direction and c direction of the crystal, and was found to have a anisotropy of 'gamma'{=(Hc1//c) / (Hc1//b)} ~ 4. The magnetic isotherms measured up to 12 Tesla shows the presence of fishtail behavior. The critical current densities at 1.8K of the single crystal was found to almost same in both ab and c direction as 1X105 Amp/cm2 in low field regime.

Electrical conductivity, thermopower and magnetic properties of Fe-intercalated Fe0.33VSe2 has been reported between 4.2K - 300K. We observe a first order transition in the resistivity of the sintered pellets around 160K on cooling. The electronic properties including the transitional hysteresis in the resistance anomaly (from 80K-160K) are found to be very sensitive to the structural details of the samples, which were prepared in different annealing conditions. The thermopower results on the sintered pellets are reported between 10K - 300K. The magnetic measurements between 2K - 300K and up to 14 Tesla field show the absence of any magnetic ordering in Fe0.33VSe2. The magnetic moment per Fe -atom at room temperature (between 1.4 to 1.7 Bohr Magneton) is much lower than in previously reported anti-ferromagnetic FeV2Se4. Furthermore, the Curie constant shows a rapid and continuous reduction and combined with the high field magnetization result at 2K suggests a rapid decrease in the paramagnetic moments on cooling to low temperatures and the absence of any magnetic order in Fe0.33VSe2 at low temperatures.

Abstract:
We present our results of the effect of Fe intercalation on the structural, transport and magnetic properties of 1T-VSe2. Intercalation of iron, suppresses the 110K charge density wave (CDW) transition of the 1T-VSe2. For the higher concentration of iron, formation of a new kind of first order transition at 160K takes place, which go on stronger for the 33% Fe intercalation. Thermopower of the F…

For the higher concentration of iron, formation of a new kind of first order transition at 160K takes place, which go on stronger for the 33% Fe intercalation. Thermopower of the FexVSe2 compounds (x = 0 - 0.33), however do not show any anomaly around the transition. The intercalation of Fe does not trigger any magnetism in the weak paramagnetic 1T-VSe2, and Fe is the low spin state of Fe3+.

The results of low temperature thermoelectric power and the specific heat of 1T-VSe2 (Vanadium diselenide) have been reported along with the electrical resistivity, and Hall coefficient of the compound. The Charge Density Wave (CDW) transition is observed near 110K temperature in all these properties. The Thermoelectric power has been measured from 15K to 300K spanning the incommensurate and commensurate CDW regions. We observed a weak anomaly at the CDW transition for the first time in the specific heat of VSe2. The linear temperature dependence of resistivity and thermoelectric power at higher temperatures suggests a normal metallic behavior and electron-phonon scattering above the CDW transition. The positive thermoelectric power and negative Hall coefficient along with strongly temperature dependent behavior in the CDW phase suggest a mixed conduction related to the strongly hybridized s-p-d bands in this compound.

We present the results of the magnetic and specific heat measurements on V4 tetrahedral-cluster compound GaV4S8 between 2 to 300K. We find two transitions related to a structural change at 42K followed by ferromagnetic order at 12K on cooling. Remarkably similar properties were previously reported for the cluster compounds of Mo4. These compounds show an extremely high density of low energy excitations in their electronic properties. We explain this behavior in a cluster compound as due to the reduction of coulomb repulsion among electrons that occupy highly degenerate orbits of different clusters.
