In the last twenty years, Structure from Motion (SfM) has been a constant research hotspot in the fields of photogrammetry, computer vision, robotics etc., whereas real-time performance is just a recent topic of growing interest. This work builds upon the original on-the-fly SfM (Zhan et al., 2024) and presents an updated version with three new advancements to get better 3D from what you capture: (i) real-time image matching is further boosted by employing the Hierarchical Navigable Small World (HNSW) graphs, thus more true positive overlap** image candidates are faster identified; (ii) a self-adaptive weighting strategy is proposed for robust hierarchical local bundle adjustment to improve the SfM results; (iii) multiple agents are included for supporting collaborative SfM and seamlessly merge multiple 3D reconstructions into a complete 3D scene when commonly registered images appear. Various comprehensive experiments demonstrate that the proposed SfM method (named on-the-fly SfMv2) can generate more complete and robust 3D reconstructions in a high time-efficient way. Metasurface has witnessed an urgent need for reconfigurable chiral manipulation recently, while the graphene-based devices attracted significant attention from researchers due to their inherent tunable properties. Here, an L-shaped metasurface composed of three hollow monolayer graphene resonant rings is proposed. A huge dual-frequency asymmetric transmission (AT) in the mid-infrared band (7800 nm-9000 nm) with transmission efficiency peaks of 0.14 and 0.26 is revealed, which is optimal of its similar monolayer counterparts in the current band. By changing the Fermi level of graphene and the relaxation time of its carriers, the AT spectrum including the positions and widths of the peaks can be effectively modulated. More importantly, the structure designed here gives priority to the machinability of the metasurface configuration, ensuring its practicality and promising applications in chiral applications in the future.

Suspensions of colloidal microplates in contoured 2D elastic fluids sheets are dominated by the bending mechanics and shear rigidity of the plates and the contrasting in-plane shear flow of the 2D fluid. Using the phase separated phospholipid membranes of individual giant unilamellar vesicles as models of contoured 2D suspensions, where solid domains act as colloids in a fluid membrane, we explore bending elasticity-driven assembly. The plate-shaped domains are varied between 1-10 μm in diameter, with 4-100 plates per vesicle depending on size, contributing a solid area of 17 plus minus 3%. Three classes of reversible plate arrangements evidence inter-plate attractions and repulsions: persistent hexagonal vesicle-encompassing quasi-lattices, persistent closely associated configurations (chains or concentrated lattices), and a dynamic disordered state. The vesicle-encompassing quasi-lattice is stable to vesicle dehydration by 30% relative to an inflated sphere. Excess area or membrane slack, for a fixed composition, dominates the preferred configuration while domain size and number contribute pattern intricacy. Different from the gradual variations in domain interactions and tunable positions in two-colloid systems, multibody interactions vary sharply within a particular range of excess area, producing cooperative assembly reminiscent of a phase transition.

Accurately recommending candidate news articles to users is a basic challenge faced by personalized news recommendation systems. Traditional methods are usually difficult to grasp the complex semantic information in news texts, resulting in unsatisfactory recommendation results. Besides, these traditional methods are more friendly to active users with rich historical behaviors. However, they can not effectively solve the "long tail problem" of inactive users. To address these issues, this research presents a novel general framework that combines Large Language Models (LLM) and Knowledge Graphs (KG) into semantic representations of traditional methods. In order to improve semantic understanding in complex news texts, we use LLMs' powerful text understanding ability to generate news representations containing rich semantic information. In addition, our method combines the information about news entities and mines high-order structural information through multiple hops in KG, thus alleviating the challenge of long tail distribution. Experimental results demonstrate that compared with various traditional models, the framework significantly improves the recommendation effect. The successful integration of LLM and KG in our framework has established a feasible path for achieving more accurate personalized recommendations in the news field. Our code is available at https://github.com/Xuan-ZW/LKPNR.

The morphologies of two-dimensional (2D) crystals, nucleated, grown, and integrated within 2D elastic fluids, for instance in giant vesicle membranes, are dictated by an interplay of mechanics, permeability, and thermal contraction. Mitigation of solid strain drives formation of crystals with developable shapes (e.g. planar or cylindrical) that expel Gaussian curvature into the 2D fluid. However, upon cooling to grow the crystals, large vesicles sustain greater inflation and tension because their small area to volume ratio slows water permeation. As a result, more elaborate shapes, for instance flowers with bendable but inextensible petals form on large vesicles despite their more gradual curvature, while small vesicles harbor compact planar crystals. This size dependence runs counter to the known cumulative growth of strain energy of 2D colloidal crystals on rigid spherical templates. This interplay of intra-membrane mechanics and processing points to the scalable production of flexible molecular crystals of controllable complex shape.

Medical image recognition often faces the problem of insufficient data in practical applications. Image recognition and processing under few-shot conditions will produce overfitting, low recognition accuracy, low reliability and insufficient robustness. It is often the case that the difference of characteristics is subtle, and the recognition is affected by perspectives, background, occlusion and other factors, which increases the difficulty of recognition. Furthermore, in fine-grained images, the few-shot problem leads to insufficient useful feature information in the images. Considering the characteristics of few-shot and fine-grained image recognition, this study has established a recognition model based on attention and Siamese neural network. Aiming at the problem of few-shot samples, a Siamese neural network suitable for classification model is proposed. The Attention-Based neural network is used as the main network to improve the classification effect. Covid- 19 lung samples have been selected for testing the model. The results show that the less the number of image samples are, the more obvious the advantage shows than the ordinary neural network.

Deep learning is attracting interest across a variety of domains, including natural language processing, speech recognition, and computer vision. However, model training is time-consuming and requires huge computational resources. Existing works on the performance prediction of deep neural networks, which mostly focus on the training time prediction of a few models, rely on analytical models and result in high relative errors. %Optimizing task scheduling and reducing job failures in data centers are essential to improve resource utilization and reduce carbon emissions. This paper investigates the computational resource demands of 29 classical deep neural networks and builds accurate models for predicting computational costs. We first analyze the profiling results of typical networks and demonstrate that the computational resource demands of models with different inputs and hyperparameters are not obvious and intuitive. We then propose a lightweight prediction approach DNNAbacus with a novel network structural matrix for network representation. DNNAbacus can accurately predict both memory and time cost for PyTorch and TensorFlow models, which is also generalized to different hardware architectures and can have zero-shot capability for unseen networks. Our experimental results show that the mean relative error (MRE) is 0.9% with respect to time and 2.8% with respect to memory for 29 classic models, which is much lower than the state-of-the-art works.

We theoretically investigate optical injection processes, including one- and two-photon carrier injection and two-color coherent current injection, in twisted bilayer graphene with moderate angles. The electronic states are described by a continuum model, and the spectra of injection coefficients are numerically calculated for different chemical potentials and twist angles, where the transitions between different bands are understood by the electron energy resolved injection coefficients. The comparison with the injection in monolayer graphene shows the significance of the interlayer coupling in the injection processes. For undoped twisted bilayer graphene, all spectra of injection coefficients can be divided into three energy regimes, which vary with the twist angle. For very low photon energies in the linear dispersion regime, the injection is similar to graphene with a renormalized Fermi velocity determined by the twist angle; for very high photon energies where the interlayer coupling is negligible, the injection is the same as that of graphene; and in the middle regime around the transition energy of the Van Hove singularity, the injection shows fruitful fine structures. Furthermore, the two-photon carrier injection diverges for the photon energy in the middle regime due to the existence of double resonant transitions.

Atomically thin MoS2 layer is a direct bandgap semiconductor exhibiting strong electron-hole interaction due to the extreme quantum confinement and reduced screening of Coulomb interactions, which results in the formation of stable excitons at room temperature. Therefore, various excitonic properties of MoS2 monolayer are extremely important in determining the strength of light matter interactions including their radiative recombination lifetime and optoelectronic response. In this paper, we report a comprehensive study of the underlying annihilation mechanism of various types of exciton in MoS2 monolayer using the transient absorption spectroscopy. We rigorously demonstrate that the Förster-type resonance energy transfer is the main annihilation mechanism of A- and B-excitons while multistep diffusion process is responsible for C-exciton annihilation, which is supported by critical scientific evidence.

The $^{12}$C+$^{13}$C fusion cross section is derived with a statistical model calibrated using experimental data. Our new result of the $^{12}$C+$^{13}$C fusion cross section is the first decisive evidence in the carbon isotope systems which rules out the existence of the astrophysical S-factor maximum predicted by the phenomenological hindrance model, while confirming the rising trend of the S-factor towards lower energies predicted by other models, such as CC-M3Y+Rep, DC-TDHF, KNS, SPP and ESW. After normalizing the model predictions with our data, a more reliable upper limit is established for the $^{12}$C+$^{12}$C fusion cross sections at stellar energies.

The discovery of two-dimensional transition metal dichalcogenides (2D TMDs) has promised next-generation photonics and optoelectronics applications, particularly in the realm of nanophotonics. Arguably, the most crucial fundamental processes in these applications are the exciton migration and charge transfer in 2D TMDs. However, exciton dynamics in 2D TMDs have never been studied on a nanophotonic platform and more importantly, the control of exciton dynamics by means of nanophotonic structures has yet to be explored. Here, for the first time, we demonstrate the control of exciton dynamics in MoS2 monolayers by introducing a hyperbolic metamaterial (HMM) substrate. We reveal the migration mechanisms of various excitons in MoS2 monolayers. Furthermore, we demonstrate the Förster radius of the A-excitons can be increased by introducing HMMs through the nonlocal effects of HMMs due to the Purcell effect. On the other hand, the diffusion coefficient is unchanged for the C-excitons on HMMs. This study provides a revolutionary step forward in enabling 2D TMD nanophotonics hybrid devices.

We demonstrate the optical absorption has been enhanced in the small molecule organic solar cells by employing trapezoid grating structure. The enhanced absorption is mainly attributed to both waveguide modes and surface plasmon modes, which has been simulated by using finite-difference time-domain method. The simulated results show that the surface plasmon along the semitransparent metallic Ag anode is excited by introducing the periodical trapezoid gratings, which induce high intensity field increment in the donor layer. Meanwhile, the waveguide modes result a high intensity field in acceptor layer. The increment of field improves the absorption of organic solar cells, significantly, which has been demonstrated by simulating the electrical properties. The simulated results exhibiting 31 % increment of the short-circuit current has been achieved in the optimized device, which is supported by the experimental measurement. The power conversion efficiency of the grating sample obtained in experiment exhibits an enhancement of 7.7 %.

An active margin system for margin loans is proposed for Chinese margin lending market, which uses cash and randomly selected stock as collateral. The conditional probability of negative return(CPNR) after a forced sale of securities from under-margined account in a falling market is used to measure the risk faced by the brokers, and the margin system is chosen under the constraint of the risk measure. In order to calculate CPNR, a recursive algorithm is proposed under a Markov chain model, which is constructed by sample learning method. The resulted margin system is an active system, which is able to adjust actively with respect to the changes of stock prices and the changes of different collateral. The resulted margin system is applied to 30,000 margin loans of 150 stocks listed on Shanghai Stock Exchange. The empirical results show the number of margin calls and the average costs of the loans under the proposed margin system are less than their counterparts under the system required by SSE and SZSE.

The proposed protocol is characterized by the Trusted Authority (TA) designating the Roadside Units (RSUs) to translate signatures computed by the On-Board Units (OBUs) into one that are valid with respect to TA's public key. In addition, the proposed protocol offers both a priori and a posteriori countermeasures: it can not only provide fast anonymous authentication and privacy tracking, but guarantees message trustworthiness for vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communications. Furthermore, it reduces the communication overhead and offers fast message authentication and, low storage requirements. We use extensive analysis to demonstrate the merits of the proposed protocol and to contrast it with previously proposed solutions.
