Abstract:
In this paper, we present a tutorial overview of state-of-the-art radio frequency (RF) clutter modeling and simulation (M&S) techniques. Traditional statistical approximation based methods will be reviewed followed by more accurate physics-based stochastic transfer function clutter models that facilitate site-specific simulations anywhere on earth. The various factors that go into the computation…

The various factors that go into the computation of these transfer functions will be presented, followed by several examples across multiple RF applications. Finally, we introduce a radar challenge dataset generated using these tools that can enable testing and benchmarking of all cognitive radar algorithms and techniques.

Abstract:
The zero sound attenuation of normal liquid 3He has been studied over a range of temperatures from slightly above the superfluid transition temperature, Tc, to approximately 10 mK at the constant pressures of 1 bar and 5 bar. The zero sound attenuation of normal liquid 3He has been studied over a range of temperatures from slightly above the superfluid transition temperature, Tc, to approximately 10 mK at the constant pressures of 1 bar and 5 bar. Using longitudinal LiNbO3 transducers, operating both on and off resonance, the experiment was performed at 15 discrete frequencies located in several broadband frequency windows, including 16 - 25 MHz, 60 - 70 MHz, and 105 - 111 MHz. The results are compared to Landau's prediction for the attenuation of zero sound in the quantum limit, k_{B}T << \hbar ω<< k_{B}T_{F}, where α_{0}(P,T,ω) = α^{\prime}(P) T^{2} {1+(\hbar ω/2 πk_{B}T)^{2}}. Calibration of the received zero sound signals was performed by measuring the temperature dependence of the first sound attenuation from 30 mK to 800 mK at those same frequencies and pressures. The data are compared to previous results.

Abstract:
ESR studies at 9.27, 95.4, and 289.7 GHz have been performed on (C$_5$H$_{12}$N)$_2$CuBr$_4$ down to 3.7 K. The 9.27 GHz data were acquired with a single crystal and do not indicate the presence of any structural transitions. The high frequency data were collected with a polycrystalline sample and resolved two absorbances, consistent with two crystallographic orientations of the magnetic sites a…

The 9.27 GHz data were acquired with a single crystal and do not indicate the presence of any structural transitions. The high frequency data were collected with a polycrystalline sample and resolved two absorbances, consistent with two crystallographic orientations of the magnetic sites and with earlier ESR studies performed at 300 K. Below $B_{C1}=6.6$ T, our data confirm the presence of a spin singlet ground state.

Abstract:
The magnetization, $M(H \leq 30$ T, 0.7 K $\leq T \leq 300$ K), from single crystals and powder samples of (C$_{5}$H$_{12}$N)$_{2}$CuBr$_{4}$ has been used to identify this system as an $S=1/2$ Heisenberg two-leg ladder in the strong coupling limit, $J_{\perp} = 13.3$ K and $J_{\parallel} = 3.8$ K, with $H_{c1} = 6.6$ T and $H_{c2} = 14.6$ T. An inflection point in $M(H, T = 0.7$ K) at half-satu…

An inflection point in $M(H, T = 0.7$ K) at half-saturation, $M_{s}/2$, is described by an effective \emph{XXZ} chain. The data exhibit universal scaling behavior in the vicinity of $H_{c1}$ and $H_{c2}$, indicating the system is near a quantum critical point.
