Three-dimensional assessment of susceptibility-induced signal voids caused by active cardiac implants in the setting of 3.0T CMR
Abstract: Recent technical advancements allow cardiac MRI (CMR) examinations in the presence of so-called MRI conditional active cardiac implants at 3.0T. However, the artifact burden caused by susceptibility effects remain an obstacle. All measurements were obtained at a clinical 3.0T scanner using an in-house designed cubic phantom and optimized sequences for artifact evaluation (3D gradient echo sequence… ▽ More

Proper locally spherical hypertopes of hyperbolic type
Abstract: Given any irreducible Coxeter group $C$ of hyperbolic type with non-linear diagram and rank at least $4$, whose maximal parabolic subgroups are finite, we construct an infinite family of locally spherical regular hypertopes of hyperbolic type whose Coxeter diagram is the same as that of $C$.

Locally spherical hypertopes from generlised cubes
Abstract: We show that every non-degenerate regular polytope can be used to construct a thin, residually-connected, chamber-transitive incidence geometry, i.e. a regular hypertope, with a tail-triangle Coxeter diagram. We discuss several interesting examples derived when this construction is applied to generalised cubes. In particular, we produce an example of a rank $5$ finite locally spherical proper hype… ▽ More

A Dual-hierarchy Semantic Graph for Robust Object Recognition
Abstract: We present a system for object recognition based on a semantic graph representation, which the system can learn from image examples. This graph is based on intrinsic properties of objects such as structure and geometry, so it is more robust than the current machine learning methods that can be fooled by changing a few pixels. Current methods have proved to be powerful but brittle because they igno… ▽ More

Skeletal Geometric Complexes and Their Symmetries
Abstract: Skeletal polyhedra and polygonal complexes are finite or infinite periodic structures in 3-space with interesting geometric, combinatorial, and algebraic properties. These structures can be viewed as finite or infinite periodic graphs (nets) equipped with a polyhedral superstructure imposed by the faces, allowed to be skew, zigzag, or helical. The article describes skeletal structures with maximal… ▽ More

Highly symmetric hypertopes
Abstract: We study incidence geometries that are thin and residually connected. These geometries generalise abstract polytopes. In this generalised setting, guided by the ideas from the polytopes theory, we introduce the concept of chirality, a property of orderly asymmetry occurring frequently in nature as a natural phenomenon. The main result in this paper is that automorphism groups of regular and chiral… ▽ More

An ordered framework for partial multivalued functors
Abstract: The category Rel of sets and relations intimately ties the notions of function, partial multivalued function, and direct image under a function through the description of Rel as the Kleisli category of the covariant power set functor on Set. The real numbers - a survey of constructions
Abstract: We present a comprehensive survey of constructions of the real numbers (from either the rationals or the integers) in a unified fashion, thus providing an overview of most (if not all) known constructions ranging from the earliest attempts to recent results, and allowing for a simple comparison-at-a-glance between different constructions.

Cubic Tessellations of the Helicosms
Abstract: Up to isomorphism there are six fixed-point free crystallographic groups in Euclidean Space generated by twists (screw motions). In each case, an orientable 3-manifold is obtained as the quotient of E3 by such a group. The cubic tessellation of E3 induces tessellations on each such manifold. These tessellations of the 3-torus and the didicosm were classified as `equivelar toroids' and `cubic tesse… ▽ More

The reals as rational Cauchy filters
Abstract: We present a detailed and elementary construction of the real numbers from the rational numbers a la Bourbaki. Metric characterization of connectedness for topological spaces
Abstract: Connectedness, path connectedness, and uniform connectedness are well-known concepts. In the traditional presentation of these concepts there is a substantial difference between connectedness and the other two notions, namely connectedness is defined as the absence of disconnectedness, while path connectedness and uniform connectedness are defined in terms of connecting paths and connecting chains… ▽ More

Completion of continuity spaces with uniformly vanishing asymmetry
Abstract: The classical Cauchy completion of a metric space (by means of Cauchy sequences) as well as the completion of a uniform space (by means of Cauchy filters) are well-known to rely on the symmetry of the metric space or uniform space in question. For qausi-metric spaces and quasi-uniform spaces various non-equivalent completions exist, often defined on a certain subcategory of spaces that satisfy a k… ▽ More

Metric axioms: a structural study
Abstract: For a fixed set $X$, an arbitrary \textit{weight structure} $d \in [0,\infty]^{X \times X}$ can be interpreted as a distance assignment between pairs of points on $X$. Restrictions (i.e. \textit{metric axioms}) on the behaviour of any such $d$ naturally arise, such as separation, triangle inequality and symmetry. On the Size of Equifacetted Semi-Regular Polytopes

Dold-Kan correspondence for dendroidal abelian groups

On inner Kan complexes in the category of dendroidal sets
Abstract: The category of dendroidal sets is an extension of that of simplicial sets, suitable for defining nerves of operads rather than just of categories. In this paper, we prove some basic properties of inner Kan complexes in the category of dendroidal sets. In particular, we extend fundamental results of Boardman and Vogt, of Cordier and Porter, and of Joyal to dendroidal sets.

Semisymmetric Graphs from Polytopes
Abstract: Every finite, self-dual, regular (or chiral) 4-polytope of type {3,q,3} has a trivalent 3-transitive (or 2-transitive) medial layer graph. Here, by drop** self-duality, we obtain a construction for semisymmetric trivalent graphs (which are edge- but not vertex-transitive). In particular, the Gray graph arises as the medial layer graph of a certain universal locally toroidal regular 4-polytope.

Petrie-Coxeter Maps Revisited
Abstract: This paper presents a technique for constructing new chiral or regular polyhedra (or maps) from self-dual abstract chiral polytopes of rank 4. From improperly self-dual chiral polytopes we derive "Petrie-Coxeter-type" polyhedra (abstract chiral analogues of the classical Petrie-Coxeter polyhedra) and investigate their groups of automorphisms.
